Cannot paste from windows (notepad) to X client

We bring up an X application GUI from Tarantella SGD and would like to copy the text from windows (notepad or excel) and paste it to the X application but paste doesn't work.
C&P works fine between xterm/dtterm and X application. But, it does not work between windows application and our X application.
Any ideas. Thank you very much.

Check to see if copy and paste is disabled on your windows terminal server's RDP-Properties.
Also, can you copy and paste from a remote Windows application session into a local application?

I can copy text from a Windows program such as notepad and paste it into a text item ina a client/server version of a form, but if I run the same form over the web, I lose the cut-and-paste functionality. Is it possbile to cut-and-pastee text into a webform text item?

You can do this on the web but yu require an extra step. Have a look at the browser setting - you need to ensure that
you are able to run unsigned applets.

How to find the folder (EBS_R12) in OEL 5 after copy/paste from Windows 7 ?

Hello. I have just installed Oracle Linux 5 as Guest OS on the top of VMPlayer. Host OS is Windows 7.
I downloaded Oracle E-Business Suite R12 from edelivery into Windows 7 in a folder(EBS_R12) on my LapTop screen.
In order to install EBS R12 into Oracle Linux 5, I copy/paste the folder EBS_R12 into Oracle Linux 5 screen. The file size is about 50GB. After coply/paste is completed successfully, I cannot find where is the folder (EBS_R12) in the Guest OS Oracle Linux 5.
Can any folks tell me where is the folder (EBS_R12) in Oracle Linux 5 after copy/paste from Windows 7 ?

Cannot paste from clipboard. Cannot read the available clipboard formats.

I cannot open a new or old pagemaker 6.5 document. The message comes up 'cannot paste from clipboard. Cannot read the available clipboard formats.
It will not let you do anything and I have to close by Alt. Ctrl. Delete.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Let me confirm what you're saying.
PM (windows?) loads up OK, but when you try to open an existing or create new publication, you get the error "'cannot paste from clipboard. Cannot read the available clipboard formats"?
!. PM6.5 can only be operated on a contemporary OS, like Win98SE or Win2K. Generally speaking, with later versions on Windows, it's a non-starter. If this is the case, and it's essential you open your PM files, download and install the trial version of PM7.
2. You probably have some corruption somewhere. You can try trashing all the configuration files (search using the string PM65*.cnf ) and re-loading PM65
3. If suggestion 2 fails, you need to remove and re-install PM65, but even this may not work. See 7.6 - Re-installing PageMaker of this linked PDF which was taken from the old AdobeForums FAQs. (Note the date of this FAQs and begin to realise how ancient PM65 is.)
4. Forget all the above, and move to InDesign.

Cannot print from Windows Live photo gallery

I cannot print from Windows Live Photo Gallery. The printer is connected and has a signal.

This printer is an HP Photosmart Touchscreen. I have since resolved the problem by uninstalling, and reinstalling the printer. Not sure what the problem was, but it is now working. Thank you for your help.

SMB-problem: can see/manage files, but cannot open from Windows 8.1

I have some files shares on a Mavericks server (clean install, including OSX Server). I can connect and see the shared files from my Windows clients (both 7 and 8.1). I can even create files, rename them, etc. From Windows 7 i can also open and edit them. So far, so good!
From Windows 8.1 however, opening does not work: simple text-files and pdf's don't open at all (server cannot execute instruction/file already open), office documents can only be opened in read-only mode.
In the System log (on OSX Server) are a lot of lines like: smbd[714]: File system does not support 0x0 time attributes (or does not support 0x400000, file attrs).
Using Windows Power Shell, I figured out that there is a SMB2.1 connection between Windows and OS X, which seems
to be correct. It appears that OS X judges that Windows is using one or more wrong parameters in an SMB-system call.
I had lots of SMB-problems using Mountain Lion (Snow Leopard server was fine). I don't want to force my Windows machine to use SMB1 (for all shares) using the commands found in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2696547 (I didn't try yet).
Any help would be appreciated.

