The Print Spooler service must be active for print to be possible. In Start-> search - key the word->service select found and scroll down to Print Spooler.  Start it then try print again.

I cannot print from Windows Live Photo Gallery.   The printer is connected and has a signal.

  • Cannot print from Windows XP in Boot Camp

I rarely boot into Windows using Boot Camp. Usually will use Windows as a VM with VMware Fusion.
Now I am unable to print when in Windows/Boot Camp!
Yes, I can print just fine in Mac & in Windows as a VM.
My Boot Camp installation of WinXP is the same one I use as a VM.
I wonder if I changed some printer setting long ago & forgot. I am fairly certain I used to be able to print from Windows/Boot Camp.
    From: Windows XP/Control Panel/Printers & Faxes/My printer/properties/Ports
The last port/box in the list is checked, “TPVM: ThinPrint Print Port for VM”
I thought this may be incorrect for when I am in Windows using Boot Camp so tried changing it to LPT1 & then LPT2 & LPT3 & no real help. However, when using
TPVM: ThinPrint Print Port for VM, When I attempt to print, nothing happens & no print job appears in the print queue. (See what’s printing) If I change the port to LPT1,2 or 3, than the job DOES appear & under status says “error.”
I think I need to change some setting when I boot into Windows via Boot Camp vs. Start Windows as a VM.
    What is the problem?
    Thanks!

    Thanks but, no help.
I did set up printer sharing. Even though I only have one computer I still share the printer between the Mac & WIndows on the Mac in both VM & BC.
On Mac: System Preferences/Print & Fax, I do have the box checked “Share this printer on the network.”   Under Sharing Preferences I have checked; Printer sharing, Scanner sharing & file sharing. Users: Everyone Can Print.
If I remember correctly, b4 I had set up printer sharing, I was unable to print from Windows as VM. It would send the print job over to the Mac side & would not print. Then I used to go into the sys tray on Windows & change something re the printer (I forget what) but essentially telling Windows to use this printer or activate it. Then when finished -- If I forget to undo that change, it would not print on the Mac side. Setting the printer to share fixed that so, I can easily print Mac or Windows VM.  Again, I very rarely boot into Windows/BC but I would like to be able to print when I do.
It may be similar to use of the optical drive for DVDs/CDs. If I am in Windows/VM The Drive doesn't work until I go into some menu (Virtual Machine?) & enable the drive & then I must disable it to get it back working for Mac.
I am going to try DVD & CD sharing & see if that fixes it so I can use the drive in both Mac & Windows VM w/o having to bother to change settings back & forth, Then I will see if doing that somehow breaks the DVD/CD drive for Windows/BC.
Maybe I need to uncheck printer sharing in order for the printer to once again work on Windows/BC?
Or maybe since I enabled printer sharing, I must somehow tell my Mac or tell Windows that all 3 can share; Mac, Windows/VM & Windows BC?  I’m sure if I had 3 different computers I would need to somehow tell the system which computers are authorized to use my Network printer. Maybe since Windows BC is never online/running at the same time as the Mac, it was not recognized?

  • Cannot print from windows 8.1

I bought an HP Deskjet 1512, installed from the disk provided. The printer would not print via USB from my PC (Dell XPS 12 laptop). However 3 other computers with the same printers worked.  A MacBook pro installed from the disk and it worked. Other windows based computers were able to print.
I have used the Scan & Print doc:  I was able to run through that and found nothing and from that software I can print a test page.
When I go into Printer Properties, I cannot print a test page.
I have uninstalled all the HP software, downloaded all the latest drivers, did a reboot and re-installed all the drivers.
When I print from word it looks as if it prints and it goes to the print queue for a split second and dissapears as if transmitted to the printer and the printer does nothing.
The USB cable is less than 6'
The printer did its line up/test print
    Help!

    Hi @gotchabuccs,
I will happily help you get your Deskjet 1512 printer working with your PC running WIndows 8.1.  I understand you can print from all other computer, but despite your efforts you can not get this computer to print, other than test prints from either the Printer Properties, or the Print and Scan Doctor.

