Cannot print from my macbook pro on wireless canon printer mixed enviorment

Hi,
I recently bought a macbook pro and added it to my home network.  I printed wirelessly to my canon mx870 fine when i first set up.  Now, it will not print.  It does thru the motions of printing but nothing comes out and there is no error.  If i plug the printer in it works.  I have a pc set up to the wireless printer as well.  Not sure if that makes a difference.  That still works.   Any assistance would be appreciated!

What OS are you running?

  • Why can't I print from my MacBook Pro to my Canon MP640?

Its a wireless connection, and each time I try to print after about 5 seconds of "Printing" message, I get "Paused" message.
Any help with trouble shooting greatly appreciated.

I suggest you delete the current print queue and add the print queue again. So, open Print & Fax, select the MP640 printer in the list and press the minus button underneath the Printer list. Then click the + next to the minus and select the Default view. The MP640 will appear immediately as a Bonjour Scanner. You need to wait several more seconds until you see a second MP640, this time showing 'canonijnetwork' in the Kind column.
If the MP640 printer or scanner is not visible in the Default view then please reply.

  • How do you setup a canon mp620 to print from a Macbook Pro?

How can i print from my MacBook Pro with a canon mp620 printer? I have the printer setup with a PC via USB and want to add the MacBook as a new computer and print wirelessly. I have tried the installation cd and updated drivers from canon website but it still wont work.

I have managed to get my working. Firstly, I googled the CUPS drivers for the printer and then downloaded those from canons website. I then went to print and scan in system preferences and noticed that the printer had appeared there. I believe it was those drivers that made the difference but i was fiddling for hours before that so i cant be 100% sure how i got it to work.

    hi FalconMom,
EWS stands for Embedded Web Server.  You will be able to access the printer EWS if it is connected to the same network as your PC or notebook.  Here are the instructions to connect to EWS.
    Open the embedded Web server
You can access the embedded Web server via either the network or Wi-Fi Direct.
To open the embedded Web server via network
NOTE: The printer must be on a network and must have an IP address. The IP address for the
printer can be found by pressing the Wireless icon or by printing a network configuration page.
In a supported Web browser on your computer, type the IP address or hostname that has been assigned to the printer.   For example, if the IP address is 192.168.0.12, type the following address into a Web browser:
    http://192.168.0.12.
To open the embedded Web server using Wi-Fi Direct
From the Home screen, touch (Wireless) and then touch (Settings).
If the display shows that Wi-Fi Direct is Off, touch Wi-Fi Direct and then switch it on.
From your wireless computer, turn wireless on, search for and connect to the Wi-Fi Direct name,
for example: DIRECT-**- HP Officejet-5740 (where ** are the unique characters to identify your
printer). Enter the Wi-Fi Direct password when prompted.
In a supported Web browser on your computer, type the following address: http://192.168.223.1.

  • I have a HP Laserjet P1102w printer hooked up to the USB port of my Airport Extreme. I'm able to print to the printer wirelessly from my MacBook Pro. My iPad (2nd gen) can't find the printer. What do I need to do?

My iPad is on the same network as the Airport Extreme. The HP printer is on the list of Airprint printers but I'm not using it as a wireless printer, per se, as it's hooked up to the USB port on the Airport Extreme.
I installed the HP ePrint app on my iPad. Unfortunately, the app could not find the printer either.
As mentioned earlier, I'm able to print wirelessly to the HP printer via my MacBook Pro.

    ApplePearApple wrote:
Since I'm able to print to the HP printer from my MacBook Pro using this configuration, shouldn't I be able to print to the printer from my iPad, especially when all of the devices are on/using the same network?
Not necessarily. AirPrint uses a protocol separate from the communication protocol used for the Extreme's USB port. The HP printer may disable AirPrint when its USB port connected to a valid device, which is my reason for recommending you use it wirelessly.
    From AirPrint Basics:
AirPrint printers connected using Bluetooth or shared through a USB port of a Mac, PC, AirPort Base Station, or Time Capsule are not supported.
AirPrint printers connected by Ethernet are supported in OS X.

HP's Mac support has always been miserable though. I have been much happier since I abandoned HP and started buying Brother printers. They just work.

  • Deskjet 5440 stopped printing wirelessly from my MacBook Pro after upgrading to OS 10.8

My home printer is connected by cable to a desktop Mac (Power Mac G5).  I have always printed wirelessly to it from my MacBook Pro laptop through our home wireless network.  However, just recently I upgraded the operating system on my laptop to 10.8.2.  At the same time, I upgraded the HP driver software (from HP) that is supposed to allow the 5440 to work with the new OS.  Since then, I can print from my laptop if it is connected by cable to the printer, but not wirelessly.  When I attempt to print wirelessly, get a message that says the printer is not connected.

So you are using Printer Sharing on the PowerMac?  If so, on the PowerMac, go to System Preferences > Print & Fax and delete the printer with the '-' sign at the bottom of the printer list.  Re-add it with the '+' sign.
Make sure that Printer Sharing is checked and that in System Preferences > Sharing that Printer Sharing is also checked there.
Now, on the MacBook Pro, go to System Preferences > Print & Scan and click the '+' sign to add the printer.

Is there a cd that came with the printer?
If so, put in the cd and that will help you set it up.
If not, I think macs come with a program that helps you set up printers.
Also make sure that the printer is connected to the same network.
Make sure the printer is on.

