Cannot pickup Disks\Luns in Device Manager

Hi,
We've recently re-installed to Windows Server 2008 R2, and wanted to assign Storage to our server.
HBA we're using is a Qlogic which came with SANSurfer, however upon assigning the luns. The luns are not visible within device manager or disk management. When we take a look in SANSurfer the connections (storage array controllers) to the LUNs
are visible there but not the disk arrays.
Anyone come across this before?
Thanks

Hi,
I'm not familiar with Qlogic or SANSurfer. I assume it is a client side app which help connect to an iSCSI SAN.
Please first have a try to remove any active process, check if firewall is disabled, then recreate the connection to see the result.
As it may be caused by SANSurfer, you could also try to connect their support for further information. As a test you can try Microsoft iSCSI software initiator to see if it will work. This could help us confirm whether or not it is caused by SANSurfer.
If you have any feedback on our support, please send to [email protected]

    Hi there  @Eliyana
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that your Webcam is not working and does not appear within device manager. I am happy to assist.
This document is pretty much a catchall of webcam related issues. There is a section specifically for the device not  appearing in device manager. Check it out, unfortunately if it does not resolve with that then it is likely either a loose connection or fault in the device.

  • L7580 All-in-1 is listed as a disk drive by Device Manager! What gives?

Disk manager lists my officejet L7580 as "HP Officejet Pro L7 USB Device" under Disk drives. Is this an error? Do I need to reinstall the driver? I'm having some other problems with the printer that I'm trying to track down and am wondering whether this might be a lead to the problems.

I am having the same issue with the HP Officejet Pro.  (Model is 8510)    Will not connect the printer via the USB port or wireless.  Imaging Devices displays HP Officejet Pro 8610.  Other devices displays Unknown device.
Deleted the device from Disk drives but it comes back just as soon as I connect the printer to the PC.  Earlier my problem was that 5 or 6 .inf files were not in the C:/windows/inf folder.
4 hours wasted trying to get a printer on my PC.

  • I keep getting the error message "This iPod cannot be used because Apple Device Manager Service is not started." HELP!!

Yeah, so I keep getting that error message. The thing is that the service IS running, and it's set to "automatic". I've reinstalled every shred of Apple software on my PC, I've updated my virus software, and yet it still isn't working. I'm at a dead end here, so any help would be great.

I FIXED IT! Oh sweet Jesus Mary and Bob....
So after much scouring of the Googles, I found that the source of the problem was a little program called FoxyProxy Video Utility. It was causing various Windows services to crash--AMDS being the most noticeable. I uninstalled that program and PRESTO, my iPod shows up on iTunes!

  • I cannot see my iPod in my iTunes or in Computer in Windows 7, but it shows up in the Device Manager

I am running Windows 7 and have had no problems with with the 3 iPods we connect, but as of a couple days ago, the computer will no longer recognize them. Other USB devices (flash drives and Android phone) have no problem being recognized. Additionally, if I have my iPod plugged in before I start iTunes, my laptop will not open iTunes until I unplug my iPod. My laptop will also not shut down if my iPod is plugged in, and will only shut down if I unplug it. It will recognize that my iPod is plugged in and connected (it lights up and charges), but does not show up in the My Computer. The iPod is recognized in Device Manager.  Also, when I unplug any of the iPods, it will show up for just a second in the My Computer before disappearing. I have tried the following:
    Restart computer
Uninstall/reinstall iTunes and all Apple programs
Renaming for a higher drive (Other drives aren't in E: drive)
Putting anti-virus programs on my computer and doing a full-scan
    Disk defragment
Deleting Temp folder (I have stopped all programs on my laptop and it still won't let me)
Stopped iTunes/Apple services and re-enabled them
    Updating Driver Software
    Please Help

have had no problems with with the 3 iPods we connect, but as of a couple days ago, the computer will no longer recognize them.
The problem is with ALL of the iPods, at the same time?  Are they are shuffles?
It is unlikely that three iPods would go bad at the same time, so the other possibilities are bad USB cable, the bad USB port on computer, or a software issue on computer?
If these are different types of iPods and you are using different USB cables, that probably rules out bad USB cable.  Since the iPod is recognized by the computer and other devices are recognized, that probably rules out a problem with the USB port.  So, that leave a software issue on computer as the most likely cause.
Did you install any new software (or change the setting of software) on the computer at the time this problem started, particularly something that runs continuously in the background, such as security software?
You've trying uninstalling and re-installing Apple software.  Is there a way you can disable other third-party software systematically?

