  • Open ports on new airport extreme to play online games

hey, i have the new airport extreme and i wanna play online games.
how do i open ports with the utily that came on disk.
i have no clue how to configure it.
i tried in bridge mode, but than the airport starts flashing amber and other users in house wanna surf on the net aswel.
    kind regards

Airport Utility -> Manual setup (Cmd+L)
    Internet -> NAT
    Enable a default host
    Then in Internet -> DHCP
permanently assign the default host IP to the machine you're going to play the games on.
This is what other routers call the "DMZ" address. Be sure to run a firewall on that machine!

  • Flash Player having problems while playing online games on OS X Mavericks

i use mbp mid 2010 with os x mavericks 10.9.2 and while playing online games, it usually happens some freezes and delays. when i play same game with same browser on windows 7(bootcamp) there is no freeze and delay. i have made lots of search about this and made some optimizations on flash player settings but the problem continues. i use both chrome and firefox on both mavericks and win7 (bootcamp) but having the same problems on mavericks every time. the game is very slow with freeze and delays on mavericks. will adobe make a real effective upgrade about flash player for macs.

Hmmm... Win 7 will run faster than Mavericks with 8Gb. Even my Vm of 7 runs faster once I get it past all the startup processes.
It may or may not be a connectivity problen since Windows uses a different protocol, even though it's on the same hardware. Usually though, what affects OS X will affect BootCamp too.
    What browser?

i've been getting an error when trying to play online games saying that i need to have the browser in 32 - bit mode. my browser is in 32 - bit mode but the msg keeps coming up and not running the game

I dunno, that doesn't make any sense to me.
I just shut down and rebooted into the SnowLeopard partition and took a peek at the preference panes.  There are only 3 that run in 32 bit only.  They are all 3rd party, and none of the prefpanes are non Intel.  Like I said, I have never owned a PPC machine.  Anyhow, SnowLeopard doesn't even have an iCloud prefpane, or a combined mail, contacts, and calenders prefpane, and the ML security and privacy prefpane is all new as well.  The software update prefpane is Intel and 64 bit in both SnowLeopard and Lion.
As to the triple boot, unless I'm totally mistaken, what I have here is, in essence, 3 seperate descrete computers in one box.  All using the same hardware. but one at a time.  I wouldn't know how to get more than one running at the same time, without using a virtual machine, even if I wanted to.  (Which I don't)  I do sometimes transfer files from one to another using the shared folder, but other than that, they do not interact.  How could ML system preferences be trying to launch prefpanes from a totally different machine?

  • I'm connected to the Internet but I can't sign in on Skype or play online games?!

My parents changed the channel for the BT home hub and I am online the wifi config is all green but I can't play online game or Skype as it says I'm offline?! I have gone on advanced settings and updated my mac and restarted it but still no working but it works fine on my phone! HELP!

Am a newbie but somethings may work here, Go to dock preferences and to network and to your airport connection window.
You have a green light signal in network status window? If it is yellow or red it is unavailable. If your connection is full of traffic, this may effect connection.
In window you may need to type in optional search domains. Your provider should tell you this no one else~ They would also walk you through your connection failures. If it is yellow and you connect to your provider's router and don't have your own router, this number may not appear in your connection information. You need to tell them their router is down so they can fix it. They may not find out if pings come back. Pings may also be cached (I am not sure but it might) so it may take them a while to find out if you don't tell them. I would call your provider. Maybe empty your preferences in your browser. You may have cookies or garbage to empty there. Use another browser.

  • Cant play online games anymore

    Hi,
Ever since I installed the new update for OSX, I cant play online games. Warcraft says "unable to connect to battle net". Medal of honor just crashes when I click "browse servers". Quake 3 says "no response from master server". Was working fine just a few days ago and the only change I can think that I made to my system was installing the OSX update. Could that be the problem? anyone else having this problem, or know how to fix it?

