Cannot open ports on Sonicwall TZ 215

Use the wizard for a public facing server. It will create the address objects and ports you specify as well as the associated rules.

I have been battling with a new sonicwall tz 215 for 3 days now trying to simply get a port open to allow web traffic through. I have tried every tutorial, watched every youtube video, used the wizards all to no avail. I am switching out a cisco rv042 for this device. It is currently configured and works so I know that the internal machine and the ISP are allowing the proper actions to occur. When I look at the log it says Web Request Dropped. I have also used various port checkers and no matter what I can't get a single port to show open.I have restored the Sonicwall back to factory multiple times and started the process over from scratch just to make sure I don't have any rules or whatever that would prevent ports from being opened. Has anyone battled with a sonicwall device before and possibly have any other tips / suggestions? Is...

  • Cannot open ports!

    Hello,
I thought I should come here as a last resort so here I go...
I have been using a WRT54G for quite some time, I find it does the job smoothly and quickly...
However, I cannot open ports (or at least a specific one)...
I am looking to host a game server on the port '43594'. I went though the router settings and "Applications and Gaming" and enabled the port...
    However 'canyouseeme.org' says:
Error: I could not see your service on 58.178.203.117 on port (43594)
    Reason: Connection timed out
Any leads as to why this is? It's a small Java game by the way, so not a major server. Could it actually be my modem? (which is not a linksys so I wont ask)..
Could it be my ISP? iPrimus?
Sorry if I can't explain well...
If you need more information, just tell me what your looking for.

Try updating your firmware then reset the defualt settings and reconfiguring it.  If all fails set your PC as the DMZ if you have to.  It sounds like you are doing everything you need to.  I have hosted a few on-line dedicated game servers using this basic configuration.

  • RV215W inbound rules with control ip - cannot open port 25

I have the exact same router, exact same firmware and the this exact same problem.  I cannot open port 25 and specify a range of IP addresses.  This is simply not working.  What do we have to do to get this to work correctly?  When I port forward the SMTP service it allows all IP's and works fine.  When i try to use an Access Rule, it does not work.  Can someone from CISCO help please?  Thanks,

It's not just single port forwarding that has bugs, the entire router has bugs and simply does not work as advertised. I have found the following bugs/aspects of this router that just does not work correctly: 1. If you have to open ports, and who doesn’t, this router will eventually stop accepting packets from WAN>LAN. You will still have Internet access but no open ports. A reboot will fix this problem. Oh, by the way, this router has no scheduled reboot option! ••ßThat would be a workaround but a welcome one for this router. 2. Firewall Access rules do not work!! Yep, a Cisco router and basic functionality simply does not work. I called Cisco and even though the tech saw the router not working denied it was a bug! Said we have to do port mirroring, setup a workstation with WireShark and capture packets so we can debug the issues! I told him I would have appreciated if Cisco would have debugged the issues with their router BEFOR they shipped the units. Stay away from Cisco Small Business Routers. I wish I had. And if there are any Cisco die-hards out there willing to prove me wrong, just reply to this and please, prove me wrong that the RV series and specifically the RV215W is not JUNK.

  • Cannot open port through Airport Extreme to access security system DVR

I have internet access through Bellsouth DSL -- modem only. We had a security system set up around a DVR recording images and connected to the internet through a Linksys router. We would use a client on outside computers to connect to the security system dvr and see what was happening (live or recorded). I switched out the Linksys for the Airport Extreme, and now we cannot connect to the DVR.
Do I need to manually open a port to the DVR? How do I do this? The DVR connects to the Airport Extreme via Ethernet, and as far as I can tell, the Airport Extreme connects to the DSL modem via Ethernet using DHCP. We have a static IP address. I thank you in advance for any answers, and I apologize if I'm not giving enough information.

Let's double-check your Port Mapping setup on the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) ...
To setup port mapping on an 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), either connect to the AEBSn's wireless network or temporarily connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to one of the LAN port of the AEBSn, and then use the AirPort Utility, in Manual Setup, to make these settings:
    1. Reserve a DHCP-provided IP address for the host device.
    Internet > DHCP tab
o On the DHCP tab, click the "+" (Add) button to enter DHCP Reservations.
o Description: <enter the desired description of the host device>
o Reserve address by: MAC Address
    o Click Continue.
o MAC Address: <enter the MAC (what Apple calls Ethernet ID if you are using wired or AirPort ID if wireless) hardware address of the host computer>
    o IPv4 Address: 10.0.1.4
    o Click Done.
    2. Setup Port Mapping on the AEBSn.
    Advanced > Port Mapping tab
o Click the "+" (Add) button
o Service: <choose the appropriate service from the Service pop-up menu>

