Cannot pinch/zoom with trackpad when in Mail

When using Mail (and Lion), full screen, the trackpad does not respond to pinch/zoom or control/2 fingers up. Is the zoom feature of trackpad supposed to work in Mail? It does work in Safari.

Mail doesn't support the pinch/zoom feature. It does support CNTL scroll up zoom feature though.
Some people have found cntl scroll up zoom feature quits working occasionally. I've had it happen once or twice. In this case you can put the screen to sleep and then wake it, the feature will operate again.
I defined an active screen corner for this is purpose in System Preferences > Mission Control > hot corners.. button.

There are two places on settings where you can tunr zoom on or off for the trackpad.
They both need to be on for it to work.
The first is under: system preferences>trackpad>scroll & zoom, then you just need to chekc the box to turn zoom on. ( this is the one you already have checked i think)
The second is under: system preferences>universal access>seeing, then check the box that says zoom.

Vertical Pinch Zoom with Logic 9 & Lion

Trying to figure out an easy way to do a vertical zoom in Logic 9 and Lion
Back in the old days (last week) when I used logic 8 and lepoard, it was easy with cntl up/dn (or something like that, my fingers know the routine)
The pinch work fine for horizontal zoom with the new setup, but how do I do a vertical zoom? (The old cntl/up thing doesnt seem to work any longer.)

So far, everything seems as stable as before. Which doesn't actually mean its rock solid, but otherwise workable. I'm running a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24DSP with beta audio drivers. So far, everything is running well. I decided to jump into the 64bit work environment with Logic. I have yet to encounter huge problems with the 32bit audio bridge. Just making sure I bounce everything that is 32bit.
As for everything else within Logic, I can't say I hate Lion. Matter of fact, Lion seems buggier than Logic at the moment. Logic handles well in Lion, but Lion on its own overall is a different can of worms. I am mixed about a 10.7.1 update. Usually, it fixes something on the OS, but breaks something else in Logic.
I have faith that Lion will turn out to be as solid as Snow Leopard. SL was my favorite OSX so far. Lion still leaves allot to be desired in terms of stability.
Again, answer to your question: for me, Logic and Lion play nice.............for now.

Problem with openURL when sending Mail

I am trying to send mail from my app using
[[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL: [NSURL URLWithString:emailData]];
emailData contains a google URL that i want to send via email:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=45.578982,-73.565698&daddr=45.578982,-73.5 65698
my problem is that on Mail app it is showing on the following portion
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d
i did a couple of tests and find out that the problem is with the "&" i tried & or & did not work cause as soon as it finds teh "&" it drop the whole string that comes after it.
Any help on how I should format this string to appear correctly on my email will be greatly appreciated

You missed the point of my reply. You need to escape anything that you send. When you send 'http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=45.578982,-73.565698&daddr=45.578982,-73 .565698' it's just not going to work. As mentioned, you need to Google how to escape variables when sent via GET. Not to mention, your openURL command is wrong as well:
[UIApplication sharedApplication openURL: NSURL URLWithString:emailData];
Where emailData is:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=45.578982,-73.565698&daddr=45.578982,-73.565698
will absolutely never work. Check the docs for how to use openURL for sending an email using the mailto: protocol. Also, if the emailData that you send using openURL: doesn't look like the escaped string from this tool: http://www.xs4all.nl/~jlpoutre/BoT/Javascript/Utils/endecode.html you aren't properly escaping your URL params.

The cursor freezes when I pinch zoom using the Lenovo Thinkpad T410 trackpad while Firefox is open.

This happens only on Firefox, not other browsers. In Firefox, when the cursor freezes after a pinch zoom, the track point still works.

By default a new window should open the cursor in the search field on the page. Resetting Firefox will get you back to the default on about:support page.

Folio inconsistencies with pinch & zoom

I Am having an inconsistent pinch & zoom reaction in my folio. Some times PNZ will work immediately on a page and some times it will take up to three tries. the same page can have different reactions when you leave it and come back. double tap always works immediately on page load.
The problem is the same whether the folio is in Content Viewer, ether published or unpublished, or built as an app from App Builder. The reaction is slightly faster on my iPad Air then on my iPad mini (non-retina). I cannot recreate the problem with Bob's March of Dimes app. So, I'm guessing it's the folio/articles.
THe articles in folio are from a print project built in Indesign. The print catalog contains a mix of graphics from Photoshop and illustrator. The articles have four layers (top-to-bottom) header, content, search, and footer.
Header - a button for the search MSO and a hyper link
Content - type, graphics, and hyperlinks
Search - MSO with an HTML overlay
Footer - text and hyperlink
THe folio is about 80mb.
I Have exhausted my range of why this is happening. Any insight would be appreciated.

ANSWERING MY OWN POST:
I have tried reinstalling Mail from my Snow Leopard upgrade disk directly and tried it using Pacifist. Neither worked because both simply reinstalled version 4.0. Fortunately, I have a MacBook Pro and it has version 4.1. I copied this directly, which was not ideal (it was quite confused about my mailboxes), but it worked.
The problem is that +Software Update+ did not detect the old version of Mail and Apple does not provide a direct way (that I could find) of downloading the latest version. Each time I downloaded Mail from Apple, it was version 4.0.