  • I recently purchased an Onkyo stereo receiver with a wireless USB adapter, UWF-1, and want to stream audio from my MacBook Pro through my stereo system. The receiver tells me it is connected to my wireless LAN, but I cannot get music to play?

New to the community here, thanks for your patience.  I recently purchased an Onkyo TX-8050 Network Stereo Receiver with the UWF-1 USB adapter with the intent to stream audio from my MacBook Pro to the stereo. I have gone through the setup instructions for the adapter and the receiver gives me a message saying that it is connected to the password protected network, but that is as far as I can get.
I have gone into iTunes and clicked on the "Open Stream" option, but I just get a pop up box labeled "URL" that is empty. I have Home Sharing turned on and File Sharing turned on, but I am not seeing the receiver in my Finder window or as a iTunes device.
I would appreciate any and all advice and assistance.
    Thanks so much.
    Dan

So I have been searching the iStore for Airplay and I find lots of information about what it is, but nothing about how much it costs, how/where to buy it, etc.?
Fortunately, AirPlay does not cost anything as it is a streaming protocol used by Apple. Currently, the AirPort Express and Apple TV are AirPlay-ready. A number of other companies, like JBL, iHome, Denon and Klipsch are also rumored to be working on AirPlay versions of their products.
Your other option would be to get an AirPort Express and connect it to your Onkyo analog or optical digital audio input and stream from iTunes that way. I currently do this with my 10+ year old Harmon Kardon HT receiver.

  • Printing from a Macbook pro using ePrint.

Would like to print to an HP printer (ePrint) from my Macbook Pro.  I followed the instructions to download the software, started installation and received a message telling me to close the HP LaserJet Professional Utility.  Unfortunately, I cannot close this utility and now cannot stop the install.  HELP!

    Hi @vikimac
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I understand that you have encountered an error when trying to install a HP LaserJet printer driver onto your MacBook.
To better assist you, would you please provide some additional information?
What model and product number of HP LaserJet do you have?  How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
How is the printer currently connected (USB cable, ethernet, or wireless)? Please note that not all HP printers support all methods of connectivity.
What version of Mac OS X are you using? Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
In the meantime please try Force Quitting the installation and then please restart your MacBook.  That should allow you continue using your MacBook while we figure out what is occurring with the installation.

  • Printing from a MacBook Pro ???

Hi. Is there a way to print from a MacBook pro to a non-wireless compatible printer without having a direct usb connection??? Hope that makes sense. I heard something about using a Time Capsule or air port of some sort but have no idea what that means. New to Mac. Any help v. much appreciated

The information you posted is slightly incorrect, the Airport Express does not provide a USB port for a printer, the Extreme and the TC do.
    Oh
There is a new version of the Express which does appear to have a USB port, apologies.

  • Printing from a macbook pro to an HP psc 2355 printer

I need helping printing from a macbook pro to an hp psc 2355 printer. The printer is connected to a pc which runs Windows Vista. The pc is connected to a wireless router (so the PC has to be on to print). Hope this is simple!

You could start by resetting your printing system and then see if the computer sees the printer. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/14001.html
Is your wireless network protected by a password? Does it have a name?
I have a wireless HP AIO that I connect thru my wireless router. In other words the wireless router is the hub for the printer so the three notebooks and iTouch can print to it from anywhere in the area.

  • Hi I cant print from my macbook pro to my brother mfc j265w anymore. its saying its offline. Can anyone help?

Hi can anyone help me? I am having trouble printing from my macbook pro to my brother printer. It worked fine yesterday but now its dissapeared from my options to print.

I have tried plugging in an eternet (blue) cable from the printer to the wireless router, but i dont know how to make my macbook find the wireless printer!
If your printer is like my Canon printer, you'll have to do as Bob suggests - use the Setup on the LCD panel of your printer to set up wifi. Pretty easy with my Canon PIXMA MG8220...

  • Trying to connect a Belkin brand audio cable from my MacBook Pro to a Sony flatscreen TV. Cannot get any sound from the laptop out of the TV. What am I doing wrong?

I'm trying to connect a Belkin brand stereo audio cable from my MacBook Pro to a Sony flatscreen TV (Apple "genius" handed me the cable to purchase.)  I have tried all the ports in the back of the Sony, and tried the volume on both the cable and TV remotes. I cannot get sound out of the Sony from my MacBook Pro laptop. What am I doing wrong???

Downloaded your operating manual.  It appears that you need to connect the HDMI to HDMI 1 and the audio to the input socket just to the right of the VGA socket (i.e., between the VGA and the RF input connection).  The picture on page13 seems to be the clearest I could find:
Although it's not exactly clear I think they are talking about a standard 3.5 mm (1/8") stereo jack for the audio inpu as opposed to the more common RCA jacks used in the row just above that VGA input socket.
I haven't checked the manual as yet whether you need to set anything special with the controls other than input select.
Note, if that truly is a 3.5 mm stereo jack cables are very common.  In your case it would just be a cable with a 3.5 mm jack on each end.
    Update:
You will have to experiment with this but I think you will need to try pusing the input button to select either HDMI1 or PC (or Component?).  The manual is not clear on this (page 31).  Sometimes it just comes down to pushing buttons.
