Cannot print locally on OfficeJet Pro 8610, but I can print via web service

Hello,
I just installed an OfficeJet Pro 8610 with the downloaded install. I found my printer on the local wireless network and it connected. I cannot print anything from my Windows 8 HP laptop! I print from Word (or anywhere) and I says completed, but nothing prints. I can even see the print spool and it looks like it goes through, but nothing prints. I even tried direct USB connection with the same problem.
I can however print from the web using the ePrint (email to the printer), but that is impractical.
This is a weird problem.
I had a friend connect using their computer and it worked (wirelessly) and I can even print from my iPhone locally.
This points to the HP laptop - I have removed the printer, reinstalled the drivers, ran all windows updates, reboted (computer and printer) multiple times and the same problem persists.
Please help - very frustrated and ready to return the stupid printer.
This question was solved.

IT WORKED!!!!!!!!
Thank you so very much! Now I can get back to work!

  • Times New Roman font will not print on HP Officejet Pro 8610

My new HP Officejet Pro 8610 will not print documents, spreadsheets, or printer test pages containing Times New Roman font (of any size).  It does not put a job in the print queue.  In Excel, I receive the "Generic_2_Q294552"  error message. My setup:  An HP Pavilion Elite computer NY809AV-ABA e9119t; running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1; HP Laserjet 5L, HP PCS 1310, and HP D4360 all print the font just fine. My new printer:  HP Officejet Pro 8610, firmware revision FDP1CN1502AR, connected via USB cable.  [Also connected via ethernet cable to cable modem.] What I have done so far to troubleshoot the last 3 days:  Reinstalled the printer (3 times), the most recent today with an installer issued today; rebooted the printer; rebooted the computer after each significant change; updated the firmware in the printer; tried two different USB cables; tried printing the fonts in Microsoft Word 7, Microsoft Excel 7, and directly from the font file; reinstalled the Times New Roman fonts from backup; visited the forums and tried all of the solutions I could for any similar problem; tried the winprint, hpzppw71, and hpzpplhn print processors with both RAW and NT EMF 1.008 data types; found and repaired all problems I could find with any hardware and software, as well as updating all software to the latest version.

Thanks for trying to help.  I am happy to report my experiments and results. Microsoft Word:I open a blank document.  Type something in.  Select the entire text.  Change the font.  When I change to some fonts (those listed on my DOES print) the document shows up in the print queue and prints.  When I change to the other fonts (those listed as DOES NOT print) nothing happens.  It just sits there.  No messages.  No crash.  Nothing in the print queue.  I can walk away for hours (as I have done) and come back and nothing has happened.  When I change back to a DOES print font it prints.  Change it back to a DOES NOT print font and it doesn't.  Repeatable.  Consistent.  No configuration changes or installs have changed it. Microsoft Excel:I open a black spreadsheet.  Type something in.  Highlight the entire text.  Change the font.  When I change to a DOES print font it prints.  When I change to a DOES NOT print font I get this: "Microsoft Office Excel    Your file could not be printed due to an error on HP Officejet Pro 861   on 0.  There are several possible reasons:. If you use a network for printing, there may be a problem with the network connection or the printer driver.. There may be loose cables or a bad connection between your computer and printer. For more information about troubleshooting printing problems, chick Help.   Show Help >>" when I click the Show Help >> button I get: "This error can be caused by:
General problems: The printer may be unavailable, the network may be down, the communication port to the printer may be corrupt or unavailable, a hardware error at the computer may have occurred (out of paper, paper jam, out of ink, out of toner, etc), and a language setting may need to be reset from the Regional Options control panel.
Local problems: There are several reasons for a local printer (a printer that is attached directly to your computer) to fail:
Check to make sure the printer has paper, ink, and/or toner and check the cables.
If the printer appears to be functional and a printer test by the printer itself indicates the printer is working properly, then check the cables, printer port from the computer, and configuration of the printer at the computer.
Occasionally, an application can develop a conflict with the printer driver and cause a memory leak which corrupts the printer port. If all else fails, restart the computer, recycle the power to the printer, and try printing again.
Occasionally it is even necessary to delete the printer driver and reinstall the latest version of the printer driver.
Network problems: There are various reasons for a network printer to be inaccessible: the name may have changed, it may be out of paper, out of ink, out of toner, down for maintenance, the network could be down, or a printer job previous to yours has stalled due to incorrect settings on the user's computer who last submitted a print job, or even your printer driver cannot communicate correctly with the printer. Network related printer failures are usually best handled by your local technical support.
Memory problemsn occasion, large print jobs with complex graphics or consisting of several hundred pages, which can consume large quantities of memory on the printer, may cause a problem (especially if there was an over run of memory at the printer). You may want to try reducing the amount of complex graphics in your print job, or break the print job up into smaller segments and see if that corrects your problem. It is not uncommon for a very complex graphic to have a defect or error which prevents it from printing on any printer. It may be necessary to load new or revised graphic converters or drivers in order to alleviate a problem of this type.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 All-in-One Printing Preference does not have Print Last Page First option

