Cannot play Flash on sites
I have a new Toshiba PC laptop using Vista. Though I have
Flash installed I have problems playing it. The message given is:
"You do not have the correct version of the flash player.
Download the correct version"
When I follow the instructions, I end up with exactly the
same problem. I have followed the instructions given on the Adobe
self help section in that I have uninstalled, cleared all old files
and re-installed after rebooting but to no avail. I have also gone
into the Windows/System32 section and run it from there - still
nothing. I have checked my Firewall and Anti-virus (and even tried
with them switched off) but still nothing.
In the www.bbc.co.uk website it will not play videos (the
message given above shows). In the www.landrover.co.uk site I can
do nothing at all after the first page as it asks me to install
Shock player (again with the same result). On www.youtube.com I can
get the videos to play but cannot enlarge to full screen.
I have written to a number of forums but have only had the
official answer given on the Adobe site and since I have tried all
of that I am now at a complete loss.
Can anyone help?
What version of Flash do you have, and what browser are you
usin?
Because both sites you mention work perfect for me (player 10
rc, IE7 & FF3) I am going to guess that you are using Internet
Explorer.
There is a problem that sometimes happens with the OCX
required to run the ActiveX version of the flash player. This
usually has the habit of not allowing people to properly upgrade
their player, or stops flash sites from working correctly. In Win
XP I typically go to C:/Windows/Download Program Files and delete
the entire folder to fix this issue. This folder holds all of the
OCX files that IE uses to run the various plug-ins you have
installed. By deleting the folder, you remove any corrupt files
that are in there, and IE will re-download the controls the next
time you open the browser, effectively fixing the issue.
This issue has become extremely prevalent with player 9, and
Adobe increasing the web install method to install the
player.

Cannot play Flash video in Chrome 64bit
I cannot play Flash videos in Facebook when I upgraded my Google Chrome on Windows 8.1 to the latest 64bit v.37 and Flash player to v.15 . The error message was "Can't load plug-in". I enabled Flash players in the plugin section, reinstall Chrome. Nothing worked until I "downgraded" my Google Chrome to 32bit. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
Rebooted Windows and it is working. Note to self : It is good to reboot the system after a few weeks.

Cannot play Flash content in IE7
When I navigate IE7 to any site (including adobe.com) that
has Flash content, I get a message saying I need to enable
javascript (it is) and/or upgrade my Flash player. I am running
Vista, and this worked until sometime in the last week or so.
Flash content does run on this machine inside Firefox 3.0.1,
but IE7 appears to be dead.
The error message I get is "Error in loading DLL". It appears
to pop up when the javascript code is trying to load or access the
flash content.
I tried installing the Flash Player 9.0.124 using the web
site - no luck.
I tried uninstalling (clean), rebooting, then installing from
the web site - no luck.
I tried uninstalling (clean), rebooting, then used the manual
installer (Install Flash Player 9 AX) - no luck.
I tried uninstalling (clean), rebooting, then used the manual
installer (FlashUtil9f) - no luck.
I tried running reset_minimal.cmd (per instructions) - no
luck.
I tried disabling my AV (Kaspersky) while repeating all of
the above - no luck.
I tried running sfc /scannow but it reports no errors.
I tried the Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset to "reset"
IE to its defaults - no luck.

BWolfe, I'm truly amazed that dougclutter and others have had
this very specific and real problem for so long, and Adobe hasn't
lifted a finger to cure it. I'm stunned. I've been plagued with
this thing for at least 3 months now, and have been all over the
net looking for a remedy, after finding absolutely no help from
Adobe.
Here's what my symptoms are:
IE with Flash works in all accounts but mine.
Latest Adobe Flash player (10) is properly installed. Flash
content will play on IE8 in anyone's User Account on this machine
but mine. The only way flash content will play in my user account
is if it is started as "Run As Administrator". Can actually run 2
instances of IE side by side, one started normally, the other
started as "Run as Administrator". Oprah, U Tube, etc., will run
flash content in the latter window, but won't in the former. Flash
errors (in IE7} are something to the effect, "Can't run DLL", with
line number reference, etc. No help from Adobe, HP (my machine
manufacturer) or Microsoft without paying them a bundle. Just
updated IE7 to 8, problem unchanged.
Elaboratiing:
When right clicking on where Flash Player is supposed to be,
then clicking the "about Adobe Flash... ", the browser is sent to:
http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/
When clicking on the error message at the bottom of the
browser, the following error message is displayed. (This was
copied, which Vista gives you the opportunity to do, then pasted
here.)

