Cannot open InDesign CS4

I cannot open InDesign CS4 all it does it show errors and then closes. These are the errors I get.

If you have the serial number with you then you can download the trial version of  ID CS4 from Prodesigntools website: http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html. If you had a CS4 Suite then download the appropriate suite and if you had point product i.e. just InDesign then download from the links available for ID CS4 only. You have to be on the trial page of Adobe.com to be able to download from the links. Replace the http://www.prodesigntools.com/ with http://trials2.adobe.com/ <rest of the link here>.

  • Cannot open InDesign CS4 file...

A friend of mine called me to say they had an IDCS4 file that they had been working on for a while importing loads of jpg and Word docs and eventually it got 37mb but today the ID document wouldn't open with the "cannot open" error message.
I tried opening it on my Mac with no luck in CS4 nor in CS3. My only assistance for her was to covert an older PDF in PDF2ID which was a solution in a way but not perfect.
Is there anything that can be done to fix corrupted ID files?

    Hi Robin,
    Thanks for your reply.
The file won't open at all. The error message pops up saying "Cannot open IDH PM Induction.indd".
This is not a very enlightening message as it doesn't offer any solution to what to do next not even a suggestion to contact Adobe.
I've tried opening the IDCS4 file on 3 Macs with the same message on each computer.
My friend has a copy of the file but it's a duplicate of the damaged and that won't open either :-(
My conversion with PDF2ID has helped but the PDF wasn't bang up to date so there will be some more work to redo but at least it's not a complete restart.
Looks as if there has been lesson learnt here even if it's the fact that a file can become corrupted at any stage and so saving multiple copies along the way is the answer. Maybe if Time Machine had been installed we could have gone back to a working version. My curiosity is how the file might have become damaged. It's a shame ID doesn't offer a way of hacking into damaged files to at least get something out it.

  • Error 150:30 when I try opening InDesign (CS4) on my new macbook pro.

I keep getting Error 150:30 after setting up my new MacBookPro and restoring from backup. When I open InDesign (CS4) it says Licensing for product has stopped working. PLEASE HELP!

    Hi there,
I'd try a fresh install. You can download the installer here: Download CS4 products
Please make sure you are signed in with Adobe ID first.
Here's more info on the error code: Error "Licensing has stopped working" | Mac OS

  • Open InDesign CS4 files in CS4 in Windows 7

    Hi!
I want to open InDesign CS4 files in in InDesign CS4 but it opens with InDesign CS3. What can I do?
I also tried 'open with' by right clicking and select a default program but that didn't work for me. I also downloaded registry files from 'Windows 7 forum' to restore registry settings of 'open with', even that didn't work.
How can I manually change registry settings to open ID CS4 files in IDCS4?
    Please help me!
I'm weird of manually dragging and droping inDesing files to inDesign program window.
Should I uninstall IDCS3 and reinstall it?
    Thanks.

Did you install CS3 after CS4?
In any event, you might want to try this:

  • Cannot open indesign or docs in mac w mavericks.  how to.

cannot open indesign or indesign docs in mac w mavericks.  all docs made with same indesign that is installed in the mac.

Did you try to install CS5 on a new computer by copying or using migration? That won't work with Adobe applications.
You'll probably have to start by cleaning off the Adobe Creative Suite with the Adobe Cleaner Tool here:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Then download a clean install copy of CS5 here (unless you have the original discs you used to install):

  • Cannot open InDesign files on Mac that were saved on PC

I subscribe to Create Suite and have it installed on both my Mac and PC. So, they should both be the most current version, right? All updates are current.
A few (not all) InDesign files that were created/saved on a PC will not open up on my Mac. I get this message:
Cannot open [file name] because it was saved with a newer version of Adobe InDesign CC (10.0).
You must use that version or later to open the file. To then enable it to be opened in these version, choose Save As InDesign CS4 or later, or export to IDML.
"Save As InDesign CS4" actually has IDML in parenthesis, so it's all one option. When I bring the file over to my mac, it doesn't open properly (for example all the images are gone).
Could it be possible that there is a newer version of InDesign only for my PC and my Mac can't open those files? Seems ridiculous.

You would have no problem opening a file in version 10.0 if it was saved in 10.1, just as you would have no problem opening any other version dot release file in ay dot release of that version.
The problem here is the PC was updated to CC2014 and the Mac was not.
The OP also mentioned missing pictures when using IDML. IDML removes the previews, but you would need the linked images in any case for output, regardless of whether  you use .indd or IDML to move the file.

