Cannot pip in imovie

I am doing a small project in iMovie and want to insert a picture in picture from iPhoto. When doing so the picture shows above the movie clip but does not play in the browser. Movie clip freezes until the unseen picture is bypassed. A different picture only shows as a black box in the movie clip and the clip freezes and again a third photo - taken with the same camera, same day etc. - shows as it should when playing the project in the browser window. I am at a total loss why this works with some photos and not with others?? Can anyone help? And please not too complicated, I am no genius re all the "behind the software" stuff.

I have rebooted, shut down iMovie repeatedly. How do I check memory (assume remaining memory) and free disk space?
The funny thing is though, that I have done a dummy project with the same movie clip in there about six times and adding a different pip to about four of the clips. The first three in the project don't work and the last one does. I would have thought that if memory and disk space is the problem, the freeze and non showing of pip would happen on the last clip??
Any help is appreciated. I am working with the MacBook Pro, 10.6.8; Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, Processor 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, L2 Cache says 3MB. Thought about buying the new and bigger/faster MacBookPro a while back and the experts at the Apple store thought the capacity etc. of my current MacBook Pro was sufficient for what I am doing with iMovie.

The Deskjet series printers connect to wireless networks with what is called USB to Wireless.
You will need a supported operating system to connect a Deskjet to a wireless network.  Supported operating systems to connect the printer to a wireless network are Windows 7 (32bit and 64bit), Windows Vista (32bit and 64bit), and Mac OS X (10.5, 10.6, and 10.7).
While there is a software download option for Linux distributions, this is not the full featured software that is capable of adding the printer to a wireless network.  Most printers have a wireless setup wizard to accomplish this task, but the Deskjet series printers connect in a different way.
Once the printer is connected to a wireless network,  HPLIP 3.12.4 drivers should be able to locate the printer.
Click on Installing the Product Software for a Wireless Network Connection to receive instructions to connect to a wireless network using Windows and Mac operating systems.
Click on Software & Driver Downloads - HP Deskjet 3070A e-All-in-One Printer - B611a to download the appropriate software for a supported operating system to connect to a wireless network.

  • Cannot burn an iMovie project to a DVD because the computer can't find iDVD.  Anyone know how to accomplish this task.

Macs don't come bundled with iDVD anymore. If you have an older Mac that came with an iLife disk, you can install iDVD from that.
If your Mac didn't come with iDVD, you can still find iLife '11 disks in some stores.
There are other programs that can create DVDs, but I've never used them. From what I've heard, they're not as good as iDVD.

  • Cannot share to iMovie from the Quicktime x player.  I get a pop up message that says "iMovie has not been set up".

I get a pop-up window when I try to share a movie with imovie "iMovie has not been set up".  I have trashed the imovie plist and repaired permissions, I restarted imovie to see if that helps but to no avail.  It is not a major issue but it would be nice to have that option seeing as I will be using imovie more frequently since Avidemux does not work on lion.  All the other share options seem to function so I am a bit stumped as to why this option is not working.
    Thank you for your time.

I get a pop-up window when I try to share a movie with imovie "iMovie has not been set up".
Have any of you actually opened/used iMovie yet? It appears the shared file is temporarily stored in an "iMovie Drop Box" which is placed in an "iMovie Events" folder either in the "Music" folder of the current user's account on the boot drive or placed in an "iMovie Events" folder at the root level of a non-booted hard drive. It is likely that if QT X can't find/can't see any "iMovie Events" folder, it will issue the "not set up" modal message you are seeing.
When working correctly, the QT X "iMovie" shared file is placed in the "iMoviie Drop Box" folder (even if it has to create a new folder initially) where it sits until you next open iMovie. When iMovie opens, it scans all available "iMovie Events" folders and if it detects anything in the drop box, will ask you if you want to import them. During import, the files are simply moverd from the drop box to the named_Event folder you specify. Be advised that if you delete the drop box from the "iMovie Events" folder, you may later get a different modal message telling you the system cannot find the "iMovie Drop Box" the next time you try to share a QT X file to iMovie.

  • Cannot connect to iMovie

I get error message "cannot connect to iMovie theatre please try later". All other features on AppleTV work fine. I have signed out and back in to iCloud, restarted AppleTV But to no avail. Problem keeps happening. Was working fine until 2 weeks ago. I am approach my limit of iCloud storage and was going to purchase more but now I'm not convinced as this problem prevents me viewing home movies on our big screen via AppleTV.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)

    Any suggestions

    Thx Daddy,
When a started the new MBP, it asked if wanted files from another Mac and I did that. I have done this many times before.
I did check to see if any files needed update and it is now updating files and such. Will let you know what happens after that.
    Thx

  • HT1338 After upgrading from Lion to Mountain Lion I cannot update iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand

    Hi all
On my iMac 27 (2011) I see that these updates are available but clicking on "Update all" gives me  the error message "These apps cannot be accepted on this computer. Future updates will be available through "Software Updates"" Any idea?
I can, however, download apps from the app store. That works.
    Appreciate your ideas.

