Cannot open Robohelp 8 project in Robohelp 9

I cannot open my old Robohelp 8 projects from Robohelp 9. When I open it, it shows me a prompt to make a backup and upgrade the project. Then I click Upgrade, it returns an error:
"open project was cancelled or the application was unable tp load the database for   <path to my project>"
Creating or opening new projects in the 9 format works fine.
The old Robohelp project was created on a different PC. I just copied the whole folder to a new PC with Robohelp 9. The oroject is not corrupted  I can still open it on my old PC with RH8.
Any suggestions how to fix that?
Thanks

There isn't a Save As option but usually it is as simple as copying the project from one location to another.
No it doesn't write an absolute path as if it did that, none of us could move projects.
Do you have a second machine (not with SSD) that you can install RoboHelp 9 on in trial mode? With that you could perhaps put the project on an external hard disk and prove it works there as it does for me?
Are you copying just the project out of your profile? So C:\Users\XXXXX\Documents\My RoboHelp Projects\Project1 becomes D:\Project1. If not, try that.
After moving, getting the error and trashing the CPD, do you get the error again if you reopen after that?

I just upgraded to OS X Yosemite and now I cannot open an existing project in ibooks author

The Quicken issue has been a hot topic in the Quicken forum as well as many others.  Intuit did not provided an updated Quicken when Lion came out.  I believe that within the past month Intuit has announced a version that does work in Lion, I looked into it, but was not impressed; there were some technical issues that prevent me from using it (don't recall the details though).  Fortunately, I found out about the Quicken mess when Lion came out, and like many users, migrated the quicken data files over to a common format that could be imported into a number of new financial apps like iBank.  Intuit lost a lot of Mac users over this.
As for Excel and Word, you have to buy Microsoft's newest version of Office on Mac to be compatible.

  • Cannot Open Existing Files (Projects) in Garageband

GB projects created only weeks ago are not listed in 'recent projects' so I click on 'Open an Existing File'. I can see the file but the Open button remains shaded. I tried opening by clicking Control/Open in Garageband - I get message "Output.AIF could not be opened. Garageband cannot open files in the AIFF-C audio format. I'm confused by this because I created these projects just weeks ago in Garageband but just had not opened them recently. I've had no upgrades performed software or otherwise. Naturally I would like to open and continue working these aging projects that I've already spent hours creating. I am hopeful someone has an easy fix for me.
    Thank you.

Thank you for responding Christopher, I really appreciate your time.
Turns out I was able to open via viewer, though I had done same earlier, this time it worked and opened the project window. I'm concerned about GB becoming unstable however, as I used to be able to open projects that aged off the 'recent projects' window directly by clicking 'open other existing files'. So, for now I will live with using the viewer. At least I didn't lose those hours of composition. I have ordered iLife '11, hopefully this will serve to enhance GB and create more stability.
Thank you again for helping me.

  • Cannot open old iMovie project

I have an old iMovie project from 2008 that I cannot open.
If I double-click it, terminal opens.
Recommended applications are Textwrangler, Terminal.... not really the right thing to watch a movie.
Final Cut Pro X cannot read the file, because it's in the "bundle" format. Quicktime is also grayed out.
Is this some weird format that is no longer readable by anything? Or can I turn it into an .mp4 file?
    Thanks.

iMovie doesn't support importing one iMovie project to another. When we try, we get exactly the error you quoted.
You can, however, import all the Timeline video and audio as a single clip to a new project. Or you can drag files from the Media folder of the project to the Timeline of a NEW project.
In the Finder, Control-click on the project icon and choose Show Package Contents from the popUp menu. You'll see the movie "Timeline Movie.mov" in the window that opens. You want to import that movie to a new project, or import selected files in the Media folder.
To import, drag the file to the Timeline of a NEW iMovie project. If importing the Timeline Movie, everything on the Timeline of the original project will arrive as a single clip in the new project.
If the project failed on the external drive, it may be because the disk does not use the disk format required by iMovie. Use Disk Utility to check the disk format, which must be "Mac OS Extended". If it's not that format, use Disk Utility to reformat the drive. (Which will erase all the files on the drive, so make backups.)

  • BUG in PE 13- cannot open and save projects from PE11!!!!!!!