    Have you tried this yet?
    1. Click on the Go menu in the menu bar and select the Home menu item.
    2. Open the Library folder.
    3. Open the Preferences folder.
    4. Look for and delete the Preferences file and the Battle.net file if it is there.
What ports do you have open in the Firewall and Router?
In order to connect to Battle.net and allow others to connect to you the following ports need to be opened:
Diablo: TCP and UDP Port 6112
StarCraft/Brood War: TCP and UDP Port 6112
Warcraft II: Battle.net Edition: TCP and UDP Port 6112
Diablo II/Lord of Destruction: TCP Port 6112 and Port 4000.
Warcraft III: TCP Ports 6112 to 6119, unless you have changed the default in the Options/Gameplay screen for port forwarding.
Some firewall programs have preset ports available in their configurations that are often necessary to be open. One in particular is a connection to your DNS server. This usually takes place on UDP port 53.

Hello, i have got a question.
I was trying to play Online games such as MafiaWars, or other online multi player browser game. And with no results, on standard browser even page doesn't load, it does but i could seen just white screen.
Does any one have solve that problem?
I am writing to You just to get discussion about that problem. If anyone have something usefull to say please answer that question.
    Regards, David. Thanks a lot.

I know that farmville could be played if you use Skyfire as your browser, but doing so would need hell of RAM management from you. Use of memcheck, KillMe, an ideal set of installed apps that will not eat RAM while running or installed, etc.

  • Safari not allowing me to play online games

Hey all so when i try to play online games from like adult swim or any website at all none of the controls work I can't click on anything when im in the window for the game and also safari freezes up my computer. i have downloaded all the latest software updates from windows and safari and yet nothing seems to be working. Help me out please..

Safari isn't preventing you from playing any game; the game developer is doing that by only coding for Windows IE. So until they change that, you should use IE to play games, or try using the Develop menu in Safari to choose IE 6 or 7 as the User Agent to see if they will run that way.

  • Error says need plugin to play online games Mac OS 9 w/update, 500mhz 192mb

Hi I want to play online games, I have the 5.1 mac explorer installed and runs quite fast, but I cant play any online games. Error says somewhat like no plug-in or java installed , can anyone help, Mac OS 9 w/update installed, 500mhz 192mb model: M5521 imac g3 powerpc blue color crt, 2000 series

*To play games using IE*, try the following:
Update to Internet Explorer (Classic) 5.1.7
    Internet Explorer 5.1.7
    Internet Explorer v5.1.7
"WARNING:" Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer for Mac on December 31st, 2005, and is not providing any further security or performance updates.
Accordingly, as of January 31st, 2006, Internet Explorer for the Mac is no longer available for download from Microsoft.
    ==========
Once a week in IE Edit>Preferences, delet History, Empty Cache (if you have cable set Cache to 0).
Once a week Go into the system folder>preferences folder & trash the following preferences:
    finder
    ASLM
    PPC Registration Database
Cache.waf-found inside the MS Internet Cache folder
MRJ Cache folder-a new one will be recreated.(If not found go to System folder>Application Support>MRJ Cache folder-trash all you find inside-(DO NOT TRASH THIS FOLDER)
    Download Cache-found inside Explorer Folder
    Downloads.html-found inside Explorer Folder
    History.html-found inside Explorer Folder
Rebuild your desktop w/extensions off. Use Techtool Lite or Trash*Desktop - may delete Finder comments to rebuild your desktop w/extensions off. Does a better job than manually & you avoid all the finger gymnatics. You just have to hold down the shift key to shut off extensions.
Restart to turn the extensions back on again & empty the trash.
If you want to rebuild manually, see KB article http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=10182 Rebuilding Desktop File and Icon Recovery.
If the above does not work, then dump the %#&*X@ & check out other Mac browsers
iCab v3 is a pretty good online game playing browser. You do not have to do all the TLC stuff mentioned above for IE.
BTW: Which online gaming site are you having issues with? Post the link/url for OS 9.x users to test for you.
    Happy gaming!

  • Cannot play online anymore.

