Cannot Port Forward RV042 in "Router" Mode

I use an RV042 exclusively as our VPN host to our main network for branch office connectivity. The RV042 is configured in Router Mode and does not provide Internet / NAT access to the LAN. I would like to add an additional role to this unit by having it Port Forward web requests to an internal Web Server. It appears that the router cannot do Port Forwarding while configured in Router mode; can you confirm this to be true? Is there a work around or an alternate configuration that would allow me to port forward web requests from the Internet to my Internal Web Server and still keep the RV042 in Router only mode?
Thanks

Mike,
The port forwarding feature only works in the context of NAT. This is true for all small business routers.

  • Cannot fast forward in music video mode.  How can I accomplish this

Cannot fast forward in music video mode.  How can I accomplish this.  Cannot rewind either.  Am I missing something?  If I change the Music Video to TV Show or Movie can both rewind or fast forward.   For now all concert videos are in Movies, which might be the right place for them, but kinda weird Itunes does this.

I am by no mean an expert and I'm sure there are easier ways to accomplish this... however one way is to do something like this:
-Use selection tool to select all blue background, soften the edges of the selection then delete the selection.
-Here you will have a white background and dull looking image with not the greatest edges.
-Zoom waaaay in and use a softer eraser brush on the edges.
-Use various sharpening, brightening, white levels adjustments to make your image prettier.
-Pay attention to the diamond, select the diamond with a selector tool and sharpen, etc. Consider adding a layer to add additional detail to just the diamond.
-Consider using the clone stamp to smooth out any markings on the silver tone band.

  • Arrrgghhhhh Cannot port forward.......

    Hi All
I am running a Solwise SAR-600E ADSL Router and try as I might I cannot get a port forward working.
I have been to the Port Forward website read loads of stuff found the port fort forward settings for another Solwise router which is as good as identical to what I have.
I have spent since last Monday trying to get this router to do this.
Can any more expierenced Ethernet router user offer any advice please.
I have my Mac setup in static IP address mode.
If more info required please ask
I think there maybe other setting on the router that need adjusting ohter tham the port forward setting to get this going, but hey what do I know I'm a noob with these things.

    Hi Ya
Always the way is'nt it, post for help then solve your own problem.
It turned out that I had the remains of a firewall program that I used to run still sitting in the background checking unwanted traffic.
I pinged towards the router and got blocked.
Removed offending files and all now OK..

  • Port Forwarding Comcast Modem/Router for enabling ...

The process of port forwarding seems long and complicated. Is the Freetalk Connect Me phone adapter, which is no longer offered by Skype, worth it? I'd like to begin using my Skype service and use Comcast only for internet. The modem/router I use now has two phone ports. Will default settings in Skype allow me to use this modem?

Skype's standard service doesn't natively support SIP, only through the use of the connect service which is pricier.  The failure was my experience,  it may not be the same for you, whatever software or hardware issues create the problem might be addressed in the newer releases.  I guess I will find out over time.  I'm still slowly trying to figure out if they are repairable and I've been partially successful.  One other similar device is the Soundwin SP110.  Someone posted what I think is the most reasonable price I have seen it for.(http://global.pchome.com.tw/english/?m=item&f=exhibit&IT_NO=DSAD04-A64453055).  It's getting better with firmware updates, but I personally don't own one.

  • Port Forwarding in WRT54GL Router does not work

When i forward ports in the firware it does not work correctly. I tested it using http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and it still said that the port was closed.

Who is your ISP. When you do port forwarding make sure you have entered the IP address of the computer for which you need to enable port forwarding. Under "Security" Tab uncheck "Block Anonymous Internet Request" and click on Save Settings. After this try testing if that port is opened or not. What ports numbers you are trying to open on your router.

  • Port Forwarding on a Router

I'm getting quite frustrated with ARD 2.2. I'm trying to use ARD over the internet to teach my parents how to use their iMacs. I have all of the Network and Sharing settings turned on at their end, which isn't easy to accomplish since they are novice users 1500 miles away. I can use ARD to access and control the macs on my local network, but every time I input my parent's IP addresses, I get the message "Verify Failed", and it can't be because I have the wrong User Name or Password.
I've read a lot about port forwarding for macs behind a router and I may need to do it. But it seems like everyone but me knows how to forward a port and nobody has given step-by-step instructions on how to do this. So I have some questions.
    1. I have a Linksys router on my end and a MacSense router on theirs. Do I need to enable Port Forwarding on both routers?
    2. When I enter their IP addresses, their computers are "seen" by ARD. How can it "see" these computers if the port forwarding is not enabled?
    3. My Linksys router has a web page that controls it, but nowhere is there a "Port Forwarding" option. Where is this located? Is it called by another name? Does it have something to do with NAT? How exactly do you "adjust" NAT settings to open a port?
All the macs in question are using OS 10.4.5 or 10.4.6. My version of ARD is 2.2. Here is the line of connection between their macs and mine:
Parent's iMac : MacSense Router : Cable Modem : INTERNET : Cable Modem : Linksys Router : 4 Port Hub : Airport Extreme Base Station : Powerbook G4.
I would appreciate any suggestions at this point. Thanks!

