Cannot print to 8620 via wireless option on my network

I have 3 computers with Windows 7.   The printer works fine as a USB connnected printer.
the wireless set up works fine and gets an IP address from my wireless router (an old LinkSys, wireless G).
I cannot ping the printer.   It does not appear in the ARP table.   I try to set up a wireless connection, but the software cannot find the printer.
Oddly enough, when I search for networks, I found that the printer was broadcasting as it's own wireless gateway.  I can connect to it, but it has no internet connection.  When I try to add a new printer, the software finds the printer and lets me add it.  I can then print wirelessly to it.   the IP address of this printer is different than what the HP software found when I did wireless set up, on a totally different subnet.
I doubt this is the way it is supposed to work, that you have to drop off of your own network to print to the Printers network.
Also, you can browse to the new IP address and configure everything.
Any suggestions on what to look for.   do I need to change something in my router?

Running the diagnostics at http://www.hp.com/go/tools may help resolve the issue.  My similar Officejet 8600 Plus is configured on the wireless network here.  It does offer a direct connection (with a differetn subnet), but I do not connect to that, I simply use the printer as a netwerk printer.  The diagnostics above should straighten things out.

  • Cannot print from laptop via NIC while wireless is enabled

I use my laptop wirelessly in my office downstairs and have always printed via LPT1 port.  My new laptop does not have a parallel port so I connected to my printer via network cable.  I can ping and print only when the wireless card is disabled.  Therefore cannot print anything while on the internet.  The laptop is assigned an IP address from wireless G router automaticly in the 192 range.  I assigned the network card and printer to a static address also in the 192 range.  Can someone please help me with my configuration oversight?
    Thanks in advance.
    kg

Your static LAN IP addresses have been set incorrectly.  This is likely the cause for your problems.
With Linksys routers, a fixed LAN IP addresses must be assigned in the device that is using the address.  So you need to enter the fixed address in the printer and in the NIC, not in the router.
When using a Linksys router, any fixed LAN IP address must be outside the DHCP server range (typically 192.168.1.100 thru 192.168.1.149), and it cannot end in  0, 1, or 255.
Therefore any fixed LAN IP address would need to be in the range of
    192.168.1.2       thru 192.168.1.99  or
    192.168.1.150  thru  192.168.1.254
assuming you have not changed the default DHCP server range.
Also, although your printer may need a fixed LAN IP address, it is unlikely that your computers need fixed addresses.  Unless you have a specific need for a fixed LAN IP address for you computers, it is best to let them get an address from the router's DHCP server.

  • My 3050 J610 printer goes into standby or sleep mode and then I cannot print docs to it wirelessly

Everytime I do not print something for a few hours, my printer goes into standby or sleep mode.  When it does this, it cannot be used to print from my laptop or android to it.  Is there a way to set this up so that it doesn't "go to sleep" and it is always available to me to print with.  I like the printer, but it seems kind of off that you cannot print on it wirelessly and it is considered a WIRELESS printer.  That's the only reason I bought it and now I can't even use it without walking downstairs and turning the printer back on again.  If I wanted to do that every time I would just print from my main computer!
    Thanks,
    Ashley

Ok, I know this thread is a little old, but it would not allow me to start a new one, since I am new. I am having the same issues with my 3050 J610 as everyone else. It makes you think there is a wireless connection problem, but that is not the case. The printer goes into a standby mode and there is no way to bring it out of it, unless you cycle the printer. The panel buttons will still work, you just lose the ability to print wirelessly.
I have had my 3050 J610 in two different rooms, master bedroom and basement office. Both areas work well when it is connected and awake. After a while of inactivity, it goes into standby mode and cannot print wirelessly. Here are steps I have taken so far:
When the printer goes into standby and will not print wirelessly, I have check to make sure there is still a connection between the router and the printer - There is
I have set a static Id for the printer at .210
Cycling the printer brings the connection back instantly.
The front panel buttons work just fine when it does not have connectivity
In the basement, the machine has excellent signal and connection.
I have checked the recommendations in this thread, and like others, there are no options under the advanced tab of the maintenance page. The problem is a standby or sleep issue. When this arises, it has connection to the router, but the wireless computer does not have connection to the machine. I know when it was in the bedroom, the light would blink 3 or 4 times now and then throughout the night. We need a way to turn off the standby, or bring the machine out of standby mode. It is not an issue of the router, channel, interference, or software. It is the sole issue of standby or sleep modes. I have been pulling my hair out for almost two years over this issue. I swore I would not buy another HP product after the problems I had with a printer and laptop. But I thought I would give HP another chance.

