Cannot print wirelessly - HP Officejet 6700 Premium

I have had no problem printing wirelessly for over a year.  The last few days, I have been unable to print from Windows 7.  From the printer, the wireless connection looks good and I can print a test page.  I can ping the IP address from my computer and I can print a test page  from the printers web page.  But when I try to print from word, notepad or any other web page, it shows the correct printer and IP address, the print goes into the print queue and disappears.

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @howtoprint
I read your post about how you cannot print from programs on your Windows 7 computer however, can print from the embedded web server page.
I would suggest running the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. If there was a problem that the tool could not fix, you will notice it in the results.
Try printing again afterwards.
If that does not work, try Uninstalling the Printer Software, restarting the computer, and reinstalling the printer.
Good luck, I hope this helps

  • Print problem for Officejet 6700

Recently I have been having trouble in printing the word document.  I was working about 3-4 days ago.
I have windows XP with MS Word 2010.  The print is HP Officejet 6700 Premium.  I always use it in the offline mode.  It's connected to the computer via LPT slot.
The test page gets printed.  But the word document doesn't.  I also tried notebook and excel documents, and I have the same problem.
I know it's something very simple (at least I feel that way) bit it's very annoying when one needs something printed.
Please help me or direct me to seek further help.  Thank you.

  • Scanning with an Officejet 6700 Premium

    Hi!
    I'm having trouble scanning documents.
My laptop is a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.10.1 (Yosemite).
The printer is an Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One. It is connented via WiFi -- the Printers & Scanners section of System Preferences lists it as HP Officejet 6700-AirPrint.
I *can* print documents, so the setup is not entirely messed up...
The printer makes copies, so the scanning hardware must be OK.
I downloaded and installed fresh drivers from the HP website.
I *can* scan documents by going to the printer's webpage, then to Scan > Webscan. This only works in Firefox, not in Chrome, and doesn't give me the option to select the are I'd like to scan. It's rather inconvenient.
    What *doesn't* work:
-Webscan in the Chrome browser: the scanner makes some noise but I can't save the result.
-In Preview, File > Import from Scanner... is disabled. This used to work and was very convenient, but then broke somehow.
-HP Scan. It says "Preparing to scan..." for a couple of seconds then pops up an error message: "Scanner reported an error. HP Officejet 6700 is currently unavailable. Please check if it is turned on and connected, or try again later."
-"Scan to computer" from the printer. A popup appears on my computer screen:
"Scan failed. The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.hp.scanhandler.error error 2.)"
Any help would be greatly appreciated! It would be wonderful if we could get Preview's Import from Scanner... function to work.
    Thanks,
    b

    Ha!
    I fixed it.
    Here's what I did:
-Run HP Uninstaller to remove... everything?
    -Reboot the laptop.
-Do a factory reset on the printer, then re-enter the WiFi password.
-Download the driver (is that what it is?) from hp.com/support. I noticed that the file is called "HP Inkjet SW OSX Mavericks.pkg" even though my OS is called Yosemite.
-Install that, following all prompts. When I added the printer I picked"HP Officejet 6700" rather than "AirPrint" for"Use:"even though AirPrint would have been the default and the choice of "Auto Select". See attached screenshot.
-Go to Preview, menu File > Import from HP Officejet 6700... and test. Success!
Of course I don't know which of these things made the difference, but it worked for me.
    Cheers,
    b

  • HP Officejet 6700 Premium: eprint works; connection with printer cable doesn't

Just bought a new Officejet 6700 Premium. I had the same model before. Setup worked well and eprint functions. But with the last Officejet I had, I could also connect it with a printer cable and then I could print directly without having to send an email. I find this useful, because there is not so much waste of paper and ink on pages I don't need (sometimes I only want to print one page  from a series of several pages or I want to print something directly from the internet). With the new model I have connected the printer and my computer with the printer cable, but I cannot print with the option of, for example, "print this page", but always have to make a pdf and then attach this to an email and send it to hpeprint. Can someone tell me what I have to do in order to be able to print directly  with the printer cable? Thank you in advance!

    Welcome to the forums, @Sunshine888
I read your post about how you can ePrint successfully, however you cannot print from your computer. I would like to help you with this! To find the best troubleshooting steps for you, I would need to know which operating system you are running on your computer and also let me know how you wish to connect your printer to your computer (USB, Ethernet or wireless).

