Cannot publish/announce website

I am trying to publish a few photos from iweb but when I click visit site it give me a message that it cannot find a url: helpthebottombillion . I used to have a blog in that name which I have erased. How do I reset or remove this url? Where is it sitting on my laptop or do I need to erase it through mobileme website? I have gone on idisk on my computer and tried removing files etc, but I still have not found any trace of helpthebottombillion url. How can I start off fresh, and erase any traces of past websites or names etc. Please help. Thanks. JasuUK

I have had a lot of publishing problems if I moved a page to a different place on the pages thumbnail window. According to the help you are supposed to be able to move pages around but this has caused nothing but problems for me. I leave pages exactly where they are now and I have no problems. If you have moved pages around trying putting them back to where they were and publishing.
If you moved or added anything to your web pages by navigating on your iDisk this may also cause problems.
Are you using any third party utilities for iWeb?
Are you using passwords for any of your sites? Try taking them off and publishing.
Most of my problems involved the blogs. If you are using blogs try removing the latest entries and publishing. See if this fixes the problem.
You might find something that applies to you in This article.

  • Tired of this Crap. Cannot Publish My Website. Tech Support?

Hi. I have been trying to publish my website for months with no luck. I use (am Trying to use) iWeb Version 1.1.2.I always get the same warning: "Publish Error. Publish failed due to a network error. Check your Internet connection and try again." I thought that it was a firewall at the office, then I tried where there was a faster connection and no firewall and I got the same error message.
Needless to say I am a bit frustrated and feel as though I am not getting what I have paid for. Can anyone give me any suggestions?
How can I reach tech support? Link?
Many, many thanks to all. Jeff

Jeff ~ For requesting help from Apple regarding publishing to .Mac, there's a form half-way down this page:

    iWeb's support page is here:

    Any other ideas?

Most likely you are suffering from a bug in iWeb that doesn't let you publish websites if an image you have added to your site begins with space. You can either search for that image and remove it.

  • Adobe Muse keeps crashing every time I publish any website all of a sudden

Adobe Muse keeps crashing every time I publish any website all of a sudden. Not just for the website I was working on but now all my websites. It was working perfectly fine and when I hit publish it just crashes. I have multiple copies and different websites and they are all crashing when I try to publish. It seems like it is not an error for just the one website I was working on but the entire program is not functioning correctly. Here's a screen shot of the error.

Mac or Windows? What's the error that appears? If it's an Apple Crash Report, please copy/paste the first few pages of it here.
I strongly recommend against it (for multiple reasons below) but if you uninstall Muse, then go to the Creative Cloud Desktop App, and choose "Previous Version" in the Find New Apps section there will be a dropdown arrow next to the Install button. That dropdown will list all versions of Muse.
If you've saved over top your existing file using the current version, reverting Muse won't work, since older versions cannot open files saved from newer versions. If you've don't significant work in the current version, that will be lost because you'll have to go back to the file as last saved using the prior version of Muse. Finally, there's a significant probability that error/crash is related to content in the file, network configuration, or other outside forces and if that's the case reverting won't avoid the error/crash.
If you share more info about what error you're encountering, I expect we can determine a workaround/solution.

  • Cannot publish 1 page in CS4. Other pages including index.html ok. Error message results.

After many months of no difficulty, I suddenly cannot publish changes to one of my pages (all others work) without getting the error message 'Another instance of Contribute is doing a workflow operation. Do you want to break the workflow and continue.....?' Whether I say yes or no and follow the prompts, it doesn't work. One way lets me exit, the other locks up my computer and I have to 'end task' to get control back. I hoped that the answer to the 'cannot publish index page' thread would help, but I didn't understand because most of this stuff is over my head. The only thing unusual I can dectect is the page name has an # sign after html as in 'name.html#tuition.' The word tuition refers to a pointer on the page. When I switch to edit mode, an asteric * appears after 'html' on the page name. I do not see that on any other page when I edit. I have CS4 version 5. Can anyone help? I don't know how many people there are in India, but I talked to half of them in a 2.5 hour 'session' in which I was transferred in a least 3 complete loops to every department and passing 'go' 3 times before some techie finally said I should email my question in and will get a reply within 3 days. Yeah, right. Worst tech support experience I have had in 10 years.

    Hi,
Can you try deleting the Preferences and the Contribute's User Configuration folder. You will lose your website connections, you can recreate them again after relaunching Contribute.
If you have installed Contribute in Mac, go to <Username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe folder and delete Contribute CS4 folder there. Also, go to <Username>/Library/Preferences/ folder and delete the 'Adobe Contribute 5 Preferences' file.
If you have installed Contribute in Windows XP, the Contribute's Configuration folder will be in C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\. Delete the Contribute CS4 folder there. To clear the registry for Contribute, type 'regedit' in the Run window.(Click Start, and click Run, and then type 'regedit' in the text field.) Select HKEY_CURRENT_USER, then Software, then Adobe, then Contribute CS4. Click Delete button. Close the Registry Editor window.
The <username>, I have mentioned above is the name with which you will have logged into the machine.
Now, Relaunch Contribute and connect to your website and try editing the web pages from your website. Can you try this?