For 1 month I'm requesting a TECH Support to resolve a BUG in Adobe Premiere Elements 13 that cannot load and save projects from PE11. I already provided all details several times (about my PC system & exact steps to reproduce a problem, etc) & posted in this PE forum as well.
Adobe is the WORST company I have ever came across that shows NO SUPPORT for its clients. Not only they don't have a phone line, but lacking in providing its clients with other channels to contact Tech Support (if such exists??) via emails or a chat. It is unheard of that a company would SELL its products, collected money & then had NO responsibility to correct problems they introduced. SHAME on you! I will post this opinion in Facebook and everywhere. I will warn people they should beware on spending money on Adobe horrible products where a company refuses even support these products and where a company only relies  on common users who also already spent money and now experiencing all sort of problems. Unbelievable!
Adobe team, if you are not helping with resolving your last bugs, you should at least send me a link for the old PE11 that I could finish my projects. I hope that someone will finally contact me

  • Cannot Open Existing iMovieHD Project

When I try to open an existing project, one that has 45GB of video editing in it, I get the message:
'A PROJECT FILE IS MISSING' and in smaller case the following:
"The file "still05.dv" couldn't be opened and is being skipped. Click " ignore all"to skip any remaining file messages."
Trying the IGNORE ALL procedure, as well as doing one clip at a time, another message appears:
"THE APPLICATION iMOVIE HD QUIT UNEXPECTEDLY. mac osx and other applications are not affected."
I ran a permissions and disk repair on my HD and everything is in working order. I have also gone to my preferences and trashed the 'iMovie plist" and the iPhoto plist. I estimate that there are about 6 clips that are causing the problem, but I can't get at them to correct it. Thes clips contain still photo and video data. I would be willing to sacrifice all of this to save the 45 minutes of almost finished video on the timeline viewer.
I have taken this problen to the local Apple Store Genius Bar, but they couldn't come up with any solution to save this project.
(I have a semi-edited file of this project saved on LaCie)

    Susan:
In case you missed it, the following might help you. Karl's first suggestion didn't work for me, but you might give it a try. The Quicktime solution I'll try later today. Good luck!
You're in virgin territory, Robert, so I doubt anyone has much of a clue. But for what it's worth...
    • iMovie HD wouldn't normally use "still05.DV" as a Media file name. It would use "Still 05.dv" instead. If it is in fact looking for "still05.DV" that may be a clue. So confirm the name.
    • It sounds like iMovie is trying to open the project as it should (in spite of not finding those files), but it's crashing because it's encountering a corrupt file. If one of the "missing" files is a corrupt file, you might try removing it/them from the project. They are in the Media folder of the project. (To look inside the project, Control-click on the project icon and choose "Show Package Contents" from the popUp menu.) Drag the file(s) outside the project package. Then trying to open the project.
I suggest doing that ONLY on a backup of the project.
    • You also might want to try opening the project.mov in QuickTime Player. Look for the "Timeline Movie.mov" inside the "Cache" folder of the project package. Double-click on it to open it in QT Player and try playing it there. Try this before removing Media files.
    • If the Timeline Movie.mov plays okay, you can import it to a new iMovie HD project. Everything from the old project will arrive in the new project as a single clip. Not the most convenient, but everything will be there and play in the proper order.
    • Or use Timeline Movie.mov to see what order to import Media files to a new project.

  • Cannot open an iMovie project file

I can no longer open an iMovie project file from my external hard drive. Other iMovie projects on the hard drive can be opened, but not my main project. I've transfered it back to my MacBook Pro and then tried importing it into a new project, but I get an error -43 message about Quicktime not able to 'parse' the file. I have also tried Lennart Thelander's "File Fixer" but this still does not open the file. File icon and file size (39.02GB) seem to be the same as when the file could be opened. Is there a way to recover this file?
    Merci

  • Cannot open my latest project

Been working for weeks on this new movie project. Almost complete. 1hr 20 min or so. Have had the usual odd bugs now and then but never encountered what happened just a few hours ago. When I try to open my saved project (which is stored on my LaCie 1 TB ext. drive), I see it starts loading, then all of sudden the imovie application icon shuts off and I can't view my project. I've tried re starting both the iMac and the drive but to no avail. Is my project likely "corrupted" ? What are the options. Thanks

I would try the oft applied maintenance of deleting preferences and doing a permissions repair. To delete preferences, close iMovie and trash the file named com.apple.iMovie.plist found in User (the house icon)/Library/Preferences. Then do a permissions repair using the Disk Utility app found in HD/Applications/Utilities. In the left hand pane of the Disk Utility window seclect your hard drive icon and then click on repair permissions. Takes about 3 minutes to repair. Then relaunch iMovie and see if you still have the problem. iMovie will recreate the .plist file that you deleted.

