Please I need help I have no idea how to fix this I am just placing an image with file - place embedded and this shows up on EVERY SINGLE IMAGE I place ( including sample pictures on windows for a test to see if it was just my picture )

The way it should work is
1:) You click on menu item menu File>Place Embedded
2:) The place Embedded file selection dialog opens
3:) You navigate to a folder like desktop
4:) You highlight a file like untitled.png
5;) You Click on the Place button
6:) the untitled.png image is added as a smart object layer and your put into the Place Transform Dialog with the outline control box with drag point and a center rotate point.
7:) You size and position the image using the transform dialog.
At what point do you get that pop up message window.

Up until about 3pm yesterday, illustrator CS6 and Photoshop CS6 worked without a hitch however at 3pm, I all of a sudden get the message 'Could not place because the source rectangle is empty'. All I was doing was dragging one of our company logos into Photoshop from Illustrator from the .eps file that holds all our graphics. I have done this hundreds of timnes before and ALWAYS either do it this way or highlight an image in Illustrator and paste into Photoshop. Either way I am still getting this error message.
Nothing has happened in the settings (that I am aware of) and google gives me numerous results all of which point at the fact that i may have a corrupt .eps file. However that is not the case. If i try and drag and drop or copy and paste various different fiele from .jpg to .png and .eps or .ai I have the same issue.
I uninstalled Photoshop this morning then re-installed to see if that would fix the issue but no such luck.
As it is, it is affecting my work and sure there are workarounds ie. if I go to file/open and open any file that way then that works but that is no good with an eps file that holds many seperate graphics as once that is opened in Photoshop, all those seperate images become one image.
Can anyone help with this?

Thanks for the heads up. To be honest, I don't recall ever setting any preferences so shouldn't be a problem resetting them. You do mean the Photoshop preferences don't you?
FYI, the version of photoshop I had in my other office (where I didn't encounter this issue) was one below the version I had (not as in CS5 but the software version I was running) the issue on and there was an update so did that update so now both machines are identical and running exactly the same OS and Photoshop version but still have the issue.
Willtry resetting the preferences tomorrow when I'm in the office.

Every time I try to use the Photomerge scene cleaner I keep getting the same error message - could not complete the command because the source rectangle is empty. Does anyone have any idea why I keep getting this message and how to solve this problem? I am new to Photoshop Elements and am using version 8.0.

I am sorry to hear about your problem. I spent hours on the phone with Adobe to get my problem resolved. Here is what i can suggest to you. Call Adobe, but do it first thing when they open (before 6 am Pacific I think they are on Eastern time zone hours) that way you won't have to spend two hours on hold waiting to talk with someone. What worked for me for was uninstalling the program, creating a new user profile on Windows, and then re-installing the software on the new user profile. I then work with my photos from my back up hard drive where I back them all up anyway. I suggest calling Adobe because uninstalling the program and then re-installing it seemed really long and involved and if you are unsure about it, it is best to have technical support on the line. Whatever you do, do not copy your old profile (where the program isn't working properly) in its entirety over to the new profile. You will recreate the same problem on the new profile if you do that (that happened to me too while working with the Adobe people and we had to start all over). There is likely some type of file (I am assuming you are working with Windows rather than a Mac) that is interfering with the program's operation. That seemed to be the case for me. ONce a new "clean" profile was created, the problem went away for me. Before you hang up with Adobe, try executing the function that you want to use several times. I actually had a situation where it worked once and then didn't work anymore! I had to call Adobe again, spend hours on the phone, and then finally get the problem solved with the new profile. It has to be a bug in their program but they won't admit it. They tried to tell me I was the only one having this problem (I use Photoshop 8).

Every time I attempt to save a webpage (.html format) I get a message indicating that some .js-type file was not saved because the source file could not be read.
I did some "cleanup" of add-ons because there were so many. Is it possible I deactivated one that I need to read .js files, or could/would it be something else?

I had to get a new hard drive for my Satellite A665 old one kept freezing up; had a recovey disk from Geek Squad when I got it but they did not work. So I ordered a Recovery Disc set from Toshiba.
A few minutes after I insert the 3nd disc, I get the following message:

It's hard to know exactly what the problem is. You might want to contact customer support because it could just be a faulty disc.

