Cannot play a rent movie

For the christmas eve, I just rented a movie. but it doesn't work.
i had bought few movies and it worked very well but this one is not.
It just stuck in the black screen and that's it
well.. im a korean who lives in korea and my English is not perfect.
if it's not working and if i cannot watch this, i want my money back.

I have been in touch with Apple twice regarding this same error message. I was told that this is a known issue, that Apple is getting many phone calls about this, and that they are working on it. I was also told that until there is a fix, the only option is to download the purchases onto a computer and then access the video with the Apple TV. I just hit the "Report A Problem" link on my rental invoice and explained this, hoping for a reimbursement for the rentals I was unable to watch.
It's been a week+ since I was told about this known issue, so please call and/or leave feedback (http://www.apple.com/feedback/appletv.html) about this if you haven't already.

What did you use to download it with? iPad? iPhone? Computer?
If it's an iPad/iPhone, play it using the videos app.
If on the computer, look on the left side of iTunes in the library under movies.

  • ITunes cannot play my rented movie. The timeline stops and no error message pop up.

I rented two movies from iTunes store yesterday. It's still valid. But my iTunes cannot play it. After I click on the 'play' button, the timeline does no move forward and the screen remains in black. No error message pops up. What's wrong with this iTunes player??

It's always the case because iCloud is active all the time and if the device indicated Backup to iCloud an your computer indicated Backup to Computer, you may run into problem.
But this can never be a problem. When you select "Back up to computer" and press apply, iTunes "updates files" on the iphone. I'm not an engineer and my best guess is that by updating the files iTunes changes the device's settings to point to "Backup to Computer".
[Earlier: The sync button used to be visible only after the files were updated. Now, when "Back up to Computer" is selected and we press apply, iTunes indicates that its updating files but the option then shifts back to "Back up to iCloud"]
Incidentally, I was playing around with this and I clicked on encrypt local back and set a password and iTunes accepted that and updated the backup on my computer. This is pretty wierd considering its not accepting "Backup to computer" otherwise.

I wonder how you were able to do that without turning off iCloud Backup on your device.
I guess the older versions of itunes supported that. This problem cropped up after updating to 10.6.0.4

iTunes 'open when this iPhone is connected' works only when you connect using USB cable.
With Sync over wifi enabled iTunes used to open automatically for me whenever my iPhone logged onto the wifi network. Which was a very useful feature for me. I'm extremely disappointed that this is not working now.

  • I played a rented movie in my newly bought ATV, but when i wanted to watch a TV Series i got the "Authorization is Required" !! although i have successfully played a rented movie at first !! and when checking into iTunes i couldnt find the ATV??

I played a rented movie in my newly bought ATV, but when i wanted to watch a TV Series i got the "Authorization is Required" !! although i have successfully played a rented movie at first !! and when checking into iTunes i couldnt find the ATV??

The ATV2 or ATV3 (small black boxes) don't show up as devices in iTunes. If iTunes and the ATV's have Home sharing turned on for the same account - and are on the same network, the ATV should show up as an AirPlay target device in iTunes.
The rented movie - was this rented on the ATV or in iTunes?
The TV series - where are you trying to play this from? Is it in iTunes or via the 'TV Shows' menu in ATV... i.e streaming from iCloud?

  • HT1657 can I play a rented movie on an Apple TV 2nd gen while downloading?

Can I play a rented movie from itunes on an Apple TV 2 while the movie is still downloading? I can watch it on the Mac that it is downloading on but the air play symbol does not appear to be apple to select the ATV. Does the movie have to completely download first?

'Make sure your iTunes is up to date 10.5 at the top where the tabs are turn on "Home Sharing" by enabling it on your MACBookPro under the advanced tab using your Apple ID and PW  then turn on your AppleTV and on the far right side click on "Computers" repeat turning on "Home Sharing" on there then start your movie and click on the AirPlay Icon then select send to AppleTV! There are a few other more ways to do the same thing but thats the easiest let me Know if you need more info .

Can you please help me witht this.  I cannot download my rented movie. There is an error.

    There is an error.
What does the error message say? (Include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • HT1657 When I try to play my rented movie I get an error 42110. Whats that mean?

When I try to play my rented movie I get an error 42110. Whats that mean?

Is this in iTunes, on an iPod/iPhone/iPad or AppleTV?
Not sure what the error number is.
If it's a portable device try restrating it by power cycling, if a computer reboot it and restrat iTunes - this may or may not work but cure an authorisation problem I had in itunes the other day.
    Good luck.

