Cannot open page Safari cannot open the page because it could not establish a secure connection to the server

Hello Apple Experts!!
I Am Surendra and very new to this forum.. I just came across a problem with my Iphone while connecting to my company WIFI.. we are using Web authentication.. meaning..
The user will try to connect to the wireless network, the client will get the IP address and they are forced to open up the browser to provide the USERNAME and the PASSWORD on the webpage, once they pass the auth they will be able to access to the internet.
The WEB PAGE that asks for the USERNAME and the PASSWORD is HTTPS and for some reason that page is not at all opening and i am getting the below error.. If i disable HTTPS on the cisco Device the IPHONE works great..
Cannot open page Safari cannot open the page because it could not establish a secure connection to the server
This is happening only on the OS 5 and on the OS 4 everything works just great!!
I have a feeling that this has to do something to do with HTTPS / SSL connection with the IPHONE SAFARI or OS 5
Am connecting to Cisco Wireless LAN COntroller and the access point acting as the WIFI devices..
Any help on the same will be much appreciated!!
Regards
Surendra

I'm having a similar issue.  Connecting on my iPad FROM ANYWHERE to my work's domain results in the message by the OP.
I checked the ciphers enabled by their page, and this was returned:

This appeared to be a more than sufficient cipher list, yet my iPad won't load any page.  I highly doubt it's a problem with SSL2 not being enabled because SSL2 has been deprecated for awhile now.
Any ideas?

  • Hotspot login cannot open the page because it could not establish a secure connection to the server.

I am trying to connect to a public wifi network.  My iPad connects marvoulesly.  My iPhone not so much.  I have an iPhone 4 and everytime I go to connect, it goes to a pop up page where I'm supposed to click a link to adhere to their TOS.  When I get the pop up page I get "Hotspot login cannot open the page because it could not establish a secure connection to the server"
I've reset the network settings and nothing changed.  Same error message.  Any tips or tricks to fix this?  I'm laid up on bed rest in the hospital and would really rather that I not use all my data minutes...
    Thanks!

Updated to iOS6 on an iPhone 4 this morning, and now when I attempt to connect to my work wireless, it connects for a moment then attempts to popup some login page (I sometimes get the hotspot login error you've mentioned) and because the page doesn't exist I can't get connected to the wireless netowrk.
What the heck have apple broken in this update?
Why when joining a normal wireless network is my phone even going near a Login page? What is this and how do I disable it?
Oh, and I'm posting here because your suggestions of disabling the Wi-Fi and Cellular data netowkrs doesn't solve the problem.
[Edit: seems while typing this leaving the cellular data disabled, it's now letting my join wireless - seems to be some timeout on it fixing the issue - I'd still like to know what this login page is it's attempting to locate is for.]

  • How to update to ios6 when "could not establish a secure connection to the device" message appears with Jailbroken iPhone 4

    Hi all,
I've been trying to update my Jailbroken iPhone 4 to ios6 but, unfortunately, I keep getting the "could not establish a secure connection to the device" when connecting it to iTunes. I've tried updating "over the air" but this flags up an error too. Finally, I can't restore to a previous backup because, the backups I previously had, were stored on my old (broken) computer.
CAn anyone help? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Rakesh.

    You jailbroke your phone.
    Only google may help now.
    You'll find no help here.
    If Haiku you don't like,
Then to Google you should hike,
    You jailbroke your phone,
Now on these forums you are alone,
'Tis a day of no cheer,
    For we cannot help here.
In non-poem; You jailbroke your phone, which is not support by Apple, meaning updates will not work on it as they would if you were running official software.
As per the ToC for the device, and for these Discussion Boards (both you agreed too), you will not get support either from the discussion board, or from Apple directly.
Your best bet is to Google for help and learn a valuable lesson; Jailbreaking can definitely brick your phone.

  • This is an error from my HP scanner. How can I fix the problem? An error has occurred saving the file because it could not be written to. Check the properties for the file to make sure it is not read-only.

