Cannot Publish Slides from PowerPoint 2013 to SharePoint 2010 Slide Library

I have the 64-bit version of Windows 8 Release v1.0, Internet Explorer version 10 (10.0.9200.17183), Office 2013 Professional 32-bit, and a SharePoint 2010 environment.  I cannot publish slides to the SharePoint environment at all.  When
I attempt to do so from PowerPoint 2013, I receive an error indicating all slides (X of X) failed to upload.  When I attempt to use the option in the SharePoint 2010 Slide Library (Upload > Publish Slides) I receive the error of "This feature
requires Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007.  Either the application is not installed, or your browser is not configured to support ActiveX controls."
I have added the URL for the site in question to my "Trusted Sites" in Internet Explorer 10.  I read through the KB 2716529.  There is no TabProcGrowth registry entry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER, but there is one under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
and the value is set to "Medium" which appears to be accurate.  I tried running the "Fix it For Me" option offered with that KB, and the wizard indicated the problem could not be found on my computer.
How can I resolve this issue?  Utilizing slide libraries is a very important feature of SharePoint for my organization, and going back to Office 2010 is simply not an option.

Hi Jen_O,
According to your description, my understanding is that you were unable to publish Slides into SharePoint 2010 with Office 2013.
For narrowing this issue, let's verify the followings:
Please test on other machines with the same system configuration, compare the result.
Please test on other machines with 32-bit system and IE 10, compare the result.
Whether you are able to publish Slides from Windows 7 and Office 2013 32-bit.
Whether this issue occurres for all slide files with Office 2013.
Please create a new slide in PowerPoint 2013, and check if it could be uploaded into a new Slide library.
In addition,  Office Web Apps (as part of SharePoint 2010) allow SharePoint users to view and edit Office documents (Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.) from within the browser. Typically we can click on a link to a PowerPoint, for example in a document library,
and be taken to a new page to present PowerPoint.

  • Can't Publish Slides from PowerPoint 2013 to SharePoint 2010 Slide Library

    Hello all,
When I attempt to publish PowerPoint 2013 slides to a SharePoint 2010 Slide Library it informs me that it failed. I am able to publish PowerPoint 2010 slides without issue. All of my permissions are correct. Is it possible to publish PowerPoint 2013 slides
    to SharePoint 2010?
The weird thing is that while I can't publish, I can compile a new slide deck in PowerPoint 2013 using the "Copy slide to presentation" button in the slide library of my SharePoint 2010 site.
    Thanks!
    Kelly
    Personal Blog: http://thebitsthatbyte.com

When I get this error it is because SharePoint is not passing the credentials to the network share where the slide library is located. So when PowerPoint
tries to upload slides to SharePoint it is giving an error of unauthorized (because your credentials are not being passed correctly). Every part of SharePoint is essentially a network shared drive just like you have an internal network to share files between
employees. Assuming you are having the same problem for the same reason, here's the work around:
Set up a mapped network drive that goes to where the slide library is located. It should be something like this: \\sp.sharepoint.com@SSL\site\Sales\Slide Library
When you connect to this drive it will prompt you for a log in (just like SharePoint would)
Once you log in your credentials will be cached (until you reboot your system or it times out)
You can then publish to your PowerPoint slides to the library either directly through PowerPoint or by going to the upload slides option on SharePoint
The problem is it only last until you reboot. When you reboot it clears out your credentials then you have to log in again. I’m hoping someone can figure out why SharePoint is
not passing the credentials properly so we can have true fix to this issue. Until then, this will get you by.

  • Can't publlish slides from Powerpoint 2013 to sharepoint slide gallery

Just upgraded to office 2013 - previously had 2007.  I had no problems in the past publishing slides to my slide gallery in Sharepoint, or copying slides from the gallery to Powerpoint.  Now I can't publish and I can't copy to Powerpoint from sharepoint.
I have a couple slide libraries in my sharepoint... so when I go to publish from PowerPoint 2013 I browse and choose the right one
    https://[our server]/sales/2012%20Sales%20Slides/
Then hit publish... I'm trying this for a single slide only. When I do so I get the error:
1 of 1 slides that were being published to https://[our server]/sales/2012 Sales Slides/ filed.  Try publishing again.
When I try selecting slides from my gallery and hit the "Copy to Slide Presentation" button I get the error:
This feature requires Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.5 or later.
    I'm using IE9.  SharePoint 2007
    Please help.

I am having this same issue.. I have about 8 users that can't publish from PowerPoint 2013 to SharePoint 2010 but I also have a few that can. The interesting part is the ones that can publish were all upgrades rather than fresh installs. I created a fresh
VM of Windows 8 and Office 2013 and was unable to publish. However, when I uninstalled 2013 and installed 2010 on the same VM I was able to publish. I then upgraded to 2013 and was able to publish UNTIL I rebooted at which point I was unable to publish. The
frustrating part is there are no errors anywhere: event viewer, SP logs, Office UI, nothing.
Does anyone have any ideas? I am pretty much out.

  • Cannot edit JPG, GIF files stored in a SharePoint 2010 picture library

Created a SharePoint 2010 picture library to store .jpg, .gif images along with other types of images which were created using Adobe photoshop, Tiff etc.
Upon clicking on the .jpg, .gif files for editing purposes, they open in the browser instead of Photoshop so I cannot edit these files for this reason. Other types of image files are editable but not the jpg, gif files. File associations are already
in place for these files to open in Photoshop. Please advise.
    Thank you,

You can change the default application that opens while you click open document using DocIcon.xml which is present on the web front ends. Please look at this link which explains what you need to update in order to take care of your requirement.

