Cannot print to Laserjet 4200n

Hi, I am trying to install an HP laserjet 4200n. The printer only accept a serial and RJ45 cable. I am trying to use the rj45 cable connection. I first tried to get it to print via my time machine, which did not work, and then directly to my 1st generation iMac. I added the printer by selecting that option in the print menu, it recognizes the correct printer, and all the properties and installed a new device option for it. But when I try and print either through the router (which would be my preference so other computers could access the printer), or directly to the mac I get an unable to connect to printer error message. It says "attempting to connect to host NPIC98D87.local.on port 9100" , then below that line "unable to connect to printer". Any ideas? I'm not that tech savvy, therefore the purchase of a Mac. Thanks for any help.

Plug the printer into the Time Capsule. Find out the IP address of the printer - either from a front panel or by pressing a test button near the ethernet connector to get a Config printout.
On the Mac, in Print & Fax prefs, click +, select IP printer, and HP Jetdirect protocol. enter IP address and select driver. Try it.
If this doesn't work, compare printer IP address to computer. The printer needs to be in the same subnet as the computer - the first 3 parts of the IP address would be the same.

  • Home Network Vista PCs Cannot Print To LaserJet P2015 on Home Network

Here's the scenario and problems I am having...
I have a home network with 5 PCs - some Vista 32-bit, some Windows 7 32-bit.  On one of the Vista PCs, a HP LaserJet P2015 is connected to it directly via USB, but it is also connected to a home network via a Linksys router.
Every PC was able to print fine to this printer, UNTIL I upgraded the PC with the printer connected to it from Vista to 7.  Now, there are two issues:
    1)  Any Vista PC shows that you can connect to the printer, but it says UPDATE DRIVER.  From the PC that is now Windows 7, it shows 3 drivers available to share:  X86, X64, and ITANIUM.  ITANIUM is uncheck, the others are checked.  Apparently, the X86 driver is NOT for Vista, because it either does not install the driver, or it does install but it is not recognized - even when installing the VISTA driver for P2015 from the HP website, it continues to say UPDATE DRIVER.  I have tried everything that I know of and can not figure this out.
    2) The Windows 7 PCs (other than the one that has the printer connected to it) CAN print to this printer, but now, it is VERY slow, whereas before the upgrade of that one pc from Vista to 7, it printed at normal speed.
So, these are the two issues when the printer-attached PC was upgraded from Vista to 7.  Obivously, issue 1) is much more important at the moment, but I have to believe that whatever is going on here is related to both issues.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me insane.
    Thanks!
    Andy

    Anybody have any suggestions...?

  • Cannot print duplex with hp laserjet 1536dnf mfp

I am using a HP LaserJet 1536 dnf MFP printer in Windows 8.1 with USB 2 connection.  Cannot print on both sides of sheet because clicking on print properties does not bring up the properties dialog window.  There is a momentary flicker as though it is trying to activate, but no window.  It worked fine until a few days ago and I can't think of any change that might account for this.  Any help with this problem will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi @Marlin1 ,
I understand that you are having issues duplexing, the printer properties aren't opening to make any changes. I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
You can always restore your computer back to a earlier time when everything was working properly. It may have been from a Windows Update. How to refresh, reset, or restore your PC on Windows 8.

  • Cannot print to Color Laserjet Pro MFP M177fw

I have a HP Color Laserjet MFP M177fw hard wired to my router. I can print from internet explorer, chrome and other applications such as Office and Notepad, etc. I cannot print from Adobe Acrobat Pro XI. I can get to the print dialogue page and hit print but nothing comes out and I can't see any jobs stuck in the print queue.
I am using an HPtouch computer with Windows 8.1

I have the same problem for my 177fw. It does connect to my desktop via wireless connection when I check the control panel, yet no printing job could be done and they just disappear in the queue list. Sorry to say that, Ms. Helen-Hua, but I don't think "trying to print as image" can help to solve the problem no matter what result it is. For most people I don't think they would accept a printer that cannot print a simple text document.
Look forward to receiving working solution.
PS. The wireless connection has absolutely no problem for my win 7 laptop and my desktop which is formerly win 7. The problem only happen when the computer is upgraded to win 8.1 and another brand-new win 8 desktop.

  • HP Color Laserjet 1600 cannot print in color with Pages 09

    Hi, everybody!
I got a huge problem for me that the HP Color Laserjet 1600 cannot print in color with Pages 09 after I upgrade to 10.6.1. It worked very well in 10.5.8. Since there is no official driver from HP website for 1600, so I used foomatic/foo2hp as the driver.
It is very strange that I can print in color with Safari and Preview in 10.6.1, but cannot with Pages 09. When I print with Pages 09, it always shows that the print job was completed but my printer was nothing happened.
I just re-install the 10.6 OS "complete new", install the printer driver with the instructions on this forum.
It would be high appreciated if somebody can help me on it!

