Cannot open the Domain file in iWeb, Mavericks

Hello world of !
I just formatted the MacBook Pro, performing a clean instal of Mavericks. Having a HDD and a SSD into the machine, the Domain file of my iWeb sites was saved on the HDD while the OS and the apps are running on the SSD. The problem that I now have is that whenever I try to open the Domain file and get to my websites, the iWeb opens anew, with no website inside, inviting me to choose a template to create a new one.
Any hint as to how to get to my websites?
Thank you all in advance!
A Mac user from Romania!

To open your domain file in Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks or Yosemite or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script"/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"
delay 1
tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. The script modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files if desired.
NOTE:  once the domain file has been opened the first time you won't need the iWeb Switch Domain app again until you decide to switch domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.
NOTE: for Mavericks, 10.9 ,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:

In Lion the Finder folder is now invisible.  To make it permanetely visible enter the following in the Terminal applicaiton window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Mac Word 2008 - hyperlink message "Word cannot open the specified file"

I'm using WordMac 2008 version 12.2.5 and after following detailed instructions on how to hyperlink chapters in a Table of Contents to their respective chapters in a book, I can only get the message "Word cannot open the specified file".
Any ideas what could be wrong?
    My OSX is 10.5.1.
The instructions I followed are pasted below and are copied from the Smashwords Style Guide: http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/52
START OF PASTE FROM SMASHWORDS STYLE GUIDE:
How to create a linked Table of Contents. Consider this feature in “beta.” My
thanks to Smashwords author Cheryl Anne Gardner for sharing these tips below,
which I have augmented based on my own experience adding a ToC to the Style
    Guide (woo hoo!).
By adding a linked table of contents, you can help readers navigate your
document. This is especially useful for non-fiction. Most fiction doesn’t
need it. If you follow the instructions below, the ToC should work in your
EPUB, MOBI and PDF files, but it will not work in our other formats.
First, create your table of contents where you want it by typing it out. Make
sure the text is normalized just like the rest of your Smashwords’ Word
    document. Example:
    Contents
    Chapter 1
    Chapter 2
    Chapter 3
    Chapter 4
    Etc.
Next, we are going to create the BookMarks. In Word 2000, 2003 and 2007, the
Booksmark function is under the Insert tab. Go through your document, and at
each Chapter Start or Indexed item, you will highlight it and then select
Insert: bookmark. Name your bookmark corresponding to the Chapter/Indexed
item and then click add. It’s very important to use the first word of your
heading you’re linking to, because later on, when you add the hyperlinks,
Word displays the bookmark shortcuts in alphabetical order. With many
bookmarks, I found many of my bookmarks weren’t labeled properly, so it was
tough to link to the correct bookmark. If you want to link to a chapter named
How to Publish Ebooks, I’d recommend naming your bookmark
“HowToPublishEbooks” to make it easy to locate. If you instead name it,
“publishebooks,” you’ll frazzle your brain and make mistakes.
Repeat the process above for every Chapter Start as well as for other matter
in the book like index, bibliography, epilogue, prologue, etc. I didn’t link
to every section in the Style Guide, because otherwise the ToC would have
been three pages long. This is your call.
Next, return to your table of contents and highlight the word “Contents.”
Click insert, bookmark, and label this last bookmark “Contents”. Formatting
note: Bookmarks cannot have spaces or odd characters. If instead of
“Contents” you called the label in the document Table of Contents, as I did,
then when you insert the bookmark, name the bookmark “TableofContents,” one
    word, or “toc.”
Next, add the hyperlinks to your Chapter Starts. In your table of contents,
if Chapter 1 is called Chapter 1, then highlight Chapter 1 and then click
insert Hyperlink. As you can see in the Style Guide, I tried to use more
descriptive labels. In Word’s Hyperlink menu on the left hand side, select
“Place in this document.” You will now see your bookmarks listed in the main
window. Select Chapter1 bookmark (or whatever you labeled it) and then click
ok. Do this procedure for every chapter and piece of matter in the table of
    contents.
Final step. Now you can link back to the Table of contents. Move through your
document to each indexed item or Chapter start and highlight it. Then click
insert, hyperlink, and then select “Place in this document.” When the
bookmarks are showing in the main window, select the bookmark labeled
“Contents,” assuming that’s what you named your Table of Contents. Do this
for each and every chapter and or indexed item.
After you are done, all your links will be underlined. You will need to test
and make sure you linked everything properly. In most Word versions, you just
click on the hyperlink to test. In Word 2007, you may need to Ctrl-Click each
hyperlink and make sure it takes you where you need to go in the document.
Advice: Word has an automatic ToC generation feature under the reference tab.
Do not use this. It uses automated headings and formatting to generate the
ToC and this will un-normalize your text and cause font conversion issues in
    your Smashwords files.
END OF PASTE FROM SMASHWORDS STYLE GUIDE.
I did all that as described but I still get the message "Word cannot open the specified file".
    Could you help please?