From the 10.1.2 BI Beans Install Guide it says:
OracleBI Beans supports data stored in Oracle9i Enterprise Edition or Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition. However, only particular releases and patchsets are supported:
* Oracle9i Release 2 Enterprise Edition, as follows:
o 9.2.0.6 for all platforms.
o 9.2.0.5 with the latest OLAP patch for Windows-only.
* Oracle Database 10g Release 1 Enterprise Edition with the latest OLAP patch.
From the error message it would appear that the Database is not one of the above.

1)Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.2.0 - Production
With the Partitioning, OLAP and Data Mining options
2)Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production
With the Partitioning and Real Application Clusters options
JServer Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production
Pls let us know the solution to resolve this problem ASAP.

You are not using a supported version of the database. BI Beans/OLAP only support the following database versions:
10g - 10.1.0.3 with additional OLAP patch
9i - 9205 with additional OLAP patch
9i - 9206
I would suggest that you have not applied all the required database patches to your instance.

I tried to download and after a while, this error message: ''[filename] could not be saved because the source file could not be read.'' I've been on google searching but I could not find the answer can someone PLEASE help me. it happened when downloading a game and I've already seen a few times before but it was less important.

This problem isn't only happening with Firefox 4, for windows, as the System Details, and Tags indicate.
I'm using a Mac laptop (OS X 10.5.8 -- Leopard), using Firefox 6, and have been having this problem with large files for quite a while ... possibly since FF 4, but definitely with FF 5. The large files I've had the problem with are in the 500 - 900 MB range, and from commercial sites as well as most recently with a zip file containing photos from a friend which he uploaded to dl.dropbox.com ... attempted it numerous times, after trying the various suggested "fixes", and each time at around 255 MB, the download quits, with the error that file cannot be read from the server.
The various proposed solutions I've found on the web -- resetting the user configured options connected to downloads in FF config (about:config); deleting the compreg.dat file in the FF profile folder, don't pause the download (never have done this) etc.
Others have opined that the problem is flaky intermittent WiFi, or Security/Anti Virus software interfering with FF's accessibility to the file during the download; or a caching problem at one's ISP -- HOWEVER Safari doesn't experience this problem at all. Each time that I've experienced it in FF, I launch Safari, and can download the file completely without any errors.
Would really like to see someone from Mozilla respond to this ... lots of us are experiencing it.
Whatever happened to Netscape's ability to recover from download interruptions and resume a download at the point where it had been interrupted (like when a dial up modem dropped the line in the middle of the download) -- sure would be useful to see that feature come back in FF.

Firefox could not be updated because: No data was received (please try again)" It also gave a link to download manually. When I tried from the Firefox website I got: /Users/(deleted for privacy)/Desktop/Firefox 3.6.3(2).dmg.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.

Here's the meaning of the error that you received.
"An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC06-0002" -- may be caused by damaged recovery media or faulty hard drive"
Possible that the problem is on the recovery also.

Thanks Gail but ive tried that as well as logging oht and back into my accounts on my iphone and mac but I still get that message. I actually found a solution by unckecking my synced music playlist and clicking sync to remove it and then reclicked on my playlist to sync and it actually synced notmally and I got all of my new songs so I wanted to test it again so I clicked on sync again and the message once again popped up until I did the un-syncing and re-syncing again. I guess I will keep doing that in the future even though its annoying but its better than resetting my iphone.

It is possible that anti-virus software is corrupting downloaded files or is interfering otherwise.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

Almost every time I download a file, the download gets to the end and then I get this error "<filename> could not be saved, because the source file could not be read", and then the download fails.
I checked my addons and they are not the problem. This doesn't happen when I try another Firefox profile. I tried several solutions offered in "http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_save_or_download_files" but they didn't help. It's not my antivirus.
I hate to start another profile because I have my current one just the way I like it.

You can check the file attributes of all the files in the Firefox Profile Folder to make sure that you have write permission.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