  • I cannot print from windows xp to a usb printer using airport extreme v5

I just bought the new airport Extreme, loaded Bonjour on a lenovo t400 running win xp sp3.
I can print with the printer plugged in to the computer but cannot print using the bonjour setup.   I can print from my Imac connected to the airport extreme (hard wired) and wirelessly from my macbook.
I have no issues connecting to the web through the Airport Extreme with the PC.
I have all the proper drivers installed.
the Printer in question is a lexmark P910 Series and the drivers loaded with bonjour.
Any thoughts on why I cannot print using the PC?
    Thanks

Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations. In addition, the  AirPort's USB port does not support the "advanced" printer functions, like scanning, copying or faxing, of multi-function printers.
To see if your printer is compatible, take a look at thisiFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility link. If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.
Also you can try this Apple Tech Support article to see if it will help: Printer troubleshooting for AirPort Base Stations and Time Capsule
Finally, check out this IBM support article to see if your printer is listed as having a Postscript or PCL3 interface. If it does, then it will most likely work with the AirPort's USB port. Printers that use the "HP LIDIL" interface must be connected to a computer directly and will not work.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 A910 - Cannot print from WIndows 7 Laptop

Got the printer yesteray and set it up on my wireless linksys network.  Attempted to load software onto 1 month old HP Windows 7 laptop. COuld not find the printer on the network, even though I was supplying the IP.  After much gnashing of teeth, playng with McAffee firewall, downloading most recent printer software, removing and reinstalling software.  I reset the printer on my network and lo and behold I had a different IP.  Laptop could then find the printer.
I can print a test page off of the printers webpage, but receive an error(can be seen in the printer properties page)when attempting to send ANY document to the printer from said laptop.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.  I do this stuff everyday, and was not expecting problems in setting this up,,,

  • Cannot print from Windows 7 to shared HP cp1160 on XP machine

I am adding a Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit laptop (HP ProBook 4510s) to my home network. There is already an XP machine there with a shared USB printer (HP cp1160) which is in regular use from XP and Vista laptops on the network. I've attempted to add it to the new Windows 7 machine (the wizard found it and downloaded the driver from the XP machine) and I then tried to print a test page. I can see the test page being spooled (when I See what's printing - though I notice that it is shown with owner Guest). But if I look at the print queue on the XP machine, nothing ever appears there. Eventually, the queue clears at the Windows 7 machine as well - but nothing comes out of the printer!
I have tried browsing to the printer, right-clicking and selecting Connect, but this makes no difference.
So then I tried connecting the printer locally, having first checked that the printer is listed as Windows 7 compatible - it is, and says that no extra drivers are required. Yet when I plug it into a USB port on my Win7 pc, it tries to install the USB printing support (successfully) and then says that it cannot find a driver for the HEWLETT-PACKARDcp1160 device (but I thought it didn't need one?)! The Event Log contains the following entry:
    EventData
       4545305
          5
          PnPDriverNotFound
          Not available
          x86
          USBPRINT\HEWLETT-PACKARDcp1164C70
I notice that the Properties of the hp cp1160 printer on the XP box has Additional Drivers accessible from the Sharing tab, and this lists additional drivers that users can download automatically when they connect. There is only one checked entry there: Intel, Windows 2000 or XP - is this adequate to allow Win7 clients to share the printer (note the x86 in the Event log entry above, though it isn't clear if that might be the driver-type being sought)?
Has anybody else encountered/resolved this problem? If so, how?!
    Will

With the aid of Windows Restore, I was able to step back to a time before I had attempted to connect to the HP cp1160 on my XP machine.  The following sequence must be followed to connect to the printer successfully:
Connect the printer directly to a USB port on the Windows 7 laptop. Windows 7 recognises the printer, connects to Windows Update and installs drivers for it – Print Test Page proves that this has worked.
Now disconnect the printer, and reconnect it to a USB port on the networked XP machine.
Select Start/Devices and Printers and click on the menu item “Add a printer” – allow the wizard to find the shared cp1160, or enter its share name (eg. \\my_XP_box\hp cp1160). The connection is made and no new drivers are downloaded from the XP machine. Bring up the Properties dialog for the printer and use Print Test Page to prove that a satisfactory connection has been made.
Note that if you don’t perform Step 1 above, then a set of drivers is downloaded from the XP machine (and saved in \windows\system32\spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\3) which doesn’t work! I imagine these must be the drivers for NT/XP/Vista.  There then appears to be no way to persuade Windows 7 to download the correct set.
Now I just need to find out how to get Windows 7 to use the duplex mode of the printer - it isn't shown as an Installable Option on the Printer Properties, Device Settings dialog.
    XP was never this difficult!

