Cannot open iTunes

When I try to open iTunes, it immediately freezes. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it several times.

Locate the 'iTunes 4 Library' in Users/yourusername/Music/iTunes on your HD.
Get Info (command-I).
The checkbox 'Locked' should not be ticked.
Find 'Ownership & Permissions:' in the lower half of the info window.
Click on the little triangle to expand.
You should read "You can Read & Write".
If not change it.
Close the info window.
Run your iTunes application and hopefully all runs well.
If these kind of problems all of a sudden appear (you did not install new software or upgrades), it is advisable to restore permissions with 'Disk Utility'.
You can find this program in Applications/Utilities.
Select your HD, click the 'First Aid' tab and choose 'Repair Disk permissions'
