Cannot Paste? ZEN Vision M Series Media Explo

Has anyone else been able to move a file from within the Vision M, using media explorer. I cannot drag and drop, cut / paste nor right click cut / paste to move a file from one folder to another. This is with ZEN Vision M Series Media Explorer 5.2.06 on XP (SP). Our IT guys have disabled? Windows Media?Player installation, but I don't use that on the laptop anyway? It acts like it's about to cut the file(s) (the files become highlighted / faded). Can't paste to save my life.

Maybe I need to Clarify. I want to move a few individual files from one folder in the zen to a different folder in the zen. When I start the process, I begin by cutting the file(s). So far so good. The file(s) selected change color and fade out like you would normally expect. Now I double click, select and open the folder I'm trying to move the file into. If I right click or try to select Paste, it's grayed out.
Instead of cutting/pasting, have you tried drag and drop?
I just highlight the files I want by left clicking [using the Ctrl or Shift keys to select more than file] and while keeping the left mouse button depressed, 'drag' the files to where I want.
Releasing the left mouse button completes the transfer.

I have the same problem. It all started yesterday when I was installing the cd drivers in my new computer. I have searched numerous forums and some people had to return the product. Please admins help on this issue as I understand it is very serious.

  • ZEN VISION M SERIES MEDIA EXPLORER NOT WORKING ON WINDOWS 7

Recently installed the much hyped windows 7. Installed my zen vision m. Everything is ok except media explorer is not working from the shortcut on the desktop or i can't find the exe in the creative folder file to get it started. All i get is "this filse does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.please install a program or,if one is already installed, create an association in the default programs control panel "
i can access the music & picture files as a hard drive folder.
    Anyone any ideas?

My experience has been that the original software that came on CD with the Visionn M is not compatible with my new 64 bit Windows 7 OS but that the updated version availabloe for free download on the support site does work just fine. My remaining frustration (which appears unresolvable) is that unlike the original, the "new and improved" media explorer from the website?will only rip to WMA format and does not offer the MP3 option that was the core of the original program. I think this is incomprehensible and reprehensible for a device that is sold as an "MP3 player". I did not intentionally?buy an expensi've "WMA player" but thanks to Creative, I guess I ended up with one. I have bought literally a dozen Creative media players over the years for friends and family but this makes me so angry that I will never buy another.

  • Regarding the Zen Vision M: Series Media Explorer.

For some reason, whenever I click on it, it gives me an error message saying, "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Assocations control panel."? What can I do to get it to start working again?

Hi, is the problem occuring while your zen is docked to your computer ? I guess so right ? What I would do would be to uninstall everything from the computer, and reinstall again. Maybe you just happened to delete or misplaced an important file that now prevents it from working correctly. If you have a windows xp, you can also try to "restore" your computer back to a date where everything was working fine.Otherwise than that, I don't know anymore !Good luck, let us know if it worked !

  • Zen Vision M 30GB Media Player 11 Drive Space probl

Hi Very odd situation when I plug my Zen is it says in the sync tab? box
that there is 27.8Gb which is correct but only 2.3GB remaining but I only
have 8GBish of music on there and nothing else i.e pictures, videos. In the
graphic on the right side of the screen on the sync it has the bar which i
guess represents the total capcity there is a clear portion about half then
a blue area just over a quarter of the bar, then finally a grey area which
is the remainder. I am concerned is because what can I seem to have lost
    around 0GB of my capacity.
Where has this 0GB gone the player itself confirms I have only 8GBish of
music stored. One of my theories is that the 2.3GB is what remain if I
synced all my content available to the Zen? This is under vista 32bit but also the same thing under Windows XP SP2 with media player .
    Thanks
    Jerry
?PS?when I look at the Zen under Computer it says 20GB remaining as well.

well I have the same problem too but the only way it seems to kinda fix it, is by going to your Zen Media Explorer>Setting and Information>Tools>Format. And then when everything is deleted from your player re-sync with windows and it should show the correct amount of space taken up and amount of space left. Ive only tried this once and it worked for me. But Ive been having the problem again and I'm not sure if I should format again. So if anyone finds out how to fix this problem without me having to format my player please let me know it will be greatly appreciated.

  • Zen Vision:M Import Probl

I just got my new zen vision:M a few days ago and when I connected it to my computer it wouldn't pop up at all, even after I downloaded all the software from the CD's so I ended up updating the drivers which made it so the computer would actually detect it... But now.. I have a different problem, when I go to the ZEN Vision:M Series Media Explore and click " Add Media" and then add all the media I want on it then click next and then the import screen pops up and it just sits there.. Sooo I couldn't add any of my tracks or anything, however I did go to my computer and then went to " My Zen" and just copied and pasted some stuff but I still really want to know why can't I add music and files from the Zen Media Explore?? With my other zens it seemed a bit more convenient to import them through the Media Explore, I also tried going to windows media player, I believe I have version 0 or and my player can't be detected there either for syncing.
    Thanks

i am not real smart about these things, but i just bought vision m and am running vista, i had many probs some like yours, when i called in they said you can't use the cd that came in the package, you have to install from the web site. first for the zen, then for the components ie: library? rec play for sure media explorer. etc. i suggust u contact zen, cause i am not sure at all if this applies.