BWolfe, instead of telling us about proper Adobe procedures
for reporting and troubleshooting these things, how about you
forward this to someone who can tell us how to fix this thing! I,
like dougclutter and others, have been thru the entire Adobe Flash
Player troubleshooting guide, carried out every suggestion there
exactly, to no avail. I can show you at least 3 other instances of
different folks with this same problem. And, as I think I've seen
elsewhere in this thread, and tried myself, Adobe certainly doesn't
make it easy to report non-paying customer problems, as with Flash
Player.
It's high time Adobe gets with at least one of us to help
diagnose and cure this problem, and then adds the info to their
troubleshooting guide, or else fix it in the application if
possible. Whether the problem is in the app, or do to interaction
with Vista and possibly XP, you guys need to look into this thing.
I, for one, would be more than happy to help you 'shoot this thing,
I am and engineer and have been computing since the DOS days.

How come my mac cannot play video from sites other than youtube
The space the video occupies on the webpage remains black all the way
Did you do any of the following?
Download from Adobe Flash Player
Check Flash Version
Adobe strongly recommends that you first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller:
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html#main_1 0_4
Follow the instructions closely, such as quitting ALL applications first before installing. Repair permissions and restart your computer after the installation is completed.

Edited by: Santhosh kamarapu on Nov 12, 2008 11:06 AMHi!
You can use Firefox 2.0 or 3.0. It will sold your problem.
If you want use IE7, you need change something.
You have to make changes to the Player.html files for each session
1. Open the player.html file in notepad
2. Add the following line right below the line that begins "var IE6 = ((...":
+var IE7 = ((document.all)&&(navigator.appVersion.indexOf("MSIE 7.")!=-1)) ? true : false;+
This will set the player.html page to check for IE7.
3. Select Edit>Find in notepad and search for 'IE6' without the quotes
4. You should find a couple of lines of code that have the term IE6 in them. They will look something like this:
if (IE5||IE6||FF1) {
or
if(IE5 || IE6 || FF1){
5. Add '|| IE7' to these lines, so they should look something like this:
if (IE5||IE6||IE7||FF1) {
or
if(IE5 || IE6 || IE7 ||FF1){
6. Save the file

Asif KhanYou can check for problems caused by recent Flash updates and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Troubleshooting
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Safari cannot play certain flash videos
After the latest update safari cannot play some flash videos, it can be a youtube video as well...
There's a hungarian site that has videos and my safari cannot play any of them. The site is www.indavideo.hu . On a MacBook Air the Outlook cannot open new mail and a Microsoft community site said that it is a problem caused by safari... What?
I've tried to delete flash, reinstall it, delete Java, reinstall it, but Java works fine.
I think I should reinstall Safari, but I don't want to reinstall the whole computer...
Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks,
CsabaFor Flash issues, try this ...
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Back to Safari. Press Command + Option + E to empty the Safari cache.
Quit and relaunch Safari, try a video.
If that doesn't help, you may have the YouTube HTML5 beta enabled.
Opt out here > YouTube
Keep in mind, Outlook is a Microsoft product, not Apple and therefore, you may experience problems. However, you may be able to setup your Outlook account in the Mac Mail app.
Open Mac Mail. From the menu bar click File > Add Account
That way you won't have to use Safari (web based email) to access your Outlook acocunt.

Adobe Reader cannot play embedded Flash content
I don't know why, the Flash format was originally created by Macromedia, and then Adobe acquired the company, but the Adobe Reader cannot display Flash content.
My PDF file is here:
http://genifer.googlecode.com/files/agi-book.pdf
Scroll to page 37.
The original SWF file is here:
http://genifer.googlecode.com/files/unified-AND-OR.swf
which *can* be played on my Chrome browser.
But when I embedded the SWF file in the PDF, the result is unplayable.
A clue is: Adobe Reader asked me to download QuickTime to display media contents. So I downloaded QuickTime. But QuickTime nowadays has removed Flash support. Why did Adobe Reader ask me to download QuickTime to display Flash, when Adobe owns the Flash format?
I have also tried selecting other media players in the Reader's option box (eg, Windows Media, Windows built-in, Adobe Flash, etc) but none of them works.
I have also tried using Adobe Acrobat Professional 9. Same result.
It seems to be a problem with Adobe Reader. Any suggestions?
Thanks!Adobe Reader most certainly CAN play embedded Flash content, but only if you embed it properly.
You're seeing a Quicktime warning because you're embedding the SWF as "legacy media" content - this is no longer supported for authoring and is disabled by default for playback. You should use Rich Media Annotations instead (embedding using the multimedia/flash tool in Acrobat 9 or Acrobat X).
