Cannot print from laptop via NIC while wireless is enabled

Question

I use my laptop wirelessly in my office downstairs and have always printed via LPT1 port.  My new laptop does not have a parallel port so I connected to my printer via network cable.  I can ping and print only when the wireless card is disabled.  Therefore cannot print anything while on the internet.  The laptop is assigned an IP address from wireless G router automaticly in the 192 range.  I assigned the network card and printer to a static address also in the 192 range.  Can someone please help me with my configuration oversight?

Your static LAN IP addresses have been set incorrectly.  This is likely the cause for your problems.
With Linksys routers, a fixed LAN IP addresses must be assigned in the device that is using the address.  So you need to enter the fixed address in the printer and in the NIC, not in the router.
When using a Linksys router, any fixed LAN IP address must be outside the DHCP server range (typically 192.168.1.100 thru 192.168.1.149), and it cannot end in  0, 1, or 255.
Therefore any fixed LAN IP address would need to be in the range of
192.168.1.2       thru 192.168.1.99  or
192.168.1.150  thru  192.168.1.254
assuming you have not changed the default DHCP server range.
Also, although your printer may need a fixed LAN IP address, it is unlikely that your computers need fixed addresses.  Unless you have a specific need for a fixed LAN IP address for you computers, it is best to let them get an address from the router's DHCP server.
