Cannot open Lumix FZ70 RAW images

I upgraded to Elements 12 last week to open my Lumix FZ70 RAW images but it says that my images have an unrecognized format.  Documentation suggests that the FZ70 is supported in Camera Raw but it don't work for mine.
One of your web pages (http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html) lists the file extension for the FZ 70 as .RAW but that is incorrect: the actual extension is .RW2.  It may be that the Camera Raw sees the model number and expects a .RAW format and when is sees the RW2 extension it stops.  As you can see in the table, Camera Raw does support .RW2 format for other Panasonic Lumix cameras.
It doesn't seem to be a problem on my end. Picasa 3 does open the .RW2 files without difficulty so I think my files are properly formatted.
Your help is appreciated.

The linked page says you need ACR 8.2 camera raw plug-in or newer.  What version of the plug-in do you have?  Help / About Plug-ins… / Camera Raw (in the PSE Editor) and Help / Updates… (in the PSE Editor) to update it, if your OS is new enough.  What OS?

I cannot open Nikon D800 RAW image files in lightoom 2.  My raw files will not import into lightroom (it imports jpegs, but not the RAW files) I am using Lightroom 2, version 2.7, camera Raw 5.7. Can you help?

I would highly recommend upgrading to Lightroom 4 as the processing engine is a quantum leap ahead from Lr 2 just as your camera is a leap ahead!!
p.s.  you can upgrade directly fro 2 to 4.

I can not open canon 60d raw images on photoshop CS5.1? the same program on stationary mac can open the same raw files, whereas new lap top can not? Why?  can not go to updates either- error, why?

Which version of mac os x does your new mac have?
What error do you get when going to Help>Updates in photoshop cs5.1?
You might try downloading and installing the 6.7 camera raw update from here:

If you need any other updates, you can find most of them here:

  • New install of CS3 won't open NEF (Nikon RAW) images

New install of CS3 on my new PC laptop won't open NEF (Nikon RAW) images. Same PC product opens them on my older desktop, and CS5 for MAC opens them on my iMAC.
What am I missing? CS3 has been registered and activated. Thank you

    Hi, Again, John,
I followed the instructions to the letter, and nothing worked. I still got the wrong kind of file message. After I tried to use the plug-in, I could no longre open pages in IE or Firefox. I have to wipe my new computer and reinstall everything. This time, I made CS3 the first thing I installed, and followed the instruction again as follows:
    "Windows
    ®
    1. Exit Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Bridge.
    2. Open My Computer.
    3. Double-click Local Disk (C:).
    4. Navigate to Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats.
    5. Move the existing Camera Raw.8bi plug-in to anot
her location (for example, a new folder on your
desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
    6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw.8bi, fr
om the download into the same folder as Step 4.
    7. Launch Photoshop CS3 or Adobe Bridge."
Still unable to open RAW images in PS. I did notice that the two files I copied to the desktop folder were the same, although one was slightly larger than the other. I chose to keep both.
Why is CS3 working on my desktop from the same disk with no plu-in, but not on my new laptop? Is it Windows 8.1 instead of XP? That doesn't make much sense. PLEASE help. This is insane.

  • Mac OS 10.9.4 cannot open the NEF/RAW files from the new Nikon D810 Camera

I have a new Nikon D810 camera. My new iMac cannot open the NEF/RAW files from it...Anyone have any knowledge of this?

If you will take the time to send Apple feedback, they will add RAW support - when I got my Canon, it wasn't supported either. I filed feedback and, two months, later, there was an update which included my camera model.

  • Cannot open Nikon 1V2 Raw files in CS5

    Hello!
I cannot open Nikon 1V2 Raw files in CS5
Camera Raw Version is 5.0.0.178, PS CS5 Version 11.0.2
Anyone have a suggestion that does not involve upgrading to a newer version of Photoshop?
    Thanks!

Does this mean that I can't get Camera Raw 7.3 with Photoshop CS5?
    Naturally.
Photoshop CS5 does not use ACR 7.
I did read about using the free DNG Converter but that seems like an extra step I would prefer to avoid if possible.
Either upgrade Photoshop or use another means to process the RAW files, and cost-wise DNG Converter can hardly be beat.

I cannot seem to load raw images into LR 2.5.  I've been using this for years.  I always load from memory card, but it gives me an unknown error message.  I tried to load from camera, hard drive, & external drive and still will not work.  I checked import menu and nothing has changed.  I loaded the photos onto my tablet and images are fine, so do not feel it is the memory card.  Any thoughts?