  • Telnet - cannot open port 23, connect failed

I'm having problems with Telent and Window 7. Telnet works, however on one piece of OLD legacy computer UNIX system, it fails. I experienced this same problem on Windows XP, but there was a registry fix for it. This same fix does not work on Windows 7.
The unix system does use port 23....anyone have a solution?
Below was the registry fix that fix this problem on Windows XP.
    REGEDIT4
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]
    "SackOpts"=dword:00000
    "Tcp1323Opts"=dword:00000

    Hi Milos...
(edited...added more information at the bottom). I have encluded some parameters off the unix machine.
    Thanks for helping me out.
I tried PUTTY... I configured the Telnet for every possible combinations and the at didn't work either.
When you say the CurrentControlSet1 is not effective...can you please give me more details.
As I mentioned in my original POST....I had this same problem with windows xp....but the registry fix shown allowed Telnet to work. I don't know why its not working in Windows 7. I was reading that Windows 7 has Auto Windowing and I'm working if perhaps
the negoation isn't taking place. This is an old unix platform and I'll have to check to see if there is any monitoring applications...but off hand I can't think of any.

  • I get the error "Cannot open port" when I want to display the directory content of one FTP servers with LabVIEW's internet toolkit functions. What is the problem? I'm logged on on the server.

Is anyone experimenting this kind of problems or has resolved it? Thanks. I use LabVIEW 6.1 with Windows 98.

    Squish,
This forum is for CAN questions. I would strongly urge you to repost your question to the LabVIEW General category and this is a LabVIEW question.
Also, does the FTP Browser shipping example that comes with the Internet Toolkit work? If it does, then I would suggest studying that example. If it does not, then I would suggest reposting your question and giving much more detail about which VI is giving you the error and a general overview of the program.

  • How can I open ports on my AirPort Extreme, from WINDOWS?

I have an Airport Extreme as my router, and I have a Windows-based computer. I need to open ports on the router (ironically, it is for my Apple TV).
However, even though I can use the Airport Utility for Windows (latest version 5.5.3), I cannot open ports from the application.
Everywhere I look, I am supposed to have a firewall tab in the Advanced section, but I do not have it. The only tabs that I have in Advanced are:
    Logging and Statistics
    MobileMe
    IPv6
How can I open ports on my Airport Extreme router from Windows?

Is your AirPort Extreme the only router in your network configuration?

  • Dynamic Send Port : The FILE send adapter cannot open file C:\Temp for writing. Details: Access is denied.

    Hi All,
We have requirement of using ESB toolkit and transforming incoming xml file to edi format. So, we are using ItinerarySelectReceiveXML pipeline for receiving the input from the input location and "EDISend" pipeline for transforming it into EDI and
    send it to destination.
Now, the receive pipeline is picking up the file, but it is not processed and sent to destination.
And, we are getting an Access Denied error from Dynamic send port.
    Error Description :
The FILE send adapter cannot open file C:\Users\Public\Temp for writing.
     Details: Access is denied.
    Any Immediate solutions/suggestions are appreciated...Thanks.
    Anand

The difference between dynamic and static port would be send handler. For dynamic port, default send handler will be used and for static port the one configured on the port will be used, could you validate this configuration.
Also sometimes, administrative privileges are not "real" administrative privileges and company admins will have limited permissions on C Drive folders. Try writing to some other folder to isolate the issue.

  • FTPEx: 425 Possible PASV port theft, cannot open data connection..

    Hi All,
I am getting the below the error while comminicating to FTP server.
Delivery of the message to the application using connection File_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Possible PASV port theft, cannot open data connection.: com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 425 Possible PASV port theft, cannot open data connection..
This error is random. Some times service is working is fine and some times its failed to process.
Can any one suggest me the peramnent solution for this.
    Thanks & regards,
    Kartikeya

    Hi
The reason for the error is
The ip address (+port) is not same for both these operations
        - Control connection
        - Data Connection
Changing active/passive mode settings might help (as a common solution).
Problem can occur due to below settings,
       - FTP server/ Firewall on its side (affects Passive Mode)
       - FTP client/ Firewall on its side (affects Active Mode)
After Initial Control connection is made, the below happens for Data connection
When Active, the CLIENT opens a dynamic port for DC on which it would be listening, for the server to bind its source port
When Passive, the SERVER opens a dynamic port for DC on which it would be listening for the client to bind its source port
when the firewall on Server side does not have these ports open, you get the above error.
The error could be because of other reasons also, but I suspect that the dynamic port is out range of the ports opened at your FTP server firewall.
So now I think you are one step forward to fix the issue
    Regards
    Vishnu

  • Customer cannot open all the ports - MAP 9.5

    Hi,
Taking an inventory using MAP 9.5.
Customer cannot open all the ports.
    135-139 and 445 are open.
We are still not getting any success [just 3% inventory success]. Further only those machines are listed in WMI Success which are in the same subnet as the machine on which MAP is running.
We are using Inventory Scenario>Windows computers and Discovery Methods >AD + Scan IP range.
    Is there any alternate method?
    Thanks.