This question would be better addressed to...
    http://www.microsoft.com/mac/help.mspx
I think the operative phrase from that article is...
    *Consider this feature in “beta.”*

  • IMAQ Create for compressed .avi - cannot open the new file afterwards with IMAQ Open

    Hi there,
i hope i'm in the right board.
I recently tried to compress avi-files i collected from various cameras throughout the last years.
At first i used VDub and ffdshow with a FFVH codec - it worked fine as long as i won't try to open the compressed avi using IMAQ Open.
I googled a bit and read a lot in these forums, tried several solutions - none of them worked.
So i gave it a last, let's call it fail-proof, try:
I took the original .avi (uncompressed, openable with IMAQ Open) and used my newly gained knowledge to use LV for the compression work, i chose from IMAQ AVI Get Filter Names the ffdshow Video Codec and built a small read-write for-loop to convert the AVI frame for frame.
All worked fine despite the problem, that i still cannot open the compressed file in IMAQ Open - and i do not know why.
I would be glad to force labview to decode and open the compressed file with a certain codec, but i found no option for this.
    Thanks in advance
    Markus
    P.S.
I'm using LabView 2010 and VAS of 02/2014.

  • I download last update numbers. Now I cannot open the previous files. The screen asked to upload. How to solve this problem?

The screen  asked to donwload the new numbers program. I already have done it. I cannot open the previous files. How to solve this problem?

If by the "screen asked to upload" you mean you see a message to upgrade Numbers, then probably what is happening is that you have two versions of Numbers on your Mac, the new version in the main Applications folder and the old one in a subfolder named 'Work '09.  This is as intended.
Try opening your document with the new version of Numbers that is in the Applications folder, not the Numbers that is in the subfolder.

Is it possible to view .bbb files in a mac? how? I am transferring my bberry contacts onto my macbook pro, but cannot open the .bbb files...

Well, if simply double-clicking the .bbb file doesn't work, first try dragging the file onto the BBDM icon (either in the Dock, on the desktop or in the Applications folder or wherever it's stored). That tells Finder to open it with that application.
Otherwise, right-click on the file and choose the Open With option. If BBDM is not the default, select Get Info and use the Open with box from there to select it (if it's not in the list, choose 'other' and navigate to it), then click the 'change all' button.

It sounds like there's a problem with that file. You will need to re-copy the files to USB or even re-download the operating system from Microsoft.

  • How can I replace just the corrupt page(s) in the domain file of iWeb using Time Machine?

I back up with Time Machine and have an extensive elaborate website I created in iWeb '09 over a couple months and publish to a local folder and then upload to my server, but in the last few days I notice certain pages (that I haven't even worked on or touched) somehow become corrupted or "cross-contaminated" with elements and images from other pages.  Once I see they are corrupt I make sure not to publish them (if the current published versions are the correct, non-corrupt versions) or if they did get published I can use Time Machine to retrieve the .html file and page files folder for that specific page and replace it in my published folder/server so it shows correctly on the Web.  However, that does not replace the corrupted page(s) you see and work with when you launch iWeb and try to edit or continue working on that page.
I am confused as to how I go to the package contents of the domain file and replace just that page with a previous version from time machine.  I don't want to replace the entire domain file because I have new changes I made to other pages even in the past hours.  How can I keep the good pages and just get earlier, non-corrupted versions of the corrupt page(s)? I know it's not as easy as with the published site folder where you can just replace the page's .html file and folder, but I don't want to have to re-create the corrupted page(s) from scratch or have to replace it with the last non-corrupted domain file and then have to redo all my recent changes to new pages I made before discovering the corrupt page(s).  Thanks for your help as now I can't make changes to the page(s) within iWeb itself.