  • Zen vision:M-doesnt turn on for more than a second, second brand new player that isnt worki

    Hello hello.
Just bought a Zen vision:M and I just cant get it working. After troubleshooting for countless hours I finally came to the conclusion that the thing just wasnt charging properly, took it to my retailer, and instantly got a new one. Now this one is exibiting the exact same problem!
Only thing I have done is charge the player overnight with a usb power adaptor (the kind that plugs into a wall socket), then plugging it into my computer, which has all the nessecarry software properly installed already. I get a message saying windows found my new player and would like to install a driver, but it cannot find a driver on the CD or wherever windows normally finds its drivers...
Now i've had it charging in the computers front and back usb ports for hours, and when I attemt to switch it on, I get the creative logo for about 2 seconds, and then nothing, the player just turns off and starts blinking the charging sign in the upper right corner again. ZEN Vision M Series Media Explorer doesnt find the player either.]
What could I be doing wrong? It seems so hugely improbable that I got 2 faulty players in a row!
p.s. Im using japanese windows xp media center edition with sp2.

    Anybody?

  • Zen Vision M 30GB - How to edit more than one tag at once

    Hello,
I?m looking for a comfortable way to edit the tags on my player. I?ve installed ZEN Vision M Series Media Explorer, but I can only add one file at once. I?ve tried a normal tageditor, but I can't see the player in the device list.
Does anyone know a tool for editing more than one file at once ?
    Thanks
    Michel

I do it in winamp, and then i copy songs back to player .)

  • How to use Zen Vision M's playl

There are playlist already in the player that says "Music rated at 4 or 5 stars" or "Music played in the last month" but when I go there it says playlist empty. And there are no Player list on the Zen Vision:M Series Media explorer.

Well, I contacted Creative's support staff today. Summary: there is nothing to do except reformat my ZVM and start over from scratch. Not exactly a solution, but that's the state of things as of today. If anyone else runs into this problem, please contact Creative so as to give them incenti've to fix this bug as soon as possible. Of course, I could also state the obvious that the best solution is to support standard playlist functions or importing of standard playlists. THAT would make LOTS of people happy!
    That's all folks.
[EDIT] I found a fix that didn't involve formatting the dri've. Support sent me a link (http://us.creative.com/support/kb/article.asp?l=3&sid=4794) to walk me through the formatting process and I decided to try "Clean up" first. It messed with a couple of my settings, but cleaned off the nasty empty playlists and meant I didn't have to transfer all my music again. Whew!Message Edited by digiman on 07-06-2006 09:27 AM

  • Two problems with Zen Vision: M

Hi all. I'll give my player's specs before describing the problem(s):Zen Vision: M 30 GBVersion .40.02 Anyway, I've had my Zen for about 4 months now, and up until now, it's worked perfectly. Recently, for the first time, it froze on me. I figure it was because I was shuffling through songs on random too quickly, as I see other people have had this problem too. So I reset the player, but it only rebuilt halfway; on the "Rebuilding" screen, the green line stops about halfway through. Now, whereas I once had about 2600 songs I'm down to a little over 000. I didn't think it was that big of a problem; I've either got all my songs backed up on my computer or CD. But when I connected the Zen to my computer, my computer couldn't read the device. Sort of, that is. My Zen can still charge through my computer and when I plug it into the computer, a message will pop up asking me what I'd like to do with the MP3 device. However, when I go to Zen Vision: M Series Media Explorer, I get the message "Your player is not connected. Please connect your Zen Vision: M Series to the computer." I went through the FAQ at the top of the message board and tried basically every solution outside of trying the Zen on another computer. I'm thinking it's a problem with the player, not my computer. It still acts erratically at times- like, if I leave it off for an extended amount of time and turn it on, it'll go into rebuilding mode. Other than that, though, it's fine. Could the hard dri've be corrupted Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem. It all started yesterday when I was installing the cd drivers in my new computer. I have searched numerous forums and some people had to return the product. Please admins help on this issue as I understand it is very serious.

  • ZEN Vision M - Media Explo

I am using Windows Vista Business Ed. 64bit
I have downloaded latest Media Explorer (released 4th May) and every time I try to install it I get message "Unable to detect device"...
The strange thing is that the device itself is visible to the system... when I connect player normally without any drivers / software I can see it in My computer liky My ZEN and I can browse its content etc.. (WMP does not see player like this, thats is also strange)
When I switch player disk to "removable disk mode" its properly detected by WMP... but it does not help because any files that are transfered this way are not accessible by player in "normal mode" ...
Luckily I have 2nd PC with Win XP ehere everything is working ok.. but I really want to make it work under Vista. ..
Any thoughts ?Message Edited by blackdave on 05-9-2007:53 AM

