  • I cannot get Flash Player to install on my Mac

I cannot get Flash Player to install on my Mac Air.  I have repeatedly confirmed that I meet the system requirements and installed and uninstalled the software.  It always fails at 51% installation and give me and alert that says Install Error.  Please help!
    MAC OS 10.8.5
    Safari 6.1
    Firefox 26.0
Just performed the update to FP12 on my iMac.  Worked perfectly.
    MAC OS 10.6.8
    Safari 5.1.10
    Firefox 26.0
It appears the problem is with the newer OS...

"Allllllllrighty then!" as "Ace Ventura" said....
The problem ISN'T with Flash Player...
If you remember back in September, when Apple released the 10.8.5 update, shortly thereafter... you no doubt discovered a file named "mach_kernel" was in your Mac HD directory.  And... unaware of what it was, you deleted it.
That (mach_kernel) is a base file of OS X and Apple screwed up the update and made it "visible" when it's supposed to be hidden.
Hundreds of thousands of unsuspecting Mac Users worldwide deleted it and it'll make things worse as time goes by.
YOU'RE in luck, though. I have a fix.
If you have a TIme Machine and use the "Secrets" pereference pane to reveal "hidden files", you can restore it from a "pre 10.8.5" backup.
If not, I have a "fresh" mach_kernel file you can download.
You'll need to download and install the Secrets prefpane. It'll then be in your System Preferences.
Make sure you have it set to "show hidden files"
Check the box and you have to restart Finder
Press "Quit This" and then go to the Finder Dock icon and right click it
    Select "Open"
    Open your TIme Machine
Go back to September 28 or earlier.
You'll see the mach_kernel file in the Mac HD directory
(I can't show it in the TM because screenshots don't work while it's open but here it is in my MAc HD)
Right click it and select "Restore to"
Then, when it goes back to Finder, choose the Mac HD directory and click OK.
It will place the mach_kernel back where it was and you can install software again
DON'T FORGET to go back and hide your files (and restart Finder) again, or you'll have a mess with the clutter of hidden files everywhere.
IF you don't have the Time Machine...
WITH hidden files shown, download this file (mach_kernel.zip)
Move it to your Mac HD directory and THEN unzip it with Stuffit Expander or TheUnarchiver, whichever you use (most people have Stuffit).
You should see the mach_kernel file there.
You can delete the zip file, and then go back to Secrets in your System Preferences, and uncheck Show Hidden Files.
Restart Finder and it'll be safely hidden again.
THEN you can install Flash Player and other software without the "General Installation Error".

  • Mac OS 10.6  Safari 4.0.3.  Cannot get Flash Player to install.

Did an archive and reinstall of the OS, then went to download center and downloaded Flash Player (again), but when I try to open a video, continue to get the message that I need to download the latest Flash Player. Called Applecare and they got me this far, don't want to PAY Adobe to figure out how to use a free program that apparently I have no choice in using. Cannot view any video.

The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
You should also ensure that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2009-001 (and for Tiger only, 2009-002). (N.B. Security Updates require both a restart and a permission repair.)

  • Cannot get flash player to install?

I have Windows 7 home premium, my flash player was working but quit then I got messages on some pages saying I needed to intall the latest version of flash player but when I try I then get a litte box that says when all program are closed then the flash player will automatically install.  But I closed all the programs and nothing happens as a matter of fact internect explorer still shows up in the little black box as running. I closed everything out so I don't know what else to do and I need my flash player, can someone please help me?

  • How do I play videos without using adobe flash player?

I have a galaxy note 8.0 tablet. I am aware that adobe flashplayer is not compatible. I have downloaded adobe air, but I still am unable to play videos for school. Is there any other ways around this issue? Thank you for your help.

What videos do you mean? The PSE tutorial videos? Videos you made in Premiere Elements? Your question isn't clear, particularly not how this relates to photoshop elements. Can you explain in a little more detail just what you want to do and how it pertains to photoshop elements?

  • FIXED IT, YEAH!!!!  Do you have OS X and you can't get Flash Player to Install completely?

Hey all.  I just figured this out on my own as no one at Adobe will release a playbook that gives proper instructions on this issue.  If you are having issues with the application not installing all of the way, you have a permission issue on the the partition where your Yosemite OS is installed.  Here is how you fix the issue that you are experiencing:
Open Disk Utility (press Command and the Space Bar, then type disk utility)
Locate your disk and the partition where your OS installed.
Select First Aid (in the right pane next to Erase and Restore)
Locate the button "Verify Disk Permissions" and click on it.
Wait, get some coffee and relax, this will all be over soon
When Verify Disk Permissions is complete, click on the button "Repair Disk Permissions"
Now grab breakfast, lunch or dinner and tell someone you love that you love them.
After your disk permissions have been repaired, close out Disk Utility
Open the FlashPlayer installation file and run the installation again.
Finally, whew... Enjoy your entertainment fare.  You made it across the schism that Adobe loves to plague their loyal patrons with.
I hope this helps someone.  Let me know if it worked or didn't; I am curious if you all will see the same success that I have realized.
    Cheers & Many Regards,
    Geoff

This works for most people and is the advice I usually give to Mac users that are having mysterious installer failures.  We have enough of a population that everything that can go wrong will.  Disk corruption is one of those inevitable things that happens, and it causes mysterious problems.  The installer isn't doing anything complex -- it's basically a glorified unzip tool, so when simple operations like "write a couple files" fail, it's typically that we're making a completely standard call the operating system that should never fail, and it's failing -- either silently or with an error, just depending on what's going on.
For what it's worth, I actually correctly diagnosed a broken pin on a monitor cable today based on the description some funky intermittent video playback behavior, so we really *do* see everything on these forums.

