Cannot paste and match style bug in keynote '09

Since upgrading to Keynote '09 I cannot utilize the past and match style function when wanting to duplicate fonts between slides. For instance, if I want to highlight some text from a working document and put that text onto a slide in Keynote, I select the text and copy it- go into keynote and click on my slide and then right click to insert the highlighted text. After the upgrade the text just drops in the (default black font from the document) - not the larger white font on the black background slide.
So now I have to manually highlight each text box - 1) change font 2) change font color.....very frustrating and time consuming. I have yet to see any one else on the forums having a similar issue with Keynote '09

I am rarely on these forums and was just browsing over lunch when I saw yours.
The Paste and Match style command pastes the text in to the text box with the font and style already allocated to that text box, regardless of its origin.
If you just do a regular Paste (Command V - not sure about your right clicking as I have a single button mouse) that will paste the words in with their original font and format.
I use the Copy and Paste Style keyboard shortcuts ALL the time; it saves so much time. Just highlight the text form you want (font, size, colour etc) and, instead of just Command C to copy it, do an Alt Command C . . this copies the format and not the text. Highlight the text you want to change (it doesn't work if you just pick the text box - you have to highlight the text itself) and Alt Command V to paste in the new formats. You can do this with any objects too - drop shadows, line weights, fills, colours etc. This also works between Pages and Keynote.
What I most want from Apple is a Copy and Paste Build command!
Hope this helps

It used to work until recent updates and it is very frustrating.....I hope someone out there knows how to deal with this.

  • After updating numbers and pages I can no longer copy multiple cells from numbers and paste and match style to pages.

After updating numbers and pages I can no longer copy multiple cells from numbers and paste and match style to pages.  I used to be able to select multipule cells in a row (such as company name, address, etc.) then paste and match style on to a pages letter. I found the paste and match style option in the edit menu, however it will only work one cell at a time. Before the update is was working great.

For diagnosing purpose thy the procedure in a new user account and see if it works there. You create a new user account in the System Preferences > Accounts. If it works in the new account it is probably a corrupt plist file that needs to be deleted.

  • Default "paste and match style" + message list line separator

I'm loving Apples mail app ... nothing is perfect, though. Here are a couple minor annoyances, am I missing something?
    - Is it possible to make "paste and match style" the default, so I don't have to use menu bar or a four fingered short cut?
    - is it possible to separate the lines in the message list view by a thin line or, even better, alternating background shading, like it is done in the list view in Finder?
Not a big deal, but both of these features would be nice.
    Thank you,
    Stephan

I imagine there is an elegant way using the command line, however you can easily accomplish your first request via the System Preferences, Keyboard and Mouse Pane, Keyboard Shortcuts tab. See, http://www.macworld.com/article/50828/2006/05/cmdnrevert.html
For your second request, I imagine that this can be accomplished with Stationary in Mail.app 3.4, but I have never tried.

  • Paste and match style does not work in some cases

    Dear Sir
My "Paste and Match Style" does not work with some sites.

What happens if you put table Table_1 into the Analytic View?
Also go ahead and and update HANA, Rev.60 is very old by now.

  • Default paste and match style

Many times, when I'm pasting text, I find that I need to select "Paste and match style" from the menu bar. Is there a way to make "Paste and match style" the default?
System: Mac mini, late 2012, running OS X 10.10.1

Ok, I figured this out. Settings > Keyboard > Shortcuts tab. Choose App Shortcuts in the left pane, then press the "+" button below the right pane.
    Applications: All Applications
Menu Title: Paste and Match Style
    Keyboard Shortcut: (your chosen shortcut)
Click the Add button and you now have your chosen keyboard shortcut instead of the uncomfortable shift+option+command+v.
I had no idea that the default keyboard shortcuts in the menu bar were that easy to change. Thank you, Apple!

  • Make "Paste and Match Style" the default action?

Is there anyway to make "Paste and Match Style" the default action when typing command-v?

Not unless you reassign CMD-V to the menu command for past and match style. Done in the control panels for keyboard and mouse I think. I am not sure if your allowed to overwrite original keyboard shortcuts, but I think so.
But Paste and match style already has a keyboard shortcut. I take it you feel like an octopus trying to push all the keys together? I know I do for some of them.