I recently uploaded the Maverick operating system. I wanted to scan some things on my HP Printer/Scanner and could not . This is the error message I received: An  error has occurred saving the file because it could not be written to.   Check the properties for the file to make sure it is not read-only. I am a novice with the computer and have no one to help. I hope someone knows an easy fix.
    Thank you

    This worked for me:
"Although it is not a 'fix' for the HP issue, I did find a workaround that helped me. In the Preferences Panel in MacOS X you can pull up the Printer/Scanner preferences and scan directly from OS X. I'd not known of this prior to posting here and it worked like a charm."
"Of course, HP should still update their software, but it's good to know that Apple has it covered for them."

  • Haveing problems with Safari. It gives me an error message. Safari can't open the web page, because it can't establish a secure connection to the server. It only seams to have a problem on https sites. Any help would be apreciated.

Safari keeps giving  and error message. " Safari can't open the web page( insert web page here) , because it can't establish a secure connetion to the server.
It only seams to have a problem with https sites.
    Any help would be appreciated

The "s" in "https" indicates the site is a secure server--usually a site that will require a password.  Connections to secure servers can be blocked by parental controls.  Are you using any parental controls, either through OSX's settings (in System Preferences) or third party parental control software (such as Netnanny)?  If so, check the settings to make sure they will allow the connection.

  • Safari 6 OS 10.8 Mountain Lion - can't establish a secure connection to the server

Hi everyone! I have difficulties with Safari 6 on OS 10.8 Mountain Lion... When i attempt to connect to various secure http sites, Safari will fail to connect, saying "safari can't open the page because safari can't establish a secure connection to the server" Other times, a small rectangle will appear within the address bar labelled https, and all will be well. It's quite random and irritating. To get it to word again, sometimes a relaunch does the trick, sometimes I have to reset safari. Is there something I can do?
    Thanks!

  • Establish a secure connection to the server?

I try to access email from a local internet provider. A text box appears that states "Safari can't open the page because it could not establish a secure connection to the server." Is this a Safari problem, internet provider problem? Thank you!

    emergencynurse,
Check the date and time on your iPhone in Settings -> General -> Date & Time. Make sure it is correct.
This indicates Safari was attempting to access a webpage with SSL (https://) and had an error. The most common cause of this on your end is date and time. However, it could be an expired certificate on the server, the date & time on the server or other issues.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • I can no longer access facebook from my macair and when i try the following error message appears "unable to establish a secure connection to the server.

I have had no issue accessing Facebook in the past using my MacAir.  Last night each time I would try and access the page, an error message would appear, saying that unable to establish a secure connection to the server "www.facebook.com"".  The problem continues this morning.  I have not updated any software or made any changes.  One minute it was working, the next it was not.  I do not have any parental controls; I have deleted the cookies; and I have reset safari.  I can access all other websites that I have tried.  I am using Version 6.0.4.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:  Remove All Website Data
    Then delete the cache.
Now open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If nothing above helped, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, restart your internet modem and router.  Then quit and relaunch Safari and try Facebook.

  • Couldn't establish a secure connection to the server

The following message is appearing every time I go to log into an account via a secure link.
Safari can’t open the page because it couldn’t establish a secure connection to the server
    I am running Mac OS X 10.3.9
    I have Reset Safari 1.3.2
    Removed all cookies
    Emptied my Cache
Contacted my ISP and isolated it is a software issue
I used Internet Explorer and I was able to log into secure web pages. Therefore it is only Safari that doesn't allow me to log into secure pages.
Do I need to reinstall my safari application using my Mac OS X Install Disc following the instructions listed in the manual under topic "Reinstalling the software That Came With Your Computer" heading "Installing Mac OS X and Applications"
Buy reinstalling Mac OS X I hoping it might fix the issue with Safari. I am thinking it is a software/application issue.
Is there anyway I can reinstall Safari without having to reinstall anything else and without making back up file from my hard drive.
How do you go about reinstalling Safari only?

