Cannot Print to a Networked Epson C900

Hi all, apologies for the lengthy post but I would be over the moon with any light you may be able to shed on this problem.
I have an Epson C900 connected to a port on my router with a fixed IP address of 192.168.1.6 but, since upgrading to Leopard, I am unable to successfully add, configure or print from my mac.
Using the driver supplied on the DVD, the printer does not appear in 'More Printers' and if I select the print driver manually, the printer is added but it does not print. Consumable levels do display if I click on utility in the print queue but not if I click 'suppy levels' (nothing unusual there).
If I connect the printer via USB, it is recognised correctly and prints although any changes to printer settings seem to take an eternity. Unfortunately, the USB option is not viable as another computer connects in this way. 4 other computers are network connected, and all can print with no problems.
I still have a second hard disk loaded with OS X 10.4.11 and, if I boot from this, I can print just fine.
I have also tried the latest driver from epson (dated September and pre leopard) but I have no idea where the installer places the driver as it certainly doesn't appear in the PPD folder.
Using the CUPS tool, I can add the printer, display and modify all settings but cannot print a test page. All I get is "/usr/libexec/cups/backend/http failed" and, certainly, no data is sent to the printer.
Incidentally, the network address of the printer is "http://192.168.1.6:631/EPSONIPPrinter"
Any clues, am I doing something wrong or do I just have to wait for Epson to write a new driver?
Thanks in advance,
Confused of Suffolk

Well, thanks for all the help guys. The response was amazing - not.
Anyway, problem is resolved and I'll post the answer here in case it helps some future poor user.
Did another clean install, erase and install, without any print drivers apart from the HP drivers for my HP all in one that always worked.
Installed the driver from Epson dated November 2006.
Restarted machine.
Went to System Preferences/Printers and Faxes.
Clicked on + to add printer.
Click on IP
Choose Internet Printing Protocol from drop down menu.
Type in IP address ie. 192.168.1.6 or whatever yours is.
Let it search until it comes up with the bright idea of Generic Postscript Printer.
Click on More Printers.
Select Epson TCP/IP from the drop down menu.
Wait.
Lo and behold, 192.168.1.6(IP) is discovered.
Click on it and then click on Add.
Job Done.
Had done this a multitude of times but the printer never appeared. Must have been because of the presence of the Apple supplied stuff.

  • Cannot print to a network printer

I have 3 imacs and 1 PC printing to this imac, that has a laser printer attached via usb. Just recently the other imacs and pc cannot print, everything goes into the que on hold. I have made sure that no settings have changed, and sharing is turned on, anyone can print highlighted. I can print to the laser from this imac OK, just others on the network cannot.
    Any ideas Thanks

Go to Dock/printer. celect the printer with the mouse and right click, you will get a drop down menu. Select reset your printer, and choose yes. You will have to add your printer again, and turn on printer sharing again. Worked for me

  • Cannot Print to a Networked Canon GP200E Printer

I have just connected my Canon GP200E (with a D1/E1 Network Card) to a new network. I have assigned it an IP 192.168.2.253, added the correct Gateway IP address.
I have tried to print from my Mac OSX10.3 computer, but cannot. I have tried using IP Printing, Windows Printing, etc.
I have downloaded and installed the latest printer driver as well.
I have connected a Windows XP computer to the same network and it can print OK.
What would I be doing wrong?
I used to be able to print by connecting the network cable directly to the Mac, but I cannot do this anymore because I need to have the Mac on the network.
    Thanks,
    Roy

You may want to take a look at this page
    http://www.digitalissues.co.uk/html/hardware/charts/names.html
Sometimes the que name can prevent lpr printing from working.
There are sniffers listed that a windows box can use to find out the que name or put in something like print_gp200e

  • Cannot print file to network drive.