Thanks for the response, Wyodor.  I don't know what that is, but I'll have a look.  Is it an alternative to iWeb or a way to transfer pre-existing iWeb sites?  When you say merge domain files, is that like so multiple copies of the same site show up then you can pick and choose the non-corrupted pages and group them then delete the corrupted ones?  I am on Snow Leopard with no plans or need to upgrade anytime soon.
And yes, I will read your links but just wanted to ask those questions.  Maybe they'll answer my questions, maybe not.
I was able to discern that within the domain file is a domain folder with all the site folders, each with their own page ".gz" files which expand into ".xml" files.  I was trying to figure out if you could simply drag the corrupt pages out that way and replace them with backup copies that are still good.  I am having trouble discerning which pages are which as they all have random names like site-page-30F175E3-AE33-4F10-A490-1A096D9B185B.xml and although I expanded and opened each in Text Wrangler, I still couldn't discern which were which for sure, and trial and error proved cumbersome.  Also, I did notice some of the later corrupted domain files had one or two more pages than the site itself has, so not sure how they got added or duplicated or what.
Again, I'll look at your links, but do you know about swapping out individual page .xml files this way within the domain file?

  • Can't open my domain files with iweb??

I have a new Hard drive version 10.5.8. I have my old website files but iweb (3.0.3) will not open them. I've tried a few suggestions but nothing works. iweb just keeps prompting me to start a new site???

For opening your domain file or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.
Use the iWeb Switch Domain application to open those various domain.sites files to see which one actually contains your web site. Once you've found the right domain file delete the others.

  • Saving the domain file in iWeb fails. I have tried deleting the cache. I see that the file uploads to iWeb but the message is that the domain.sites2 file can't be saved. I note that duplicating the domain gives me different size files. Ideas?

I have read other discussions and my problem persists.
I note that duplicating the domain file user/library/applications support/iweb/domain.sites2 gives me files of varying sizes (I'm at around 200Mb).
I tried rebuilding the cache ../library/caches/com.apple.iweb - no change
I found a note to delete also a preference file ../library/prefernces/com.apple.iweb   bt found more than one (.../plist and .../plist.lockfile) so ducked that.
The website seems to update out of sync - as if I have a domain file elsewhere (in the cloud?) that is saving on my drive later - that doesn't make sense of the comments I have read. My domain.sites2 file is stadily growing - so one interpretation is that files are being saved and the error message is the error.
This has been a problem for about a year as I have tried many alternative solutions. I;m looking fro somethign substantially different.
One repeated situation is that I write a new page and upload it. I get the usual error message. I visit the site and there is the new page. My domain (on my machine) shows no new work, so I copy the stuff on the web back to my domain and steadily the file increases in size. Bewildering.
Everything is as up to date as it can be. I don't reboot very often as my machine is rarley off.
I'm looking for different ideas and approaches.....

Although some of the following will be a repeat but try the following:
delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.

    Hi oracleuser;
Please check Hussein Sawwan's post first and be sure you have correct syntax:
    Hi,
In addition to the above, please note that you are not using the correct/complete command to compile the form -- See (Note: 130686.1 - How to Generate >Form, Library and Menu for Oracle Applications) for the command.
    Regards,
Hussein If you sure you are using correct syntax than as i and Shailendra point, be sure you have w/r permission for your XXNPOPNJOBLOG.fmb file. For can see this issue is:
ls -lrt /s01/oracle/prodappl/au/11.5.0/forms/US/XXNPOPNJOBLOG.fmb << this will give you permission righ for your XXNPOPNJOBLOG.fmb file

Thanks Pat.  Tried each, restarted computer each time; tried the "Accept" routine several days ago - it worked briefly and then stopped.  Uninstalled Reader and Flash as well.  Strange thing with Flash, one of my online broker programs provides streaming of CNBC.  When I clicked on the CNBC option to initiate CNBC, I got a message saying that I needed to load Flash.  I did, and it loaded again with no mention of Flash having already been installed.
Using Internet Explorer works, as well as, clicking on the .pdf file within Windows Explorer (WE).  Expanding the window in WE makes it large enough to read.  I would still like to find a way to open the files as they are designed to open.
I have done all of the Adobe updates as they have been presented.  Microsoft updates load automatically, and restart my computer in the process.  I do not look to see what the updates have been.  I figure if there was not a need, Microsoft would not make the updates.