Things have taken a turn for the worse. After my last solution, we found that my Mom's iMac could not send email. She could receive mail and surf the internet, but not send. The problem showed up as soon as I mucked about with the router ports. She has a .Mac account, btw.
To complicate things, my ARD connection shows my Dad's iMac, not Mom's. I could connect to Dad's iMac through ARD but not Mom's. Only if we shut down Dad's iMac could I connect to Mom's. The odd thing was the connection I was getting to Mom's iMac was listed as Dad's computer!
I have read that ARD can only connect to one computer behind a router. No biggie, I'll just have them turn one off when I use the other. But how to solve the send email problem?
I decided to use the DMZ (De-Militarized-Zone) setting of their router to open all ports on one IP address. When I did this we could finally see my Mom's iMac with her proper name in ARD. But joy was short lived because my control and observe attempts failed. I get the message "Connection Failed to XXX" where XXX is the name of Mom's iMac. Adding insult to injury, the mail still won't send.
ARD shows the Current Application, Current User and Status (Available). I can send messages through ARD and they are received successfully (they can see the messages on their end).
If I can get this far, why can't I observe? And what happened to the sending of email? Help me Obi Won Kanobi - you're my only hope!

  • How to DHCP port forward on Dlink Router

    Greetings,
I have 3 computers on a LAN. Powerbook G4 (Mac OSX Server 10.4.11), Macbook Lepoard (OSX 10.5.2), and Windows XP. I have Dlink Wireless Router (DIR-625). My Powerbook is connected to router via ethernet cable. the others connect wireless.
i want to use Powebook G4 running server to act has DHCP Server, and NAT. Currently, I setup Dlink to act as a Wireless Access Point by turning of router's DHCP server. I assigned Powerbook a static IP address then turned on DHCP server with DHCP ranges. (no overlapping). Then I assigned Dlink a ip address outside of the range. I turned off everything. Then turned on devices in this order.
    1. Router
    2. PowerBook
    3. Other computers
When I check my Macbook connection. It self-assigns IP and does receive DHCP from Server. I checked all settings. But no luck. Is there another way to do this? should i be port forwarding instead?

  • Can implement port forwarding using win2003 routing and remote acccess?

    I have a sql server 2005 with a  internet ip address b and a computer onwindows 2003 with a internet ip address a .
Now I want to use address "a" 's 14330 port to access sql server 2005 on ip address "b" with port 1433.
I use router and remote access to implement this, but fail.
in every server only have a adaptor and a ip.
    How to do it?
Please tell me how to implement it from "routing and remote access" in detail.
    I dont want use netsh.

    Hi,
I think this will not work. As we know, when a source computer send a request to SQL server, the packet should contain the following information.
Source IP and port number (this port is a randomly generated)
Destination IP and port 1433 (SQL by default)
So we cannot control which port to use when connecting another service.
    Hope this helps.

  • ActionTec + second router = port forwarding issue

I'm having an issue with port forwarding (or maybe routing) across a pair of routers with different subnets. I know just enough about networking to be dangerous, but I can't figure this out. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable here can assist me.
Here's how my network is currently setup:
    1) Standard FIOS ActionTec MI424-WR Rev D router, using default 192.168.1.* subnet.
    2) Added a second router (D-Link Wireless-N w/ Gigabit Ethernet) using the 192.168.2.* subnet.
    3) A patch cable connects an ActionTec LAN port to the D-Link WAN port.
    4) Most of my computers connect to the D-Link router for faster network speeds (desktop PC, NAS, etc.)
    5) Both routers are running DHCP and broadcasting different SSIDs. This is so I can have a private network for my personal data (192.168.2.*) and a guest network (192.168.1.*) that friends/family/guests can use. Basically, from the 192.168.2.* network, I can access any network resource on either subnet; the 192.168.1.* network, however, cannot (easily) access the resources on the other subnet.
    6) This setup works perfectly and has met all of my needs so far.
Now, the problem I'm running into:
I purchased a security camera to monitor my home over the internet while away. It is connected to the D-Link router and I can access the camera without issue while on the 192.168.2.* network. Everything works fine locally. However, I cannot access the camera from the internet.  For sake of ease, let's use the following example setup:
    Internet IP = 74.1.2.3
    Router 1 = 192.168.1.1
    Router 2 = 192.168.2.1
    Camera = 192.168.2.2
    Camera Port = 12345
Accessing the camera locally via http://192.168.2.2:12345 works fine, but accessing it remotely via http://74.1.2.3:12345 does not. I assume a route or port forward needs to be set on Router 1 (the FIOS ActionTec)? Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    -Patrick
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