  • I have an IPod Nono 2 Gen  when connected to Itunes it shows up but when i try to open it it just disapperas from screen and I have to reconnect ipod to get it back. Also I cannot find my Ipod in the Device Manager on my PC, Can anyone help please

My IPOD Nono 2nd Gen showes up in ITunes but when I clike on it it just disapears and the only way to get IPOD Icon back is to disconnect it from PC then reconnect it when agin the icon apperas but when selected just disapears. Also I cannot Find the IPOD in the device Manager on PC not sure if this is cause of problem. The IPOD worked OK up to 4 weeks ago Can any one help please?

Try one or more of the following:
    > Restart Your Computer
    > Uninstall and Reinstall iTunes
    > Reset iPod (nothing will get deleted)
    > Look in My Computer (Windows 98, XP) OR Computer (Windows Vista or 7) and see if your iPod is in there.
In some cases (and this happened to me before) plug your iPod in and out your computer a few times. It should get it going. If not, then I strongly recommend starting your computer.

  • Cannot See Nano in Device Manager, ITunes or Ipod Updater

Help! I purchased a new Nano 3 weeks ago and I have been struggling with it ever since. I had it working very briefly, with some songs loaded. However, I then applied the lastest update (03-23) and my nano hasn't worked since. I've tried everything. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. The Nano does not show up in Windows Device Manager, and it does not show up in Itunes or in ipod Updater. In all the postings I've read with suggested solutions the nano was at least showing up SOMEWHERE. Mine doesn't show up in any of the three places. The songs I had loaded onto the Ipod disappeared, although they still show on my computer in ITunes. I have 2 USB 2.0 ports, and I've tried switching between those, but that still doesn't work. I am able to plug my Palm into either of the 2 ports and do a Hotsync, so I know the ports themselves do work. One post suggested putting the nano into disk mode before opening up the ipod updater. I have tried and tried to get my nano into disk mode and I can't get it to do that. The Apple logo comes up, I try to press Select and Play/Pause but it just comes up with the language selection list. I click on "English" and it brings up the regular menu. I do remember my computer restarting with the Nano still connected when I was working on this problem early on. Could that have damaged something or reset something? I've spent hours and hours over the past couple weeks on this problem and I'm truly stumped. Can anyone help? At this point I don't know what else to do except take it back to Best Buy. Thank you in advance to anyone who can advise.

I tried googling for HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool and found a page apparently on the HP web site that describes this tool, but when I click on the link to download the tool I get a bad address error. I tried searching the HP site for the tool without success. Any suggestions GailPod? Do you have a working link for the tool you recommended?
Also, I thought my PC was completely current on software. I'm set to receive automatic updates from Microsoft. However I checked the Microsoft site this morning and discovered that while there weren't any High Priority updates that I didn't have, there were 7 optional software updates available that I had not yet installed. I installed those this morning and that has changed the symptoms of my problem.
Prior to installing the updates my computer was not recognizing my nano unless I rebooted with the nano attached. If I did that then I got the "Found New Hardware Apple ipod USB Device" message and the little removable storage icon appeared to the far right of the Start taskbar.
After installing the updates this morning my computer does not recognize my nano at all. Even if I reboot with the nano attached I no longer get the "Found New Hardware..." message and the little icon no longer appears. However, in Device Manager an "Unknown Device" now shows up in the USB list a few seconds after I plug in my nano. I've tried to update the driver for that device, and it says I have the most current driver. I checked c:\windows\inf (per someone else's posting) and I do have usbstor.inf. Based on the last update date it appears to be the original one from when we purchased our computer approximately 4 1/2 years ago.
I continue to be able to successfully plug other devices, such as my Palm, into my USB 2.0 ports. My Palm works fine in either of my two USB 2.0 ports.
Of the 7 updates I installed this morning, 2 were for XP, 2 were for Windows Media Player, 1 was for Windows Connect and 1 was .NET. I guess I'm wondering if the Windows Connect and/or Windows Media Player updates didn't result in the change I've seen today.
It seems like this problem has to be software related. I just wish Microsoft or Apple or both would figure it out. Anyone have any new suggestions?