  • Make "Paste and Match Style" the default

Is there a way to make “Paste and Match Style” the default for the cmd + V keyboard shortcut?
    Edit:
Never mind, this discussion popped up in the sidebar *after* posting my question

  • Paste and Match Style problem

Since the last Pages 09 update Paste and Match Style doesn't work as good as before.
Often the pasted text doesn't get the color of the text at the insertion position.
    Anyone else noticed that?
    What can I do?

You are quite correct, the option doesn't work as well as '08 ~ you can now have any colour you like as long as it is default black.:)
The Apple Feedback link is under Pages on the menu bar.

  • Can I make "paste and match style" the default

I can't remember the last time I pasted something into an email where I didn't want to match the style. Is there any way that I can make this the default?

you can just switch the shortcuts for regular paste and paste with matching style. go to system preferences->keyboard->keyboard shortcuts->applications and add two shortcuts for Mail overriding the default ones.

  • Pages paste and match style

I do a lot of copy or cut and paste match style.  This used to work great.  Now with recent updates, all the paste info is the origional font instead of the font that I am pasting into.  This makes for a lot of work to change the fonts.  Am I missing something?  I've done this for years and it just doesn't work all of a sudden.

I was using an excel spreadsheet to copy/paste from that is probably the problem.  But I had done this many times....literally for years.  I teach a class on Apple computers and download my class spreadsheet, which happens to be an excel format,  copy/paste the names and email address and phone numbers into my numbers spreadsheet and it always used to work great.  now it doesn't.... I did try copy/paste from a pages doc that I have and like you said it worked without a problem. Also did a numbers spreadsheet and it worked also.  My only recourse was to change the font of the excel spreadsheet to match my numbers spreadsheet and it worked fine.  Thanks for your quick replies, I really appreciate it.... it gave me somewhere else to look.

  • Why can't I right click and "paste and match style" anymore?

I used this so many times and now it has dissappeared from the new version. Is there some trick to get it back into my drop down menu when I right click?

In Keynote 6 you would:   Format > Copy Style then Format Paste > Style

  • Past and Match Style erases my borders - should it?

I'm working in Numbers, and when I copy a style from one cell, and paste in another, I lose all my borders. I don't know if the copy and paste style should copy borders, I don't really care, but I just don't want it to erase my borders.
Specifically, I have a bunch of cells where I want to indent the text. As I can't make this change with multiple cells selected, I have to do it to one, then copy the style and paste the style on others. But this erases my borders.
Is there better way to accomplish what I want? Thanks!

    Hi Yvan,
now I realized that we did not understand each other because we were talking about different things.
When me (and most probably Adam as well) were talking about a "Table" we did not mean the Table as a sub-item of a sheet which in Numbers (comparing to Excel) you can have more Tables in one Sheet (which I personally appreciate very much).
To make a copy of such a Table is an easy thing. I can make my own Table template as well it is very easy to right click and make a Duplicate of a Table.
What we were talking about is to make a copy of a table within a Table (just a group of cells within a Table with its own formatting such as fonts, borders, ... etc.)
Please have a look here: http://www.vidovic.sk/kuko_test.numbers
and if you can advice me, make a copy (with all the styles such as borders as well) of a table - the group of cells B2-G13 for example to area B16-G27 within the same Table.
I truly believe this is somehow possible.
Thank you very much in advance.

  • "master" paste and match formatting

I do a lot of work with excel and google docs transferring data. Normally when I copy and paste from one doc to another it automatically matches formatting to the paste location and somehow that has been turned off. Any ideas how to fix it?

That would be a setting in the programs you are using. Not something in the OS version or the hardware of the computer.
So I suggest you post this question in the respective forums for the programs you are using.

  • Copy, Paste and Text Formatting

If I copy text from another application, then paste it into a
Fireworks textbox, it replaces the Fireworks formatting with the
formatting from the previous application. I'm looking for something
along the lines of the "paste and match style" function found in
most Apple programs. Also, if I copy text *from* Fireworks, then
paste it into another application, it shows up as an image, not
    text.
Any way around these problems? (At least they're problems for
    me.)
I've been using FW since it was originally released, and I
don't recall these problems in previous versions. I don't have any
earlier versions installed, however, so I can't be sure.

Open the text in the text editor (Text > Editor) and copy
    and paste it
from there. You can also paste text into the text editor to
    remove
    formatting from other software.
