Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime 7.2 (the previous version)
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime72forwindows.html
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698
If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
restart your PC
Install iTunes, then uninstall Quicktime using the method in the above article (just Quicktime)
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698
Now install Quicktime 7.2
The rational behind this is that many people have found that the latest iTunes will work with Quicktime 7.2.

Are you in an area where there is no coverage?
You can try a reset, hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
If that doesn't help, then yOu'll need to contact Sprint again.

  • Can't install iTunes updates or even uninstall/reinstall program - help!

I'm running iTunes 10.1.2.17 on XP but cannot upgrade to latest version. Neither can I uninstall and reinstall from scratch. Despite closing all other programs, I keep getting a message saying, 'the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.' It then says, 'click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi'. I've tried uninstalling it using the XP Control Panel and also Piriform's CCleaner but either way I hit the same problem. Here's hoping someone can advise! Thanks!

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Using Windows 7 tried to upgrade to Firefox v4.0. Computer must be restarted to complete the upgrade. Done that 6 times. Same result. Can't even uninstall Firefox to reinstall. What to do? Wish I had stuck to earlier version.

The icon on the taskbar is not the usual Firefox one. It is like an installation one. In short, I cannot open Firefox (I am having to use Internet Explorer to gain access to the Internet), I cannot get it to install properly and I am unable to uninstall it to start again with an earlier version. Every time that I attempt to open Firefox, I get the following message: "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade [v4.0] of Firefox. Do you want to reboot now?" I have tried that half a dozen times with the same result. I have also used system restore to get back to an earlier status. that, too failed to resolve the Firefox problem.

It is probably because you are not properly closing Firefox. Restarting your system would make sure that Firefox had terminated, but you do not have to do that.
To properly close Firefox on Windows systems, use
:File > Exit or "Firefox:" button > Exit
When you get the message "Firefox is already running" it is too late, and you must force termination of Firefox through the Windows Task Manager before restarting Firefox. Windows 7 has a keyboard shortcut to save you a step "Ctrl+Shift+Esc" then on "Processes" tab, select "firefox.exe" and use the "End Process" button. More thorough would be to right-click on the "firefox.exec" and choose "End Process Tree".
You would find firefox.exe in a Mozilla folder in your program files, but y0u would not want to delete it there, you would need to use the Control Panel which you have already identified and do it from there -- but generally you would not need to do that, and there is nothing in what you have posted to indicate that you should. But if you did do that, then don't let the install start Firefox for you as you would want to use you existing desktop icon or method of starting Firefox, and should decline having Firefox install start Firefox for you. When the install starts then invoke Firefox in your normal manner. This should eliminate problems of creating a new profile rather than using your old profile.

  • Since downloading 4.0 none of my window vista programs will open so I can't even uninstall the firefox. Help

None of my Microsoft windows will open, I get the message windows explorer stopped working, you need to update windows, which it will not allow me to do, can't get into control panel, or anything. The only thing different I can think I did recently was to upload to 4.0 firefox. I just want to uninstall, and of course can't.

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!

  • Since yesterday mozilla has been freezing my laptop, it won't even let me uninstall it. Evertime I click on a bookmark it freezes right up. Can't even uninstall

The details are in my question. I can not use Mozilla at all. I open the web browser and as soon as I click on any saved book mark my whole pc freezes. I have to hold the start up button to shut it down (and that is not good for my laptop). I tried to uninstall and it will not, keeps freezing. Tried to open in safe mode and if freezes again. I've used Mozilla for probably 6 years can you please suggest something to fix this or I will have to use another browser.
    Thanks

If you recently did a windows update then do a system restore and see if when you restore it works if than uninstall mozilla do your windows update and reinstall mozilla that should fix the problem.

  • Installed Cs4 - can I now uninstall cs2?

I recently installed CS4 upgrade on my laptop and would now like to uninstall the version of CS2 that I have been using.
Will removing CS2 remove any shared files that are necessary for CS4 to work properly?
The reason for removing CS2 is that I am quickly running out of available disk space on drive C.
As a side question,  is it possible to delete CS4 from my laptop and re-install it on my D drive (how wil that affect my activation?)?
Thanks in advance for any and all help

It is not advisable to install Photoshop anywhere but  C:\Program files. Some have done it, but many have had problems.
If you want more space on C:\ move stuff off it and clear out all temp files and other accumulated junk (there is normally a lot!)
Get an external drive for your image files.

  • Trying to load/upgrade to OS X / Yosemite; "Installer" sticks @ 22 min. mark & states it "Cannot be installed". Can't get rid of Program Download - i.e. can't "Quit" the Program (it says "Restart", but 'cycles' process!)

Very frustrated!!! Application Download will NOT 'Quit' or 'Cancel' (after getting 'stuck' @ 22 min. of 'Install'). Instructions say to 'Restart' in order to quit, but all it does is 're-cycle' the process! I would very much like to 'STOP'/'CANCEL' the Download, so that I can seek another Upgrade Option.....HELP!!!!!

PS:  The Mac folder where Postbox stores it's messages is inside the Library folder inside your User folder.  Normally, the Library folder is invisible.  To make it visible in Finder, I did what it said here:

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATION" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up").
In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC. Now try another QuickTime install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Leopard cannot be installed?

I was trying to install Leopard (because it's supposed to be better than Tiger), but when restarting, using the boot CD, everything works fine until after the language selection window, in which it says that Leopard cannot be installed. Can someone give me a list of reasons of why this might happen?

I am trying to install Leopard on my Power Mac G5. I am currently running 10.4.9 I have 2 hard drives installed - a Mac and a Hitachi. I have the retail Leopard install disc.
When I insert the Leopard install disc I don't get beyond step ONE! I double click on 'restart' and the Leopard install disc spins away in the DVD drive but after letting it run for 1.5 hours all I have is a gray screen with the pointer in it. The pointer moves with the mouse so this isn't a true freeze - I think you might call it a 'hang'. I.E. I never get to the 'choose location' screen. I have verified the permissions on my hard drive.
Can anyone tell me what's up?
    THANKS to all.