  • Why can't I open InDesign CS4?

I get error messages - the first one says:
Font Capture:InDesign.ece - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point .......  could not be located int he dynamic library link Public.dlll.
Then I get a second error that says:
Cannot load the SNIPPET.APLN plug in.  It is dependent ont he INXCORE.RPLN plug-in, which failed to load.

    1. Windows Vista, Home Premium (service pack 2), and I operate on a PC.
    2. I stated my InDesign version in the original heading - It is CS4.
    3. The file is an INDD file & we don't know which version it was created in.
    4. Start - All Programs - Adobe Master Collection CS4 - Adobe InDesign CS4
The error message appears in a box heading that reads:  Font Capture: InDesign.exe Entry Point not found
The message inside that box reads:
The procedure entry point ?Reset@CextScriptDOMEElement@@UAEXXZ could not be located in the dynamic library link Public.dll.
I click OK in that box - then receive this error - Heading in the error box reads:
    InDesign.exe
The error message appears in a box heading that reads:
Cannot load the SNIPPET.APLN plug in.  It is dependent ont he INXCORE.RPLN plug-in, which failed to load.  Please check documentation for the INXCORE.RPLN plug in.
I purchased the Adobe Master Collection back in 2008 or 2009 & have used several of the programs, but never attempted to open InDesign. So - I don't know if this was always a problem or ??
I'd appreciate any insight into my dilemma!
    Thank you,
    LouAnn Covi

  • I cannot open InDesign files after upgrading to CS6.

Error message is "Cannot open the file *.indd. Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug in that support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application" Can anyone help!

That message means exactly what it says, more or less. The three possibilities are it isn't an InDesign file at all (we see that here a lot), there is a .idlk lock file in the same folder (delete it), or the file has been damaged (frequently happens with flash drives).
If you open the file in a plain text editor like NotePad or TextEdit (it will look like gibberish) and paste the first few lines here we may be able to tell you if the file is damaged or not an InDesign file.

  • Cannot open InDesign CC file

I have some files that have been sent to me (Australia) from Belgium.
All open fine except one which displays this message
"Cannot open the file 'xxxxxxxx' Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file may be missing, or the file may be open in another application"
I can open the other ID CC files they have sent without issue.
I have the latest upgrade to iD CC
Any clues apart form getting the file saved as an IDML and resent would be appreciated!

Hi Bob. they sent the files on DVDs. All were compressed to fit onto the DVDs as either multi part RAR files or ZIP files. The file in question was in a 3 part RAR file, which seemed to uncompress OK, certainly all of the images and fonts are OK. My guess is that the file was already corrupt when they compressed it. I have asked them to save as an IDML file just in case they do have a strange plug in that they have used. Thanks for your thoughts (you are a legend!!!!)

  • I have purchased a new Mac power book 10.9.2.  I cannot open illustrator CS4 and get the error message 150:30.  Can you help?

I have purchased a new Mac power book 10.9.2.  I cannot open adobe illustrator CS4 and get the error message 150:30.  Can you help?

    You are welcome, Sharon.
You should be aware that the newest version, CC, is only available as a subscription.
CS6 can be purchased at Adobe, or second hand, see below.
Older versions such as CS5 can only be bought second hand, with a licence transfer through Adobe, requiring that the licence has not been used as a basis for an upgrade.

  • Problems opening InDesign CS4 files in CS5

We have just upgraded to CS5 to take advantage of the tracked changes facility, and immediately encountered problems:
when opening CS4 files in CS5, we've noticed that formulae, created using charater styles, are not displaying properly.  For example x = y / z, which would have the x and = signs dropped, the y underlined and the z on the next line, something like this (although much prettier than I can reproduce here):
    x = y
          z
in CS5, however, all gyphs in the formula are superimposed upon each other
we tried loading the character styles from our template document.  However, that caused most of the content to dissapear!
we tried converting our template to CS5 and then loading the character styles from our template document.  However, that also caused most of the content to dissapear!
    Anybody got any clues?

If you are opening the CS4 files directly in CS5, try exporting CS4 files to IDML and opening the IDML files in CS5. It's worth a try if you haven't already found it doesn't help.