  • HP Officejet 6700 Premium - Won't print from my laptop.

HP Officejet 6700 Premium - Microsoft Windows 7 - I get a message on my Dell Laptop that says my printer is offline. The connection between the laptop and printer is wireless. I can run copies by placing them on my printer, but the printer is not reading instructions from my laptop. I cannot even print a test page when the instruction is given from my laptop.

    Hello,
In addition to what "banhien" mentioned. Obtain the IP of the printer.
On the PC desktop > START > All Programs > HP > Officejet 6700 > Update IP , then type in the IP obtained from the printer.

  • How do I re-enable built-in networking on Officejet 6700 premium printer?

I inadvertently, and stupidly,  turned OFF the built-in networking from within my  Officejet 6700 premium AiO web-based administrator console. Now I cannot manually reset it from the controls on the printer itself. I get a message informing "Built-in network capabilities have been disabled. Contact your network administrator or the person who set up the printer." Well, that person is me. I cannot find instructions telling how to re-enable the built-in network capabilities.
My OS is WIN7. The printer was working OK before I messed with it.
Can anyone offer advice regarding this problem?
    Thank you.

    Distinquished (and snarky) Professor.
Thank you for your attempt to assist, but your response was not only condescending - "Did you read the manual???  I downloaded it and read it. Turn the wireless radio on and off" - but totally not helpful. The intro to your reply makes you sound to be an arrogant high school teen who thinks she has every answer unknown to adults.
Some of us are not technilliterate. I certainly DID read the manual and attempted every option I thought might work. The problem, if you read my problem post, was that I inadvertently clicked OFF the Connectivity Built-in Network capabilities from within the EWS. That made it impossible for my printer to connect to the network via cable or wireless. When I attempted to find a solution at the printer control display itself, by going Setup > Network > Restore Network Defaults, but, instead of the "Restore Network Defaults, it presented the message I posted informing that Built-in network capabilities were disabled, which is what I already knew and wanted to resolve. I needed to find a way to reset to Out-of-the-Box settings. Nothing in the manual provided, nor could I find online, this answer.
Fortunately, my printer was still under warranty (HP apparently wont chat if you aren't under warranty, unless you pay them for the service). I was able to chat with an HP Rep who Identified herself (maybe himself ...  Who knows?) as "Jasmine". Jasmine was very helpful. But, although I had specifically identified to her the problem is that I lost network connectivity due to carelessly turning off built-in network capabilities of the printer from within its EWS, Jasmine still had to spend time running through her HP requied first-line Help Representative script. She spent about fifteen minutes remote assisting and checking out every possible "other option" before she concluded with these precious words, "The problem is that your printer has lost network connectivity. I am going to give you some instructions to follow so we can reset the printer to Semi-full restore." I received her instructions and followed them precisely. Very easy. When I asked her why these instructions are not published by HP somewhere for customers to access, she informed that they are "secret Advanced instructions" (I think she was being a little silly).   ...
Following, for you Distinquished Professor (so you don't need to be snarky with others) and for all other fellow technophiles out there, is Jasmines "secret Advanced instructions" as she wrote the on the chat. I have provided some interpretation at the end. Do note, if you (not specifically you Distinguished Professor,  but every other "you" out there)  don't have some good idea of what you are doing, getting off the path by which these instructions lead can get you into more difficulty with your printer than that by which you began the journey.
Jasmine: Please follow the below steps:
    1. Touch this curve icon 4 times though it is not highlighted
    2. When you do it, you can see Support menu on the printer LCD screen.
    3. Once you see the Support Menu on the printer touch OK use the right arrow key next to the printer LCD screen to see Reset Menu.
    4. Now, touch OK then use the right arrow key next to the printer lcd screen to see Semi Full.
    5. Touch on Semi-Full option.
    6. The printer will turn OFF
    7. Power it back ON.  It will initialize itself.
    8. Please follow the onscreen steps.
    Helpful interpretations:
Regarding #1. The “curve icon” is the left curving return icon located at the left side of the printer’s control panel touch sensitive display window, but outside the display window. It is lit when the menu can be returned back a page, but unlit when at Home screen.  This is actually a hardware button, not touch sensitive, so pressing it, even when not lit, creates and action signal.  When the display is at the Home state, the return button is unlit, but pressing it four times will generate a menu option for Support Menu on the display.
Regarding #3. The "right arrow" is the forward page button located to the right outside the display screen. Like the return button, it also is unlit unless it can perform an action related to what appears on the display. Press the forward page arrow until the displayed menu option changes to Reset Menu. Select this option to perform step #4.
Successfully following Jasmine's instructions will restore the HP Officejet 6700 Premium AiO to its out-of-the-box-new settings. Note that Jasmine specified "Semi-Full" restore, not "Full" restore. A full restore will take the printer back to it basic out-of-the-factory state. This state will require significantly more settings and configurations work afterward than with which most of us would like to deal. Out-of-the-box state will cycle through everything as it did when you first pulled the printer out of the box new and set it up yourself. Do note, any custom settings will be lost. Passwords, however, are retained in a Semi-Full restore.
Hope this information helps everyone else who may be having similar difficulties or just need to know how to restore your printer back to Out-of-the-box-new state.