    Hello there,
I have been getting no-where with the BT Broadband support (based in India), and stumbled on these forums while looking for help, so i was wondering if anyone on here could help me out please?
I have been having some really annoying issues with the BT broadband for a long time now (since around 2009 to now), at first when i joined BT Broadband i was told i could get speeds around 8mb down and ~1mb up on my line, but that wasn't the case, for a months on end i was stuck on the merry-go-round of calling support, running tests from the master socket, and pretty much being un-able to play online games which is all i wanted the broadband for in the first place,,
and all those months i was being told to, "wait 24hours for the changes to take effect",, "wait 48 hours for the changes to take effect",, but of course, nothing ever changed that i could tell, so it just made me really angry at times.
So, eventually after all my calls to support, and complaining, they sent out an engineer, he replaced all the wireing in the house, he also fitted a new up-to-date master socket (Openreach socket), and my speed jumped from ~3mb down and ~200-650kb up, to an "amazing" 9.4,b down and ~1.3 up at the end of all the work he done, and i didnt even have to wait 24 or 48 hours for anything to "take effect".
This was a solid connection and very stable, and it lasted for around 2 and a half weeks up untill i got a "courtesy" call from BT asking how my broadband was now, i told him the engineer has sorted it all out and i told him my speeds were great and i have no more problems,, well only an hour or so after that call from BT, my speed began to drop out, my connection was cutting off, and i was down to ~ 5.5mb down and right back under 1mb up,, this is when all the real issues started and have not been fixed since. (That was the best 2 and a half weeks of BT Broadband i have ever had).
I had left BT at the end of that contract period seeing as it was only making me angry and i wasnt getting anywhere, i came back to BT in March 2011 as Infinity was due to be rolled out here in Belfast, and i can say that my speeds are back into the 9mb down and 1mb up range again, but this time it just feels like im on what i can only describe as a service thats just above dial up, pages take anywhere up 20 seconds or more to load up, online gaming is just impossible, and there is no point in me trying to upload to my youtube channel anymore as the connection always seems to cut off half way through the upload process.
BT's broadband support based in India, has been no help at all again, they have even managed to waste the time of an engineer as they had sent one out to "test" the line only a few days before that, but he tested the line and the Home Hub 2.0 and there was nothing wrong at all according to them both, they said the line is very good and i should not be having any problems at all, that its probably at BTs end.
Anyway, they sent me out a Home Hub 3.0, but alas, everything is the same connection wise, support is still the same.
I have recently called o2 as suggested by a friend, who told me that they'd tell me straight what my line is capable of,, and they (o2) informed me that i "should" be getting upto 19mb, but on my line its estimated that I'd actually get about 15mb down, he also said my line was capable of 2.5 upload or slightly more, so i took that information back to BT and they just saids they'd run "more tests", to which nothing has came of except "more tests".
So, not only have i been messed around for all this time, but i have been lied to about "what my line can handle", its only getting worse, and i have no idea what to do now, besides leave them, but with infinity coming out in December im not sure.
Two days ago when i called support, they told that they would be sending out one more engineer who would test some things at the exchange then come to my house, and that i have "no need to call them in between then", and just keep observing the speeds on the line every few hours,, i feel like i have just been fobbed off yet again.
Sorry for the long read guys, but i hope that information is helpful to understand my issues with BT broadband, anyway, here is a copy of my stats from the hom hub:
    ADSL Line Status
    Connection Information
    Line state:
    Connected
    Connection time:

    Output power (Down/Up):

    82853 / 124
    Error Seconds (Local/Remote):

My friend told me that it looks like the low noise margin is the problem,
I have consistently asked BT from the start to "Optimize" the line for online gaming, reduce the max delay, (lower PING default to around 8ms). which they were able to do in the beginning for me, but arent now.