  • Cannot open local port whatever

    Hi,
I've just downloaded AVTransmit2.java and AVReceive2.java from this website's JMF tutorial and am having a little trouble getting both classes to communicate.
I have two Command Prompt windows open and I'm trying something like
    java AVTransmit2 file:C:\Whatever.au ipaddress(my machine's IP) 4000
    java AVReceive2 ipaddress(my machine's IP)/4000
Whatever process I run first, the second process then tells me that it cannot open local port 4000, even though this is the port that both processes are meant to communicate on. Should I be using two different machines to communicate?
Sorry to bug everybody with this problem, it's probably been posted before but some advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Err, well, if they are both acting as servers, that's right. If you are running them on the same machine, then the first one takes port 4000 and the second one can't use it. I would think they would take 2 sets of IP and port, one for it's server port, one for it to connect to the other side...
however, I wouldn't think that the transmitter app would be using a server port. You should be starting the receiver first.
Or something else is using that port. Another receiver you started but didn't start, maybe? Some other app? It shouldn't matter what port you use. Try something else (4001, 4002, etc).

  • Open ports in zones

I am encountering a strange behavior in new zones created using zonemgr 2.0.6 (this is the only way I create zones, so I do not know if the issue is more general). When I create a new zone, two strange things are happening:
    1. Immediately after the zone is created, no services are running, not even ssh

The Leopard OS X firewall is application based and not port based. Honestly, I haven't played with it enough to know for certain how to answer your question.
But... when you do connection sharing, you're essentially doing a port based NAT for the systems on the other side of your Mac. This pretty much keeps you from initiating anything to the other system even without a local firewall unless you were to configure port forwarding.
As for blocking packets, you would need to use the 'ipfw' command to do things at the port level.

  • I have a dvr and I want to monitor from my phone.  this worked when I had a Belkin router that let me open ports.  I use "canyouseeme" and it can't see 80, 9000 or 1025. How do I make them available?

I have a Lorex DVR that I want to monitor from my IPhone and IPad.  I used to be able to do this when I had a Belkin router (easy to open ports) but I bought the AirPort Extreme router and no longer have that capability.  When I use "canyouseeme" they can NOT see 80, 9000 or 1025.  Lorex says I need them all available in order to access.  Help!  And all the help I see refers to a earlier version of the AirPort Utility so I cant use those to look at anything, I cant find the same screens, I have version 6.1 (610.31).  I also don't really understand how ports work, so I need a pretty basic explanation.

Well...I went to the modem (Westell, WireSpeed), found the NAT settings, once again, I'm WAY over my head, I am assuming this is a TCP connection (as opposed to a UDP) and per Lorex my mobile devices will use port 1025.  So I gave it a "global port range" of 1-10 and I indicated that the "base host port" was 80, 1025, & 9000 (ports 1,2,3).  When I selected the 'enable' it asked for a "host devise" my choices are my IPhone, IMac and the IP address for the dvr, so I choose the dvr.  I still cannot connect and canyouseeme still can NOT find these open ports.  This is taking up my whole day! I don't know how people figure this stuff out.

  • "Safari cannot open the page – 'too many redirects'"

    Problem
iPad issue impacting our secure website clients. Error message reads “Safari cannot open the page – ‘too many redirects’”
    History:
Recently, some of our secure website clients using Mac/Safari 4.0.5 faced issues, all related to one common problem that went away with Safari 5.0 & Mac OS updates. On all the three occasions, we observed that the error occurred when the HTTPS redirects contained the port number in the URL. During our discussions with Applecare personnel (case number was 350144) we understood that there have been problems with Safari 4.0.5 "not being able to handle port numbers in the URL properly". The issue went away with the launch of Safari 5 and Mac OS updates which followed the browser release.
Understandably, the resolution to the issue was fairly opaque and if I were to hazard a guess on what the problem could have been it should probably be something to do with Safari not being able to read cookies after these redirects.
    Questions
    1) Have any of you encountered such a problem on Mac/Safari 4.0.5 and are now facing on iPad?
    2) Any workarounds / solutions / learning that you have come across and can share
    Thanks!!

    Hi and welcome...
On a Mac. HTTPS redirects can be the result of proxies. Open System Preferences / Network. Click: Advanced tab then click: Proxies
If any of the boxes on the left under: *Select a protocol to configure* are selected, deselect, click OK.
Here's just one example of the HTTPS / Proxy issue: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12255869&#12255869
