Cannot play voicemails on Windows 10 / Skype for Desktop

I have the latest Windows 10 and the latest Skype for Desktop. I have tried to uninstall / reinstall Skype and I have cleared the profile completely from C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Skype\ When there is a voicemail message, and I click play, it will look like it's downloading and then go back to the play icon almost immediately. Help!

Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool. Go to Windows Start  and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post. Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

its been like a week that i bought new iphone 5s but whenever i play games or talk in skype for an hour my iphone get extremly hot... idk why?

Why? Because it is working the processors hard. Same as when you work or exercise, your body gets hot, so does the iPhone when it is working. Skype and many games will tax the processors more so than browsing the internet, sending texts or email. So, it gets hot. If it doesn't cool off fairly quickly after you quit Skype or playing your game, or it gets hot when doing less taxing activities, then you might want to have it checked out.

  • Installation Problem - Skype for Desktop on Dell Venue Pro 8

I have a new Dell Venue Pro 8.  It had the modern Skype app installed out of the factory, but clicking on it made me download the Skype for desktop app.  It downloads fine (in looking through the forums, I saw that others had problems with this, but it was fine for me).  The problem comes when it's installing.  Skype brings up the "Installing Skype" window.  The problem is that it takes up the whole screen.  I can do what I need to with the "Select your language" drop-down menu, but there is nothing that lets me go to the next screen.  I see no "Next" or "OK" or anything like that to use to continue the installation process.  I cannot resize the window.  Maximize and minimize are the only options.  "Move" and "resize" are grayed out. Thank you for any ideas!

Try to install the currently latest Skype 7.7.0.102 version using this installer: http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_7.7.0.102.msi

  • Skype for Desktop on WIndows 8.1

I have a computer running Windows 8.1.  I am having the following issues with Skype.
When using the Windows 8.1 App for Skype, I cannot share a desktop which is needed for my business.
    2. When using the Skype for Windows Desktop, I can share a desktop, however both the App and the Desktop 6.13 rings on incoming calls, also to close either I have to go to the Task Manager and end the application that way.  Close on Desktop does not work.  Even if I log out then try to close.
    What are my options..

Screen sharing is still not available on the "modern" Skype app for Windows 8. This feature is only available with Skype for Windows desktop.

  • Skype for Modern Windows and Skype for Windows Desktop on a tablet???

Hi All. I am a newby here so please be patient I have a 6 month old Toshiba Encore that comes installed with "Skype for Modern Windows". When I opened Skype today I received an advice/advert saying that this service will cease July 7 and I should uninstall and update to "Skype for Windows Desktop". News flash.... I have a tablet and it is telling me to install a Desktop version? Is this correct, dispite that my device is a (Windows 8.1) OS tablet, am I still required to make the conversion? Any advice most appreciated.

And just in case your next question is "Why". I am just a user like you so no inside knowledge but from what I have read it is partly down to the "Modern" version actually being based on "Old" tech, so it couldn't intergrate with the cloud based future of Skype and partly down to it isn't probably worth fixing (It had a lot of issues that I could see). Unfortunatly for some it is a bit inconvenient that it's being killed off before Windows 10 is released. The one thing I liked about the "Modern" version was the intergration with for example your contacts in the people app, but if you uninstall (Or when it gets killed off in a couple of weeks) you lose that intergration. I know you still have it in Outlook with intergration for the desktop version but to be honest Outlook isn't great on a seven inch tablet either. From my understanding when 10 is finally here and Skype catches up there will be full Skype intergration with your contacts again (Although I could be wrong and that is for the WP). Anyway, I for one would love MS to consider the universal app idea based on the WP version for smaller or all tablets. Maybe someone from Skype will reply?

  • Can install "Skype for Windows" and "Skype for Bus...

    Hi! All,
"Skype for Business" has been installed into my office PC.
I would like to know that I can install "Skype for Windows" into this same PC or not?
Is there any conflict in using between these two editions on same PC?
    Thanks!

I have had both installed for months.  I have not run into any problems with them both being present.  I could see there being an issue if you plan to accept a call if you are on another call with the opposite client (since the mic/playback hardware would already be in use).

  • Skype for Desktop Not Launching on Surface 3

I have a new Microsoft Surface 3 and when I tried to use the Skype app for the first time today, I got the following message. Time to get a new Skype app We've replaced the app with an improved Skype experience.  See what you can do with the new app.  Download now. On 7 July 2015, we will be turning off Skype for Modern Windows......please download Skype for Windows Desktop. After I have followed the instructions and removed the old app and downloaded and installed the new program (7.6.80.105) and pinned it to the Start sceen, when I launch it, having entered my log-in credentials, I am taking to a "Skype" window, but it only allows me to manage my Microsoft account.  This screen starts with: Hello!  Here's where you manage your account. There are no options anywhere on this screen to launch the actual Skype program. Please advise that has happened, as - at the moment - I have a new Surface 3 that cannot run Skype. Thank you.

    Hi,
Can you share a screenshot of what your are seeing when you launch the Skype app?
You might want to try clicking the "Sign in with a different account" link at the bottom of that window and see if that helps to take you back to the "Sign in to Skype with my Microsoft account" option.

  • Skype for Desktop is unusable on Tablet devices

Why am I being forced to use the desktop client when it functions terribly on tablets? I enjoyed being able to use a full-screen, resizeable/multitasking client, and now I can't even see what I'm typing with the on-screen keyboard, along with being subjected to the awful banner ads that even further shrink visibility.  For the love of god, either bring back Skype for Modern Windows, or give us the option to change the interface in the Desktop app to look like it used to. Given that I literally cannot even use the client right now, no thanks to the limited ability for Skype to shrink its window past a certain size being what prevents me from seeing what I'm even typing, I will be seeking an alternative IM client unless this is resolved.

Go to the store and look for Skype Translator, it is basically the "modern" app with the translation bits added. It's not perfect but compared to the desktop version on a tablet its wonderful. And like the rest of us, join the queue for a proper explanation from someone at Skype or MS.

  • Skype for Desktop on Windows 8.1 Issues

Last week, I installed Windows 8.1, and now when I log on to Skype, my Home Screen is replaced with "Skype Home unavailable
Skype Home is unavailable at the moment. Check back later to see your news and alerts.
It's easy to start a conversation on Skype:
Choose a contact and start talking
Call a phone or mobile from the dial pad, or send an SMS."
Also, whenever I send a message, the loading symbol at the side never stops spinning, and I have made sure that I am connected to the Internet. I have the same version of Skype I had prior to the "update", and I have the same programs installed also. Any help would be nice.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ryan
