"Cannot place this..QT .mov
When I try to place a .mov (Apple QT) in In Design, I get the error:
"Cannot place this file. No filter found for requested operation"
I am using In Design version 3.01.838 (newest available update)
The Apple QT player is version 7.
The QT clip was made using Camtasia 4.02, the codecs were "MPEG-4" video and "Aplle Lossless" set to 44100-stereo
I am able to place .avi videos, and other graphics, but not QT videos. All the videos are short clips.
Any suggestions?

I have vague memories of seeing this discussed in the past, probably on the Mac side, and I think the issue was which version of QuickTime was Installed, but I wouldn't swear to it, or even that a solution was offered. Searching the ID forums on both sides for QuickTime might pull something up.

Using PM 6.5 in Classic mode on Mac (OS 10.4.11). I have an existing pagemaker document that contains an EPS file that I need to change. When I try to update link to new EPS file or place it, I get the "cannot place this file" message. I am creating EPS in Illustrator 6.0 (also in Classic mode.) I have tried to place EPS file in a new Pagemaker document and get the same message. This used to work. I would really appreciate any help.
I seem to recall that PageMaker wasn't a good friend of EPS files, but I could be wrong after so many years not using it. I would try with TIFFs, just in case.

Saw earlier postings on this but not quite the same situation and/or the solutions didn't work. Using InDesign CS 6. Trying to place many JPEG files. First one placed. After that, stopped working. Trying closing out of InDesign and restarting. Checked show options. Couldn't import into Illustrator. Tried copy and paste. Please help! Deadline approaching.
Thank you!No, they don't open in Photoshop - but I did try renaming the file name - not the extension but the filename itself as it was very long, including location, date and number. Although cumbersome for the number of files I have, this seemed to do the trick. Thank you!!!

Cannot place a two-channel spot color image in ID CS2
I have a psd file that consists of two pantone spot channels. When I try to place it in indesign, it says
"Cannot place this file. No filter found for requested operation."
Why is this, is there any help? I have to find a way around it, I need to make a publication using only black and a shade of pantone green.
I'm on Indesign CS2, Photoshop is CS4 and I'm on Mac OSX.PSD. I don't have much other choice in photoshop, it offers only psd formats once the file is in multichannel mode. Maybe I'm doing something wrong in photoshop?
Basically I have a photo which is originally in 4 channel CMYK. But I need to convert it two tones only, black and pantone 363 M (or some similar green). What I did was that I deleted the C and M channel and turned Y into pantone. By doing so the image automatically switched from CMYK to Multichannel mode and wouldn't let me choose any other. I don't know if that's the right way to do it? -
Cannot place chapters in my Imovie HD 6 movie

I cannot place chapter markers in the time line, I keep getting this message
"The chapter could not be added, because there is already a chapter near this location.
Chapters must be at least one second apart. Please move the playhead to a new location, and try again".
I've tried dropping them 1 and 2 and 6 seconds apart. and other intervals. seconds still the same message

While installing XQuatrz-2.7.7, the installation blocks at the "destination" level. It asks how to install this soft, "Install for all users" is shadowed, but frozen: i cannot select anything and move on. Any idea how to get that fixed?

Since upgrading to OSx 10.9, I cannot place my music for iPhoto slideshows. The only music that works is the Sample and Theme music that comes with iPhoto. Any idea of what to do about this problem?
In iTunes go File -> Library -> Organise Library -> Reorganise Library.
Then quit and restart iPhoto.

ThanksThe only way to use Forms Central would be to export it the method that gives you the embed code (can't remember what the actual term is off hand) and then use Object--->Insert HTML and past your code in.