  • I can't get Flash Player to install

I'm using Windows 7 (64 bit) and I'm running IE9 and Opera for my browser. I cannot use anything that requires flash player, as it says I need to update mine. When I go to download the new one, it simply refreshes my page with no further instructions, and does not start the download. Occassionally, I can get the download procedure to begin, but I can never get anything to happen after the "Run" step. It simply stops with no notice whatsoever, and no download ensues.
NOTE: I'm also having the exact same problem with Adoe Reader.

Try using the 64-bit installers from http://forums.adobe.com/thread/909550
Download the Adobe Reader installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/direct/ (this link has been working in the past, but I am getting a "currently unavailable" message).
Alternate download for the full installer: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/ (navigate to the version you want to download).
Update:  the Adobe Reader direct download link above is working now.

  • How do I get Flash Player update installed?

When trying to install an update to Flash Player update it tells me it can not install with Mozilla Fire Fox. Also, tells me I have it already but I do not. Also, tells me to uninstall Exlorer, Fire Fox and Adobe before installing. Can you please just tell the 1 -2- 3 of installation of Adobe Flash Player.

I did that a bunch of times. I also deleted it rebooted and installed flash and it still won't work. Some sites I have flash but most don't. I think I would like to go back to the older version. But this problem is only on this M11X with winblows 7 ult. 64. On my other system I have the same but it's only 32b and it works. So how do I get this to work on a 64 system? And if I can't................ Where do I go to go back to the other version?

  • Can not get Flash player to INSTALL!

Hi, I've been trying for two days now to fix this on my
computer and nothing works. I've tried all the suggestions for how
to install this, uninstall, etc. and nothing is working. When I go
to watch a video or something it says I need to download Flash
Player 9. This is something that just started happening recently.
    Please advise.
    Thank you.

Please check your Internet Explorer ActiveX settings
Browser security settings should be chosen by you or by your
system administrator. For single users who do not have an
administrator, the Medium: Default Level allows you to view Flash
content. For any Custom Level, ensure that both the "Download
Signed ActiveX controls" and "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins"
    options are set to "Prompt".
    To change your security level:
    1. Open Internet Explorer.
    2. Choose Tools > Internet Options.
    3. Select the Security tab.
    4. Select Custom Level.
    5. Find the section "ActiveX controls and plug-ins".
    6. Set ' Download Signed ActiveX Controls' to Prompt.
    7. Set 'Run ActiveX Controls And Plug-ins' to Prompt.
If you are having trouble, make sure that your Internet
Explorer security level is not set to High or to a custom level
that does not allow viewing of ActiveX controls.
If you are still unable to install Flash Player, it may be
that you have incorrect permissions in the system registry:
To fix these Windows system registry permission conflicts you
    can use Microsoft’s SubInACL tool.
Please download Microsoft’s tool to your desktop.
    http://www.supportflash.com/reset_min.zip
    1. Login as the User that has the incorrect permissions in
    the system registry
    2. unzip the “reset_minimal.cmd” and the
    “subinacl.exe” to the desktop
*** Make sure both files are on the desktop
    3. Close out all applications
    4. Run the “reset.cmd” file
    5. It will open a DOS like terminal and start running through
    registry keys
    6. When it is finished it will say “press any key to
    continue”
    7. At this point you can download the latest Flash Player

  • How to get flash player to install correctly

    Hi Guys,
my name is Patryk and I need help installing adobe flash player on my computer:
So i download it and when i click on it it pops up with a screen that looks like its the background for the installer window, but I don't see any text, nor installation buttons. I tried to reinstall all of my browsers, Firefox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer, but with no success.
I have Windows 7  64 bit installed on my Optiplex 755 computer. It seems like the installer is broken some how or another.

Thank you all for the replies; I'm quite surprised that this post generated this many replies, thank you all so much!
My problems started when IE tried to update to FP 14.
I did get my issue fixed; I used the Flash Player Uninstaller (found here: http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe), then restarted my computer.
I went to the Flash Player Archives page (http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html), and downloaded the ZIP file under "Release and Content Debugger archives" of the last known good-working version (for me it was 13.0.0.214, released 5/13/2014).
This ZIP file contains 2 different versions for IE, Firefox, and Mac; one folder contains the normal versions, which didn't work for me....I kept getting the same error messages and had to keep using the Uninstaller, then restart computer, etc...
BUT, in the "Debug" folder, with the debug versions of FP, I first installed the IE version (typically named "flash_player_ax_debug.exe" or something similar with the ax designator), this installed just fine and now everything works again!  I then updated Firefox with the other debug version, and everything works fine again.
I don't know if this will work for any other problems, but it worked great for me after having similar issues as the OP.  Hope this helps.

  • How do I get flash player to install

I downloaded the latest version of Flash Play on my computer but when attempting to install on Windows Explorer Version 10 it stops at 50% and tells me I have to close the internet explorer even though there are no program running at the time as I saved the file to the desktop and close the explorer.  How can I finish the installation?  Thanks.

  • After 10 attempts I still cant get flash player to install, I've uninstalled it each time, but still get the same message, that i need ot exit programms that are not running. explorer is ok.

Hi there after firefox updated flash player stopped working so I was asked to update that too, I have tried both the direct x and plugin types and have installed and uninstalled it 10 times the same message comes up, halfway through the install process, that I must exit programmes that are using flash player, which since I have supposedly uninstalled it seems nonsensical, internet explorer seems unaffected, except when I uninstall flash player. I have followed all the instructions that appear on screen

You have Shockwave Flash 10.2 r152 installed in the browser that you used to post here. Best to uninstall that version before installing a later version.
As far as that message, Firefox needs to be closed before starting to install the Plugin version of Flash, so that Adobe can install the plugin for Firefox.
