Cannot play CD in itunes

When I try to play a CD in itunes, it will not play and just skips from track to track pausing for about 1 second between tracks. I have imported the CD's to my ipod and the same thing happens on my ipod. I have the same problem on several CD's, none work correctly. Windows XP. Help!!!

It seems certain that the problem lies with your CD player. It is well-known that many older CD players will not read CD-R discs. If you look at this two-year old discussion you'll see what the issues are for someone who had a similar experience to yourself.
This discussion also suggests that you might get better results from using a higher-grade burning programme, such as Toast -- but nothing's certain.

Do you mean you cannot get a playlist to play in iPhoto's slideshow? Or in iTunes itself?
Your question was posted in the iPhoto discussions, and if it is an iTunes issue, you may get better responses by posting in that discussion forum.

Cannot play songs in iTunes

I have songs on my iPhone. I hook it up to my work computer and open iTunes. All the songs are grayed out and I cannot play them, even though my work computer is one of my authorized computers. I use my home computer to sync things up. Why can I not simply play music on my phone through iTunes no matter what computer I'm on??

hard drives will always crash, and you should ALWAYS keep a backup. it's surprising how many people still don't know this little fact about computers, and then they do nothing by cry when all of their data is gone.
let this be a lesson from here on out - ALWAYS KEEP A BACKUP OF YOUR DATA. the easiest way is to use an external hard drive.
there are apps that will allow you to get your music off of the iPhone, but they are not supported by apple.
and just because you think it's stupid does not mean it is done to annoy you. it was most likely done as an agreement with the music industry, but since no one here officially works at apple, we don't know the actual reasons.

Cannot play songs on Itunes from mini

My Itunes recognizes my ipod mini, but all the songs are inaccessible - they are all in light gray and I cannot play any of them or change any of my playlists on my ipod.
yet, in my music library there all there. and accessible what's going on? I've tried restoring my ipod but it didn't work.

That is because you have the iPod set to Automatically Update songs. If you set the iPod to Manually Update, the songs will not be grayed out, and you will be able to move them around, etc.

Yes! Immediately after upgrading our iPhones and iPads to iOS6, they lost the capability to play back CCTV camera streams both on network and 3/4G. Our customers are experiening this issue as well.
I held back from upgrading one of my iPads and all is normal with it.
I am a Savant AV dealer and this is quite troubling especially since the issue has very little buzz.
Has anyone heard from Apple regarding a fix?

Cannot play music through Itunes on work computer

This has worked in the past but for some reason today it isn't working. I have Itunes on my home PC and that is what I sync my Ipod to. I also have it at work just so I can listen to my music through my laptop. When I hook it up to my laptop it flashes the Do not disconnect message forever, doesnt go away. I can eject the Ipod and listen to it fine through the Ipod but I cannot get it to play songs on the laptop. They all show up but are greyed out and I cannot click on them to play. The Ipod shows up in Itunes, says nothing about Updating Ipod like it normally does when it is updating. Any idea how to fix this?

Yep! At the bottom of the iTunes window there's a button with an iPod icon on it. Press it and it'll being you to the iPod preferences window. Select the manual update option and select ok (to the pop-up window and to exit the preferences window). The songs won't be greyed out anymore, just remember to set it back to automatic update when you go home. Hope that helps.

I had to reinstall Windows on my computer, after that was done I redownloaded iTunes and then connected my iPod. The songs show up on iTunes and I can edit them etc, but if I try to play them it states files cannot be located. How do I get the files back on my computer?

I updated my itunes two months ago and since then, I have played my songs in itunes. The bar is not moving at all. The videos are playing but without sounds. I tried playing the songs in Windows media player and it does not play either. But the songs play in the real player. What should I do? Even the songs I bought recently from itunes are not playing.. Cannot play songs within iTunes

When I double-click a song (in the iTunes library), the sound icon appears, album cover (if applicable) appears, and song title and info appear in the tan box at the top of the screen. However, music does not play, and the marker does not move.

The volume is turned up and I am using speakers. Headphones (pulgged into the computer) do not work, either. However, the songs play on the iPod. What can I do to listen to them on the computer? It has worked before!!!

I had no problem within iTunes, but could not play or import CDs. The only solution I've found is to reinstall an older version...read the thread at:

Hi, I looked through all your infos and posts, and none of the recommendations solved my problem. When I click a song, the little phono symbol is activated, but it does not play the song. The same is true if I click a song and then hit the play button on the top - no music is played. What is wrong here?

This is what exactly happens: I open iTunes, go into my Playlist and click on a song once to highlight it. Then I hit the play button on the top and the play symbol becomes a pause symbol. Nothing happens though. Only when I double click (not on teh play button, but directly on the song), does the song start to hypothetically play and the two sound bars appear - but still no sound and the song does not start to play at the top either (with the time indication)...

Cannot play mp4s in iTunes, Works in QT 10

I am able to play them in QT v.10.2 (603) with both video and audio. I am also able to add them to my iTunes library, however when I try to play them I can only see the opening frame. The pause button is showing and the elapsed time is staying still at 0:00. When I try to scroll through the video, it displays all the frames but does not play.
I have tried adding the appropriate metadata to the mp4 files via IDentity 2 (a download from the App Store) to no avail.

Since iTunes uses QuickTIme to play videos, I'm not sure why it works in QuickTime Player, but not in iTunes.
Because it does open and play in QuickTime Player X (10.x), you can try the following... Open the video in QuickTime Player. Under the File (from menu bar), select Export. In the Save dialog, select the highest "p" setting for Format (or the resolution desired), such as 480p, pick a place to save the converted video file, and click Export. This should create a version of the video that will definitely play in iTunes.

Cannot play songs in iTunes and others

Back story: somehow deleted my entire storage drive (I have 2 drives on my system). Luckily I downloaded everything to my external drive the day before. After getting everything back over to my storage drive and adding the folder to iTunes, I get the exclamation point. So I locate the song and iTunes will not play it at all. This is random, sometimes 1 song will locate just fine, and the next song not at all. Not all songs on an album are affected. Deleting the exclamation song does no good, because the drag and drop feature does not work. I even tried adding the file through the edit menu, no go.
Am I missing something?
Also, iTunes is adding folders to my storage drive, even though the song is already in a different folder (I like them by album name, esp ones that are compilations/soundtracks). So iTunes is adding the folders with the performers name.
And, even though I only have 1 copy of the song in my music folder, iTunes is showing up to 4 copies. What is all that about?
Anyone have solutions?
Am running Windows 7 and iTunes 12.

Cannot play songs in iTunes Match

Some of the songs in my iTunes Match Library show up on my computer (MacBook Pro running latest OS) as greyed out and they do not play - although they are already in my library and they play on my other devices (so I know they're good). I can see info (but not lyrics or artwork). I did notice that these seem to have no sampling rate (compared to the songs that function normally).

Cannot play videos with itunes 7 on my mac

I recently downloaded itunes 7 and now I can't play any of my video podcasts on itunes, I double click them and nothing happens, also I'm having trouble downloading many podcasts, which itunes says are corrupted or unreadable, what the **** is up with this new itunes?

Just a small update. I even tried rebuilding my music library XML and data files by deleting them and then importing my iTunes folder back in to iTunes. No luck.
Also found more purchased content that won't work (Blade: The Series - purchased on Friday of last week - has the same blank screen issue, no overlay controls or anything, just my cursor, which is the same as Geri's game - noted incorrectly in first post that overlay controls were available), yet The Incredibles works just fine.
Again, any insights I may be missing would be MUCH appreciated.