  • Losing out custom metadata info of few documents of a document librarby when migrated from MOSS 2007 to Sharepoint 2010

We have recently migrated from moss2007 to sharepoint 2010.We have a document library containing large no. of documents in it  & for those documents there are some custom metadata columns apart from OOB library columns . We have user content DB attach
migration and after that we can see blank value under the custom columns for some records. However interesting point is we can see this metadata is showing for few documents.
    Please suggest.

    Hi,
What is your Office edition? When we create a managed metadata column in a Document Library, it will prompt that ‘Earlier versions of client programs might not support this type of column’. You should use Office 2010 to edit and create a document then save
    to document library .
For detailed information ,please refer to this article:

  • Migrate mailboxes from Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2010

    Hello,
We have a merger and would like to know if it is possible to migrate mailboxes from Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2010 in a cross-forest scenario.
Or should we first upgrade destination Exchange 2010 to 2013?
    Peteris

    Hi Peteris,
Based on my tests, we can move mailboxes from Exchange Server 2013 to Exchange server 2010. You can use the Prepare-MoveRequest.ps1 script in the EMS to prepare mailboxes for cross forest moves.
For more information about it, here is a helpful article for your reference.

  • Slow spooling and printing from Powerpoint 2013

Has anyone experienced slow spooling and printing of PowerPoint documents from PP 2013?
If I attempt to print the same document from PP2010, it spools and prints normally. It seems that the document background has something to do with slowness.
I saw an older KB where Microsoft suggested to disable background printing. Disabling background printing makes it even worse.
    Thanks
here is a link to a PowerPoint file
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/hle8x32j6wemday/SLOW.pptx?dl=0

    Hi,
Does this only happen with PowerPoint documents? What about other Office files? How many machines are affected by this issue?
Please first check whether you have the same print settings in PowerPoint 2013 and 2010.
Also, if this is a network printer, please try to add it as a local printer, then try again and see if issue persists.

  • Loading MySites profile photos from Exchange 2013 to Sharepoint 2013

    Hi
I've configured SharePoint 2013 to get it's profile photos from Exchange 2013 using the method in the link below BUT Is there way to force the initial sync other than requiring the user to load their profile in a browser?
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/jenstr/archive/2012/08/17/using-exchange-2013-preview-high-resolution-photos-from-sharepoint-server-2013-preview.aspx
    Thanks

As a workaround I have applied a client-side powershell load of the SharePoint thumbnail image.  This triggers the sync just like loading in a browser does. I run it hidden on the user PC.  I run it once a day for a while as for some reason
a load of the profile does not always trigger the sync and if it does not subsequent immediate sync's don't help - presumably due to the UserPhotoExpiration or
    UserPhotoErrorExpiration settings.
    Here's the code - enjoy....
    # script to trigger Sharepoint to download the high res photo from Exchange
    # sadly this must be done client side.
    # have PC management software copy the files to the local PC then run......
    # powershell.exe -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -noninteractive -File "%temp%\PhotoSync.ps1" >>"PhotoSync.log" 2>&1
    # All output will end up in the log file
    # the following syntax triggers the download (just find yours from your Sharepoint User profile photos)
    $username = [Environment]::UserName
    $userphoto = "https://people.myco.com/User%20Photos/Profile%20Pictures/" + $username + "_LThumb.jpg"
    write-host "$username : $userphoto"
    $web = New-Object system.Net.WebClient
    $web.UseDefaultCredentials=$true
    Try{
    $result = $web.Downloadstring($userphoto)
    Catch {

  • Cannot send mail from Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2007

    I have an
Exchange 2007server with all roles in the same server (Version:
08.03.0327.001 ) on a Windows 2008 R2 server. I have now installed two Exchange 2013 servers both with CAS and MBX roles on Windows 2012 servers
(full patched). There is also a DAG between the new servers. All mail goes through a BorderWare besides the internal mail.
I can send mail from both environments to the Internet. I can also send internal mail from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013.But the problem is that I am unable to send from Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2007. I've debugged, but not solved the problem and there are
    few articles on the Internet.
    Any suggestions?

These two sentences are in conflict : "I can also send

  • Cannot create dataset from claims based authentication sharepoint site in report builder 3.0

    Hi Foxvito,
Claims authentication types supported by SharePoint 2010 are Windows Claims, forms-based authentication Claims, and SAML Claims. In SAML-Claims mode, SharePoint Server accepts SAML tokens from a trusted external Security Token Provider (TST). From the
blog you referenced, it seems to use the SAML Claims authentication.
However, the Reporting Services client applications: Report Builder, the Report Designer in Business Intelligence Development Studio, and Management Studio do not support connecting and authenticating with LiveID or SAML Claims based SharePoint Web applications.
That's because the SAML Claims don't use the Reporting Services authentication endpoint. So, you have to change the Claims authentication type to use Report Builder on the SharePoint site.

According to your post, an error occurred when you used the custom Documents Library(List Definition using sandbox solution).
Please check whether you have removed <ContentTypeRef/> in the <ContentTypes/> tag of Schema.xml file in your project.