HP Officejet Pro 8610 All-in-One printer:  Printing Preference missing Print Last Page First option.  Print lots of multipage documents.  Spending enormous amount of time resorting pages.
Prior to this printer?  .... grab printed stack -  staple  -  DONE!
Now?   Have to resort every document!
Anyone out there have a solution?

Reply to mkjohnson42. It doesn't matter what application I'm in. The option is NOT there. Just to confirm, I started from Word 2010, Excel 2010, a web page using Internet Explorer, Foxfire and Chrome. Plus, I did the old stand-by of going to Printers and Devices>Preferences. Under Preferences I have the choice to print on both sides of paper but NO Print Last Page First. I REALLY did check ALL of this before resorting to the Community. So, I really don't understand your question. Sorry.

  • Printing watermarks on Officejet Pro 8610

I did have an HP Officejet 4632 that had the capabilities of printing a watermark through the printer settings on .pdf documents. Since I upgraded to an HP Officejet Pro 8610, that option is no longer available. A watermark cannot be added to a .pdf document without purchasing the upgraded Adobe Acrobat software for $12.99 per month, which I will not do. I need this watermark for .pdf tax return documents created from my tax softward program. Any ideas without printing the watermark on plain paper before printing the document?

    Hi,
Use an alternative driver which support a such as a workaround:
Under Devices and Printers right click the 8610 icon and select Printer Properties. from the Ports tab take a note of the checked port of the driver and close this dialog (you will need it later).
Click on Add Printer, click on "The printer that I want isn't listed".
Select a Local Port and press on Next.
Select the same port as used by the driver and click on Next.
Select HP from the Manufecturer list, select the HP Deskjet 6940 / 6980 and follow the Wizard to add the printer.
Within the Effects tab you may add a watermark.

  • Cyan and yellow are not printing on HP officejet pro 8500 all-in-one printer A909

I have an Officejet Pro All-in-One 8500 A909a printer, using OS X operating system.  Cyan and yellow are not printing. I've ran the Print Quality Diagnostics Page and they do not show up there or on the align page. My ink levels are good.
Can you help me find and fix the problem?
    Thanks

    Hi DavidM2,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having issues with the Cyan and the Yellow ink cartridges as well.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
If you are still having issues then try to replace the cartridges.
Let me know how you make out and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
    Cheers,

  • Cannot print any internet sites from Firefox but I can print from IE so I guess I will be back to using IE

I have been using Firefox for a long time and always update; however yesterday I noticed when I was on Amazon I could not print out confirmation. Went to various other sites, my bank, smart computing magazine, etc. and could not print. Got a message that said: Out of Paper, put paper in photo tray. I then went to IE and was able to print out anything I wanted. I always liked Firefox but I believe I have to change since I can't find an answer to my problem. Obviously my printer works if I can print when I use the IE browser. I notice other people have this problem also. I spend a lot of time searching on the internet.

Try the '''''reset''''' described here: <br />

  • HT2452 I am unable to print my photos ??? but i can print a "test" page without problems.

