Cannot play my AOL purchased songs, authorization prompt keeps repeating

I recently bought a new iMac and now cannot play songs in iTunes that were purchased using an AOL account. If I try to play a song I get a message telling me that AOL can no longer be used and I have to update to a free Apple account to play the songs.
I tried to do this but kept getting the error: 'An error occurred, the iTunes Store could not process your request, please try again later'. Eventually it did allow me to create the new iTunes account and I logged into it but then when I clicked on any of the songs I got the same message telling me that an AOL account can no longer be used ect . . . . . . I also authorized my computer to play my iTunes songs and I got the message saying the computer is successfully authorized, but then when i try to play one of the songs I still just get the same message popping up telling me that AOL can no longer be used and I have to create a free Apple account.
So I am stuck in an authorization loop and to make matters worse it is now telling me that I am allowed to authorize up to 5 computers and this is 5 of 5 so I have reached the maximum when in fact I only have this one computer. I saw the number of authorized computers increase from 3 to 5 during my attempts to authorize this one computer to play my songs so it now seems that in addition to not being able to play my purchased songs, I am at the maximum limit of authorized computers on my account when I only have two in reality.

This is happening to me also. I posted about it: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8422051#8422051
I have contacted apple support through e-mail but all I receive are seemingly rote responses about authorizing computers. The issue affecting me has not been addressed or acknowledged by the support folks.
I will try the repair disk permissions but I think that it is unlikely, as I just bought my macbook last week. I can't see that as being necesarry so soon.

  • Cannot play iTunes store purchased songs when offline.

Yesterday my cable was out for several hours and the iTunes for Windows XP said it was unable to play my purchased songs from the iTunes music store which I've had on my computer for months now because the iTunes account had to be activated. When the cable internet came back on it worked fine. What is the problem with playing my purchased music offline? I've paid for it!

I am trying to use my Apple TV on a boat and do not want to take my computer with me.
Apple TV is not connected to the internet.
I had this working briefly then it stopped with the upgrade to the iPad software.
Apple had me exchange the original ATV thinking it was a hardware issue but now the video will not open.
Airplay will play music from my iPad or iPhone thru the ATV.
When I go to play a slide show from the iPad of albums I have synced the ATV shows 3 slides real fast and then crashes.

I purchased two albums from iTunes but neither properly loaded on my iPad Mini and I cannot play any of the songs.  I have prevously loaded other albums with no problems.  How do I delete these albums and reload them?  I don't see iTunes on iCloud.

If the albums do appear in the Music app, hold down on the album icons and the X to delete will pop up on the icons. Tap the X to delete the albums.
You don't see a anything in iCloud, you see your previous purchases in the purchased tab of the store that you bought the content in. So you find your music purchases in the purchased tab of the iTunes app on your iPad. Tap on Purchased and look for the albums in the Not on this iPad section - assuming that you are able to delete the albums from the device.

My macbook pro is already authorized, but a purchased song from iTunes keeps stating that my computer is not authorized to play it. I enter my apple ID and password, upon which a window confirms that my computer is already authorized. Yet the song still won't play and continues to state that my computer is not authorized.

If you live in a country in which you are allowed to re-download purchased music delete the track from the library and the HDD and re-download it.

When playing music on my iPhone 4S, it keeps repeating the same song, even though it is set at Shuffle.

Make sure you don't have Repeat turned on.  While the song is playing, tap the screen (cover art) if necessary to bring up the extended music controls (see image below).  Then tap the Repeat button until it turns white (which is off).

  • Old purchased song authorization

Recently, re-installed OS Lion. All data was restore succesfully, except one thing.
I cannot play a song that using my family video in iMovie, because the song isn't authorized by my computer....???
I purchased the song when I was on previous address, and I setup for Apple ID for an email address that cable company (RoadRunner: Time Warner).
I moved and don't have access to the email address any more.
I need the song for complete my family video, and I don't want to pay twice for the same song...
How should I solve this problem?
    Respectfully,
    SierraJuliet

You don't need your old email address.  Just authorize your computer to the account from which the song was purchased, using the original Apple ID and password.
At the first opportunity, upgrade your old DRM "protected" songs to iTunes Plus, so that you will not be dealing with authorization problems for the rest of your life.

  • I transfered my music to my new computer and when i play a previously purchased song it stops about 40 seconds before the end of the song...can anyone explain this to me?

I got a new computer so I transfered all my old music to my new iTunes. When I play a song I have purchased on a previous computer, the song stops playing after 40 seconds or so before the song ends. What's the deal?

Does the track play correctly in Quicktime Player?  If it does then it is an iTunes issue.  If it doesn't then it is possible the file was not completely downloaded, or is corrupt.

  • ITunes cannot play any of my songs

why is my iTunes not playing any of my songs in my song library and when i click any song, it tells me the song could not be used because the original file found not be found and will also asked me if i would like to locate?

Have you moved any files or folders in your iTunes folder?  iTunes does not look at or store music.  When you add a track it notes where the file is located it should play when you select the track.  If you move the file or something happens to your computer so the location is no longer valid then iTunes cannot find the file to play.  Have to tried to find a file iTunes should play when you select a track (say "yes" when it asks)?

  • Itunes cannot play mp4 or mp3 songs

    Use win 7

  • I have had my Ipod touch 4th gen for 2+ years and was working fine until I upgraded to ios 6.1.3. Now I cannot play games and most of my apps keep crashing.

My ipod was working just fine for the past 2 years and ever since upgrading to ios 6.1.3, i simply cannot play games or anymore such as Subway surfers, carrot fantasy, 4 pics 1 word, etc. I also noticed that i had 1.2 GB of free space on ios 5.1.1 but then decreased to 900+ MB after "upgrading" to ios 6.1.3. I then deleted one of my space-hungry apps (the sims freeplay) to clear up some space and now have 1.6 GB of free memory. Just a thought, could apple have purposely done this with their software update to actually make an older, phased-out product such as my ipod touch 4th gen work worse than it has in its  previous versions of softwares to force you to scrap it for a newer product?

    - Double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod.
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - iOS: Troubleshooting applications purchased from the App Store
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