For future viewers, I will throw this out there. You don't normally want two routers with two port forward rules. The best practice is to give the second router a static ip on the lan of the first router and then put the second router in the dmz of the first router, and then apply port forward uses to the dmz'd router.

  • Port forwarding issues

I'm trying to set up Azureus or transmission but I cannot open the ports successfully.
The setup is: ADSL router -> gigabit wired switch -> macbook pro
Upnp is enabled on the router. I spent a long time on IRC trying to solve the problem with some azureus support guys, but we couldn't figure it out. I have set up a manual port forward in the router to my mb. I set the correct port in azureus (/transmission), set an exception in the firewall, but a port test still doesn't work. If I disabled the firewall on the router or my mac, it doesn't work. It doesn't work as an administrator or restricted user. It isn't any settings in Azureus or transmission as I haven't changed the defaults. If I enable upnp in azureus, it works but is slower than it should be, and it should work without it. I'm pretty sure it isn't anything to do with the router as a windows PC set up in exactly the same way with a different IP and port works. I believe this is something on the mac that is blocking the connections, but as I've only had this mac 2 days and I've not installed much, I don't see what it can be.
EDIT: I could be mistaken, but web downloads seem very slow too. I should get around 400kb/s, I actually get about 20-50 on most downloads it seems.
I've pretty exhaustively tested this now and its getting quite frustrating. I can post Azureus's upnp logs if anyone wants to see them.
    MBP 15" 2.4ghz Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    Thanks for the help.
I use openDNS, so it shouldn't be slow.
I've tried transmission as well as Azureus. I've also used limewire which says the connection is 'turbo-charged' even when I disable upnp, so that's no help really.
    Done the last two steps.

  • New Customer Experience with Port Forwarding

OK, so my OpenReach Modem and HomeHub 3 were installed last week and all seemed OK at first.
    A bit of background:
I'm a seasoned IT guy and have a nice network set up at home that caters for my needs (most of the time).
Without going into too much detail, I have my own DHCP/DNS server and I run a Webserver for personal use.
I have Virgin Broadband - which work most of the time.
I've also just had BT Infinity installed so I should always have Internet access no matter which ISP is having issues.
I was hoping to be able to access my webserver externally from either my BT or Virgin. I didn't think this would be an issue.
It still all works fine through my Virgin connection. I use dynamic DNS (no-ip.org)  to get to my server.
On the Virgin Superhub - I have DHCP switched off and all my machines (except one at the moment) get the Virgin router assigned as the Internet gateway (via my own DHCP server).
My test machine gets a the BT HomeHub 3 assigned as the Internet gateway (also from my own DHCP server) and I have switched off DHCP on Home Hub.
Before I move onto my issue, I have to say that the above network setup works flawlessly.
The Virgin Router is on 192.168.0.1, The Home Hub is on 192.168.0.2.  (subnet 255.255.255.0)
They are on the same network but because DHCP it switched off on both routers - everything is happy.
I can access my Server from the Internet via my no-ip.org address and it all works great.
    The issue:
I thought it would be relatively simple to configure the BT Home Hub 3 to access my server from the Internet.
Hmmm. Port Forwarding seems to be the issue. It just doesn't work reliably enough. Sometimes it works, then sometime it stops working. Right now it's not working.
At first I though it was just me, not configuring it correctly. But no.
Then I started reading this forum and found there are reports of issues with port forwarding going back a year.
I don't know if that a good or bad thing - an issue running that long must be on the verge of getting fixed right?
Or any issue running that long without resolution probably has no simple resolution or just isn't a priority (for BT) maybe.
    My Question:
(and I think I already know the answer)
Has anyone got a sure fire way of configuring the HomeHub3 so the port forwarding works?
Or should I just throw in the towel now and buy a Dual Wan Router?
    One last note:
This morning my Infinity Broadband Speed dropped from
38Mb down/6Mb Up (measured several times yesterday)
    to
0.7Mb down/0.3Mb Up (yes those decimal points are in the right place)
    And I haven't got a clue why.
I power cycled the HomeHub and it returned to normal. Does this happen to other people?
    Cheers
    Graeme.