I am having problems trying to print photos on my IMAC, I can print a "test page" from printer without any problems and have been able to print pages off without problems??
when I try to print a photos my photo page comes out blank

This could be an issue with the size of the image you are printing and the printers available memory. Although your printer may support up to 64mb or more of data, you may be getting a size error.
This has occurred with many of the printers at the facility I work at and the only work around we have figured out thus far is to resize the document. This does reduce the quality of the image.
Quick question. Are you printing directly to the printer through its IP or are you printing through a print server?

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 all in one printer will not print a PDF or JPG in color

I am using mac osx 10.6
I can make copies in color. Print word documents with color and pretty much everything else but print in color any PDF or JPG. I have tried various printer configurations. I have tried from acrobat, illustrator, and photoshop. With photoshop i even tried the option of letting photoshop control the color settings. I hae tried multiple differnt files all with the same results. All are color files. I do not know what to do. I re-installed the drivers for the printer as well. I do not get any errors and the ink levels are fine. 3/4s full in fact of every color

    Hello,
Please try the below mentioned steps..
    Open the PDF file,
Click File > Print , in the dialog box, uncheck "Print in grayscale ( black and white )"
    Now click Print button

  • Firefox cannot play tutorials at Mac Pro Video, but Safari can

For 3 months I could watch tutorials at Mac Pro Video in Firefox, but now they do not play, they just briefly flash on then go to a blank white screen. When I switch to Safari the videos do play normally.
My Firefox plugin check gives erroneous versions for Shockwave Director and Java Applet. I updated both but the plugin check says I still have the older version

I wasn't going to use it anymore until I got a new one, but I need to get video editing done in the meantime, so I have been keeping the card cool and only working on the computer for short amounts of time.  Is this smart to do?
Smart or not isn't the question, it's a matter of need.
Prolonged or repeated overheating will kill the card.
Also why would the video card fan break like that?
Abuse, a freak accident, bad plastic, etc.
What model card is it? Some cards have a history for specific ills, like the Radeon X1900, Geforce 7300 GT, Radeon 2600, Geforce 8800........
And finally could you suggest another video card to purchase.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 no longer can print #10 envelopes without mangling them

I've had this printer for a year or two. It used to print #10 envelopes without a problem. Recently it has started mangling envelopes, at first just once in a while, by now it mangles every envelope. These are envelopes that meet all the requirements (no window, etc.). What's the problem and how do I fix it?

    Hi @TaglineJim,
I see by your post that the envelopes are getting mangled. I can help you with this.
Here are a couple of documents that should be helpful in resolving this issue.
Printer Paper Tears, Wrinkles, or is Damaged while Printing from the All-in-One.
A 'Paper Jam' Message Displays on the Printer.
Usually cleaning the rollers will help with this issue.
I would check the position and clean the pick up roller also. Skip to Solution four: Clean the paper rollers.
An 'Out of Paper' or 'Pick Motor Stalled' Message Displays, and the Printer Does Not Pick Up or Feed... Check the paper settings in the print driver to make sure they match, in Solution five: Adjust the paper settings in the print driver.
Do you have the same issue with other types of paper?
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a nice day!

  • HP Officejet pro 8610, wanting to print transparency

I have the HP Officejet Pro 8610 all in one printer, and want to attempt home screen printing some shirts for my 9 year old's hockey team. My friend lent me her YuDu home screen printing machine. I am needing to print the design on a transparency sheet. I have the transparency sheets here, but I am not seeing that option anywhere. I am very new to computers, and any help would be sincerely appreciated. Thank You

    Hi there,
Yes, I believe you can - BUT, you need to make sure your transparencies are INKJET transparencies.  I see from a search online that these are widely available....at Staples, Amazon, etc.
You should just be able to load the transparency in the tray (I would only load one at a time) and then when you go to print, you would selecting Printing Preferences (this can be different, depending on what software you are using) and then on the Paper/Quality tab, select Letter as the Paper Size (assuming they are standard letter-size transparencies) and then 'Transparency Film' as the Media Type.
I found this YouTube video that might be helpful - but please note that this is not created or sanctioned by HP.  Just a video I came across while looking for more information.
    Hope that helps!
    Thanks!
    Tara

