Cannot open web page in new tab in V 3.6.13

I am using FF V. 3.6.13 with VISTA & Norton Security Suite. When I am in a web site and I click on a link, nothing happens. I have to right click on the link, chose "Open Link In New Tab" to get anything to happen. On some web sites I am unable to download a file. I have checked all my security settings, I have "open in a new tab" selected in FF, and I have turned off Norton Security Suite. I noticed this began right after I updated FF to the newest version. Anyone know how to resolve this problem? Your help will be appreciated.

I am also having this problem, but in Windows XP and after trying and removing FF 4.07B.
I my case FF doesn't even have a tab for the opening page. Tried as stated above by "sierradave".
As above thanks in advance.

• Is there a keyboard shortcut to open the presently open web page in another tab? It used to be Ctrl + N.

Is there a keyboard shortcut to open the presently open web page in another tab? It used to be Ctrl + N. This shortcut now opens a Tab with the home page instead of duplicating the web page I'm on.

Firefox has always opened new tabs in a blank page, so I'm guessing that the way you had it before was added by an extension.
If you to to Tools > Add-ons > Extensions, are there any extensions disabled?
In any case, you can still do this with a mouse shortcut. Hold down the Ctrl key as you drag a tab to an empty area on the tab bar.

• When I click a link to open the page in new tab, it open the new page beside my page.

After I update FireFox to version 3.6.8, I could not open the new page in the last tab, it always opens the new page in beside the tab.
Mmm…I could not make sure the new page or new tab I said is the same with you…?? (I use Chinese version so that I don’t know if it’s the same or not…)
A window could open several pages with different tabs, and I could click different tab to different page, right?
If I right clicked a link to open the page to “new tab” in the same window, the new tab opened in the last tab of my window.
But after I update FireFox to version 3.6.8 and I click a link to open the page to “new tab” in the same windoe, the new tab will open beside my page. (Mmm…Open on right of my page.)
I would like the “new tab” open to the last tab in my window, not “beside” the tab I used. How could I change the setting??)

That feature isn't new to 3.6.8, it was changed in 3.6.
Type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter.
If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.
Filter = browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent
Double-click that preference to change the value to false

• When we connect to the internet or visit a new web page, a new tab opens and an alert pops up as follows: "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded"

When we start the internet or navigate to a new page, a new tab opens with the following alert: "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded." We "x" out of it, but a new tab, with the same alert appears. The problem occurs again when we try to navigate to another web page. A real nuisance. We've scanned the computer but found nothing but Adware cookies.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See Troubleshooting extensions and themes and Troubleshooting plugins
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

• Hyperlink + ctrl click opens the page in new tab in my website. it should open it in the same window of my website

When i do a ctrl+hyperlink click in my website running in firefox, it opens up in a new tab, I dont want the ctrl+hyperlink click to open in new tab or new window. It should open in the same browser. (works as required in IE 7)

Ctrl+left click on a link or bookmark will open in a new tab. That is a standard Firefox keyboard shortcut. Middle-click will do the same (Middle-click = press the scroll wheel). On the following page, scroll down to "Web Navigation" or Find (Ctrl+F), enter "Ctrl+lef" (without quotation marks) in the Find box. Read the footnote 4 about how to change from background tab to foreground tab.
See: http://www.7is7.com/software/firefox/shortcuts.html
To open a link or bookmark in the currently active tab, simply click on the link or bookmark. Your current tab will be over-written with the new link or bookmark.
The following page shows the shortcuts for IE7. Click "Working with tabs". It shows Ctrl+click will "Open links in a new tab in the background" and on the next line, it shows CTRL+SHIFT+click will "Open links in a new tab in the foreground".
See: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Internet-Explorer-keyboard-shortcuts#
Maybe you have installed something to change the shortcuts on your installation?

• PDF -- link to web page--- in new tab??

Hi! I´m making a PDF that will be seen in browsers and when I put the links to open web pages they always open on the same tab as the PFD... How can I make them open on a new page o tab?? Is there a Javascript code?
Thanks!!!

The code to do it is:
app.launchURL("http://www.google.com", true);
But keep in mind it's not going to work if the PDF file is opened in non-Adobe PDF viewers.

• Won't open web page in new window

Ever since the 5.0 upgrade when I click on a tab to open in a new window firefox just opens a blank new window. This is driving me crazy. So if I have 5 tabs going and say I want to watch a youtube video on my other monitor while I'm doing something else, I right click on the tab and click on open in new window and i just get a blank window. So I have to copy and paste the address in the new blank window. I am about to switch to google chrome its very inconvenient.
Thanks!

• Open jsf page in new tab

Please, could someone explain me how I can open jsf page on button click in new browser tab? I use JDev 11g.

Are you using go link or go button ?
If Yes so then go link or go button has one property called target frame which has following value :
_blank: The link opens the document in a new window.
_parent: The link opens the document in the window of the parent. For example, if the link appeared in a dialog window, the resulting page would render in the parent window.
_self: The link opens the document in the same page or region.
_top: The link opens the document in a full window, replacing the entire page.
Which will applicable in your case you can use .
Thanks

• Cannot open web page

After updating ipad OS form 4 to 6.1.3 (connected to my laptop, did backup, did restore after updating), I have two problems:
1. My music and audio book files are no longer on my ipad. I did "restore" again -- still not there. I cannot find these lost files anywhere in my laptop either.
2. Now when I try to access public wi-fi (the same network I've used for years), Safari says it cannot open the web page due to some problem regarding server.
Please help.

Works just fine for me.
If it fails for you try "refreshing" (Command-r) the Safari page.

• Everytime i open a page a new tab pops up also, why?

Whenever I open Firefox my homepage shows up, but so does a new tab. Every time i click on a link or a new site a new tab pops up. How do i stop this from happening?

You can check the home page setting:
*Tools > Options > General > Startup: Home page
Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.
Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

• Cannot open web pages but have Internet connection

I cannot open any web page in Safari, Firefox or Chrome, however internet diagnostics indicate there is no problem with Internet connection.
I have tried disabling firewall with no effect.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