  • 2nd HDD not recognized in Win7 Disk Manager, Shows in Device Manager, BIOS, Win7 Repair CD

    Hello,
I am trying to add a newly purchased HDD to my laptop as the secondary HDD.  The primary is a 160 GB SSD.
Primary SSD: Intel 160 GB SSD model SSDSA2BW160G3H
Secondary HDD: WD 750 GB 7200 RPM SATA/300, Model WDBLHJ7500ANC-NRSN
Laptop: HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 Quad 17.3" laptop
Laptop Config: Intel i7-3720QM 2.6 GHz Quad Core, 8 GB RAM, nVidia GT650M, 160 GB SSD
    Laptop BIOS: F.24
    Laptop Date of Birth: 5/24/2012
    OS: Win 7 Prof x64
Shows up in BIOS (can run diagnostics OK).
Shows up in Win 7 Prof Device Manager.
Does NOT show up in Disk Manager.
Checked device drivers for Win7 Prof Device Manager HDD, have the latest.
Checked service manual, can't see anything that I missed.
Booted with Active@BootDisk (Win PE rescue disk), drive showed up as uninitialized.
Initialized drive, partitioned (one large), formatted NTFS.
Booted with Win 7 Repair Disk (Win PE), can see the drive in command prompt, able to write a text file to it OK.
Still won't show up in Win 7 Prof in Disk Manager.
Any ideas?  Maybe a firmware upgrade for the laptop?  Some kind of incompatibility with the HDD and SDD such as different dirve modes (don't believe that Win7 has issues with IDE versus AHCI devices)?
I had trouble adding a 2nd HDD to my dv7-6000 laptop; it finally just showed up months later. Is this common with HP laptops?
I am stumped and any help is appreciated.  I checked the Internets and didn't see anything other than HW issues. I need this to work for the new semester that started today.

    More testing:
WD Data Lifeguard (Western Digital's HDD diagnostics) also won't see the HDD after booting with Win 7 Prof off of the SSD.
Moved the HDD cable from the 2nd HDD to the primary header (SSD disconnected).  Was able to install another instance of Win7 on the 2nd HDD OK; this proves that the new WD HDD and the secondary cable are OK.  Moved the cable back to the 2nd header (still no SSD) and the computer booted off of the secondary HDD connected to the secondary header OK.
Added the SSD back to the primary header and booted into the instance of Win7 off of the SSD.  Disk Management can't see the 2nd HDD, WD Data Lifeguard can't see the 2nd HDD; however, Device Manager is able to see the 2nd HDD OK.
Ran Intel SSD toolbox on SSD; no issues.  Ran WD Align by Acronis on SSD (checks for advanced format alignment of 4K boundaries); it's already aligned to 4k boundaries.
Connected HDD to pri header, booted Win7 Ultimate on HDD.  Ran WD Data Lifeguard on HDD; it's fine.   Booted into WD Align by Acronis CD, ran WD align against HDD; it's already aligned to 4k boundaries.
Put HDD on pri header, SSD on secondary header and booted into Win7 Ultimate on HDD.  Able to see both drives in Dask Management.
Put SSD back onto primary header, HDD back onto 2nd header, booted into Win7 Prof on SSD.  Disk Management can't see the HDD again...
Updated laptop BIOS from F.24 to F.2D rev A (Install Shield Wizard confirms that it is for Win7 x64 as well as Win 8.1).  Didn't fix the issue...
Ran Intel Driver Update Utility.  I have the Intel RST (Rapid Store Technology) driver v 11.0.0.1032.  Did not state that I needed to upgrade this driver.  This is latest version on the HP website.
Everything works except having the SSD connected to the primary header, having the HDD connected to the secondary header, booting into Win7 Prof on the SSD and trying to see the HDD in Disk Management.  Unfortunately, this is the configuration that I need to work.
Any thoughts on what is causing this?  Hardware issue with HP Laptop?  Power supply issue?  Bad HDD controller?  Bad install of Win7 Prof on SSD (appears to run fine otherwise).

dv2915nr cd/dvd drive doesn't recognize when disk in. drive doesnt show up in device manager.

