Cannot open my photos in 3rd party apps by file menu- open file command

iphoto08 prevents me from opening my photos in ANY application by way of the file menu' 'file open' command located on the apple bar at the top of the screen..
the only work around i can find for this issue is to have iphoto open and drag each photo i want to use from iphoto into the 'file open' dialouge box in another program. or drag the photo from iphoto onto the desktop.
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANOTHER SOLUTION?
I HATE IPHOTO 08- I WANT ACCESS TO MY PHOTOS LIKE IN PREVIOUS VERSIONS !!!!!!!!!!!!

The short answer is that Apple has made the library a package to protect it from damage.
Old Toad has a back up script to backup your library on your local disk
For e-mail the best way is to configure MAIL as your mail client if it will work for your service (it does work for many), select the photos you want and click e-mail to generate an e-mail to send
For editing you can set iPhoto preferences to use a third party program to edit photos.
So there are Many solutions depending on what you are trying to do.

I saw that this issue: "3rd party apps close immediately when opened" was happening often on older iPAD posts, however, was not able to find a solution. I cannot open any 3rd party apps, but email, photos, etc work fine. thanks for the help!

If it's happening on all the apps that you've downloaded from the App Store, but not the Apple built-in ones, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.

Airplay on Apple TV not working after upgrading to iOS 8 (3rd Party Apps)

I hope someone can help me with this issue.
After upgrading the iPhone 5 and iPad 2 to iOS 8.1, as well as upgrading the Apple TV to the latest version, I now end up with ** some ** videos as well as photos that can't be played over AirPlay on 3rd Party Apps. (Note: I have no issues with 'mirroring' from the iPad to the AppleTV though.)
1.   It can play .mp4 and .mov files;
2.   It could NOT play .mkv or .avi files - there's audio but NO video
3.   It can play the photos and videos from Apple's own apps (i.e. 'Videos' and 'Photos') however (i.e. with both audio and video)
4.   It could NOT display any photos from 3rd Party Apps
5.   This is happening to more than one 3rd Party Apps (i.e. no display of photos; and no video though there's audio)
Fyi, I've emailed to the respective Developers, but after reading some of the threads in this forum, I suspect that the root cause could be with iOS 8 (as well as the latest software update to AppleTV) as I didn't have this problem at all under iOS 7.
Anybody has any solution?

No photos in Photostream, but 3rd party apps show that the photos are there

I am having a problem, not sure where to post it. Here is what is happening:
1. Take a photo with iPhone 4
2. Syncs to great up until last night
3. Last night I brought a photo into Nik's Snapseed app on my iPad (import from Photostream)
4. Now, my synced Photostream shows up on my Iphone 4, iPhoto, but the Photostream album on my iPad shows no photos.
5. However, the photos are there on the iPad, because if I use a photo editor app and import (again, like Snapseed), the photos are there and I can import. But the Apple's Photo app the album shows no photos.
Very strange....I think this has to be a bug.
Apple really needs to think about real use of Photostream. The concept is great...but I have to admit it is buggy. Adobe Carousel app, when it is released, looks ideal.
Apple, why can we not delete 1 photo (rather than the whole Photostream)?

Apple, why do new photos from my Camera app go to my camera roll and Photostream...workflow of editing and sharing photos is very messy this way with duplicate photos.
I am not sure how I am suppose to get my photostream to show up again on my iPad. I have tried resetting my photostream, hard reset my iPad, nothing works.

Exactly the same problem here too. Its bug, because I see my photostream with a 3rd party app like PS Express.

Can I set "open with" for files - associate file types with a 3rd party app

I have PDF file attachments inside my OmniFocus application. When I double-tap them, they get opened in the standard Apple PDF viewer. But I have a better 3rd-party app which opens PDFs and allows me to edit them (mark them up) - I'd like the attachments to open in this app instead of the normal PDF viewer. I don't want to have to switch to the 3rd party app to open it - it's important to me that I can place comments on many, many PDFs inside of OmniFocus. So:
1) is it possible to ask the iPad to have all PDFs to open in this 3rd party app?
2) if not, is it possible to name the attachments some other extension (e.g., .xyz) and tell it to open all .xyz files with the 3rd-party PDF viewer?

When You view the features of the app in the app store, there are pictures of some of the different screens under the main description of the app. I swiped through the pictures and the fourth photo shows a screen - An image in the black box pointing to the image name - roots.jpg. I assume that arrow must have some functionality somewhere in the app. Not sure why it is greyed out. But I stress, I know nothing about the features of the app or what it is designed to do.

3rd Party Apps Not Opening?

Hey, earlier today I installed a 3rd party application and i noticed once I installed it any other 3rd party application that I downloaded would not open so i uninstalled the program which I think was causing the problem yet the problem is still occuring, I cannot download any 3rd party app and open it succsefully. When I go to open a 3rd party app it display a few pixels in a line on the dock asif it was about to display the application icon but then it doesnt open?
I have tried verifying my disk permissions and repairing them but nothing it working?
Any reply would be highly appreciated.