Suddenly cannot place image or resize file without losing resolution quality. Is this a bug?
I have CS3 and have been using Photoshop for several years. Today I randomly encountered a problem I have never had before.
I created a new file, 468 x 60 pixels with a resolution of 200. I then placed a file of a 4.95MB photo in this file. The size of the photo is quite large (resolution also 200) and I should have had to resize it way down to fit in small 468 x 60 space I had.
Instead, it placed the photo as a much smaller image, almost like a thumbnail of the original. When I went to resize the photo to make it larger, the resolution was terrible.
So then I went to the original file of the photo, copied it, went back to the 468 x 60 file and pasted it. It pasted it as the true size, but when I decreased the size, the resolution went bad. How does that even make sense?
So then I went back to the original file of the photo again and resized it down from there. The resolution went downhill again!
I have tried this with multiple other photos and file sizes and dimensions. I cannot place any large photo file and keep its accurate dimensions/resolutions. I also cannot resize any photo down without losing pixel quality.
The only thing weird that showed up right at the beginning of this whole process was that the pixel aspect ratio window kept popping up even before I'd open a file (it has been set to square).
I have reset all PS preferences through ctrl-alt-shift. I have gone through the Adobe update process. I have done disk clean-up and cleared off nearly 10GB of room on my hard drive. I have restarted over and over. I have also tried this process in Illustrator and had no problems.
Is this a bug? A memory problem? Never have I run into this issue before and I feel like I'm going crazy!You could make the top layer active and then Cmd-Shift-Option-E
(stamp visible).
Do the trim and crop and then delete the top layer afterwords.

I cannot play my rented movie because itunes cannot locate where the original file, has anyone face this problem before? Where can I find the location of the downloaded movie?
What did you use to download it with? iPad? iPhone? Computer?
If it's an iPad/iPhone, play it using the videos app.
If on the computer, look on the left side of iTunes in the library under movies. -

How do i place photos/dvd/movies in itunes
even though i dont have the compatible ipod,i wish to place photos, dvd movies into my itunes. how do do it though,unlike with mp3 files , i cannot just right click and open with itunes-it wont work! should i update? im on itunes 6

They must be in mp4 format. With quicktime pro, you can convert videos to the file type that itunes will recognize and that will play on the video ipod...

The icon is blue with a white firefox logo on it. My only options are to "Burn 'Firefox'" or "Eject 'Firefox'" when I click on it to edit it, but I cannot cut, paste, or move to trash. It won't let me. When I click on "Eject 'firefox'" it says "The disc firefox is in use and could not be ejected". Even when I am running no applications whatsoever.
When I click on this icon, a small window appears with two icons in it: one the firefox browser icon, and the other the applications folder icon with an arrow inbetween the two. When I drag the icon into the application folder it tells me:
"An item named 'firefox' already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it with the one you're moving?"
And no matter how many times I "replace it" the icon never goes away.
And no matter how many times I replace it, whenever I click on the firefox icon in applications, it brings up this tiny window on my desktop before it will actually start running the firefox web-browser. And it will never reload my previously saved tabs is also my main concern.

== a few weeks ago since I installed...Maybe you copied the icon show in the window to your application and into your dock directly. Try closing your Firefox again. Eject the disc again. Then go to your application folder. You should see Firefox with a circle and cross through it. Open it. It should open without the blue icon appearing on your desktop again.

I cannot find videos (not movies) that i have transferred to my macbook pro from an external hard drive, these files used to be on my windows PC. Photos and a few of the videos came over but i am missing the majority of the videos. Help please!!! I have tried omnidisksweeper with no success in finding them.
in my Usage it says i have over 40 gb of movies when i only have about 9gb which i can see using spotlight search. i really hope the other amount is my missing videos! these are videos of my kids as babies.Read this post and do the migration again, putting the library in a portable shape first if necessary.

I had this happen back in December/January. I sold my MBP that I used to subscribe to iTunes Match back in December. In January, I bought a used MB and tried to use iTunes Match on it. I was told I had to wait nearly two months to use it on the new computer. I waited and was finally able to use it in the new computer.\
Sadly, this has more to do with the content providers (Record lables / movie studios) than it has to do with Apple impsoing the restrictions.
