Anyone know how to fix the 5002 error (cannot purchase music from i Tunes)? What's this error about? I searched and couldn't find it on the support page. This is extremely annoying.

Hello, I just solved my "Error 5200" problem by following these instructions to repair the permissions of the iTunes Music Folder:

I hope this helps other people!

  • HT204088 can we manage our account, so my daughter cannot purchase music from her Ipod?

Can we manage our account, so my daughter cannot purchase music from her Ipod ?

You can hide the iTunes store app on her iPod via Settings > General > Restrictions > iTunes 'off' - that will remove the app and therefore stop hre buying things from it.

I cannot buy music currently as I am being asked to answer security questions due to it being supposedly "the first time I have bought form this PC". This is not the case. I have now changed my password and security questions, but it is asking me the same when I try to buy again.

First off, the name of your computer is only the way it is becuase the Apple user is the first one they created after repairing the Mac. Go into Sharing System Preferences and change the name to whatever you like.
Can you explain how you did this:
This didn't seem right so I went in to it and changed the computer so that it would recognise me as the Owner/Administrator.
You can delete the Apple user in Users & Groups System Prefs. Select that user and delete it. It will ask if you want to save the user data or delete it. If you archive it, you can always delete it later and it will be available if you need to recover that account for some reason--I doubt this will be necessary. After deleting the account, and when you feel you are still working normally, you could delete that archived user folder.
I have also never seen anything ask for that. It does sound like an Epson thing, but without having access to it, I couldn't tell you for sure.
Here's what I would try. Create a new User and give them admin rights. Log in as that user and see what happens with the installer. If it still complains, it is an Epson issue. My guess is it is looking for user id 501, the first user created. If it works, then something is indeed odd about your account. If so, use that new admin account to disable Admin privileges for your account, then re-enable it. This is done in the Users & Groups system prefs.

  • I down loaded a new version of Itunes and now I cannot purchase music. It keeps asking to verify my account info which I have many times. Help!

I down loaded the new version of Itunes and now it will not allow me to purchase music. I have alidated my account information many times. Now it keeps asking me to do it over and over again.
I have had my account for a long time.

Do you currently have a credit card set up in your iTunes store Enter Payment Information screen?
If so, grab a recent statement for that card and check to make sure that the address that shows up in your Enter Payment Information screenexactly matches the address showing on your credit card statement. For example, if your address in the credit card statement says "Street", the iTunes screen has to also say "Street" (Not St or Str.) Also match the capitalisation of the address on your statement. (If it says STREET in the statement make it say STREET in the iTunes screen, not Street or street.)
Also make sure that your name in the iTunes screen exactly matches the one in your statement. (Say, if you've got a middle initial in the credit card statement name, you need one in the iTunes screen.)
After doing that, does that get you past the invalid address thing?
If not, there's some additional suggestions in the following post:

  • Error (-50) cannot purchase music at this time

Help! I've been trying do download music the past several weeks and each time I choose "download song" it prompts me to pay, but then i get an error message (-50) that says "itunes cannot proceed with purchase at this time. this is an itunes error. please try again later." then, when i click on my "downloads" folder under "STORE" in iTunes, it lists the song title then "stopped (err=-5000)"
any ideas? I've already verified that I have the latest version of itunes, 7.0.2
    help!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you!!!!!!!!!!

This is a terrible customer experience for Apple users. I have been dealing with this same issue since April 2012; all used to work just fine and then suddenly -- "Cannot send message" error appears.
When is Apple going to fix this? I have two iPads and an iPhone but often need to access files from my PC (next time, it'll be a Mac),
    Very frustrating.

  • Cannot purchase music from store

Okay, iTunes version 7 irked me so much that I went back to version 6.0.1.3. It works.
However, I want to buy music videos. It won't let me because I "need to update iTunes". I'm not doing it. I've seen the problems other people are having from 7.0.1. There's no way I'm going to risk my music library and PC security for a program I honestly don't believe will work.
If version 7.0.1 has worked fine for you, let me know. Is there a way I can simply get around updating iTunes? I really want to buy some new videos..
Apple is really starting to anger me..

I'm wanting an answer to this also. My ibook G4 800 ran like crap with itunes7(minimum req. is 1 GHz) so I downgraded to 6.0.5-and now I can't make purchases either! I bought season passes a while back (before itunes 7) and I got the first couple episodes , but now it won't download them anymore-says I need '7!!!! I am really ticked!!!

    Hello hevcheer,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
You can sync purchases from a ipod to computer.

  • HT201272 Cannot purchase music

Have iTunes account, $, & wifi but can only preview music, not purchase.

How do you contact iTunes support? Every time I try it takes me to the Apple site and it ask me for my serial number on my ipod. When I give my serial number it says that it is no longer under warranty. So now what? Do you have a simple answer for this.

  • Cannot purchase Music- Recieving error 5002

I tried downloading music last night and it came up with an error 5002 so this morning, after the computer had been turned off for the night I went back in to the music store and it works all the way until it says purchasing. What's going on? I've never had this problem before.

    On AT&T with a 920.
I set up a  Nokia account for the forum, later I added a payment method and started buying singles.  Then it was changed to MixRadio+. I didn't spring for the 3.99 service but I can still buy singles with the phone. Before I could buy singles and albums using the PC. Now you just see mixes.
I do all account setup on the PC. http://www.mixrad.io/us/en/
There is all kinds of help on the help link above. They fixed a login problem for me.

  • Cannot purchase Music From iTunes Store

    Hi,
I have an iMac indigo running OS X 10.2.3 and iTunes 4.7.1. I recently drank 5 bottles of coke and entered the promotion codes into the iTunes store to get my 5 free songs. My account registered that I had 5 song downloads available. I went to choose my first song and was told that I had to upgrade to iTunes 7, which requires OS X 10.3.9.
I don't have OS X 10.3.9 or iTunes 7 and had no plans to upgrade as my iMac does everything I need.
Does this mean I am now excluded from purchasing songs from the iTunes store?

I'm wanting an answer to this also. My ibook G4 800 ran like crap with itunes7(minimum req. is 1 GHz) so I downgraded to 6.0.5-and now I can't make purchases either! • I cannot purchase music on itunes

The itunes is telling me that there is not enough memory to purchase a song. My computer has plenty of memory on the hard drive. I do not understand. This is very frustrating.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Do you mean memory or hard disk space? To verify available disk space, Control click your MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop, then click: *Get Info*. In the Get Info window, click the black arrow next to General so it faces down. Capacity and Available will be displayed there. You need a minimum of 10% free disk space just to boot a Mac. So if your free drive space is about 10 to 15% of the total drive, then that's a problem. You need to transfer documents/images/video/ to an external source in order to free up disk space.

  • TS3297 itunes 10.6.1 now asking for 3 security questions. After input I get "error in the itunes store -1202". I cannot purchase from the store.

Running Vista Ultimate. Itunes 10.6.1 is now asking to answer 3 security questions before accessing the store. After entry I get "error in the itunes store -1202" I cannot purchase music at this point. Any help is appreciated.

This problem is resolved. I deleted the old iTunes (with write permissions turned on for my account) and reinstalled successfully. Removing the deleted iTunes from Trash was troublesome even with root but after playing around with permissions and flags, I was able to remove it.