Why doesn't MAC just give us the driver for the HP Color Laserjet 1600? It's one of the most popular home based business laserjets. It's the one I use and a lot of other people in business use it so I'm at a loss as to why they don't.
I bought my MAC Pro tower for video editing and I can't print from it and have had to reinstall the OS on it once already because Safari wouldn't open a window. So much for the MAc advertising statement of "We're so much easier to use."
After spending close to $10,000 on MAC equipment, Tower, Laptop, Monitor, etc. if they think I'm going to spend more for a new printer just because I can't get a driver to print they're thinking wrong. I going to re-think my new cell phone purchase too. Has anyone had software issuses with their phones before I go out and buy one?

  • Cannot print to HP LaserJet 1020 after installing Reader XI 11.0.03

After installing the Acrobat Reader 11.0.3 update, I cannot print to my old, reliable HP LaserJet 1020 from Acrobat Reader and many other applications at all. Am using Win 7 64-bit.  Also have Acrobat 7 Standard and PDF-Xchange 4.0, both of which have become semi-broken after installing the Acrobat Reader 11.0.3 update as well.

One of the things I have experienced in the past with printing PDFs is that it would hang in the print queue.  There is a manual method of deleting the print documents in the print queue.  But the issue is printing PDF documents that are scanned in and has maybe highlighted text or handwritten notes on the PDF.  The printer driver can render it correctly if printing the PDF as a text document.  What you have to do is change it so that it prints as a PDF image instead.
To print as an image, open the PDF then click File then click Print.  Click the Advanced button on the following window that pops up and select the check box "Print as image".
Now to clear your print queue will be key prior to doing this if the print job is hung in the print queue.
Here is a Microsoft KB Article that explains how to do this.  I think it has an available Microsoft Fixit tool you can use as well.

  • Why does IE 9 say internal error and cannot print to Color Laserjet 2600n?

IE 9 displays message "Internal error, cannot print page" when I try to print to a networked Color Laserjet 2600n. Printing works well on my other networked HP printer.

The windows 8 driver for this printer should be available in late January. Please bookmark this site and visit it for up to date information. Also located on this site are links to documents for the network workaround and the in-os document.
Laserjet Printers supported in Windows 8
Install HP print software via a network in Windows 8
As a test, I did install this using the windows 7 drivers, it printed fine but I received a pop up giving me an error printing but it still printed. I then used the network work around to shut the bi-di off and the pop up went away, again it printed fine. I would suggest if you use the windows 7 drivers, that you upgrade to the windows 8 drivers when they are available.

  • Laserjet 1020. Cannot print with Internet Explorer 9

I have downloaded the latest Microsoft Internet Explorer 9  and now find that I cannot print emails with my HP Laserjet 1020. Previously when using IE8 printing was OK. I use Windows Live Mail and Windows Vista as my OS. I also have an Epson printer that works OK with IE9 and Live Mail but the HP does not. I would like to keep IE9 if possible

    Hi ATOL,
It sounds like you might be selecting properties instead of  "printer properties".
Double check and make sure that  you're selecting "printer properties" from the list.

  • Panther cannot print to AppleTalk LaserJet

My iMac G3/400 10.3.9 has stopped printing to my networked HP LaserJet4M. It works fine if I boot in 9, but X simply doesn't see the printer. When I tried to print using Appletalk, the job would just hang, and then after 30 seconds or so would report "stopped".
I have made sure AppleTalk is on on my ethernet connection, have created a new location, set the AppleTalk to that location setting and then switched back, as some support articles suggested. There is no Airport in this Mac, so I know AppleTalk can't be set to some other connection. I then deleted the printer, tried reinstalling it (but cannot as it doesn't appear)
I have tried printing to it as an IP printer (I know it's IP address) without AppleTalk and Nothing! All my other Macs can see and print to the printer, in both 9 and X. My PCs too.
Cannot print from Classic to it on this machine either.
When I try to print using IP printing, it says "opening connection to (printer IP address)" and then does absolutely nothing. I walked away and it sat for more than an hour that way.
The computer CAN print to my Epson R300 on an Airlink+ USB print server. The LaserJet is also served by this Airlink+ server through it's Centronics port for the PCs on the network, and I actually used to be able to print to it directly in AppleTalk over Ethernet, or choose the OTHER connection that the PCs use on the server and print to it over IP. It doesn't appear as a choice on the printer server now, either.
    Repaired permissions as well.
Network is good (obviously, as I can print to it from 9, and can browse in both 9 and X.)
    Terminal atlookup reports:
    ef00.4f 81 :
    ef00.4f 83 Epson_R300:Inkjet
    ef00.4f 82 LaserJet4M:HP LaserJet4M
It worked fine until about 10 days ago. Is there some idiotic bug in the last security update that kills this? Not related to this, but my PPC machines running Tiger got the screwed update that prevents Safari from showing graphics and the pages stall at about 80% loaded, so I wonder if the PPC update for Panther screwed printing as well.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    iMac slot G3/400 10.3.9   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   256Mb