  • Cannot print from Windows or Mac OS

I have a Windows 7 PC and a MacBook Pro sharing printers via an Airport Express. Suddenly, jobs sent to the PSC 2175 would not print.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the software (Mac OS X and Bonjour) will not find the printer--it's not listed as an option.
I tried connecting the printer directly to the Windows 7 PC and "Plug and Play" did not work. I used the Wizard to install the printer to LPT1 and a test page would not print.
I'm using a USB cable, and it isn't the cable, because I swapped it with another printer and it works fine.

    Hi there @Gidget56!
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
I would be happy to provide some help regarding the  PSC 2175 communicating with the Mac and the Windows computer. The first thing I suggest is to plug the printer into the wall outlet directly if it is currently in a power surge protector or extension cord. This may sound silly but this will ensure the printer is getting full power and may eliminate any unnecessary troubleshooting. If the printer is no longer getting full power from the power surge or extension cord it may give false errors, have poor connection, paper feed issues and quality issues.
For the Windows computer I recommend removing the USB cable and running a Disk Cleanup.  Once the cleanup is finished restart the computer and try adding it again using the plug and play method.  If that does not work you can manually add the printer again from devices and printer.  When you manually add the printer you can choose an alternate driver for the printer to use.
Once you are in Devices and printers click Add Printer at the top of the window.  Choose "add a local printer" and use the same LPT1 port and click next.  On the left click HP and on the right click HP Deskjet 9800.  Click next and name the printer PSC 2175.  Finish adding the printer and try printing again.
To perform a Disk Cleanup click: Performing a Disk Cleanup
For the Mac computer make sure the printer is removed and run a repair disk permission.  A repair disk permissions is a utility built into the Mac designed to locate issues and repair them.  It will improve computer performance and may repair an error regarding the printer.  After the Repair Disk Permissions is complete add the printer again and try printing.
To perform a Repair Disk Permission click here: Performing a Repair Disk Permissions

  • HP LaserJet 4L printer cannot print from Windows 7

I currently bought a new computer and wanted to connect my old printer to my new computer.  I bought a new USB cable cord in order to connect my old printer to my new computer.  The model of my printer is HP LaserJet 4L.  However, after I put everything together, I tried to print the test page.  The computer popped up an error message saying that the document was unable to print.  Can someone help me solve this problem?
    Thanks,

CANNOT PRINTING FROM WINDOWS 7 TO MY PHOTOSMART c7180 ALL-IN-ONE (I CAN SEE MESSAGES IN QUEUE)?

    Hi,
I think you need to remove the queue. Please try:
hold down the Windows key and press R.
from the Run window, type services.msc and hit enter.
if the machine asks for Admin you have to accept this,
look down to the print spooler service, right click it and select properties
        click on the Stop button,
        browse to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\printers
delete the job inside this folder
        reboot the machine

  • Cannot print from hp DeskJet F4580

I have just bought my first MacBook with Mac OS X 10.6.4. Great computer.
However I cannot print from the wireless hp printer. I downloaded the latest driver from hp (maybe a fault) and started to install. Everything went as expected untill the setup process of the Printer Queue. Here I add the printer in order to create the Printer Queue, but when I click on the continue buttom I get this warning: Are you sure you want to continue without adding a Print Queue? I finished the installation with a congratulation sign.
Therefore there is no doubt, that the printer queue is missing. However I cannot found out to install the printer queue.
The printer is a socalled all-in-one printer. The scanner function is perfect with the wireless connection. But not the printer function.
I have also tried to connect via usb cabel. The result is the same. Scanner okay. Printer not okay.
The printer works perfect under Windows.
I hope somebody can help me. Thanks in advance.
    Erik

I'm having the same problem ! The wireless printing works using OS 10.5 on a G4 PowerBook but not OS 10.6 on an intel MacBook. I'm going to get in touch with HP as have used the latest drivers (as you have) - I've re-installed the HP software using Software Update for the latest version - still can't print. USB printing is also faulty so must be their drivers.
I'll let you know if I have any luck !