  • Cannot print remotely with new Wireless HP Officejet 4630

My old HP printer died last week, which is okay because I was in need of a new one. I chose the HP Officejet 4630 because it had the wireless printing option and was a 4-in-1. I work from home and I remote in to my office computer in another location. With my old hp printer, I was able to print but was connected with a USB cable. With this new wireless printer I cannot print from my remote location. I have tried a few times, restarted the computer and printer but it still does not print. I am able to choose my printer when I am logged into my work computer remotely. This is a big issue as I need to print reports at home from my computer at work. I am using Windows 7  and I've printed the wireless network test results which came back A-OK. Has anyone else had this issue and figured out how to print? When I look at the printer queue there is nothing...
    Please Help!
    Thanks

I just want to add that I am able to print wirelessly from my computer but not when I am remoting in to my work computer.

  • Not able to print full pages via wireless

    Hello,
I am looking for some assistance to troubleshoot an issue I am having printing from a computer using wireless to my wireless connected HP Officejet 4632.
When I open a .pdf, for example, on a PC that is hardwired into my router, I can print the entire document with no issues.  However, when connected via wireless to my network from another PC (which has a full signal strength by the way), I get partial pages and/or missing pages in the print job.
Are there any troubleshooting steps you might recommend?
    Thank you,
     - Steve

    Hi Steve,
What operating syste, you are using on this PC?
Try following the steps below and check if that may help:
    - Open the HP software by clicking the HP Officejet 4630 icon within the Desktop or the Start Menu, then click the Printer Home Page (EWS) link.
    - Click the Network tab.
    - Depending on your printer model click on Networking and then on Network Address (IP) or click on IPv4 within the active network connection type.
    - Click on Manual IP , and then click Suggest a Manual IP Address . A manual IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway displays.
*Be sure to take a note of the IP address and Confirm the changes, then close the EWS page.
    - Click the HP Officejet 4630 icon within the Desktop or the Start Menu and click the Utilities tab, then click on Update IP Address.
    - Type the manually configured IP address, click on Save and confirm.
    - Open the control panel and go to Devices and Printers.
    - Right click the HP Officejet 4630 icon and select Printer Properties.
    - Open the Ports tab.
    - Click the Add Port button, select Standard TCP/IP and click on New Port.
    - Follow the steps by typing the manually configured IP address and confirm the changes.
Now try printing and check if the issue may been resolved.

  • Homehub 3 cannot get to Internet via Wireless

Just got BT Infinity today and everyting is great so long as I am attached via an ethernet cable.
Connecting my laptop via Wireless is frustrating. To try and diagnose this problem I have switched encryption off.The hub is set to all its defaults for IP Address ranges etc.
On the laptop I am using Windows XP SP3 and am letting Windows do the Wireless configuration.
The best I get is that it claims to be connected. IPCONFIG shows it has a valid IP address, correct subnet mask, correct DNS, and Default gateway. I check this with my other PC which is hard-wired to the router - and yes - it appears in the device list within the hub manager. So everything looks OK. EXCEPT, when I actually try to open a web page - bbc.co.uk for example in either Firefox or IE, it just sits there saying 'connecting to www.bbc.co...' or sometimes 'waiting for www.bbc.co.....'. I have also disabled the softwrae firewalls I had installed and anti-virus. So, I'm beginning to think I've got a dodgy router.
Has anyone seen this problem before? ie everything looks OK and connected, but you can't actually browse the web.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I had connectivity problems with my XP sp3... The BT Desk software would come up with not connected then I had to go thru identifying the picture of the router I was using etc... eventually it would connect.
I removed the software and it's fine now.
The PC internal wireless card wouldn't work... PC world gave money back no probs.
The reason I knew it was the card that I had just bought was the 4 other Laptops/netbook/tablet connected all ok.
So for convenience I Installed the D-Link Dwa140 onto a spare USB port on the PC, and it was up and running in minutes.
As I say I was lucky knowing my router was ok by the fact the other machines worked.
Is there a chance you could ask your mates to come over with Netbook/laptop and try to connect to your wireless signal?
It'll help get evidence if you have to request a replacement HH3.
Edit I have posted in this thread http://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Infinity/My-wife-s-netbook-is-connected-to-infinity-but-wont-load-any/...
I mention it in case you want to have a look.... but I expect you've tried everything.... Even I notice down to removing encryption.