    Hello together!
In my bad english I?ll give you a solution from germany. I have find two ways after many testings before 2 weeks. Maybe Creative should pay me for that. :-(
. Not the good way, but possible
Open the registry an go to:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\DesktopProcess
Set it from 0 to . This will run the Explorer in more instances singular for desktop, task-bar etc.
If the crash form Zen comes, only the windows-explorer crashes "smart".
    2. The better way!
    The cause for the total-crash is the Creative-File "ShCtMtp.dll" -> x:\programs\creative\creative zen vision m
It seems to be a problem with the integreation of this file-features in the windows-explorer.
Now the solution! Download the tool Shellxview (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html). Start it and go to the entry "Zen Vision:M Media Explorer". Then set Deactivation to YES. After reboot of XP the windows-explorer will no more crash!!! :-) BUT if you will use the Zen you MUST to the same procedure backwards and set it to YES. That very boring, but much better than the crashes every time.
Hope I can help you a little bit!

  • Use of Zen Vision M with in car media player functionali

I have an Alfa Romeo car which has the "Blue & me" option. This supports media players syncronised via Windows Media player to play music back via the in car entertainment system (plugged in via a USB port in the car).
I have successfully used an Apple ipod(syncronised with MP3 files) and a NOMAD MUVO player but cannot get my new Zen Vision M to be recognised by the system in the car. Does anyone have experience of this and any possible soltuions?
    Many thanks
    Paul

I have just bought an Alfa with Blue & Me media player and would like to know how to get around the problem of my Zen not being recognised by the system. I have used a friends ipod?and it worked so I know that the actual car system works. I have contacted Alfa but they have just turned it around and asked me to contact Creative for a solution, (and let them know the outcome!!)? which I have done and are still awaiting a reply. I would be grateful if anybody has come up with a solution to this problem if they could let me know. Hoping for an answer . GW

  • Creative Zen Vision M Media Explorer does not work on Vi

I plugged in my device, all I can see was the name of the device under Portable Devices.
When I access Media Explorer, it said my device is not connect but in fact it actually is.
If I copy a file via Portable Devices, it automatically freezes up my computer.
Any idea how to resolve this problem?
    Best regards,

You should be able to use WMP 2 to sync your files to the player . As long as the files have album art it will transfer. You can not add the album art to files that are already one the player .You would have to delete & then sync the files that have the art. Also You may be able to use the Zen Vision M Explorer for Vista on the Win7 just install using compatibilty mode for Vista (if Win7 has that as an option) there was one written for 64 bit systems as well as 32 bit. You can tell which is which by the file name. 64 is in the file name for a 64bit system/ 32 in the 32 bit system file name.http://support.creative.com/Products...VARSET=prodfaq:PRODFAQ_433,VARSET=CategoryID:23 Click on View all Downloads

  • Zen Vision M Recognized by XP Pro, but not by Creative Media Organizer or other transfer softw

I have a Zen Vision M. It worked perfectly for months. Suddenly, it wouldn't turn on. I started it in Rescue Mode, did a clean up and several reboots. It started doing a rebuild on every start. Now when I plug it into the USB port, my computer recognizes it. It gives me the portable device icon in the task bar. But, if I try to use it with Windows Media Player 0, Creative Mediasource, Organizer or anything else, it says the device is not connected. I have checked Device Manager, and it shows up. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Zen software. I have no issues with device drivers in the Device Manager. It just simply will not show up as connected on any software to transfer music.
If I connect it to the USB, it goes into dock mode. When I boot up any of the software, it shows the docking arrows moving. It's like everything is ok except the one important piece - not being recognized by the various software needed to transfer music.
Please help!? I have a Dell Dimension 8400. I run Windows XP Pro with ALL updates, and SP2. It is completely up to date with all critical updates for XP Pro. This came out of the blue and I have no explanation for it. I hadn't used it for about 3 days, but it worked perfectly up until I turned it on that last time when I got nothing and had to go through all the clean up, reboots, etc. I have done 2 clean ups so far.
Please advise what to do next.
    Thanks.

Ok. I checked my version of XP. It is XP Pro, Version 2002, SP2. I checked and already had the 2 hotfixes that were listed as being needed before proceeding. I followed all the steps and changed the registry key on "everyone" as the instructions stated to do. My ZVM is still not recognized by any of the software for transferring or organizing MP3's. My computer still recognizes that it is attached. It still gives me the device icon in the task bar. It still says it's A-ok in the Device Manager. It does everything, except it is not detected by ANY of my music software. <sigh>? Frustration is at its peak for me right now. I really appreciate all of the efforts. I'm at my wits end now. I have done everything you have indicated I should, but am getting the same results. I did purchase an extended warranty from Circuit City where I purchased this last summer. Is that the next step? Do I need to get this replaced?I love this player and really don't want to go through this again. We had to exchange it twice in the first month because it froze up and wouldn't do a thing. This last one has been perfect. I keep it in a leather padded case at all times. It never has the battery drained. It never gets jostled or bumped or dropped or anything that might damage it. When not being played, it stays on my desk in the case.
Thanks so much for any and all help.