  • HP Officejet 6700 Premium, Won't print in black ink only

Hello I have a officejet 6700 premium and im running windows 7 home. I recently ran out of the color cartridge yellow but i cannot afford to replace it right now and would like to know if there is a way to print only in black when my color cartridges are depleted. I tried selecting 'only black ink' under setting but when I tried to print it said i must replace the yellow cartridge before I can resume printing. Please help!

The Officejet 6700 premium has separate printheads and ink supplies, with plumbing to connect them.  If one of the colors has run out completely printing will be blocked as ink is needed to keep the printhead from clogging.  While printing even black only the printhead would be waving around in the air and the color portion of the printhead could become clogged if there were not sufficient ink available for servicing.  Sorry, but you will need to replace the color cartridge.
The document here decribes how ink is used in HP (and other) inkjet printers.  In the language of that document the Officeejt 6700 is an IIC printer.

  • HP Officejet 6700 Premium cannot connect to wifi network

Since a few days, our HP Officejet 6700 Premium can no longer connect to wifi network. All our other devices as laptops, smartphones, tablets have no difficulty in connecting to the wifi. reconnecting and entering the WPA password doesn't help.
The printer says the SSID of our wifi network is not unique, it detects multiple access points.
What can I do to solve this issue.

    Hello there @karatejan
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I read about the issues you're facing when trying to connect your Officejet 6700 printer to your network recently. I have three suggestions for you, and please let me know the results when you are done.
Try power cycling the network devices:
Turn off the printer and computer and unplug the router for 1 minute (do not press any buttons on the router).
Plug the router back in and wait another minute, next turn on the printer and computer, and run the set up again.
If you are running a Windows OS, from your PC, perform a Clean Boot, which will turn off the start up programs just in case there is something blocking the installation. Try the USB to wireless set up again.
Check your router settings to match these recommended settings:
    1. Network name and password to have no spaces or punctuation.
    2. If using WPA2 security, switch to WPA personal.
    3. Dual broadcast Wireless b/g/n (printer may only connect to g).
    4. Mac filter needs to be turned off.
    5. Firewall settings need to be at there default settings, or set to a lower security.
    6. Multicasting "on".
    7. Following ports need to be un-blocked:
    Incoming (UDP) ports : 137, 138, 161, 427
    Outgoing (TCP) ports : 137, 139, 427, 9100, 9220, 9500

  • Hp officejet 6700 premium printer-printer failure

I bought a HP officejet 6700 premium a month ago.  I installed the printer and it printed ok.  But after a few day of use, it suddenly stopped printing and gave a Printer Failure massage on the front control panel.  The message says: There is a problem with the printer or ink system.  Turn printer off then on.  If problem persists, contact HP.  I have checked all ink cartridges.  They seem all ok (I have only print less than 10 pages since installed). I have turned power off and on several times but did'nt work.   I have searched all over the HP website for help, but still can't find a solution for my printer problem.   I deeply appreciate, if someone can help me or give me directions to make my new printer works again.  Thanks.
P.S.  my laptop computer has Winders 7.