Hello...I've searched the forum and have not seen this specific question.  My company recently upgraded to Windows 7 and we use Acrobat X.  When we print from something such as Outlook, Word, notepad, etc., then select Adobe PDF as the printer...then select the location to print to as a network drive, it always fails.  The printer icon has a yellow sign with an exclamation point, and when you open the printer properties, it just says "Error printing".  If you select a local drive, such as C:\temp, it works fine.  It's not a permission issue, because I have full admin rights, and it still fails.  We have multiple users trying to do this, and it's the same for everyone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This part is not working when you choose a location other than a local disk.
opening document to print > selecting adobe pdf printer > saving file to network drive > print
The job sits in the print queue, stating an error and I not been able to determine what the error is.
What I did just find out that worked is using the Acrobat Office addin "Create PDF".  I am running office 2007.

  • Cannot Print to HP Network Printer

I'm trying to print from my MacBook to my HP LaserJet 4000N printer which is connected to a 2wire wireless router. I had no issues setting the printer up with my Windows computers using the HP Install Network Printer Wizard, but the wizard doesn't work with Mac OS. So I did a little digging and found the printer IP Address by printing out the Configuration Page, but inputting that IP Address into the add printer utility using LPD, IPP, or HP Jetdirect yields no results. I've also tried using the Gutenprint drivers for my printer with all combinations with no results. I never expected that adding a network printer for Macs would be more difficult than Windows! Anyone have any ideas or experience getting an HP Network printer to work?

Okay, that's unusual. Didn't think this model would use a proprietary language?
Anyway, I found a driver on the HP site for this model for OS X. Here's the link:

    please advise.  thank you....

I'm having the same problem with my HP Z3100 in Windows 7 64-bit
The kludgy workaround is to choose a different printer from the "Printer" drop down list at the top, then re-choose the printer you wanted in the first place.
But at least you don't have to quit Photoshop to start printing.
(Careful - your choices in color management may change to defaults when you re-choose your printer.)

  • I cannot print wirelessly to an Epson 810 from a MacBook Pro (2010). Stopped working with version 4 and has not worked since. Prints fine to Safari, Chrome, and all other programs. Resetting didn't help.

Prints fine with other browsers and programs. Works with my wife's MacBook Pro.

Took it to Apple Genius, they told me it was my memory (incompatible)
Believe the first one.  No one RAM test will reliably indicate RAM is bad.   Once indicated, it has to be replaced.
You have to get RAM made for the mid 2012 13" MacBook Pro.    Just because it says it 4GB of 1600MHz DDR3 memory does not mean it is compatible with your Mac.  You have to buy RAM for Macs with lifetime warranty, that is not ValueRAM, and says the model and its time frame within the year that it was released, and its model number when buying RAM.  Both http://www.macsales.com/ (OWC) and http://www.crucial.com/ sell RAM in that means of attributing what kind of RAM it is.
I ran an internet-based free diagnostic tool and it showed that my hard drive did have bad parts (corrupted? possible to fix or not?) and it was acting irregularly...
What tool?  Some are known to damage software components of drives.  Especially any that address system cache.

  • Upgraded to snow leopard and now cannot print

I purchased an iPhone 4S which forced me to upgrade to snow leopard. I have two Epson printers and an Epson scanner.  Now I cannot print.
I downloaded Epson updates for the new system from the Apple website hoping that would solve the problem.  It did not.
    Current print issues:
The print dialogue boxes look like inDesign options, not photoshop or "regular" print options.
    I cannot print :  Error:/System/Library/Printers/Printjobmgr/Contents/MacOS
Any suggestions on what to do next?  This is very frustrating.
    Thanks in advance.

Open the System Preferences program and select the Print tab. Delete the printers and then try installing the printers again.
I don't know what you mean by:
The print dialogue boxes look like inDesign options, not photoshop or "regular" print options.
If this persists you might want to take screenshots and include them.