For IP printing to the 4M - if it has a network card, the best protocol will be HP Jetdirect (your "opening connection" message sounds like using IPP or LPD without queue name entered).
About updates - a common step is to download the latest "Combination" Updater and re-update with that.
About appletalk - have you tried booting from the OS X DVD and running Disk Utility? What you've done so far (good troubleshooting) leads me to suspect that some part of the OS is corrupted.
Like pap (/usr/libexec/cups/backend/pap = printer access protocol, the printing part of appletalk), or maybe some other part of CUPS, that I can't guess.

  • What driver supports a hp laserjet 4200n printer in windows 7

I am trying to add a laserjet 4200n to my new hp computer.  It doesn't seem to be supported by windows 7  every time I try to print I get error printing message.

You have a couple of choices for drivers for this printer:
    1. Use the In-OS driver that comes with the windows 7 system. Install the driver included in the Windows 7 operating system (OS)
    2. Use the Universal Print Driver for either windows 7 32 bit or 64 bit. UPD home page

We have a user here who cannot print pdfs to a networked hp color laserjet 3800. Everyone else can print pdfs to it and the user can print to other networke printers. Any ideas?

Maybe an update of the LJ driver on the user's system?

  • Cannot print to HP M1212nf from iPad 2 iOS 5.0.1 (9A405)

I have an HP LaserJet M1212nf MFP printer which I cannot print to.
Previously, I have a couple of iPod Touch 4G's that were on iOS 4.2.x and was able to print to it successfully.
Now, for whatever reason, I cannot print to it from my iPod Touch 4G's nor from my new iPad 2.  I just bought the iPad 2 within the last two weeks.  The iPod Touch 4G's and iPad 2 are all on iOS 5.0.1 (9A405).
If I try to print from Safari, I get a "No AirPrint Printers Found" message from both the iPods and iPad.
I have tried to update the HP LaserJet M1212nf with the latest firmware from the HP support site to no avail.  See below link:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&p roduct=3965849
What puzzles me is that this all used to work with iOS 4.2.x flawlessly with the iPods.  Now mysteriously, it no longer works in iOS 5.0.1 with the iPods. It also does not work with the new iPad.
I wonder if there's anything that I need to configure to get this working again.  I realize that it should be all just "plug-n-play" and AirPrint should all work automatically.  Even before the upgrade to the latest HP firmware, the iPods stopped printing to it after they were upgraded to iOS 5.0.1.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,

Have you tried "FingerPrint" by "Collobos Software" at http://www.collobos.com
You can download the software free for evaluation, only costs $10.00 to purchase if it works for you.

  • CANNOT PRINT FROM ADOBE 8.1.2 PDF FILE TO OLIVETTI ANYWAY

Hi I have had this problem before wiht a laserjet printer and cannot remember how I have solved it.
I am on a Macbook pro running leopard OS 10.5.2 and trying to print a standard pdf from Adobe Acrobat Professional Reader 8.1.2 to an olivetti anyway. I have no other probs printing, and can print this same pdf through preview, but the fonts default.
It goes through as if it is printing then in the printer set up it just stops itself and won't print.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

I did download new drivers, but the situation gets even more interesting. It is only one file I can't print. I print .pdf files from a particular website quite often. When I started having problems with this one file - I just got stuck there. Well, I went to some of the other "new" pdf files and was able to print those. I still cannot print one particular page. I have tried downloading the file to my hard drive but still could not print. I have decided there is some code in this particular file that my printer cannot compute. I did manage to get it printed in B/W on an HP laser printer. Just is a weird glitch. Thanks for responding.

  • Unable to print to a network printer, HP LaserJet 4000n

After much frustrating going in circles, I finally installed the software for my network printer, an HP LaserJet 4000n, otherwise idetified on my 4 other PCs as HP LaserJet 4000 PCL 6.  It works well on the others, including an HP Netbook with Windows 7 Starter.
I finally got the printer to show up as HP Universal Printing PCL 6.  I can set the Properties from my wife's new HP G72-B60US, running Windows 7 Home Premium (64 Bit).  I can click on "Print Test Page,"  and I get the message that it was sent to the printer.  However, it doesn't print.  I get an "Error - Printing" message.  I tried using the Windows assistant, but couldn't get any results.
