Cannot print with my Brother DCP-7055 (copies and scans are working)

Since I updated my system I am not able to print something with my Mac on the Brother DCP-7055.
When I want to print something it shows on the printer that it is submitting the data but nothing happen. From this moment the printer is like "blocked" and all the new task are in the waiting list.
I tried everything, delete the printer and reinstall it, reinstall the driver and everything.
It is not a problem of the printer I think, because I can do copies and as well I can do a scan (connected with my Mac as well).
I need help!
Thanks in advance.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select
          /var/log ▹ cups ▹ error_log
from the hierarchical list on the left side of the Console window. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last failed printing attempt. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.

  • Configure printer resolution in Brother DCP-7055

    Hi all.
I'm setting up a multifunction Brother DCP-7055 printer Archlinux, using the official driver, which is installed and running, but when configure print only lets me choose between 600 dpi and HQ1200dpi, when using it under Windows 7 used 300dpi. I wanted to know if there is any way to configure it to accept this resolution.
    Regards.

  • If you cannot print with OS 10.6.8 update read this--- It works!

    I was having printing issues......
    This worked for me.....

Posted a fix on my blog, check it out here:

OK. Here is the scoop. After updating to OS 10.6.4 via DVD. i used software update to get to 10.6.8. That included updated HP printer drivers, but still could not print.
I update the firmware in the printer itself to the latest and greatest from HP. Still no go. Note - HP does NOT have software drivers on it's site for the HP2430N - only the firmware update.
Because my OS is new, I figured Apple should help. I called Apple. The assistant directed me to the HP site update. I told him that the update he pointed me to was a fitmware update, not a driver and that I had already done that.
The assistant had me delete the printer so we could add it back. the only problem saw that once deleted, it did not reappear in the add printer list.
The HP2430N is a network printer - connected to the mac and the other macs around via ethernet through a router - hardwired, not wifi. After a little research, the assistant finds out and tells me t6hat apple NO LONGER SUPPORTS NETWORK PRINTERS!
The assistand had me cycle the router. no luck - the printer did not appear in the add list.
The assistant said that if I could connect the printer directly via USB we may be able to configure it and then get it back on the network configured and working with the new OS.
I connected the prointer directly with a USB cable and the OS saw it right away. I configured and printed. I disconnected the cable and the printer disappeared. The ethernet connection was active the whole time.
BUT, after cycling the router, the printer did now appear in the add list. I selected and configured and now it prints. I deleted the USB version of the printer from the list.
The solution for NETWORK printers boiled down:
connect printer DIRECTLY (via USB), select and configure.
cycle router and disconnect direct connection
    make network connections
re-select printer in add window, configure.
delete USB version of printer from list.
My thanks to those who offered to help

Mac OS X 10.6.8 is the current incarnation of Snow Leopard, and fixes various issues in earlier releases.
Current versions of Mac OS X 10.6 include the necessary printer driver for the Brother DCP-7030 printer (HT3669).  (The asterisk footnote on that printer indicates there was a recent update via Software Update, so get to current 10.6.8 and ensure the Brother printer software update has been selected and loaded.)
If you're on the current Mac OS X version and if have the Brother update loaded (from Apple) and if problems with the printer persist, then remove the printer from your current Mac OS X configuraton, and re-add it, and see if that clears the particular issue(s) you're having with this printer.
From experience, the Brother software for Mac OS X is a little odd, and the older software stuff (and particularly around the scanner controls for their multi-function series) were, um, unusual, and a little unstable.  Printing generally worked fine, though.  Recent versions of the Brother software are working better including for the scaller, but the UIs and the set-up are both still odd.  If you're using the box as a printer (I haven't looked at the DCP-7030 features), then you're best using the Brother software that arrives from Apple and not the software from Brother.
Also ensure the printer firmware is current.  That's corrected some odd behavior on some Brother printers.

  • I have Mavericks installed. Cannot print with IPhoto because there are no themes

I cannot print with IPhoto because it says that I do not have themes. How do I install themes? JL

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • Cannot print with Cannon LBP5000 and Timecapsule

So I've read that the Cannon LBP5000 is not compatible after all with Time Capsule.  Due to the CAPT Driver being bi-directional.  I do not accept this as a resolution and feel that Apple cannot simply push this aside.  My reason for that is this.
I was printing fine, with both my MBP and Air via a USB cable to my Cannon LBP5000 - great.
I then decided to go wireless printing.  And bought a HP 2101nw print server for £30.  I could then print wirelessly - fab!
I then decided to upgrade my MBP to Lion.  I then could no longer print on that machine. Air still fine - pants.
I then had to (for other support reasons) upgrade my Air to Lion, to fix something else.  I could no longer print from their either - bugger.
After much passing of bucks and research, I found out the HP 2101nw driver is not Lion compatible, nor do Apple or HP have any intention of fixing that.  I was told to discard that wireless print server for something compatible with Lion - cheers.
I then bought a 2TB TimeCapsule. And found I couldnt print from that either for the lame reason I quoted at the start.
If this print worked wirelessley with a £30 print server on Snow Lepoard, why is it acceptable for it to not work on a £249 device.  The printer hasnt changed, but it seemed a £30 solution is able to handle this 'Bi-Directional' impediment where the mighty TimeCapsule gives up.
What a load of tosh - really, really unimpressed Apple. Take ownership and responsiblity for something for once and fix the exceptionally painful transistion you pushed us through with Lion.

  • Cannot print with hp 2600n through network

I installed Leopard on my two month old Imac(latest model) with no real glitches and thought all was fine until I tried printing with my HP color laserjet 2600n through my network.
I get my network showing up as guest sharing(not logging me in under my name) and even though I could print fine with Tiger, I cannot print with Leopard. The request shows up in the print queue but does not print.
Any advice would be appreciated. I was never prompted before for a password everytime I printed and was always logged in to my network and not a guest sharing before. I know I'm missing something here but everything else transferred over fine from Tiger but the printer is a mystery.
    Thank you for any help,
    Nathan

Try resetting the base station that your printer USB is plugged into.
Worked for me with an Airport express

  • 10.6.5 and scanning not working on a brother

I upgraded to 10.6.5 and scanning stopped working on my Brother MFC-685CW?
It is on an ethernet. I played around enough (turn off firewall, reboot etc) to convince myself that I'm not going to be able to fix it

    Hi Charles,
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply!
Yes I have tried cycling power on both the computer and printer. That used to fix versions before 10.6.5. Unfortunately I don't get any errors. It just doesn't exist as a scanner I can select.
I see other people are having printer problems with the software version just released so it might not be

Not quite sure exactly what you want to do, but you cannot do it on a PowerBook. iCloud requires Lion and Lion requires an Intel MacBook or MacBook Pro.