Did you get an answer? I think the problem lies with the blue print head with the gold pins, they get bent when you change out printer cartridges. Several folks have had this problem. I watched a youtube video of repairman saying both the 6600 and 6700 printer had this problem until HP changed the print heads. I am still fussing with HP about this but I am pretty certain I won't get any relief. Good luck

Scan-to-email app with Officejet 6700 Premium printer - attachment does not come through

    Hi
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I see that you are unable to use the scan to email feature of your Officejet 6700 printer because you are getting an unable to connect message.
There are several steps I would like you to try please.
    Please turn off your printer.
Please turn off your router.  If your router doesn’t have an on/off switch, please unplug the power cord from the router.
After waiting a full 60 seconds please turn on your router (or plug it back in).
After the router has completed its startup routine please turn on your printer.
After the printer has completed its startup routine, please test the scan to email feature.  If it works there no need to continue with any further trouble shooting steps.
Please set a manual IP address and manual DNS servers for the printer. I have included a link to another post with the steps, including screen shots on how to do this.   Don’t worry that the screen shots show a Officejet 8600 printer, the steps are the same.
Please test the scan to email feature.  If it works there is no need to continue with any further trouble shooting steps.
Please call HP’s Cloud Services at 1-855-785-2777 if you live in the USA/Canada region. If you live outside the USA/Canada region please click here to find the Technical Support number for your country/region.

  • My Mac stoped printing. I am on ox 10.9 and I have a HP Officejet 6700 premium

My Mac stoped printing. I am on ox 10.9 and I have a HP Officejet 6700 premium. I've reinstalled the drivers and tried several time . . . It just keeps telling me that the printer is busy.
I also have a PC hocked up to the network and it prints fine.
There is nothing wrong with my mac either because I have a dymo printer hocked up and it prints fine . . .
    What gives?

    Hi HappyHarpo,
Thanks for your post and welcome to the HP Forum.
At first step I suggest to restart your Mac and printer. If printer is in a network, also reboot the router first. Then try printing again.
If it still fails, I suggest to reset the printing system. Open Printers & Scanners and right-click the left side with the listed printer then choose Reset Printing System.
Then add the printer again, make sure next to "Use" the HP Printer/driver is selected correctly, and test printing.
    Best regards,

  • Officejet 6700 Premium says color cartridge is depleted and won't print at all

My printer is only 5-6 months old, and refuses to print because it says the Yellow cartridge is depleted. I know it has not dried up and that it is still printing fine because I signed up for an app that prints out recipes every weekday (in color) and the page printed just this morning looked perfectly fine - the yellow showed up totally normal. The estimated ink level for the yellow cartridge does say that it is depleted, but how can that be when I have proof (from this morning's printout) that I still have yellow ink?  And, according to the manual, the printer will still print if one of the color cartridges is depleted, as long as the black is not depleted. The black is only half-used, so why is the manual giving false information and my printer still refuses to print anything? Very frustrated....

Hey BoydJones, I see you are having an issue with your Officejet 6700 Premium and have a few questions.  There are 2 major types of ink systems for inkjet model printers: IPH (integrated printhead) and IIC (individual ink cartridges).  Many older model printers used the IPH style cartridge system: Tri-Color and Black.  Most newer printers use the IIC system, but not all. There was a reason for the paradigm shift in the ink systems.  The tri-color cartridge contained all 3 colors used in color printing: Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.  If any one of the 3 ran out, then you had to replace the cartridge no matter how much of the other 2 remain in the cartridge.  In the IIC system one can change only the individual color that is out. As to the reason your color is draining from what appears to be little color usage:  The printer uses ink in many ways.  Ink is used when cleaning the printhead to ensure proper performance in print jobs, a small amount of color ink is placed below black ink to ensure a full rich black color and a long lasting printout, and ink is used to perform other preventative maintenance in the printer.  For more information on how ink is used in HP printers please click here. The reason one has to change the cartridge in the IIC style ink system is to prevent damage to the printhead of the unit by ink drying in the ports of the printhead.  The printhead in the 6700 premium is a stationary/permanent printhead and any damage of this nature could prevent the unit from printing at all.  In the 2 cartridge, IPH, system the printhead is contained with the cartridge and replaced with each cartridge change.  Thus, if one runs out of color and waits to replace the cartridge there will not be an issue of dried ink in the ports as the printhead is changed with the cartridge. I hope this helps to explain and clarify.  As well, I saw your post and forwarded it to the right people for their review. You should hear back from someone shortly via private message on this Forum. Jason
