  • Cannot open video mail

This is regarding an old post that hasn't been answered:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9883233#9883233
Basically I cannot upload videos sent from a Sprint PCS mobile to my email account because Windows technology is required. I am aware of the virtual box and bootcamp but I would much prefer a Mac only solution...Perhaps someone has written a script or knows a workaround?
Any help appreciated even if that means redirecting me to another section of this forum, but in this case, which one exactly?

I didn't misread your post. You stated that "... it's a fact I have verified myself and it is known problem to both Sprint PCS and Apple" and "The bottom like is I cannot open Video mail send by a sprint PCS mobile because it requires Windows technology." You also stated "I would much prefer a Mac only solution...Perhaps someone has written a script or knows a workaround?" To me this clearly states that (a) it can't be done any other way and (b) you would like to do it another way.
The bottom like is I cannot open Video mail send by a sprint PCS mobile because it requires Windows technology.
Since you refuse to provide details about the required "Windows technology", I can only guess that perhaps it's an issue regarding WMV files. If that's the case, you should investigate Flip4Mac WMV: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/28842 .
If that's not the problem, you could increase the chances that someone could help you by supplying details of the required "Windows technology".

  • Trying to open youtube, QuickTime cannot open video.3gp, only a problem since upgrading to Mavericks

trying to open youtube, QuickTime cannot open video.3gp, only a problem since upgrading to Mavericks, what do I need to do please ?

You're right. It wasn't QuickTime itself. I solved all the problems myself.
The main reason why QuickTime files weren't working was because the newest audio driver from Creative released July 2007 (using their autoupdate) is apparently for Windows Vista (it has the name Vista in the update title). Why that update showed up on my Windows XP Pro system, I have no idea. So, I went to Creative's site and got the driver before the latest release, and all works well.
The Microsoft update (from June 2007, I noticed today, not July) is another issue. It's based around the file P17RunE.dll, which is something from Microsoft for the SoundBlaster. Not sure what it does, but I don't need it.
Sorry for wasting all your time on a non QuickTime issue, but thanks for the help.

  • CANNOT OPEN OR EDIT PHOTOS SINCE INSTALLING iLIFE 08 and OS 10.5

I have recently installed iLIFE 08 and OS 10.5.1 and I cannot open or edit or use any of the photos in iPhoto. I get a white circle with an exclamation point in the center each time I try open open a photo.
I did back up iPhoto before installing the new software. Should I reinstall from the back up or is there another fix for this problem. Thank you in advance for the help.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I believe that's an indication of a permissions issue. Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the option to repair permissions.
If that doesn't fix it download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name, long or short, in the owner section and the current group in the group section. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Cannot open Videos, PDF-Viewer and Doc.viewer

When It try to open Videos, PDF-Viewer or Doc.viewer it loads the program but never ends. Always there is only the moving waiting symbol but the loading process never ends. Also, I cannot watch Quicktime movies anymore in the Pixi-Browser which worked before, too.
I am not really sure, because I have my Pixi just for some days: I guess it worked before and after the last update to webos 1.4.5 it doesn't work anymore. Can there be a relation to the update?
Has anybody else that problem? Who can help? Thanx for suggestions!!
Post relates to: Pixi Plus p121ueu (02)

    Thanks Alan,
for some reasons it works now. I even couldn't install any programs anymore. How it worked again: Before I wanted to restart the phone, I pluged it into my PC (USB-Drive) and backed up my Motion Classic Backups just to make sure I don't lose them. Then, I saw that I had 2 Excel-Sheets and 1 Word-Dokument in the main folder of my pixi. I moved them into a new folder.
After disconnecting the pixi from my PC it restarted itself and for some reason, now, it installed all programs I tried to install before (and didn't worked). Now, it all works. I can start PDF-Viewer, Doc.viewer and Videos and see all documents. Puhh, I am glad.
I don't know, why the malfunction happened. My Pixi crashes from time to time because of my Motion Classic. I am very unhappy about the instability of Classic. But that is maybe how some things changed in webOS.
Anyway, thank you for the webOs Doctor-Link!

  • Cannot open pictures in Photo Album

Hello, I have got a ipod 4th Generation and I'm having trouble because I cannot open pictures at the top of the screen because the Album heading is in front of it and I can't slide the picture down the screen.
    Can anyone help please?
    Many Thanks.