    Hi,
Here's one option you could try as it will give a good indication whether the problem is with Windows or a Hardware issue with the optical drive itself.
    Create a bootable Ubuntu CD
The Ubuntu CD you create should run as you boot the notebook ( ie outside of Windows operating system ), so if this will not run, the problem is almost certainly a Hardware issue with the DVD drive
On another PC, follow the procedure on the link below to create a bootable Ubuntu CD and follow the steps in Part 3 to 'Try it' to see if this OS will run from the CD.  The 'try it' option does not need to install on the Hard Drive, it just runs from the CD.
    http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download
Let me know if this will run.

  • In device manager it says code 10 - this device cannot start (read message)

In device manager next to the icon for pioneer DVD-RW DVR K17A Device it has a yellow ! triangle and when i click on it, it says this device cannot start code 10. I got the laptop in June and hadnt noticed the problem til now. When i followed instructions to possbily install updated drivers/software i did so but was told i am up to date.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I had this exact problem yesterday. I suspect you're running Vista right? The other guy made a good point about saying what machine you've got and what OS you run, so I offer this advice with the disclaimer that I can't be 100 per cent sure it's your problem. However, I've had the exact same problem (referencing the "code 10") recently on my laptop which runs Vista. I called up support and they said there's a bunch of software, especially for things like MP3 players and digital cameras, which is compatible with vista +but+ causes the DVD / CD drive to stop working. He directed me to a page that talks you through a registry patch, which both he and the page itself advises is a little risky. That said, I did the patch and now the DVD / CD drive works. Or that is, it actually reads the DVD before citing some other reason why it can't be played (some worthless advice about reducing screen resolution and colour quality - haven't got any ideas about that have you?).
Here is the address of the page with the registry patch:
    support.microsoft.com/kb/929461
Again, I'm not a techie, I'm not at all expert about dealing with computer probs and since I don't know what OS you're running and on what machine I can't be sure this applies to you. But it seems like it does.

  • Java ME SDK 3.0-"Cannot connect to device manager" on port 1299 error HELP!

    Hello,
I am running Vista 32 bit. I just downloaded the Java ME sdk 3.0. It installed "successfully". I just tried to launch it several times and it gets stuck in the error below. In summary, something about "Connection refused to host: localhost; DeviceManagerConnection error". Why am I getting that error? This is the first time I installed this.
I run netstat -an, and nothing shows that something is taking up my 1299 port. Also "ping localhost" returns ::1:. And my hosts file looks good. Windows Defender and Firewall are both off. Does anyone have had this issue in the past? If so, please kindly let me know how you resolved it. Thank you.

    Hi there,
I believe I am having the problem reported by the first person in this thread.
In fact, I installed NetBeans and ran a Java ME sample and it gave me the following error
Jad URL for OTA execution: http://localhost:8082/servlet/org.netbeans.modules.mobility.project.jam.JAMServlet/C%3A/Users/Afamefuna/Documents/NetBeansProjects/CurrencyConverter3/dist//CurrencyConverter3.jad

Of course, I went to the file but the stipulated line didn't make much sense. Eventually, I seperately installed Java(TM) ME Platform SDK 3.0, but when I doubled clicked on its icon to open it, the initial splashscreen showed up, but when the progress bar got to "+{color:#ff0000}starting modules....{color}+", it gave me a java.net.ConnectionException error.
When I went to the generated log file, amongst other things, it also contained the following snippet

From the above I can only imagine there is a problem with the device manager set-up for SDK, but how can it be solved?
The device manager icon shows up in the windows toolbar, however, the "device manager" menu choice is greyed out.
This same problem was replicated in my friend's PC, so I am certain this has to do with low-grade packaging/programming from the vendor end.
Please how do I solve this problem? I am hoping that solving one problem, resolves the other.
    thanks