  • HP Officejet Pro cannot install on laptop via wireless

Trying to install a new HP8600 Pro Plus.  I have configured the wireless on the printer, and it is connected to my wireless network, has an IP address and good signal strength.  When I try to add this printer on my laptop (I have now tried several laptops), it cannot find it.
I have uninstalled the driver software, and downloaded from the HP site - reinstalled, etc.  I have power cycled the printer itself.
I see a lot of posts about this same problem, but not seeing any good answers.

I worked with HP tech support today.  We ended up having to change the Channel on my router from 1 to 11.  Once we did that, I was able to connect to the printer.  Once this was done, I was also able to connect from my iPohone via AirPrint.

  • Connecting network Printer to laptops via wireless

My daughter received a new Toshiba laptop for Christmas to help with her school work and I have been working to get it setup. I have nearly everything working fine including a network connection for internet through my network router, but I am having difficulty  with connecting the laptop to my network printer. I have a Belkin F7D3302 v1 wireless router that serves as my network router and this Belkin router is connected via an ethernet cable to my desktop and the router is also connected wirelessly to my Alienware laptop (both run Windows 7) - I have full connectivity with both of these computers and no printing issues - I also have an older Sont Vaio laptop that runs Windows XP SP3 - it is also connected wirelessly to the network and I can print from this computer without any problem. I went into my daughter's computer to install the printer and although it found the printer the TEST PAGE would not print and the computer shows the printer as being offline. I did do a look at the Network Config on the printer and it shows the IP address as all zeros which I found odd, but my Alienware and Sony are conected so I should be able to get my daughters laptop to connect. Any help would be appreciated to get my daughters laptop connected to the printer

I have rebooted the laptop multiple times while using HP Scan and Print doctor, but to no avail. I am baffled largely because the ISP service connected between the Belkin router and the laptop without any difficulties and although when I click on Add Printer it shows the network printer it shows the status as offline continuously - when i try to start the HP software direct on the laptop (I installed the original HP software to the laptop) it says it cannot start because the printer has not finished installing. I am guessing it is either a Win 8.1 issue of some sort.

  • Cannot print yahoo mail on wireless printer.

I have HP wireless printer. It prints out my documents, etc but will not print my yahoo mail
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

The printer's IP address likely changed when you changed you router (even if the SSID and password are the same).
From the remote computers do this:
    1. Click "Start" button --> Printers and Faxes.
    2. Choose the printer and click "Delete printer"
    3. Under Printer Tasks, click "Add a Printer" and follow the prompts to re-add the printer (you likely did this during the original setup).

check if you have your ip address comfigured manually on the wireless laptop..
    use your wireless computer
go to control panel and go to network connections
right-click on the wireless network connection icon and click properties..
look for internet protocol(tcp/ip) - highlight that and click on the properties button
set it to obtain IP address automatically and obtain DNS servers automatically..

  • I can't get my HP Officejet 4620 printer hooked up via wireless connection

I have tried every suggestion given to me . I went through the entire troubleshooting process . I also did the connection test , which the printer passed . So why is it passing the connection test , but not really connected ? I have turned off firewall , downloaded hp suggested software , it just doesn't make sense . I even took it back to store and traded it in for a new one. I did that because I paid for online support , and they couldn't fix the problem . Now this one is doing the same thing as the one I took back ! Does anyone have any suggestions ? I have a large  assignment due at college on tuesday and I need to get started !

What router?  What operating system?  What antivirus (if any)?

  • Installed ePrint on Officejet 6700, now cannot print wirelessly

    Greetings,
We have beenprinting wirelessly with our Officejet 6700 for quite some time. This morning the HP Connect/ePrint feature was installed...now we cannot print to the computer wirelessly. I have turned off the ePrint functionality on the printer, shut down and restarted...still not able to print.
Looking for suggestions, or a way to delete the eprint functionality.
    Much obliged...

    Hello Bugaloo911,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
Sorry to hear about the Officejet 6700 now being unable to wirelessly since you setup the ePrint portion of the printer. What is the Operating System installed on the computer, Windows or Mac? Also, what happens when you try to print? For example, is there an error or message of any kind on the computer?
Setting up ePrint should not have made any changes to the printers ability to wirelessly print via a computer connection. Does the printer still show a connection to the network? If you are not sure, touch the wireless icon from the printer home screen and then Print Wireless Test Report. If there is no connection, run the Wireless Setup Wizard.
Try running the HP Print and Scan Dr on the computer, if using a Windows computer.
Once the printer is working again on the computer we can look into re-setting up ePrint for you.