  • Cannot print via network on Epson R300

Hi, I have Epson Stylus Color R300 connected to my wireless router that has printer server. It works fine with windows (one desktop machine with Windows XP and one laptop with Windows 7) but I cannot print from macs (Macbook 2008 and Macbook Pro 2010, both OSX 10.6.6 with latest updates). I tried to play around with different drivers and settings - no luck. Sometimes printer replies '192.168.1.1 is busy', sometimes is does not do a thing. I tried native Epson drivers, gutenprint 5.2.6+CUPS, PrintFab - no luck.
Did anyone have any similar problem? Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply. The router is Zyxel Keenetic though this product is for Eastern European market only. I tried to search their website and found similar model for Western Europe - http://www.zyxel.co.uk/web/productfamilydetail.php?PC1indexflag=20040520161313&CategoryGroupNo=7C8C841D-F9CB-46AD-B0DA-C 4FA7F1DA500
I have tried IPP and LPD but nothing worked. After googling this issue a bit I found that some people tried to put P1 as queue but it did not help as well.

  • Cannot find HP AiO networked printer

Spent over 1.5 hrs with HP support to no avail...thought someone here may have some additional information.
Have an HP PS3210 AiO printer connect via USB to my MBP. My wife can print fine as long as I'm home and my computer is on. When I am away she must connect her PB to print. No big deal but an inconvenience.
The 3210 has built in networking so I tried to connect it to the wireless router for network printing with a wired (Cat 5) connection. HP software could not find the printer. Uninstalled and re-installed software with most current version, still could not find the printer. Here's what's weird. Both machines can find the printer by entering the IP address in a browser window. It prints, scans, shows ink levels, tech data, everything. On the PB I can manually install the printer by going to printer setup utility, add, default browser, more printers, then selecting HP IP printer from the drop down menu but I cannot do it on the MBP. HP IP printing is not offered as an option. Even after adding the printer manually, printing a test page so I know it works, when I run the HP device setup program it still does not find the printer.
I have tried disabling the firewall on both machines, no change. HP says I have a problem with Bonjour, that it must be working properly in order for the software to see the printer on the network. If that's so, how come everything else seems to see the printer?
I have alot more faith in the knowledge available on this board than anythig HP can do for me. Any ideas or suggestions????
    Thanks!
    MBP 2.33 C2Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

You're very welcome, and that's great news. Now because you were able to add the printer and successfully print from the EWS, it let's us know that everything is set up properly we just need to contact the router manufacturer and have them open up some ports that may be blocked.
When you contact them please tell them to make sure that the bonjour multicasting is enabled on the router. Now you will need to make sure that the following ports are unblocked:
    UDP: 427, 161, 137, 138,
    TCP: 9100, 9220, 9500, 137, 139, 427
    Bonjour Ports: 80, 443, 5222, 5223
Once these settings are changed and ports unblocked you should now be able to successfully print to your D110a.
Let me know how everything works out!

    PROBLEM: Cannot print from Photoshop
    After restart error message appears:
    — “There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents.”
    • All print commands are greyed out and unavailable — even to call up the printer commands cannot be done.
The printer printed fine until about 2 weeks ago when this error message appeared.  Printing continues from Pages, I-photo, preview etc. —  only Photoshop fails.
The printer has been turned on and off, as have open documents been closed and open etc..   Preferences reset.  Repeatedly I have read through blogs and forums and attempted to contact Adobe — all without results
Epson support struggled to find reason and several solutions were tried and they assume this is an Adobe problem.

  • Cannot print to Epson Artisan 725

Okay, the first time I set this thing up I was able to print wirelessly no problem. After restart, though, it refused to print at all--not via USB, Ethernet or wireless. It does, however, scan and save to my computer just fine. Epson of course feels this is a Mac software issue. After reviewing this forum, I tried a few things that seemed relevant, including:
--downloading and installing the newest driver
--adding the printer as an IP printer
    --resetting the printing system
    --trashing the Epson library folder
--restarting in safe mode and repairing permissions
--downloading and running Printer Setup Repair
    --downloading the Gutenprint drivers
After this last, I can at least get a file to spool, but the queue says "network host is busy; will retry in 30 seconds..." When I use the old Gimp driver, it causes the printer to spit out a never-ending supply of blank pages.
It does show up when I ping it and in Bonjour.
One post mentioned 802.11g and 802.11n printing in regards to an Artisan 810, but I don't know what that means. Anyone have some other ideas? Am I just doomed?