solved follow the steps from https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/CU … er_sharing
then go to localhost:631 and share the printer,
next go to the w7 machine and browse in the navigator archLinuxMachineIP:631 and copy the URL for the printer in printers tabs,
then add on w7 this url and select the driver.
you have to add a address reservation in your router to the machine with the printer,

  • No print from Windows 7 Desktop and Officejet Pro 8610

I purchased and installed a new Officejet Pro 8610 about a month ago.  My desktop computer is an HP Windows 7 unit.  The printer is setup wireless. Up until a few days ago, everything has run fine, but now I cannot print anything from my desktop computer.  Printing from my MacBook laptop works fine.  Printing from my iphone is fine.  Scanning to the desktop computer is fine.  Webprinting is fine.  The printer icon has a nice green checkmark in the devices folder. I have run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which claims to fix a port issue, but does not resolve the problem. I have use windows to troubleshoot the connection, which claims to make the printer available to my homegroup, but it does not resolve the problem. I tried changing the security settings for the spooler.  Did not resolve the problem. I cannot manually stop and star the spooler via dos prompt.  Says system 5 error, access denied. This is maddening.  I got rid of my old printer (which reliably printed from the desktop) so that I could have wireless printing capability, and now I have wireless capability but cannot print from my desktop.  Aaaaggghhhhhh!!!!

Hey , Thanks for getting back to me regarding this issue. At this time I am going to have you load an alternate Officejet driver on your product. Because the network connection is fine, and scanning is still fine I do not believe that the issue that you're experiencing is connectivity or software related. This alternate driver I am going to have you load will operate the exact same way as the Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer driver. Therefore, you will not lose any functionality by performing this fix. Please try the steps below.  Step 1: Clear Temp Files: Click on your Start menu
In the 'search programs and files' box located right above Start after you click on it, type %temp% and hit enter on your keyboard
When the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard. Everything in this folder will now highlight.
Select the 'delete' button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains temporary internet files. No actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting the Temp files. Should a Temp file still be used than you will automatically get the pop up to 'skip' that item.
Close the Temp folder once it is emptied
Right click the Recycling Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycling BinPlease proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Load Alternate Driver: Please click here to download the Officejet driver Once the download is complete you may get a prompt to Run the download. If you see the Run prompt, please allow it to Run.An extraction should now occur. Once the extraction is complete an installation window may pop open. Please close any install windows. You do not want to run an installation. Next, click on your Start menu. In the 'search programs and files' box type %temp% and hit enter on your keyboardWhen the Temp folder opens locate the 7z folder. Click on this folder to open it. It should include files that say OJ860At the top of this folder you will see a file path bar. It may show something like 'Computer- Local Disk C - Users - AppData - Local - Temp - 7z . . . ' Left click on the right hand side of this file path bar at the top. The file path should now highlight.Right click on the highlighted file path and select CopyClose the Temp folderClick on your Start menuSelect Devices and PrintersRight click on you HP Officejet 8610 Left click on Printer PropertiesLeft click on the Advanced tabLeft click on New DriverWhen the New Driver window opens please hit 'Next' until you see a list of Manufacturers and Printers Click on the 'Have Disk' button on the bottom rightWhen the 'Install from Disk' window opens, simply right click on the file path bar and 'Paste' in the file path we previously copied.Click OKWhen prompted choose the HP Officejet 8600 Printer and click 'Next' until the Add Driver window closesUnder Printer Properties select Apply, but don't hit OKSelect the General tabRename your printer back to HP Officejet Pro 8610 Hit OK Now that the alternate Officejet driver has been loaded, please test printing to confirm if the printing issue has been resolved.  Please let me know if the steps I've provided resolve your printing issue. Good luck!

Printing from my email account (Cox) is OK
    System Windows Vista

When my wife updated Firefox to version 7.0.1 she was no longer able to print items from the web such as coupons. She can print from her email (Cox) account.
    She is running Vista.
When I updated to Firefox 7.0.1, I did not have a problem. I am running Vista also.
Tried using the Firefox help page but no help so far.
I did notice that on her computer in the "Plugins" for Firefox that HP Smart Web Printing is now disabled and is not compatible with Firefox 7.0.1. She had no problems until she did the update.
