Cannot Play Interactive DVD on MacBook

Am completely new to MAC, so please forgive me if this is a completely stupid question:
For some reason I cannot get my MacBook to play an interactive tutorial DVD. It plays all other DVD's I own without any problems, but for this one it gives "+supported disk not found+" message. I am sure nothing is wrong with the DVD, as it plays normally on my PC and my TV's DVD player. Spent the whole day trying to figure out what's wrong but still cannot.
Should I just download RealOne Player for MAC and try to play it there? Or is there any kind of codec I need to install?
Please help, as this is driving me nuts and I really need to be able to play this DVD on my MAC in front of my staff tomorrow!

Apple Support told me that most likely that DVD was formatted specifically for Windows, therefore it would not be played on MAC.

Me either, since I installed a new operating system on my mac book pro - I followed a suggestion of deleting all Flash Player files through system preferences, closing Safari while I install a new version of Flash, but I got an error message saying 'unable to complete installation' - problem remains. Any help, peeps?

This is supposed to happen, licensing issue mean that Apple can't AirPlay protected content to other devices. You might try VLC instead of Apples built in DVD player.

  • Playing mini dvds on Macbook

I have a sony dvd camcorder which records onto mini dvds and I wish to find a way to play them in my 13" macbook. Can I just buy an external tray loading dvd drive? Will this work ok with the format that the camcorder records in? I have tried to contact Sony about this and they reckon it's not possible!

Can I just buy an external tray loading dvd drive?
    Yes.
Will this work ok with the format that the camcorder records in?
Depends. I've heard reports of people not being able to play Sony recorded discs in anything but Sony DVD players because they use their own formats. If you can find somebody with a different brand DVD player, you can test it. You may need to import the video to the computer, hopefully through FireWire, otherwise through USB.

PLEASE HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP!

    Hi:
You probably authored a HD DVD and those just play in your MAc, not in standard DVD players. Check your disc properties in DVDSP:
    and/or here
You must select SD DVD to play in standard players.
    Hope that helps !

  • I Cannot Mount DL-DVD on MacBook Pro Anymore!

I recently updated to the latest firmware update (macbook pro software update 1.1) a few days ago for my MacBook Pro. Since this, my computer will not mount nearly all of my DL-DVD discs that I previously burnt (on the same computer). I did the SMC reset many times. Still will not recognize the discs.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Or at least a reason why this is suddenly happening?

    BUMP!
I can burn and verify on Verbatim-DL disks, but once they are burnt it will not mount them on my macbook pro.
The discs read fine on my Imac 20" (older)
    Im on Leopard 10.5.1

  • Cannot play HDCP on internal MacBook Air (Mid 2012) after water damage - the only fault with MBA after the spill?

    Hi everyone-
So this Sunday afternoon I went to download some TV shows on my MacBook Air - having recently spilt some water across my Mac. Have left it for a couple of weeks, and seems the only issue is that the MacBook Air now no longer recognises the batteries so has to be run from AC power.
Everything else on the Mac works fine - though, when I went to play these TV shows I downloaded (720p), it brings up the HDCP error saying that:
"The selected movie won't play on your display.
This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection)."
I've googled and searched everywhere but can find no workaround- nor any troubleshooting to help me out with this.
Can anybody advise, beyond stating the obvious that the water has obviously messed something up.
    Thanks!

Sorry for taking so long, I had to go Christmas shopping with the family.  Anyway, I tried that, and no gas there, either. I've done a memtest and changed the hibernatemode to 0 using pmset since this post.  So... yeah.  I'm hitting a wall and am willing to bet it's the SSD going out the door.

  • Cannot play DVD movies in Windows XP

Does anyone know of any driver that I have to download in order to play just regular old DVD movies with Boot Camp? The CD-ROM aspect of the drive works fine, as I play games all the time...but when I try to play a movie it says that it cannot....has anyone found a fix to this?

Lol well unfortunately it didn't, I installed it, popped a movie in, and this is the messege that i got:
Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card.
It was just a regular DVD movie bought from the store, not a burnt one or anything...I'm confused...

  • Does the MacBook Pro play HD DVD?

