Cannot Open Numbers Spreadsheet (Numbers on iPhone)

I have a spreadsheet that I created and regularly update on my iPhone using Numbers.
I recently upgraded to version 1.5 of the Numbers app. Since then, one of my spreadsheets won't open - tapping on the file displays the progress wheel for a second and then nothing. The spreadsheet in question is 2.3Mb and contains a large number of formulae. All of my other spreadsheets are unaffected. When I try to send it to email / iTunes, etc. I see the message 'Send "(null)" to iTunes as:'. When I tap "Numbers", the screen displays a progress bar and "Sending...", but doesn't progress any further.
I used an application to recover the spreadsheet from the iTunes backup (http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=4974), renamed the resulting .numbers-tef filename as .numbers, but when I attempt to open the document in Numbers on my Mac, I receive the message 'The index.xml file is missing.'.
I also cannot import the retrieved file to my iPhone. After uploading the recovered document via iDisk and attempting to import on my iPhone, I receive the message 'Spreadsheet couldn't be imported. Numbers only supports documents saved with iWork '09.'
I opened the .numbers package and examined the index.db file and can see that it contains my data, but just can't figure out how to either:
get it on to my iPhone;
open it in Numbers on my mac.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

I received a message from the Apple team asking for a copy of the files I extracted. I have yet to hear back from them.
I did download and install the latest version of Numbers for iPhone - 1.6. The spreadsheet that I was having all the trouble with - that I had left on my iPhone - opened after a short delay and none of my data was lost.
I was also able to email the spreadsheet to myself and transfer it to iTunes without issue.
Problem solved!

Hey everybody
Some minutes ago, Numbers crashed and switched back to the Homescreen.
Nothing new so far - it happened everything hour.
BUT this Time, starting it up again, Numbers told me, that my Spreadsheet (Used just some seconds ago) cannot be opened anymore.
Also, a reboot of the iPad (iOS 3.2) couldn't change something!!!
Other - earlier created Spreadsheets - do Not have this problem at all!!! They can be opened correctly.
What can I do?
Can I recover my file?
Is it saved in the Backup file on my Mac because of the Sync?
Can I do something more than a reboot?

Try to sync the file with iWork.com, or E-Mail the file to yourself. You now know you have a copy of the file someplace else.
You should do a full backup/sync before doing anything else.
Delete the application from the iPad and then install it again (directly form the iPad, not using the Sync. Download it again from the App Store). Make sure the application starts up, then sync the iPad again. IF the document still won't open there are bigger issues. Try to import it from iWork or the E-Mail and that should fix it.

I have been using app. Numbers with my ipad2. I worked several pages on one of spreadsheets in Numbers. 2hours after that I cannot open that spreadsheet. Other spreadsheets are working fine. But only that spreadsheet!!! It says cannot be open. Why? I did reboot several times, however It did not work at all. What to do? please help me.

I cannot open my recent numbers documents because I get the message saying I need to download the latest version from the App Store although the App Store says I have the latest version (09 v2.03 is installed) I cannot do anything. I have tried quitting everything & restarting. Just keep getting the same error message and it refuses to open

Unfortunately, the preference in Finder's Get Info doesn't work for setting a default since the file names are identical. Some users here have gone into the Applications folder and changed the filename of one of the apps to distinguish them.
A decent workaround is to make sure you have Quite both Numbers apps and look to see if either is on the Dock. If so, drag the icon off the dock. Then use Spotlight to search for Numbers. Two apps will be found:
Numbers - Applications and Numbers - iWork. Choose Numbers - Applications by clicking on it to launch the app. When the Numbers icon shows up in the Dock, Right-Click the icon and choose Options > Keep in Dock.
Henceforth launch from the Dock rather than from the document. To open documents, you can use the File menu in Numbers, or you can drag the file to the Numbers icon in the dock.
I've read that if only one version of Numbers is running, that's the one that will be used if you simply double-click a document name or icon. I haven't confirmed that.

Cannot open Pages or Numbers on Megapack for iWork , Cannot open Pages or Numbers on Megapack for iWork

I purchased the Megapack for iWork & Office two days ago and cannot open Pages or numbers. I've been on to Apple support for 3 days now. They have told me to delete app and re-download it. Having done that, problem persists. I've also been told to contact Nick Maskill, the app developer, but the link they gave me to do this http://keytemplates.miniurl.org comes up blank.
This is driving me nuts........has anyone else had the same problem? Have you been able to contact the app. developer?
Your help with this would be very much appreciated.

I am having the exact same issue as you. I purchased and downloaded SpreadsheetPro and all that shows is a blank black screen. On the advice of ITunes, I deleted and downloaded again. Same issue exists. I have tried to contact Nick Maskill to no avail.
Interestingly it showed up in my Evernote App as a zipfile. Still could not open.
Have you had any resolution at all? I am at a loss and feel ripped off for $30

I found a fix. I opened up the document (either Page or Numbers) in Preview. Then under Edit I hit Select All and then Copy. Then I opened up Page or Numbers and opened a blank document. Then under Edit I hit Paste and Match Style. Then Save Document under new name.

I cannot open any spreadsheets on my iPad

I cannot open any spreadsheets in Numbers on my iPad. I can create new spreadsheets. If I try to delete a spreadsheet I get a message that I have to wait for the spreadsheet to finish updating. This has been going on for a few days now. Does anybody know how to fix this. I have thought maybe if I uninstalled and reinstalled Numbers, but I dont want to lose the spreadsheets that I have.

Try clearing Safari, close all apps on the iPad, reset the iPad and then try everything again.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data.
In order to close apps in iOS 7, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Logout of the app store and iTunes store: Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Go back to home screen and reset the phone by pressing the sleep/wake and home buttons together until the Apple logo appears then release them.
Once phone has finished rebooting go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store and login with your Apple ID and password again. Then open the iTunes Store app again.

I'm getting the same message. I created the spreadsheet on my iMac, saved to iCloud, but can't open it on my iPad. iPad 2, Numbers is updated and running iOS 7.0.2.

You will find that it is the size of the photos which are the problem. Give it time - let the wheel churn!
Other considerations -
Try sending her some to see what happens.
Get you wife to send a single photo to see what happens!
Finally, try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank power On again in the normal way.] It is absolutely/appsolutely safe!
