Cannot open photoshop files

All of a sudden I can neither open a file from my menu nor open while in Photoshop. All I get is the spinning wheel of death! I've trashed my Photoshop preferences, ran Cocktail, repaired permissions and restarted several times to no avail.
Can someone please help? I'm running CS2 on OSX 10.4.11

Thanks for your help. I didn't need to follow your suggestion though.
I went through the steps again (trashed preferences, ran cocktail) and it worked this time. The only thing different is that I disconnected my peripherals... not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Iphoto cannot open photoshop file in iphoto editor window

I use iphoto to capture raw images from my Nikon D70 and then I use photoshop CS2 to edit them. I recently edited a raw photo in CS2 and then saved it. The image showed up in iphoto, but I could not open it for further iphoto manipulation. I tried going back and saving it as a JPG, but I photo would simply display the pinwheel whenever I tried to open it in the iphoto editor window. Is there some reason that I am not able to open this image?

How did you edit the raw file with CS, from within iPhoto (having selected PS as the image editor to open in iPhoto's preferences) or from the Finder after finding the location of the file in the iPhoto Library folder?

Photoshop Elements 9 and cannot open Raw files from my Canon EOS 1000D camera.

I am using Photoshop Elements 9 on a Windows 7 based PC and would like to know why I cannot open Raw files produced by my Canon EOS 1000D camera.
I have checked the version of the plug in as 6.5 for raw files which is supposed to open .cr2 files and should be compatible according to Adobe site info.
any ideas for next move.

According to all of Adobe's charts, the Canon 1000D should be supported by the basic PSE 9 even without updates. When you said you checked the camera raw version in PSE, did you do that by going to the Help menu and selecting About plugins -> Camera raw?
The Canon 1200D requires ACR 8.4 which is only compatible with PSE 12 - so for PSE 10 your brother would need the DNG converter.
I can't find a sample raw file to try (I do have PSE 9). If you want to upload a sample file to dropbox and give me access, I could try it on my system.
Have you tried opening one of your files on your brothers system?

I cannot open a file from lightroom into CC2014 unless I open it as a smart object. CC opens, just will not display my image. i am given an error code when I save an image, and can only save to my desktop or other locations, not automatically back into my lightroom.
I am using LR5 latest update, as well as CC2014

I was also having this issue, and I did some more searching and found this answer in the Adobe forums: Re: Photos from Lightroom 5 to Photoshop CC (2014) and back.... The issue appears to be caused by having not updated Lightroom to the latest version prior to having CC2014 installed (wow that's stupid). The trick seems to be to uninstall Photoshop CC2014 and to then reinstall it after having upgraded to Lightroom 5.5.

What happens when you try to use the clone stamp tool?
It should work with the images side by side.
You can setup photoshop cc to be like photoshop cs2 was on your other mac, by going to Photoshop>Preferences>Interface and unchecking
Open Documents as Tabs and Enable Floating Document Window Docking
And also going to Window and unchecking Application Frame

Is it possible that the creator of the files set a password? That's usually the only time PSE asks for one, although you may be able to open the file just fine in a pdf program that isn't password-aware.

I have had a new computer, and am trying to download the Photoshop Elements 10 again, but I cannot open the file that I get after 20 minutes of downloading from here: Download Photoshop Elements products | 13, 12, 11, 10
In fact, I do have the installation CD as well, but when the set up gets just past the typing of the serial number, nothing more happens. The progress bar appears, but without any "bar" filling up, and the CD just runs and runs for ever.

Photoshop CC 2014 Cannot open .psd file because it's not a "photoshop document"

Right, straight to the case,
I was working on a very important file at work. I kept saving it at .psd (photoshop), then I also saved it as .esp and .pdf, just to be able to open then in AI.
Anyhow, after some saving, I had the .psd file ready and done so I closed it. Wen't to open it later to find out the it's not a photoshop document.
I've tried to repair it but even the repair apps can't read it. I'm 100% sure i saved it as .psd
Does anyone have a clue here of what could of have happen to it?

The file is nearly 300MB large.. so there must be something in it? any help would be MUCH appreciated

My first thought is retrieving a backup copy via Time Machine if you set that up.
Krita is a free app that I have seen open Photoshop files that even Photoshop could not open. There you may find the problem layer or flatten it.

Cannot open the file because the open options are incorrect

I'm trying to iterate through a folder of images, open each one of them, duplicate them into another photoshop file and close the individual image. This code works great on a PC (Photoshop CS3), but when I run it on our macs (Photoshop CS3) I will receive the following error on random images. "Error: Cannot open the file because the open options are incorrect" Does anyone know how to solve this problem? I've read about possibly setting the OpenDocumentType but have not seen an example anywhere. This error will sometimes occur after loading in one image or sometimes after 20 images. Sometimes I run it on the same directory multiple times all with various points of error. Sometimes every images is loaded. Any help would be much appreciated. Sample code is below.

It looks as if the folder contains non Photoshop files, one way around the problem would be to change
var fileList = inputFolder.getFiles();
To specify the file types you want to process IE:

Cannot open inlcude file carbon/carbon.h

Hey guys,
This is my first plug-in, and I'm running into this problem where visual studio 2013 is complaining about an inactive preprocessing block that is trying to call <Carbon/Carbon.h>. Aside from having trouble with some of the additional include files not being found (which I crudely got around), this seems to be its only complaint. I can't find a carbon.h anywhere. But more importantly, carbon.h shouldn't be getting called in the first place, as far as I can tell. The error is:
error RC2188: ...\pluginsdk\\photoshopapi\\photoshop\\PIActions.h(54) : fatal error RC1015: cannot open include file 'Carbon/Carbon.h'.   ...\pluginsdk\samplecode\automation\isiauto\\photoshopapi\\photoshop\\pica_sp\\SPConfig.h
in PIActions.h, the chunk of code it seems to not like is:

Ok, since you're using VS2013 I'll assume you're on a PC...if not, ignore all after.
(Pseudo-)grepping on the SDK shows that MSWindows gets set true two places, PIActions (line 34) and PITypes (line 35), assuming in both cases that you left the WIN32 default define alone and it isn't defined already somewhere upstream.
It gets set false in PIRezMachO and PIRezPEF, both of which are (I think) Mac-only files. (There's another one but it includes carbon.h itself, so that's not in play.) And since your error comes from the Resource Compiler, they're reasonable suspects.
Maybe you picked up something from one of the 'Mac' subdirectories under samplecode instead of 'Win' when you were looking for code to steal. :-) At any rate it thinks you're on a Mac, so that gives you something to look for.
If you get bored, you can join the cricket chorus of people looking at (and not answering) my newbie SDK questions...
