Cannot preview PDF in Designer 8.1

Hi,
I'd just recently installed FoxIt (an alternative to Adobe Reader) to test compatibilities and what are the limitations. It's good for viewing but not for dynamic PDF or even extended PDF.
It also seems that it corrupted the preview tab in the LC ES Designer and I cannot now preview my forms anymore directly. The LC ES designer, however, will open the browser to preview the form. the error message I'm getting when I try to preview or, even open a new documnet, is the following:
"There is a problem With Acrobat/reader. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again." Shortly after that LC ES Designer crashes!!!
How I can return my designer to it's initial state?
[Note1: I'm currently running Windows Vista and I have Adobe Reader 8.1 and Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1]
[Note2: I have done the following in the shown order:
1. Uninstall FoxIt (I've test LC ES Designer again and the problem still exits)
2. Upgraded Reader to 8.1.1
3. Uninstall LC ES 8.1
4. Install Acrobat Professional 8.1
5. Install LC ES 8.1]
You help is highly appreciated.
BR,
Yasser

I'd suggest uninstalling Reader, and reinstalling.
It sounds like FoxIt is hijacking some of Reader's registry entries. Upgrading Reader probably won't fix these, but uninstalling and reinstalling may.

Help. I cannot preview PDF files in IE10 using Adobe Reader XI

    Hi,
Snow Leopard has done some changes to that process.
Have a look at this MacWorld article http://www.macworld.com/article/143023/2009/09/combinepdf_snowleopard.html

  • Cannot preview PDF files in MS Word

After downloading Adobe XI I cannot preview PDF files from MS Word file list

Word cannot and will not open or preview PDFs because a PDF IS NOT a word document or text document.
If you try File>Open and choose a PDF you will see a page full of Unicode which makes up the PDF. That I guarantee will be completely useless to you.
PDFs open in Reader and Acrobat (or Foxit - but that's not an Adobe product)

  • Cannot preview PDF

I have Acrobat 7.0 Professional along with the LiveCycle Designer. When I want to preview my form the "PDF preview" under view and the layout editor is greyed out. How can I get it to function.

Are you able to view PDF's within your web browser? Do you have previous versions of Acrobat installed, or uninstall them prior to installation of v7.0?
Probably best to troubleshoot in those areas. You could always save the form from Designer and open in Acrobat separately, albeit not a glamorous workaround.

  • After the latest update 10.9.2 my macbook pro wont preview pdf in safari or chrome?

After the latest update 10.9.2 on my macbook pro I cannot preview pdf in my browsers (safari and chrome), I can save the pdf and view it later though. As an example I cannot preview it in my gmail, instead of adobe little icon there is a question mark.

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to print by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar may appear under the cursor. Click the printer icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
    Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
    Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others — I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • Previewing pdf files in Windows 8

I have a new Samsung Ulimate laptop with Windows 8- Nice machine but not fit for purpose as I cannot preview pdf files in Windows Explorer- every file just has the pdf icon with no preview and only the filename to differentiate them. Is this a known problem. Is there a reliable fix?

  • Preview PDF tab unavailable on Designer 9 with Reader 9

    Hello,
I just begin learning LifeCycle and I have a problem viewing the preview PDF tab in the designer.
The problemlooks the the same as discribed ther : http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/331/331391.html
But, I checked the solution and the check box they suggest to check is already checked.
    Can someone help me ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
In this situation it sometimes helps to open Reader (or Acrobat) first AND THEN open LC Designer.
Not a full solution. If you search the forum, people have proposed more robust solutions.
    Good luck,

  • I cannot ope PDF files that are within a web link.  Neither Safari nor Firefox will work.  If I receive a PDF file as an email attachment, I can open it with either Adobe or Preview.  I'm running 10.6.8 on an iMac.

I'm going to re-state this.  Several weeks ago, I had installed Security Update 2012-004 on my iMac.  I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  Immediately afterwards, my Mail 4.6 was GONE.  Mail 4.2 was there, but the system would not open it.  The Apple Support Communites quickly solved my problem.  The problem lay within the Update.  Now, I cannot open PDF files that are contained within a website, i.e. a lunch menu that is on a restaurant website.  This happens on both Safari and Firefox.  If someone sends me an email with an attached PDF file, I can open the file with either Adobe or Preview.  This is happening only on my iMac.  My MacBook Pro, also running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 has not experienced either the first or second problem.  Thanks for any help you can offer.

    Does this help with Firefox?

  • Preview PDF crashes in LiveCycle Designer

I'm new to LiveCycle designer and PDF development and am working through the first LiveCycle Designer tutorial. When I click on Preview PDF, LiveCycle crashes -
MicroSoft Visual C++ Runtime Library -
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I am running on Windows 7, have Adobe Acrobat X Pro and Reader 9.4.0 installed.

Thanks. I tried that and it did not work. Ultimately I fixed it by uninstalling Reader and installing the latest version.

  • LiveCycle Designer 8.0 preview pdf issue

Is anyone having a problem when creating a form, then using the preview pdf to check the layout? Everything is showing up, but you can't do anything, such as filling in fields, drop down the lists, check radio buttons, etc. If I save the file, then open it up in reader, everything works as it should.
    Mark

    Hello Mark,
It sounds like the PDF is rendered as a non-interactive form.
    1. Go to File | Form Properties.
    2. Click on the Defaults tab (could be Preview tab if using newer version of Designer).
    3. Set the Preview Type to Interactive Form.
    Does this resolve your problem?

  • No Preview PDF tab in LiveCycle Designer

I have both LiveCycle Designer ES3 and Adobe Pro 11 installed on my computer. I am unable to select the Preview PDF option from the View menu item and there is no Preview PDF tab next to the Design View tab like there used to be. I can't recall what could have happened, but I know I had it before.
All I can find when I search on this issue is that I must have both LiveCycle and Adobe Pro or Adobe Reader installed. Like I said, I have Adobe Pro, so that isn't the issue.
    Can anyone help?
    thanks.
    Amy

Thanks. I tried that and it did not work. Ultimately I fixed it by uninstalling Reader and installing the latest version.

  • Where is PDF preview tab in designer?

I have read a number of forums, however none of the suggested solutions have remedied this issue. I have Designer ES 8.2, Reader 9.1 & Acrobat Extended 9.1.  I run reader to show clients how an extended form will look when they opened in reader.  has anybody resolved this issue?

My preview pdf tab is sometimes there and sometimes not. I found that if it is not there the following gets it back.
I save the form and then do File>distribute form. When the wizard comes up I just cancel it. This opens Acrobat and displays the form, which I can then close. When I go back to designer my original form is closed and I have to open it again, but magically when I do, the preview pdf tab appears. It stays put for session once I have done this, so I don’t have to do the dummy distribute form every time.
Not sure why this works or if its going to work all the time, but I hope it helps someone else