I have seen this issue occur with users who have this registry setting missing or have improper permissions.
When you double click the attachment to launch the pdf it is saved and opened from the temporary folder unless saved specifically to a location.
If you dont have the below mentioned registry key or improper permissions then attachments fail to open.
Please heck if the following reg key exists:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
Value Name: OutlookSecureTempFolder
If the value exists, and if the value contains a valid path, Outlook 2010 uses that location for its temporary files.
If the registry value does not exist, or if the value points to an invalid location, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2003 creates a new subdirectory under the Temporary Internet Files directory and then puts the temporary file in the new subdirectory. Problem with Pinch & Zoom

Hi there, I have set up my folio with multiple articles, each with a horizontal and vertical orientation. I imported each article seperately as PDF format. When I view on my iPad the pinch & zoom only works on the first page, but not on the rest. However, if I set up a folio with just horizontal orientation and PDF format the pinch & zoom works on all pages. Is this a bug or is there something else I should be doing to enable pinch & zoom on all pages?

Yeah, I think this is a bug. I encountered this error.
I need to wait for a long time to bundle my folios and after that zoom didn't work, so i need to rebundle again, still dont work.
What i do is get the first page(with working zoom) and put it in all the stacks folder, and bundle it. It work, then I need to copy paste all the correct pages in each pages and rebundle it again.
Got so much work and time consuming, not very nice.
I hope Adobe will fix this, their updating the functions to worst. I just noticed.

When I try to open Mail I get an error message saying "Cannot get mail. The user name or password for Gmail is incorrect". If I press "settings" it reverts to home page. I was revised to restore settings which I have now done, but the problem has not been resolved. Can anyone help?

It may be a bit late for your needs, but there's a sync product for Outlook (an add-in) that will sync public and private folders/calendars. Once you have your items in a mailbox folder, the regular ios sync will bring it to your device. It's called Add2Outlook, it's made by DidItBetter.com Software.
It syncs private and public, mailboxes and folders in any direction. One-way, two-way, read-only or writable. It also works with Office 365 and hosted exchange providers, if that's your situation. It works for calendars, contacts, tasks, email, whatever. It can even sync to PST or between two different Exchange servers.
It installs on your workstation, not on the Exchange server.

Cannot go online with mail

I have recently joined a new ethernet network and now cannot go online with mail. Safari and othern internet applications run fine but when i try the connection doctor it says that i'm not connected to the internet.
I solved a problem on MSN by changing the proxy setting in the application, but i can't see how to do this in mail.
Can anyone please help?

The Mac OS X 10.4.7 Update introduced connection issues as a result of (according to the documentation) "Mail now supports connecting to mail servers through a SOCKS proxy". If that's the problem, you must go to System Preferences > Network and disable the SOCKS Proxy in the network configuration used to connect to the Internet, if it's enabled.
Also, go to System Preferences > Network > Show: Network Port Configurations, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.

You cannot use this version of the application Mail with this version OSX

I just installed 10.5.8 (9L30) via Software Update and now my Mail doesn't work. Instead, I get a dialog box that says "You cannot use this version of the application Mail with this version of Mac OS X." When I run it out of Terminal from /Applications/Mail.app/Contents/MacOS/Mail it runs fine, even though it is Version 3.5 (which is what shows up when I do Get Info on the Mail application in the Applications folder). This is really poor, Apple. This is basic stuff -when you upgrade the OS you have to make sure all the Apps work. How are you going to fix this?

Not everyone had the problem. Good for them. More than one person had the problem - and perhaps even more will experience it. That means there is a hole in the update process - i.e. something does not work properly in all situations. Apple is not God - they stuff up sometimes, innit? Stop defending them.
No matter whether you use a Mac or Windows machine, you need to do some basic maintenance from time to time to keep things working smoothly. Macs, overall, tend to need less, but you still need to check the hard drive from time to time, and you definitely never want to install an OS update if there's a chance you've got hard drive problems.
So if that's the case, why design an "automatic" Software Update utility that does not do a check of HD integrity if it is so vital to do such a check before installing an OS upgrade? Does that make any sense? Where do Apple recommend such a check prior to installing an OS upgrade? It's not immediately obvious do the average user. Apple have gone out of their way to make claims like "you never have to defrag a Mac". They don't mention anything about HD checks. If it's so fundamental, why not? Is it unreasonable to think that a company that prides itself on good design would think of this?

My hardrive died so I got it replaced and since I bought my macbook on ebay I have no Installation discs so got a friend to install leopard - everything so far seems ok but when I click Mail this comes up -'You cannot use this version of the application Mail with this version of Mac OS X.'. You seem to have a conflict somewhere, and it looks like you have a prior version of Mail that doesn't work with Leopard, along with the Leopard version of Mail. What version was on the Mac when you bought it, and where did the version of Leopard come from, exactly (was it a retail boxed version, or a version that shipped with another model of laptop)? Be very specific, as it does make a difference.

Open Sysem Preferences from your Apple () menu top left in your screen then select the Firewall tab.
Make sure the Firewall is turned off.
