    Hey there Ray Neilson,
It sounds like you are able to open iTunes but cannot access the store. I recommend the troubleshooting from the article named:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1368
    Troubleshoot issues in Windows
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store for more than a day (and other customers on our discussion boards aren't experiencing similar issues) a software or Internet service provider (ISP) configuration issue may be blocking your access to the iTunes Store. Find out which ports and servers need to be allowed for iTunes Store access.
Update iTunes to the latest version.
If iTunes Store appears empty and only displays the message iTunes Store, follow these steps.
Try the steps to troubleshoot iTunes Store connectivity in Windows.
As with all firewalls not manufactured by Apple, you may need to configure Windows Firewall to allow iTunes to access the iTunes Store. Follow these steps for Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.
Try disabling any proxies built-in to Windows. You should avoid proxies because they can cause issues.
If you're receiving a specific error message, follow these steps.
If the issue still persists, contact your Internet service provider and confirm that these ports and servers are enabled over your network.
Note: The hosts file may be blocking the iTunes Store.Microsoft's article How do I reset the hosts file back to the default? has instructions and a FixIt to have Windows try to reset the hosts defaults for you.Note: Some workplaces may put internal resources in the hosts file and may block iTunes Store. The FixIt doesn't work for Windows 8.To create a copy of your hosts file and replace it with an empty hosts file, follow the instructions below:
You can find the hosts file at: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC.
Select the hosts file. There should now be a duplicate of the hosts file named "Copy of hosts" (Windows XP) or "hosts-copy" (Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8).
Drag the original hosts file to your desktop.
Right-click the duplicate file and choose Open. You may be prompted to choose the program you want to use to open this file. Double-click Notepad.
When Notepad opens, choose Edit > Select All.
    Choose Edit > Delete.
    Choose File > Save.
    Close Notepad.
Right-click the duplicate file, and choose Rename.
Type "hosts" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
Restart your computer and try connecting to the iTunes Store.
If you still can't connect to the iTunes Store, your security software or firewall may be blocking the ability of iTunes to communicate with the Internet. Learn how to resolve security software issues.

    Saw this on another post.
Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it!   It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

I cannot open itunes store from my iphone 4s. When I press the application icon it seems to be open at first but then automatically return to the main menu. What can be the problem?

Logout of the app store and iTunes store: Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Go back to home screen and  reset the phone by pressing the sleep/wake and home buttons together until the Apple logo appears then release them.
Once phone has finished rebooting go back to  Settings>iTunes & App Store and login with your Apple ID and password again. Then open the iTunes Store app again.

  • Itunes cannot connect to iTunes store error 306

Hi, I think I originally posted this on the wrong forum. So I will repost and hope for the best.
Up until recently I used to connect to the internet via airport and everything worked fine. I could connect to iTunes store no problem.
The connection was all set up by the local phone company and somehow they connected the iMac to airport via a modem.
I know that this appears to defeat the point of airport but it worked fine.
I had connection problems with the modem (it was old and needed replaced) that was attached to the airport and iMac. I arranged for the telephone company to come and replace the modem. However, although they replaced the modem and the internet connection is fine.
What they did not do was to reconnect the Airport device and now I cannot connect with iTunes store. Now instead of connecting to the internet via the Airport connection I now connect via Ethernet
The error message I get is
"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. An unknown error occured (306).
Make sure your network connection is active and try again."
I think that if someone could advise how I stop trying to connect to the iTunes store via Airport but via an Ethernet connection
iMac intel Mac OS X (10.6.6)

iTunes Store loads partially or returns "Error 306" or "Error 10054"
Proxies, parental control settings and software, security or filtering software, or a bad iTunes Store cache can cause this.
To address proxies, Remove Internet Options proxy settings  ( http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1490 ) and connect to the Internet without a proxy.
    To reset iTunes Store cache:
In iTunes, choose iTunes > Preferences (Mac) or Edit > Preferences (PC).
    Click the Advanced tab.
    Click the "Reset cache" button.
Click OK and see if the issue is resolved.
    Adjust Parental Controls in iTunes:
    Open iTunes.
    Access iTunes preferences:
On a Mac: From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences.
On a Windows PC: From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
    Click the Parental Controls tab.
    Remove restrictions on Parental Controls.
For more information on parental controls or content filtering software, see iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store.

  • Cannot open itunes store

A problem more ppl have to deal with as i can see on this forum, but none of the info i found here helped me so far.
When i try to open the store in Itunes on my PC (Win XP), it tries to load, but stops after a while and leaves me with a blanc screen (well, it's says 'Itunes store' in big, but i geus that's just the background). It doesn't give any errors or what so ever. besides that, my internet connection shuts down when opening Itunes . Well, it is still there, but my browser won't even open a simple website anymore. When Itunes is closed again, browser isn't a problem anymore
My OS is up to date, i'm not using any Norton products (or did so in the past) and didn't had this problem before, only after the last update. Didn't install any significant new software that in any way should or could intervene.
    I already tried the following:
-uninstall and re-install Itunes (latest version)
-Uninstall and re-install all apple-products, including Itunes
-scanned the system on virusses, mallware or any of that stuff, register-errors etc.etc.
    -check/disable firewall (well, firewalls actually)
-check/disable proxy settings (and i don't even use a proxy)
    -deleting the Itunespref-file
that's about all the possible solutions i found that might work, but non of them did.
diagnostics on network (sorry, in dutch, ask if u don't understand and i'll translate. i already translated some parts which i thnk are usefull. the bottom part says that all connectivity-tests succeeded, which is odd, cause it obviously doesn't work):

  • I downloaded latest iTunes and OS and now cannot open iTunes Store or Synch my iPad. Any suggestions

When I last uploaded the latest firmware I was not able to open the iTunes store. After being told it must be a firewall issue Apple finally told me that a number of people complained about the same thing. They told me to completely remove iTunes, QuickTimes, etc. and reinstall and that solved the problem. This time when I uploaded the latest forware version (10.5) it messed up my User profile adn I had to get that fixed. I realted the problem to Apple and they sennt the same suggestions as last time. However this time, removing and reinstalling did not resolve the porblem. In addition, it tries to back up my iPad before sychronizing to upload the latest firmware to the device and the backup process freezes the iPad and I have to close iTunes through Windows Task Manager and cannot do anything with iTunes until I reboot the computer. Any suggestions on how to fix this reoccuring problem. I am getign to the point where I dont want to use iTunes anymore.

There is an App called "Videos" that came on you home screen.  This is were they go, it has Movies, bought or rented from iTunes. Music videos and TV shoes as well as pod casts. And even your very own home movies.
Open it and there is at the top the different sections for each. (it only shows categories which have media in)
I had to search the first time too.

  • Cannot open iTunes: Unknown error (-50)

    Greetings,
Just trying to open iTunes ang go to Applications - which worked with no trouble up to right now - and get the following error:
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-50)"
I have seen references in the forums regarding this error code, but usually in regard to syncing issues.
I must note that right prior to this incident, I was actually browsing the French iTunes App selections. Perhaps my iTunes is now continuing to want to access the French iTune store??
    Will appreciate any pointers!
    - Roger T

I experienced exactly the same problem. Everything was just running ok, but after visiting a french site application store, connectivity to apple store became impossible and error (-50) was detected. Itunes reinstalled, firewall disabled but at present no way to solve the problem