Try closing your Photo Album app.  To do this, double click the home button to bring up the multitasking bar.  Tap your finger over the Photo Album app (or any app listed in the multitasking bar) and hold it until a small minus sign appears in the upper right hand corner.  Tap this to close the App.  Then try reopening it.  Any luck there?
Otherwise a hard reset may be necessary.  To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • I cannot open videos that are sent in adobe flash player.  i have loaded Photon, and just bought Falcon Player, and still cannot open any video sent in adobe flash.  I understood that I was to download one of these as a substitute and could play my, video

Can someone help me to open videos that come in adobe flash player.  It says' my ipad 2 does not accept that.  i was told to down load either photon or Falcon player.  i have done both and still cannot open my videos.  i am 74 years old, electronically challenged, and NEED SOMEONES HELP, PLEASE!!  Thanks so very much to whomever has the time to he me.

Either get a screen cleaning cloth, or carefully us a slightly damp lint-free cloth and dry off with a dry link-=free cloth.
As to Flash Videos: I am in a similar same boat. I cannot watch flash videos on the BBC website or on BBC iPlayer, although all other flash videos (YouTube and FaceBook for example) are fine.
For reasons that passeth all understanding, they work with the PPC version of Firefox, called TenFourFoxG5.app, once you have anabled plug-ins, as it does not natively support Flash.
You can download TenFourFoxG5 from here:
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
Now for the intersting bit: TenFourFox, like Firefox, does not support most plug-ins. Unless you are prone to headaches (in which case don't) you can read about that here:
    http://code.google.com/p/tenfourfox/wiki/PluginsNoLongerSupported
    But there is a workaround!
Open TenFourFox and type in the address bar: about:config (no spaces) and click return. This gives you a warning that it might harm the application. Ignore that and click on 'I'll be careful, I promise' and you get the config file that you can edit - with great care.
    Look/search (scroll down) for: tenfourfox.plugins.enabled
Set it to true. (Double click it to toggle it)
Now close TenFourFox, open it again, and Flash will now work, as it now uses the plug-ins that Safari has stored.
I am using Flash 10.1.102.64 in TenFourFox and it works just fine.

  • 'The New iPad' cannot open videos

    Hi all,
I moved from an iPad 1 to a new ipad quite seamlessly using iTunes to back up my details. The new iPad worked really well until I realised that it would only play the videos that were there from the back up. Any new videos I tired to play would create a 'cannot open' message.
I have done everything the way I normally would from using the same software to convert the video files to syncing them via iTunes.
Has something changed with the release of the new iPad? Is iTunes blocking me from sync videos I didn't purchased from the iTunes store?
What other reason does the 'cannot open' message come up for, maybe I can figure it out?

Wow...just wow... I love when I fix my own tech problems.
As mentioned before I felt my iTunes was the problem even though it was up to date.
    I un-installed it and ensured I re-installed a 64bit version of it.
I synced it with the iPad but nothing changed.
Then I realised that maybe my zone alarm firewall might be the cause of all my problems even though I already tried syncing with zone alarm off (which didn't work) I thought maybe updating it to the latest version would fix the issue. I have long been aware that zone alarm has cause different issues with iTunes and iProducts. I don't know if anyone has ever covered it on these forums.
After installing the most current version of zone alarm firewall. I synced my iPad with iTunes and IT WORKED. My videos now play on the iPad perfectly.
Hopefully this new version of zone alarm won't cause any other conflicts otherwise I maybe have to remove it.
So in summary, ensure you are using the latest version of iTunes. If you are using zone alarm firewall. Update it or if that doesnt work then uninstall it complete and use another firewall.
Thanks to all who offered their suggestions.

  • Cannot transfer videos and Photos from Iphone 3GS to my PC or MacBook

I have an Iphone 3G and my wife has a 3GS. On the 3G Windows XP or my MacBook will see the iphone as a camera. But on the 3GS neither OS will see the iphone as a camera. They both just open Itunes
I took a lot of video over the weekend with the 3GS and I need to get it to my PC without loosing the quality of the video.
    Any ideas?

not that easy - but I did it! You need Adobe Photo Shop or as they say Adobe Photo Elements. Get started Adobe Photo Shop and klick on the Menu "File" / Import / via iPhone....
.... and it works. You can import all photos to Photo Shop and save them as you want.

  • Iphone 5s keeps failing to open videos or photos on pc

I am using my work PC, and do not have ITUNES installed. Yesterday afternoon I was able to attach my phone via the Apple USB cord to the PC, hit "Trust" this computer, and was able to download photos manually, or open the Iphone as a driver (I think that's what it's called) in order to open and save videos taken on my iphone. This morning, I am no longer able to do that.
I plug the phone in, hit trust and just as the pc starts to recognize the phone, it disconnects and asks if I'd like to trust this pc again. I've been trying for 2 hours (different pc's) and I just can't get it to work!
    HELP!

    Hello olivia2011
There are a few things to try out in the article below to get your iPhone to show back up as a camera on your computer at work. It will go over checking the drives to ensure a proper connection as well as just simply check for software updates on your computer.