  • There is an Error that won't let me publish my website on iWeb.

I finally got a new host for my iWeb site after MobileMe shutting down.  Everything was set up fine and the website was back up and running.  I have since made changes but every time I go to publish using the FTP server a PUBLISH ERROR alert comes up and I cannot publish...I can't even publish to a folder as backup.
What does this mean and what can I do to fix it?

A family member is hosting my site and is not familiar at all with iWeb.  this is what he had to say though could be the problem.  I don't know what this means really but does it ring any bells for someone?
    He wrote:
The only thing I see is that you are maybe writing to the wrong folder. It looks like iWeb created a www.awakenproductions.org. Instead your files should just go to the main folder ‘/’.  Do you see a setting in iWeb where you can change this? Again, not that familiar with iWeb myself.
When I asked him what '/' means he wrote this:
The ‘/’ is what is called the root. I’m guessing iWeb has a setting to tell it what directory to put files in and it just needs to be / for that value.
Thoughts?!  I'm getting desperate to get the new info published...it's time sensitive.  Thanks!

  • I am wanting to publish a website created in iweb via a third party web host. How do I put a password for anyone wishing to visit the mysite?

I am wanting to publish a website created in iweb via a third party web host. How do I put a password for anyone wishing to visit the mysite?

You create the usernames and passwords where you host your website. Made with or without iWeb.
Usually it's done in the controlpanel where you manage your account.
If you cannot do it there, you'll have to do it yourself. See this post :
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/16014940#16014940
And what is the purpose of password protection for ANYONE who vistis your site?

  • How can I publish my website from iWeb?

I have created a Website on iWeb - but did not realize that I would not be able to publish via MobileMe. I cannot publish on a local folder. How can I get my site online?
    Thanks!

You will need to find a 3rd party webhost for your website, I have been using IX Webhosting for several years now with little to no problems "usually the problem was something I did" and they have been quick to solve any issue I have come across.

  • Cannot publish on Iweb

I have read several posts on this topic, yet none seem to apply to the basic issue of publishing a site.
Although I have opened an account with mobileme, I cannot publish my site through Iweb. Even though I have previously logged into mobile me, when trying to login to publish, it is continually rejected. It is also unbelievably frustrating not be able to reach anyone for help through mobileme.
    Thanks for any assistance

Welcome to the discussions. It may be easier to pinpoint the problem if you give a bit more detail about how you are logging in and what the rejection message says. Here's Apple's video tutorial on publishing to MobileMe:

Are you referring to MobileMe live chat support? ...It's now 24/7 — see this announcement. And this was in another thread:
Just got off of a MobileMe chat regarding this. The technician had me go into System Preferences and log in as "apple" with a password of "test." Once I got the invalid account notification, I logged back on with my user name and password. That seems to have cleared the issue.

I want to use the Web module to publish to the a website... What kind of server do I need to be able to publish my website?

You don't need a server, you just need a web hosting package such as the ones from GoDaddy or many other hosts. You then send the web gallery directly from LR to your web space.
As you're asking such basic questions, it might be best if you read articles like this and see if a friend or colleague can get you started.

I am not able to see toolbars, when I open a new window that window is not visible, if I open from bookmarks and there is music playing I hear it but canNOT SEE the websites. I was able to get window open from the help "window" and open sites from there just not from new: window tab or bookmarks those stay invisible? I tried the help suggestions, safemode, etc.

    Hi CMorenoOT,
This prompt is usually displayed when your Apple ID needs to be configured for the iTunes Store. You'll want to run through the additional steps to setup your country, and payment information.

Tip: If you are trying to create an account using an existing Apple ID, like your iCloud email address, you will receive a prompt telling you that your email address is already an Apple ID. Simply tap Continue, and then tap Use Existing Account on the following screen.
    - Next, you'll be required to enter your billing information. To choose a different Credit Card type, tap one of the available options, and then tap Done. You will not be charged until you make a purchase.
    - Once you've filled out all of the fields for your billing information, tap Next.

  • Publish the website to the root folder (without creating a new folder)

Hi there! Sure this problem has already been discussed here many times and I'm not the only one who's interested this question, but how can I publish my website using FTP without creating a new folder, just to the root folder of my web hosting? Is that even possible or should I each time drag all the files from the folder created by iWeb and put them to the root folder manually? I'm a little bit confused. Guys help me with this, please! Many thanks in advance!!

Yes, you're right, it has been discussed for the past several years and yes, you're not the only who's interested in that question.
A simple googe search confirms it : avoid iweb sitename
Try it, if you haven't done it already.

Install Portable Firefox 3.6.x to your hard drive for that one website. It won't affect your current Firefox installation at all. <br />