    NanoTm wrote:
might be a stupid question but you mention that your having massive problems with slow internet,
since you dont mention it, do you use windows media player extender service ? - Not since i had an xbox 360, it was hopeless and pointless, would that still be active, or is it active by default, if so, how can i disable that,, i like to have my laptop running with a little operations going on as possible!
if its running in the task list then there is a good chance its causing hte problems that are making your internet go slow, disable the media player services (control panel >system security>admin tools>services) its a known problem wiht 7 and for some reason the recent round of updates re-enabled them,
have you done anyupdates or installed anything around the time of the problems starting?
anything even an adobe flash update could of caused the problems, since your connection itself would appear to be fine (from the numbers) the options left are your system (and some inocuous change that has caused a problem) your interneal network setup (you mention a homeplug?)
theres a lot of things that could be causing the problems that have nothing to do wiht BT, yes ok i'll grant that the timeings seem co-incidental but have you searched forums checking to see if others are having hte same problems especially with the router or other hardware you also have in your network ?
also you mention swithing off your laptop and then booting the ps3 game, have you tried leaving the laptop on ? - I have done this before while playing Dead Nation before the game chat was patched in, i used Skype, and there were no problems, but that was a while ago.
I usually switch off the laptop or computer from the internet before i go onto play COD4 just to make sure i dont lag and my connection stays as solid as possible.
not sure about the media player settings wiht ps3 ? i know the hookins are there for some consoles, but dodgy nat settings or port forwarding can also be to blame for consol gaming - I did have port forwarding on with the HH3 to try and make it better, but i didnt do a **bleep** thing, so it got switched back off after a few days of waiting to see if the "changes would take effect" When i put Modern Warfare 2 on earlier, it was "NAT Type 2", so nothing seems to be wrong, but as i mentioned, i was put into a lobby which was 160ms PING (after a long wait which made it more annoying).
    Hi, thanks for your reply,
I have had Homeplug installed since pretty much the start of my service with BT way back in 2009 i think, i had it installed at the time when the engineer replaced all the phone wireing when he got my speed upto 9mb!, so i can rule that out, i also get the same speed using ethernet plugged in downstairs in the master socket, that i do upstairs, both wirless and wired connections get the same speed results, downstairs and upstairs using the homeplug, i get a little faster when i use the test socket though i was advised that i shouldnt use it and that i should only really use the socket on the faceplate,, dont know why tho.
It is really strange to me that i have these speeds, yet for some reason i just can play online anymore,, all of the engineers who have been out say there shouldnt be any issues.
I think what im going to do is just move to a different provider, o2 said on thier "The Works" package i would get 2.5 upload and around 20down,, I'd even be happy with 10down and 2.5 up.
An engineer is going out to the exchange tomorrow to try somethings out, then come to my house afterward to run yet more tests,, then i was told to give it 48 hours (again),, so this is the last time, i cant keep doing this and going through all this nonsense and having to deal with the extremely poor customer services, which might also end up putting me off getting infinity, because when i think about having to spend between 45 minutes to 1hour 45minutes on the phone being passed around and put on hold and having to ask them to repeat themselves, i just cant stomach the thought of it, regardless of superfast broadband or not.
    On the services list:
Windows Media Center Receiver Service - STATUS= Blank (not started) - START UP TYPE= Manual
Windows Media Center Sheduler Service - STATUS= Blank (not started) - START UP TYPE= Manual
Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service - STATUS= Started - START UP TYPE= Automatic (Delayed start)
I stopped the Network Sharing Service like you suggested,, I dont stream content anyway (if thats what it was for), although i dont see why anything on my computer should affect what is happening on my PS3?
Im not one for updating things except what my browser needs to function, i have Windows automatic updates switched off, as all i see them as is an excuse to clutter my HDD and waste my time, i havent updated since i first got my laptop back in early 2010 and it still works fine, i use malwarebytes and AVG 2011 (full suite).
How do i deactivate "Remote Assistence" and Remote Desktop thingy?

  • Cannot Play online music

    Hello There,
I have safari, I cannot play online music on it, from www.smashitsusa.com and many other music sites. I do have real player, WMP, Quicktime installed. Same is the problem with Firefox too. What plugin do I need to download or what do I need to do. Thanks in advance.

How to view/hear pretty much everything:
Assuming you already run OS 10.4.9 or above and have Quicktime 7.2, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer from http://uk.real.com/player/
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
    Adobe FlashPlayer from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
In Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them).
The world should now be your oyster!
You should also have the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

Mozilla are aware of the issue in Firefox 3.6.14 and are working on a fix, no timescale but they are planning on a quick release. Firefox 3.6.15 will fix the issue with some Java applets not working, which has caused many Pogo games to stop functioning.

When I watch a video on a website or play an online game both using Flash, my mouse will drag. This only happens when I watch a video or play a game in Firefox 21.0. If I use different web browsers then I do not have this problem.
I reinstalled Flash but that didn't help me any.
    Problem 2.
Under "Settings for Clearing History" all are checked but I cannot check "Download History".
I want Firefox to automatically clean the Download History when I exit Firefox but it will not do this.
It used to work fine until I updated my Firefox browser.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.