    I am running 64bit Windows 8.1
I can print from Web via email
I can print using the HP AiO Remote app in windows. This doesnt have full functionality and is also inconvenient if I am working on documents and I want to print.
    I have tried the following:
    - Uninstalling and reinstalling from CD provided with printer
    - Using the HP printer troubleshooter assistant, no success
    - Downloading the software direct from HP website
    - Updating the firmware using OJP8610_R1416A.exe
-Changing the port to the network port (in this case it is 192.168.0.200, it responds to a ping, also set the printer to have a static ip)
This is the error message that i get when i try to print a test page when i choose printer properties in the control panel

Just bought the following printer: Officejet Pro 8610. Installed it with the cd. Installation on the printer goes well, connected to network, strong reception. 1) Cannot make a wireless connection from laptop to printer. Followed all the steps, uninstalled and reinstalled with software from hp site 7 hours worth. • No print from Windows 7 Desktop and Officejet Pro 8610

I purchased and installed a new Officejet Pro 8610 about a month ago.  My desktop computer is an HP Windows 7 unit.  The printer is setup wireless. Up until a few days ago, everything has run fine, but now I cannot print anything from my desktop computer.  Printing from my MacBook laptop works fine.  Printing from my iphone is fine.  Scanning to the desktop computer is fine.  Webprinting is fine.  The printer icon has a nice green checkmark in the devices folder. I have run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which claims to fix a port issue, but does not resolve the problem. I have use windows to troubleshoot the connection, which claims to make the printer available to my homegroup, but it does not resolve the problem. I tried changing the security settings for the spooler.  Did not resolve the problem. I cannot manually stop and star the spooler via dos prompt.  Says system 5 error, access denied. This is maddening.  I got rid of my old printer (which reliably printed from the desktop) so that I could have wireless printing capability, and now I have wireless capability but cannot print from my desktop.  Aaaaggghhhhhh!!!!

Hey , Thanks for getting back to me regarding this issue. At this time I am going to have you load an alternate Officejet driver on your product. Because the network connection is fine, and scanning is still fine I do not believe that the issue that you're experiencing is connectivity or software related. This alternate driver I am going to have you load will operate the exact same way as the Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer driver. Therefore, you will not lose any functionality by performing this fix. Please try the steps below.  Step 1: Clear Temp Files: Click on your Start menu
In the 'search programs and files' box located right above Start after you click on it, type %temp% and hit enter on your keyboard
When the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard. Everything in this folder will now highlight.
Select the 'delete' button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains temporary internet files. No actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting the Temp files. Should a Temp file still be used than you will automatically get the pop up to 'skip' that item.
Close the Temp folder once it is emptied
Right click the Recycling Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycling BinPlease proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Load Alternate Driver: Please click here to download the Officejet driver Once the download is complete you may get a prompt to Run the download. If you see the Run prompt, please allow it to Run.An extraction should now occur. Once the extraction is complete an installation window may pop open. Please close any install windows. You do not want to run an installation. Next, click on your Start menu. In the 'search programs and files' box type %temp% and hit enter on your keyboardWhen the Temp folder opens locate the 7z folder. Click on this folder to open it. It should include files that say OJ860At the top of this folder you will see a file path bar. It may show something like 'Computer- Local Disk C - Users - AppData - Local - Temp - 7z . . . ' Left click on the right hand side of this file path bar at the top. The file path should now highlight.Right click on the highlighted file path and select CopyClose the Temp folderClick on your Start menuSelect Devices and PrintersRight click on you HP Officejet 8610 Left click on Printer PropertiesLeft click on the Advanced tabLeft click on New DriverWhen the New Driver window opens please hit 'Next' until you see a list of Manufacturers and Printers Click on the 'Have Disk' button on the bottom rightWhen the 'Install from Disk' window opens, simply right click on the file path bar and 'Paste' in the file path we previously copied.Click OKWhen prompted choose the HP Officejet 8600 Printer and click 'Next' until the Add Driver window closesUnder Printer Properties select Apply, but don't hit OKSelect the General tabRename your printer back to HP Officejet Pro 8610 Hit OK Now that the alternate Officejet driver has been loaded, please test printing to confirm if the printing issue has been resolved.  Please let me know if the steps I've provided resolve your printing issue.