Welcome to the Apple Community Jebson.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
        1.    Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
        2.    Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
        3.    Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
        4.    Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
        5.    Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)

  • HT1657 I try to play my rented movie but I get a message saying the movie requires Quick Time which is not supported?

I try to play my rented movie but I get a message sayin the movie requires Quick Time (which I have) which is not supported by this version of itunes.  What Am I doing wrong?

Thank you, I think we are close  but this hasn't worked since the instructions per the document call for a selection of File>get into, which does not come up as a "bold" choice and is therefore not accessible, at least on my computer.  It sounds like we are on the right track but I am not able to follow the instructions since the choices, as outlined in the article, are not chosable on my menu.  Not sure what the problem is?

  • I can not download and play HD rented movies through my TV2

    My Problem:
I can not download and play HD rented movies through my TV2
and get the following message   "an error occurred loading this content. Try again later"
Do others have the same problem of not being able to play rented HD?
All my other activities are normal. I can play Standard Def rentals, Movie Previews, HD MLB, and all else as necessary except HD rentals
    I have a 13.5 Mbps connection.
I have gone through ALL of the expected procedures. Changed the cable, did a reset, did a restore.
This has happened with two TV2's as I replaced the first one due to the "unable to update issues"
The current TV2 now has the current up to date software since that issue has been resolved for all.
    Any answers???
    Location Melbourne Australia.

This is a new TV2. Actually my second. First bought less than 2 weeks ago. it was returned to the store and replaced because of the issue of not being able to update the TV2 software from 4.1.1 to 4.2.2.
Both machines had that same problem, and both could not play the rented HD movies.
The second TV2 has sicne been able to update to 4.2.2 when everyone else who had that problem went away this last weekend. So I have gone from 4.1.1 on two machines and no HD rentals to the current one updated to 4.2.2 and still no HD rentals.
The Standard def comes in fine and no real delay. And IF the movie previews are HD (when it is turned on in settings) then I have had NO problems viewing them.
I also have NO problem viewing HD MLB games on the TV2

  • I am unable to play a rented movie's on my ATV 2. I get: An error occurred loading this content. Try again later.

I am unable to play a rented movie on my ATV 2. I get: An error occurred loading this content. Try again later. My ISP has the TCP 80 port blocked but the TCP 443 port open. My first gen. Apple TV  is OK.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
I doubt port 80 is blocked, that port is used for http, which you might recognise as the basis for the world wide web.
The message you get can be as a result of an extremely slow Internet connection, you can test your connection speed using speednet.com, however more commonly it's a simple error that can be corrected by unplugging and restarting the Apple TV and/or restarting the router.

  • Itunes won't play a rented movie

    Hello,
I have a Dell Mini laptop with 8GB disk space and a 16GB SD Flash Drive upon which I have installed and run Itunes Ver 8.0.2.20 with QuickTime Ver 7.5.5.
The Problem: I am unable to play a fully downloaded, rented, movie.
I am able to play movies I purchase and download and TV Shows that I purchase and download, but when I attempt to play a RENTED movie, Itunes will start, I am presented with the RENTED MOVIES SCREEN, i see the time remaining on my RENTED MOVIE, but when I double click on it to play or single click then click the play arrow, Itunes will play the first 1/2 second then lock up. I am forced to shutdown through Task Manager. At that point, upon restarting Itunes, none of the movies/shows will play (regardless of rental VS. purchase). I have to unistall and reinstall Itunes, wait a minimum of 24hrs for the rented movie to expire, then uninstall/reinstall again.
    I've done this 3 times.
Admittedly, the Mini is an underpowered machine, however, it DOES play PURCHASED video just fine. Any tips or advice would be GREATLY appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!

I have the exact same problem. Rented two movies, they downloaded in 25 minutes each. Went to play them over the weekend and my computer locked up, while the 24 hour clock was ticking. Had to go to task menu to end the program. Starting over yielded the same problem. The time ran out and movie was deleted but the charge was taken from my account. For the second movie I tried running it while I was logged onto iTunes. The same thing happened, only this time I had to eject from the program without being able to log off iTunes. VERY frustrating. Searched the iTunes help FAQs, blogs and forums and haven't found anything but your two postings. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this? And get our movies, or money, back? p.s. The purchased movies play just fine. NOT the rented ones.