So I have the exact same issues. I actually called Microsoft Support and they tried a bunch of different things. They even tried disabling SMB 2 and 3 on my Windows 8.1, but then I was unable to connect to my OS X 10.9.1 Server share point at all anymore!
Here is what I found out. When I start up from my 10.6.8 Server backup on my Macmini Server, and then mapped the network drive on letter G on Windows 8.1 Pro client machine to that very same share point - worked like a charm. I can read , write and such all fines on that share. All is well. Leaving the Windows 8.1 client alone, on the macmini server I selected the upgraded 10.9.1 Server volume and restarted the Macmini Server. After restart, guess what, I was able to perfectly access the files from Windows 8.1 on the OS X share point which of course was still mapped as drive G on 8.1 from earlier.
Now here comes the kicker. I went ahead and restarted Windows 8.1 and then everything went haywire! I opened the Windows 8.1 desktop and brought up My Computer. I saw that the mapped drive G is no longer connected (red X). I went ahead and double clicked it and then Windows Explorer simply hug itself and wouldn't come back. I had to force quit explorer and ended up ultimately restarting Windows. After restart I went ahead and disconnected the mapped network drive (G), and then re-mapped it. I authenticated with the very same username and password as before. This time I am able to see all the files once again, but can't open or work with any of them. It is super jinxed. In my opinion there is a severe bug in Apples SMB 2 or smbx or whatever they call it. Why couldn't thy just leave it alone and pay a licensing fee and use Samba? It's just so stupid!!!!
Apple, you must fix this problem. I will tell the server tech that I have been working with the very same thing. They should have never release 10.9. It was premature and not ready for prime time. It's good to know that there is a work around however. It is super teadious, and spastic, but hey, at least I get it to work. Either it has something to do with authentication, or the way OS X 10.9 responds when mapping a network drive on windows 8.1 pro? No clue.
Apple does not pay me to Q&A their software. This stuff should simply work! I am ****** off and have wasted now over 3 weeks of my precious time banging my head against the wall with Apple stuff.

Cut and paste from Windows to vi via putty

I'm using putty to access my linux machine from my windows machine, as my wife is using the mythtv on the linux machine...
I need to cut some text from a windows document and insert it into a document on the linux machine. I loaded up putty and can open the document in vi (I guess it really is vim), cut it from the windows document, and try to past into vi. I am sure I used to be able to do this by right clicking where I wanted the text to go, but now vi just goes into Visual mode (the bottom of the screen says ----(insert) VISUAL and I cannot paste.
Not sure what I did to start causing this behavior, or what to do to undo it, or whether I'm just remembering wrong, but reading internet sources seems to confirm I should be able to do what I am trying to do.

I have the same problem it started few weeks ago. I have Arch server without X so i have to ssh and maintain the server. To paste in vi i use the scroll button. Its not only in putty from windows but also in Linux terminals too except Linux terminals is way better, if the scroll button don't work you can just click on Edit and Paste or (shift+ctrl+v) from gnome-terminal.
When i try to paste using the scroll button i get this error message:
E353: Ingenting i register" my locale is Swedish so in English it translate something like this E353: nothing in register"

Why can't I copy and paste from my notepad?

I am trying to "copy" from my notepad and "paste" it to another site. It won't work!! Is it the other site or something I am doing wrong??

Copy paste from windows clipboard to JTextField

I am making a swing application with a lot of components in it. There are a lot of JtextFields in the application. when i do Ctrl+C from a JTextField and do a Ctrl V in a different JTextField of the same application the text gets copied to the second JTextField. But when i copy something from windows and try to paste it in JTextField it does'nt work. Please guide me. Some other component is eating up the Ctrl C/Ctrl V event or what?
I tried adding keystroke's to the InputMap of the JTextField but it still does'nt work.
Kindly guide me. Thanks in advance

HP OfficeJet 6500 E709a: cannot scan from Windows 8.1; uninstall crashes at step 8 of 10

When I try to scan from Windows 8.1, launched from the HP Solution Center, it fails before giving me a preview, saying:
Scanning error

When I run the HP Print and Scan Doctor and select "Fix Scan", it fails on the first check, saying it failed to find the driver. The text field that gets uploaded to HP includes the string "hpbxpsrender.dll: Not Found".
I tried uninstalling, using uninstall.bat in the "OJ_AIO_6500_E709_EntScruber_140" (HP OfficeJet Enterprise 14.0), which I downloaded from HP.com. It gets to step 8 of 10 ("removing unnecessary components..."); then it hangs and Windows 8.1 says "HP Installer Uninstaller has stopped working" and kills it.
I have tried running uninstaller in regular mode, in regular mode with my anti-virus / firewall (Kaspersky) paused (disabled), and in Safe Mode with Networking. Same result every time.
I have run the Installer without error. I can view the HP OJ status web page in my browser (http://192.168.1.5) from both computers.
I don't remember if scanning has ever worked on this computer. Scanning works on another computer (Windows XP). Both computers are wired (Ethernet) to the same network switch as the HP OJ.