    Hi
this is likely a keychain or settings issue rather than Safari....
but here is Safari from the 10.3.9 combo update.....
You'll need to choose the 'free' option, then unzip the file & drag the Safari app to your applications folder; then repair permissions, then run the 1.3.1 updater, then the 1.3.2 updater. Phew !!
maybe someone will upload the 1.3.2 version eh? I have tiger, so can't help directly

  • Can't establish a secure connection to the server

Safari loads ok and I can browse the internet. However, when i try to log on to 'my ebay'(and some other sites) I get the following error message:
Safari can’t open the page “https://signin.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn&Using…SAPI.dll%3FMyeBay%26MyeB ay%3D%26guest%3D1&pageType=1883” because it couldn’t establish a secure connection to the server “signin.ebay.co.uk”.
In the mean time I have downloaded Firefox and that is working really well.
Can anyone help repair my Safari?

I have the same issue although i kind of fixed it. I have two admin accounts and one of the account's safari did the same thing as yours, except, it was the startpage and everypage i tried to visit. I reseted safari, as in the erase all data safari in the toolbar, safari-Reset Safari... But safari still didn't work. I logged out and went to my other account and opened safari. Now it works fine on both accounts. This meant safari had to logout before actually working better. I have this a few times these days.

  • HP scanning error: "An error has occurred saving the file because it could not be written to..

HP scanning error: “An error has occurred saving the file because it could not be written to.  Check the properties for the file to make sure it is not read-only.” Dr. Google finds others with this problem.  Some claim that this is caused by an upgrade of Apple OS10 (which I did do).  One claims that HP has a "patch" for this problem. If I try to quit HP scan, it won't quit and freezes my computer. Here's the odd thing.  I have no problem scanning in a colored page from Scientific American either before or after this error (after rebooting each time), but simple black and white documents started just today to give the error message above.

Thank you for the link however if I understood all of the instructions I would still be reluctant to try this on my own especially from a third unknown party where some of the information may be wrong and/or lost in translation. (Google translation at the end of this comment). The instructions say to uninstall the software.  So if I uninstall the original HP software am I using the original disk to reinstall and then personalize again? What about all of the updates since I originally installed the software? I found the Disk Utility but what is "gatekeeper"And I am using OS X 10.9.1 that is current because I downloaded the latest upgrade.  How would I reinstall it?And at what point do I go to the URL for the software drivers and the patch? This is just not practical for someone who is not proficient in troubleshooting applications.I switched to Apple because I don't want to have to go through this kind of process, take my time to fix the application and potentially mess up my system .  WHy should I have to try to figure out how to retrieve the normal function in this case, of my All-In-One. If it is so simple why can't HP develop the fix and make it available? Unfortunately right now I have to find an alternative to scan some important business documents that are due today. Since I am using an older printer by technology standards even though it is working fine I may be looking for a replacement and HP may no longer be at the top of my list given that the problem appears to affect other HP models. No need to answer my questions,  I'm not going to try this fix based on these instructions. Please HP provide a fix for this problem with the scanner and MAC OS X 10.9.1 compatibility! Translation of the information on the suggested link: We hereby send you a guide that should help you in solving the problem .Please carry the following: 1 Please uninstall the software again .Goto -> Programs - > Hewlett -Packard - > HP Uninstaller 2 Please repair permissions on your Mac .Go -> Utilities -> Disk Utility - > Repair Disk Permissions . 3 Please disable ' gatekeeper ' on your Mac . 4 Reinstall the full software for MAC 10.6 and patch for 10.7 / 10.8 / 10.9. HP Scanjet Software and Drivers for Mac OS X v10.6 features :http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/ ? sp4ts.oid = 457 534 & spf_p.tpst = swdMain & spf_p.prp_swdMain = wsrp - navigationalState 3Di % dx % 253D % 257CswItem % 253Dsj_78355_5 % 257CswEnvOID % 253D219 % 257CitemLocale % 253D % 253D % % 257Cs wLang 257Cmode % 253D % 257Caction % 253DdriverDocument & javax.portlet.begCacheTok = com.vignette.cachetoken & javax.portlet.endCacheTok = com.vignette.cachetoken