The error message probably said "unsupported or damaged"
The T3 requires Lightroom 3.4.1 or later. You can either upgrade to a more current version of Lightroom (version 5.6 is the most recent) or you can use the free Adobe DNG Converter to convert the RAWs to DNG, which should import into Lightroom properly.

  • In Photoshop CS5 why does Camera Raw 6.7 not open a Crw Raw Image?

I am running Windows XP Pro 32 bit system, with AMD ALthon  2600 processor. When I first installed Photoshop CS5 it would not open at all. After hours on the internet searching for online help from Adobe,L came across a on line chat. They said I needed a update for CS5.I downloaded the update and installed it and Photoshop opened up.Ithought this had solved my problem.Days Later I tried opening some Crw Raw Negatives. They would not open in Bridge or Mini Bridge. So I tried opening the raw image in Photoshop,a box pops up and says photoshop could not complete the task because it was the wrong image type.I have tried to get help in the General discussion forum,so far noyhing has worked. Also I forgot How to get to the online chat site,if anyonehas any ideas or where this site is It would help a lot......Thanks.

There is no such forum.  The Forum Lounge is for social interaction or for meaningless chatter.  The Forum Comments forum is to make comments on how the forums operate or ask questions about that.  Perhaps you mean the Photoshop General Discussion forum or the Photoshop Beginners forum?
In any event, unless you provide full details no one is likely to be able to reply to your questions.
Please read this FAQ for advice on how to ask your questions correctly for quicker and better answers:

  • Opening Nikon NEF Raw images in photoshop CS2

Make sure you have the correct version of ACR (or the DNG converter*) for your model of camera.
    See http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407111.html
    * you need this if the ACR version required for your camera is later than the last one that worked with CS2 (which was 3.x).

  • Photoshop cannot open EM5 II RAW files even with 8.8 ACR?!

I have an active Adobe CC subscription so my Photoshop is already the latest version, but when I try to open EM5 II .ORF files, I get message "Photoshop cannot open this file." (see attached screenshot)
EM5 II is already officially supported according to Camera Raw 8.8 announcement page so why can't Photoshop open it? I thought there's something wrong with my setup so I downloaded and installed Camera Raw plug-in installer manually but the result is still the same.
I even uninstalled my Photoshop CC 2014 using Creative Cloud and reinstalled it, I just keep getting the same message.
Any other things I can try?

You are right, when I go to Help > Camera Raw, I see plugin version is only 8.7
But I've run the Camera RAW plugin installer specified in my post above, and DNG Converter is already at the proper 8.8
Why is Camera RAW not updating to 8.8 via Creative Cloud or the manual install? Inside Photoshop, I also went to Help > Updates but it's telling I already have the latest update.
    Help!!!

  • Cannot open in camera raw

I have 4 psd files I just made.
In bridge, right click has no open in camera raw option. Also no open in camera raw from menu.
Last resort: from photoshop open, change dropdown to camera raw -- but then error message comes up:
"Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file"
    thanks!

I have Photoshop set up to Always Maximize Compatibility, myself.
This enables the use of some 3rd party viewers (e.g., IrfanView), and helps better ensure any PSD will be editable by more different software/versions.  That said, most "Never" mode saves can actually be opened by an older version of Photoshop, as long as features not available in the older version have not been used.
I think the data compression may be better when set to Never, because even a flat Background-only file will make a smaller PSD file when set to Never.  Some say it's faster, too.
However big disks are cheap, computers are faster than ever, and I hate closing off options that might mean I "can't get there from here" some day in a situation I just haven't anticipated.
    But that's just my preference.
A single layer Background-only file can be opened with Camera Raw even if saved with "Never Maximize Compatibility".  A multi-layer file cannot.  So yes, if you flatten the file you can keep the "Never" setting.
    -Noel
P.S., the "flattened composite" created by saving a compatible PSD is not really a preview - I used the wrong word before.  It's what you'd get with Layer - Flatten, and has all the quality thereof.

  • Cannot Open Nikon D90 Raw files in Photoshop Elements 7

Does anyone have advice on how to get Photoshop Elements 7 to read Nikon D90 Camera Raw (.NEF) images? When I try to open one of these Raw images, I get an error message saying that the program does not recognize that file type.

The D90 was supported as early as ACR 5.1 so you should download the PSE-specific version of ACR 5.6 from http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/ via the drop-down list at the top, and following the PSE-specific link and instructions.

  • Pse 12 wont open my d750 raw images

I recently upgraded my camera to D750.   My raw images will not open in pse 12.  - Is there a plug in? or do I need to upgrade my software as well?

Which operating system are you using?
Did you try Help>Updates from within the pse 12 editor to get camera raw 8.5, which should then enable both the pse 12 editor and organizer to open those files.