Welcome back to the HP Support Forums! I see you are not able to scan to your HP Officejet 6500 with your computer running the Windows 8.1 Operating system. You have tried to uninstall the software but get an error message. I see you have done ALOT of troubleshooting already, thank you for that, this allows me to see what has failed for you.
I would like you to continue here and complete the steps listed below:
1. Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard to bring up the run menu.
2. Type %programfiles% in the run field and click OK.
3. Delete any HP/Hewlett Packard folders.
4. Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard to bring up the run menu.
5. Type %programfiles(x86)% in the run field, and click OK. This is for 64 bit systems only.
6. Delete any HP/Hewlett Packard folders.
7. Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard to bring up the run menu.
8. Type %appdata% in the run field, and click OK.
9. Delete any HP/Hewlett Packard folders.
10. Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard to bring up the run menu.
11. Type %programdata% in the run field. 
12. Delete any HP/Hewlett Packard folders.
13. Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard to bring up the run menu.
14. Type regedit in the run field.
15. Delete any HP/Hewlett Packard folders or keys that you find. (backup the reg file b4)

18. If you run into any problems after installing using the PIW, now we can re run the HP Print and Scan Doctor- It was designed by HP to provide users with the troubleshooting and problem solving features needed to resolve many common problems experienced with HP print and scan products connected to Windows-based computers.
I will watch for your reply, please make note of anything that you run into as well as what the PSDR finds.

I have followed all of the instructions that I have found, but remain unable to complete the (free) upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1.
The message I get is an error code: 0x80070003
I am using a Lenovo U510.
Would appreciate any help, I have been trying for months and can see no solution but to reset. However, would prefer to avoid that.

Cannot print from Windows XP in Boot Camp

I rarely boot into Windows using Boot Camp. Usually will use Windows as a VM with VMware Fusion.
Now I am unable to print when in Windows/Boot Camp!
Yes, I can print just fine in Mac & in Windows as a VM.
My Boot Camp installation of WinXP is the same one I use as a VM.
I wonder if I changed some printer setting long ago & forgot. I am fairly certain I used to be able to print from Windows/Boot Camp.
From: Windows XP/Control Panel/Printers & Faxes/My printer/properties/Ports
The last port/box in the list is checked, “TPVM: ThinPrint Print Port for VM”
I thought this may be incorrect for when I am in Windows using Boot Camp so tried changing it to LPT1 & then LPT2 & LPT3 & no real help. However, when using
TPVM: ThinPrint Print Port for VM, When I attempt to print, nothing happens & no print job appears in the print queue. (See what’s printing) If I change the port to LPT1,2 or 3, than the job DOES appear & under status says “error.”
I think I need to change some setting when I boot into Windows via Boot Camp vs. Start Windows as a VM.
What is the problem?

I did set up printer sharing. Even though I only have one computer I still share the printer between the Mac & WIndows on the Mac in both VM & BC.
On Mac: System Preferences/Print & Fax, I do have the box checked “Share this printer on the network.” Under Sharing Preferences I have checked; Printer sharing, Scanner sharing & file sharing. Users: Everyone Can Print.
If I remember correctly, b4 I had set up printer sharing, I was unable to print from Windows as VM. It would send the print job over to the Mac side & would not print. Then I used to go into the sys tray on Windows & change something re the printer (I forget what) but essentially telling Windows to use this printer or activate it. Then when finished -- If I forget to undo that change, it would not print on the Mac side. Setting the printer to share fixed that so, I can easily print Mac or Windows VM. Again, I very rarely boot into Windows/BC but I would like to be able to print when I do.
It may be similar to use of the optical drive for DVDs/CDs. If I am in Windows/VM The Drive doesn't work until I go into some menu (Virtual Machine?) & enable the drive & then I must disable it to get it back working for Mac.
I am going to try DVD & CD sharing & see if that fixes it so I can use the drive in both Mac & Windows VM w/o having to bother to change settings back & forth, Then I will see if doing that somehow breaks the DVD/CD drive for Windows/BC.
Maybe I need to uncheck printer sharing in order for the printer to once again work on Windows/BC?
Or maybe since I enabled printer sharing, I must somehow tell my Mac or tell Windows that all 3 can share; Mac, Windows/VM & Windows BC? I’m sure if I had 3 different computers I would need to somehow tell the system which computers are authorized to use my Network printer. Maybe since Windows BC is never online/running at the same time as the Mac, it was not recognized?