you cannot forward this outbound port twice
There is no "port on my network" A port is associated with a IP address not a network.
My webserver listens an port 80 - requests from the Internet for http are port forwarded by the router (either BT Homehub or Virgin Superhub) to port 80 at address 192.168.0.5 (in my case).
If I am trying to access my webserver from the Internet, I point my browser at the WAN IP address of my router (again it doesn't matter which one - BT or Virgin) and the router port forwards the request to my Webserver.  Each router can do this independently.
"you cannot forward this outbound port twice"
As explained above - It's an inbound port not an outbound port.
I appreciate you are trying to be helpful but just telling me something is not possible without explaining why its not possible doesn't really help me.
As I said before, this was working fine, then it stopped working but only when trying to access my webserver via the BT Router. It still works fine from my Virgin Router. I used WireShark and port mirroring on my switch to prove that the Home Hub as stopped port forwarding inbound traffic to my webserver.
This is a problem with port forwarding on the Homehub, not my network setup. Looking at other posts on this forum - I'd suggest I'm not the only one having problems.
To be honest, it's the least of my problems with the HomeHub right now. I'm far more concerned with the fact that twice today I've had to power cycle it because the throughput has dropped from 38Mbit-down/6Mbit-up to <1Mbit-down/<1Mbit-up. It's a known problem, BT are working on it, yet I still am paying full price for a product that should never had made it out of Beta test.

If anyone can help please do
    Thanks in advance,
    Cailer

It looks like you have assigned your server a fixed (static) LAN IP address of 192.168.1.101  ---  is this correct?    If you are not using a fixed LAN IP address in your server, you probably should be, otherwise, from time to time, your server will get a different address from the DHCP server, and your port forwarding won't work.
If you did setup your server with a fixed LAN IP address of 192.168.1.101, then you are probably using an illegal fixed LAN IP address.  With Linksys routers, fixed LAN IP addresses must be outside the DHCP server range.  (This is different from D-Link routers.)
Rules for using fixed LAN IP addresses on Linksys routers:
With Linksys routers, a fixed (static) LAN IP addresses must be assigned in the device that is using the address. So you need to enter the fixed address in the computer or printer, not in the router.
When using a Linksys router, any fixed LAN IP address must be outside the DHCP server range (typically 192.168.1.100 thru 192.168.1.149), and it cannot end in 0, 1, or 255.
Therefore any fixed LAN IP address would normally need to be in the range of
    192.168.1.2 thru 192.168.1.99 or
    192.168.1.150 thru 192.168.1.254
assuming you are still using the default DHCP server range.
Also, in the computer, when you set up a static LAN IP address, you would need to set the "Subnet mask" to 255.255.255.0 and the "Default Gateway" to 192.168.1.1
It is also important that no two devices on your network be set to the same static LAN IP address.
Check all of your static LAN IP addresses. If you have violated any of the above rules for static LAN IP addresses, it could be the cause for your problem, and you should fix it before attempting any other router repairs or changes.
Also, are you sure you need to use port 443 ?   Port 443 is usually used for "https" communications.  Is that what you are using it for?

  • EvoCam & Port Forwarding

    Hi All
I have set up EvoCam built in web server so that i can remotely access the iSight cam over the net.
Because I run over a router with a firewall in it the address of the camera is http://192.168.1.3:8080/webcam.html.
Therefore, I think I need to get involved with port forwarding. How do I do this and what are the implications given that my ISP allocates IP addresses each time I log onto the network.
(A step by step guide re the port forwarding would be appreciated. I have a BT Voyager 2100 wireless router. The images from the camera stream to Safari locally OK).
    TIA
    David
PS I there likely to be any conflict with iChat or any other app regard the use of port 8080 or should I select another port altogether?

For a good start at all you want to know about port forwarding, see:
      http://www.portforward.com/
Once you understand the "Start Here" info, move on to the Port Forwarding for the BT Voyager 2100 Router page.
As you will see there, you need a static IP address to setup port forwarding on your router. If EvoCam's Help cannot off you any useable alternatives to port forwarding, contact your ISP to find out how to obtain a static IP address.