I think it'll be better to restore your system using time machine to an earlier state...but i too am clueless to what exactly is the problem...try listing down the changes you made just before the problem started and if possible post them up here so that a more informed suggestion can be given

after connecting to itunes after a few months now ALL of my 3rd party apps open and close immidiately when i try to open them

First try a hard reset. To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. If that doesn't help, try downloading a new App free app from the app store to see if that helps.

Can't open any 3rd party apps - they crash on startup

I've been an iPhone owner since the first model (I have iPhone 4 now), and I've never seen anything like this.
Last night my iPhone ran out of charge. This morning, when I plugged it in it had to charge for a few minutes before it would turn on. Once it turned on, it said "waiting for activation: this may take a while". I thought this was strange, because my phone is already activated. I'm in an area with no reception, though, so maybe that was the issue.
Once the phone turned on, I tried to open some of my apps. But none of the 3rd party apps would open! When I tap them they appear to open but they shut down / crash right away. Strangely, however, all of the Apple apps that come with the phone will open without a problem (Maps, Mail, Safari, iCal, etc.).
I tried a hard reset but that didn't help. I'm away from home so I can't do an erase and store, and I really need access to some of the data in those apps.
Any ideas?

I did the same this week. I did a sync and now I can't access any of my apps. They appear to open then shut right back down. Have tried to resync, update and about anything else that may fix and nothing. Paying an aweful lot of money just for texting and phone usage. Anyone know how to take care of this issue? I have a 3G phone and been using it for a year without this problem

I have downloaded a 3rd party app, after using it for several weeks without interruption. It suddenly won't open (crashes) everytime I tried to open it. I have already tried on re installing the app, but nothing happened. Please help, I badly needed that app.

Try deleting the app, closing all apps in the recents tray, reboot the iPad, and then download the app again.
In order to cloase all apps - Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Close all of them. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Download the app again.

Why won't my 3rd party apps open?

I've got a problem where my none of the 3rd party apps open on my iPad 1 (wifi + 3G) on iOS 5.1.1. They just open and shut down instantly. I've tried all of the suggested solutions (downloading a free app, updates etc, reauthorising both itunes and the ipad) but nothing works.
I've even restored the ipad several times both as new and from a backup. Also, when I try to sync the apps through itunes it gets halfway through one and cancels the sync. Because of this there are heaps of apps that just say "loading" but never do anything.
This is so frustrating its been happening for a few weeks now and still only the original apple apps work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Yes I have several times. I seem to have fixed it somehow.
Firstly I restored on the iPad instead of through iTunes by going Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Settings. Then I set it up as a new iPad. I downloaded a previously purchased app but it still didn't work so then I downloaded a new free app. Then I did a hardware reset by holding in the home and power buttons. After that, I manually downloaded each app that I wanted to use as I needed it.
It seems that the issue resurfaces every time I sync with the computer so I will have to avoid doing this.

Recently all my apps won't open on my iPhone. All the stock Apple apps work though. All the 3rd party apps don't work. What can I do? I tried resetting, and restoring. What else should i try?

I'm also going through this problem and the only way to fix it (as far as I know) is go to App Store in your iPhone and download any random app (free app preferably), then make sure all your 3rd party apps work again and delete the random app you just downloaded.

Apple going to open source to 3rd party apps?

I read that apple was opening their software to 3rd party software developers. I thinnk that it's great, not only do I want to listen to music on the plane but I want to be able to play solitare, for example, or many other of the cool apps being developed. When can we expect to download apps to the phone to ENHANCE the experience?

Apple is releasing an iPhone SDK - software developers kit in February reportedly to select developers only but the select part may or may not be true but depending on the application, I don't expect to see much being available during February.

Can't use system ringtone in 3rd party apps since OS upgrade

Yesterday I upgraded the OS on my BB9900 to 7.1 Bundle 2061 (v7.1.0.714 Platform 5.1.0.532). I then had to completely reconfigure BeBuzz LED customiser (v 5.0.40 for OS 7.1) for specific contacts and apps. Before upgrading I had used 3Bells as a contact-specific alert for emails and text messages in BeBuzz. But since the upgrade it won’t let me us 3Bells. If I try, the following message appears:
“The selected ringtone 3Bells is a system protected file and cannot be accessed by 3rd party apps. Please move a copy of the file to a different folder on your phone. This applies to all ringtones that came preinstalled on this phone”.
This is very strange, as this restriction wasn’t there before upgrading the OS. My question is, how do I locate the folder where this ringtone file is?

Help - need to give permission to download 3rd party apps

I've downloaded an application from a site I use often, so I trust it, but I cannot open the app because I apparently denied the use of 3rd party apps when I set up Lion. Cannot find that set up now to change it. Can you help?