  • Cannot open a single project after disabling support for project professional 2007

We use SharePoint/Project Server 2010.  I have a single project on the Project Server (PS) that fails to open in Project Professional (PP). The project is editable in PWA, but PP closes it as soon as it opens it (ie that's what the status window is
displaying, I basically get a blank screen in PP after "opening" the project, and when closing it does not have anything to save/check in). The only recent change I made was disable PP 2007 support.  I reviewed several posts so here are
some thoughts: I am currently not using backups, so cannot restore, the server name is already in the trusted list.  Any way to retrieve this project from the server (or directly from DB)?

    Hi Wwodzien,
It might be because of duplicate RES_OPTINDX values. Please install following KB and check the behaviour.

Note:- I would suggest you to test this in a test environment first.

  • I get the message "Cannot open because this project was created with a newer version" whereas I do have the latest 2014 version installed on my PC

To provide all the info, I have created this project on my Desktop with Mercury engine and I'm now trying to open it on my laptop on which I don't have a powerful graphic card - ad therefore no Mercury Engine. Could that be the problem? Thanks.

Open Premiere on you desktop and your laptop and check the build which is under Help/About Adobe Premiere Pro.
MPE has no part in this.

  • Cannot open the team project page under browse

    Hi
After I create a team project in DefaultCollection, then I modify the name of the collection, which are all successful. I open
http://localhost:8080/tfs/ under Browse, I click the team project name, an error page is displayed: "Error
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable."  How can I handle it? Thanks.

    Hi shimly,
After rename your team project collection, you have to start the collection before you can use it. For your scenario, you can clean team foundation cache and the browser cookies before you access the team projects in the team project collection.
You can also use http://localhost:8080/tfs/TeamProjectCollectionName/TeamProjectName to try to access your team project.

  • I cannot open a CS6 project.

    Hi,
I have build a project in CS6 and it was working fine until late last night.
When I try to open it, it get to 81% and then stops. The software then crashes if I try to do anything.
I have deleted some of the source file the project it useing but this should not stop it from opening.
    Regards
    matt

    That usually happens when
    a) the media cache is corrupted
    b) some source file is currupted
    c) an effect fails to initialize

  • I cannot open my imovie project

I just reinstalled leopard, before I formated my macbook pro, I copied my imovie project files and events to an external harddrive. My question is, how do I load them in imovie now? Which folder and files should I copy from my backup? Thanks Alex

You must move everything back to where it was on your internal drive, and then move it from within iMovie. If you are short on space, you can do this one Event at a time. Be sure iMovie is closed when you move it back, then restart iMovie so it will recognize it.
The reason you need to move your projects and events back relates to the architecture of iMovie. The video files are in the Event. The project consists of a text file of instructions that are executed when the project is shared. The project expects to find the Event file where it was when you created the project in iMovie. If you move the Event file from within iMovie, the Project file is updated with pointers to the new location. If you move the Event file in the Finder, iMovie has no way to know where the Event has gone.

  • Cannot open a new project in Premiere 10

I just installed Elements 10 (from disks).  When I try to start a new project in Premiere 10 though, it initializes and starts loading until it gets to "Loading ImporterQuickTime.prm".  Then it just stops and nothing happens.  I have Windows 7 (64bit).  Elements and Organizer seem to work fine.  Can anyone help?

Sorry that nothing has worked so far.
What version of Apple's QT Player do you have installed?
Usually, several versions of PrE can coexist quite nicely, with not an issue. Now, as for the date of the file, maybe Steve, or someone with PrE 10, can check out the date of their ImporterQuickTime.prm, to see when it was written, as can often happen, a program might use an older file, if nothing has changed. Also, PrE 10 was coded more than a year ago now
What is the date, and file size of your ImporterQuickTime.prm?
    Good luck,
    Hunt