Somewhere along the line, I was told by an Apple associate that the MBP could play HD DVD, but I suspect he just didn't listen to the question since I haven't heard/seen any evidence to support this. Anyway, I'm now considering purchasing HD DVDs exclusively and I use my MBP on the new TV I bought as a 2nd monitor. So I suppose in short, Is the MBP able to play HD DVD in the Apple shipped Superdrive? Thanks

The MBP can only play normal DVDs, it cannot play HD-DVDs, your Apple associate was probably high when he said that. Also, HD-DVD has been announced as the loser of the format wars to blu-ray.

  • U330 ATI cannot play DVD

For some reason, I cannot play a DVD in Window Media Player while using the ATI graphics.  I get an error that says something like, "WMP cannot play DVD because the codec, graphics driver, digital copy protection, etc. are not compatible. You can try to update your graphics driver... blah blah blah"  I updated to the latest ATI driver from their website, but I still get the same error.
I tried downloading another player, but that didn't work either.  Any suggestions?

You either have to install a DVD codec or you can use VLC player.

My laptop is T420 (i7-2640M CPU 2.80GHz, RAM 4GB, 64 bit), and recently upgrade to Windows 8.1 Professional OS

  • HP Pavilion dm4 - Windows 7, 64-bit. Error message: Windows Media Player won't play my DVD

Here is the actual error message. The video card has an updated driver. I can't figure out how to resolve this -
Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card.

    Hi,
First of all, if you've recently installed any virtual drive software ( an exmple of this is Daemon Tools ), temporarily uninstall it, restart the notebook and see if this has corrected the error.
If the above doesn't apply, try downloading and installing the free KLite codec pack on the following link.
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_klite_codec_pack/
When the installation has completed, restart the notebook and check again.
    Let me know.

  • Cannot play netflicks movies with firefox 4.0.1 on Mac OS X

I update the silverlight plugin and I still cannot play any movies.
    MacBook Pro
    Mac OS X 10.6.7
    Browser: Firefox 4.0.1
Silverlight version: 4.0.60310.0, last update is March 10, 2011
This use to work in previous versions prior to FF 4.0.

n Firefox make sure you have at least two (2) tabs open - (Ctrl+T opens a new tab)
In the address bar of one tab, type "about:config" - minus the quotes, of course
You'll see a warning. Click "I'll be careful, I promise" and continue to the configuration page.
There's a search bar at the top. Type "js" - again, minus the quotes.
In the results you'll see pdfjsviewer.disabled with a vaule of false. Click it once, then right click it and choose Toggle to make the value "True".
    Close that tab.
Click Tools>Options and go to the Applications tab
Locate Adobe Acrobat Document (or Portable Document File (PDF)) in the list and click the drop-down to select "Use Adobe Reader (in Firefox)". (Mine doesn't have that because I also have Acrobat Pro installed)
    Click OK.
Click Tools>Addons to see that the Acrobat plugin is installed
Close and restart Firefox. PDFs should now open in a browser window with the Reader plugin.
Note: This doesn't work for me since the update to 23 and I should have the choice of Reader or Acrobat plugins. Firefox is trying desperatelt to FORCE users to use their crappy PDFJSViewer, which doesn't handle multimedis or forms PDFs.
As to the NPAPI and security risks, that's blown WAY out of proprotion. There are antivirus companies trying to sell their products to Mac users (who will NEVER need them) and they use this "urban legend" to bolster their case.

  • Burned a DVD but wont play in DVD player

pretty much wat the topic says. i'm 13, i burned a few movies that i got from iTunes music store and when i popped the DVD into my DVD player i said that the playback feature was unable to be used or something like that. is there any way i can burn these to a DVD that will work in a DVD player?

I'm sorry to say, no, you can't.
Movies and TV shows purchased on iTunes can only be played on an authorized computer, or on an iPod.
The DVD that you burned is a data DVD, which is a different format than a video DVD. Burning a DVD as you did is a good idea to back up and protect your purchases, but you cannot play the DVD in a regular DVD player.
If you want to watch your purchased movies on a TV, the options are to hook up an iPod to the TV, hookup the computer to a TV, or wait for Apple's iTV product which will allow wireless streaming of video from your computer to your TV.