  • Apple TV cannot connect to iMovie Theater Channel

My Apple TV (3rd generation) CAN connect to My Music, My Films etc... but CANNOT connect anymore to the iMovie Theater Channel. The Apple TV is up to date and its "region" is correct. It happened when I updated my iMac to Yosemite and to the new iMovie application. But the home made movies on the iMovie Theater were posted before the Yosemite update and I had no trouble connecting to them. Thank you in advance.

    Greetings bacave,
If you are having an issue with using iMovie Theater with your Apple TV since updating your computer's operating system to Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
Use iMovie Theater with iOS 8 or OS X Yosemite - Apple Support

  • Cannot find the iMovie application

I just started teaching at a new school which uses iMacs. The students in my classes are doing video work, and need iMovie. For some reason I cannot find iMovie in the applications folder (nor any of the subfolders). It doesn't show up in a search either. When I use spotlight and find iMovie projects, however, the program will open. How can I find the .app file (I'm assuming that's what I'm looking for, but I'm not really a mac poweruser yet so I'm not sure) and put it back in the applications folder then put it back on the dock?
I also don't have access to the original install disc, so I have to fix this without reinstalling anything.
    Thanks!

Perfect, thanks a ton. The kids renamed the thing 0.app for some reason, that's why I couldn't find it

  • HELP, iDVD 08 cannot find my iMove 6 HD movie

Hated iMovie 08 so I downloaded the iMovie 6 HD. Built my movie in 6 HD and selected share with iDVD. Problem is iDVD cannot see any movie for me to drag it into the movie section so I can burn my DVD. It only seems to recognize the movies I tried to create with the newer iMovie 08.
Surely, there is a way for me to get my iMovie 6HD project into iDVD 08 so I can burn, right? Please help.

How did you share / export your movie to iDvd'08 from iM6?
    Was it like this?
    1. Click Here:
    Like this perhaps?
    2. Click Here:
    3. Or did you use the media/ movies pane within iDvd itself?
    4. There is a 4th approach also (drag and drop of the QT movie to iDvd).
If none of the above works for you, then try a different QT file /movie. If that too fails (and assuming you have at least 25GB's on your main HD/Boot volume) then you need to consider a re-installation of the software. (but I'm hopeful that won't be necessary).

  • Cannot create an iMovie

I have uploaded my video into the new iMovie. It is there but I cannot get it to create a file. I go through the steps and see a Creating iMovie image in Theater, but no activity monitor appears and it sits there for hours doing nothing.

It appears to be working now - at least the blue dial has appeared and shows a little progress on the dial. I will keep monitoring it. Thanks for replying.

  • Cannot open old iMovie project

I have an old iMovie project from 2008 that I cannot open.
If I double-click it, terminal opens.
Recommended applications are Textwrangler, Terminal.... not really the right thing to watch a movie.
Final Cut Pro X cannot read the file, because it's in the "bundle" format. Quicktime is also grayed out.
Is this some weird format that is no longer readable by anything? Or can I turn it into an .mp4 file?
    Thanks.

iMovie doesn't support importing one iMovie project to another. When we try, we get exactly the error you quoted.
You can, however, import all the Timeline video and audio as a single clip to a new project. Or you can drag files from the Media folder of the project to the Timeline of a NEW project.
In the Finder, Control-click on the project icon and choose Show Package Contents from the popUp menu. You'll see the movie "Timeline Movie.mov" in the window that opens. You want to import that movie to a new project, or import selected files in the Media folder.
To import, drag the file to the Timeline of a NEW iMovie project. If importing the Timeline Movie, everything on the Timeline of the original project will arrive as a single clip in the new project.
If the project failed on the external drive, it may be because the disk does not use the disk format required by iMovie. Use Disk Utility to check the disk format, which must be "Mac OS Extended". If it's not that format, use Disk Utility to reformat the drive. (Which will erase all the files on the drive, so make backups.)

  • Cannot import into iMovie from iDVD

I have started to save my movies from my Sony Camera onto DVD using iDVD OneStep. But now I have discovered that I cannot use these DVD's to import the into iMovie.
    Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks

probably you misunderstand the concept and workflow of the diff. iLife apps:
iDVD is the Disk Maker of iLife. no editor, no Movie Maker (allthough you're allowed to do basic things as slideshows etc...)
for editing, you have to import from camera via iMovie..
when editing is done, you share to iDVD, which finally produces the disks.. end of the road.
    have you seen the tutorials?
