  • Re-Installing HP Support Assistant

My PC is an HP G5350UK running Windows 7 64 bit
I am trying to re-instal HP Support Assistant but have, so far, been unsuccessful.
I downloaded and tried to run both sp44304.exe and sp58919.exe which have been suggested in different HPSA links.  I am prompted to overwrite the files which I do but then nothing happens.  Apparently I should be prompted to select "Yes" and allow the program to restart the computer.  Unfortunately nothing happens.
Does anyone have any ideas please?

    Hi,
    You're welcome
I still believe this issue is being caused by either an incomplete removal of a previous version of HPSA, or a corruption of the registry keys responsible for configuring the installation.
    Try the following.
Download the installer for the latest version of HPSA again from the following link and save it to your Downloads folder.
    HP Support Assistant - 58919.
When done, open your Downloads folder and as before, right click the installer, select 7-zip, select extract files and then click Ok.  Open the newly extracted sp58919 folder and you'll see another installer called Setup - right click this and again, select 7-zip, select extract files and then click Ok.  Open the newly extracted Setup folder, right click the bottom file titled UninstallHPSA application ( with a size of 112Kb ) and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the uninstall routine.
You will probably see no visual sign that this is running, so leave the PC alone for a good 10 minutes - When done, restart the PC.
When windows has reloaded, clear your Downloads folder of all the HPSA installers and extracted folders, then download the following version and save it to your Downloads folder.
    HP Support Assistant - 44304.
When done, open your Downloads folder, right click the installer, select 7-zip, select extract files and then click Ok.  Open the newly extracted sp44304 folder, right click the bottom file titled UninstallHPTCA application ( with a size of 406Kb ) and select 'Run as Administrator' to start this uninstall routine.
Again, you will almost certainly see no visual sign that this is running, so leave the PC alone for a good 10 minutes - When done, restart the PC again.
Let windows fully load, then see if you can use Recovery Manager to reinstall your original version of HP Support Assistant - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the document on the link below.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 7
Does this version install Ok and if so, does it run correctly when launched?

  • HP Support Assistant - Uninstalled and Reinstalled - Now it won't Work at all!

My HP Support Assistant was sticking on Creating Restore Point.   Well, I followed your instructions for this that was posted in numerous other threads and uninstalled HP Support Assistant and re-installed it, and now it won't do anything.  It opens up and the NEXT button is not highlighted so if I click on it nothing happens...it's totally worthless now.  What can I do to make it work again???  HELP!! (see image below - all I can do is minimize, enlarge or close that screen.  NEXT button does nothing!)
My computer is only 1 year old and I run Windows 8 - 64 bit.  Never had a problem with it before, but tried the Tune up and it was stuck on the restore point, so I followed your instructions, re-booted after un-installing and uninstalling, now it won't do anything.   I also tried restoring HP Support Assistant from the Recovery Manager and it's still doing the same thing - nothing.  How am I supposed to get my updates now???
    I have an HP Pavilion p6 2310.  I haven't installed Windows 8.1, it's just Windows 8.  Thank you.

Did you first go to the Control Panel and make sure that the HP Support Assistant software was not listed (uninstalled)?

  • Re-install HP Support Assistant

HP Desktop IE9, Home Premium, P7-1210, Win 7.
My HP Support Assistant stopped working.  I uninstalled, using Microsoft Fixit successfully.  Now I'd like to re-install.  What's the easiest way to do this?  I went to http://h18021.www1.hp.com/helpandsupport/hp-support-assistant.html where Win 7 is listed, but I don't see any prompt for Win7.  The first prompt seems to be below the line for Vista, which I do not have.   Can you help me?  (maybe I could "recover" but can't find "recovery manager" by doing search of programs.)

  • HP Pavilion g7 can't find or re-install HP Support Assistant & HP Solution Center

After a week or so ago, I discovered my printer could no longer scan. Made several (& I mean several) attempts at following the instructions to install the full driver for my HP Photosmart C7180 printer.
I then ordered the full drive CD for Window 7 (64) from HP and I am still having problems.
After going around and around trying to get it to work; uninstalling and re-installing everything listed in the Support & Downloads on the HP website. I discovered both my HP Support Assistant and my HP Solution Center are no longer on my computer. They won't re-install either following the instructions per HP Support & Download on HP's website.
I have no clue how to get things straightened out.
The most frustrating thing is there seems to be many other people with printer/scan problems even with other printers. Everything I have read so far as a solution to their problems is the same thing I have been trying to do.
    Someone please enlighten me?

  • HP Support Assistant stopped working after HP Network Check Helper was installed

My computer model: HP Pavilion SlimLine s5-1160 desktop with Windows 7 64-bit Media Center
While I was away from my computer this morning HP installed HP Network Check Helper. When I returned there was a message that I needed to restart the computer. Upon restarting I received the same message. After trying several more times I disabled the helper using Manage Add-ons, but the restart computer message keeps appearing. When I tried to open HP Support Assistant it would not open, but instead the restart message popped up. In HP Setup Manager I clicked on Get Assistance, then Launch Support Assistant, and got....the restart message. If I open HP's Windows Help and Support and click on "Contact Support (Get in touch with someone at HP)" I get....the restart message. I re-installed HP Support Assistant with the latest version on the the HP website. Upon restarting the computer I got....the restart message.
So, the computer keeps telling me I need to restart it, HP Support Assistant will not open, and I can't obtain an HP support number to call by clicking on "Contact Support (Get in touch with someone at HP)". Does anyone know a number I can call to "Get in touch with someone at HP"?
    Thanks.

    Commentary
Depending on the underlying cause of the problem, the HPSA (HP Support Assistant) may never be able to install the updates on your particular system.  The problem could be a server problem, it could be the Internet path the data has to take to get to your part of the planet, it might be your Internet provider  that, at any particular moment in time, is not cooperating, it is possible that your computer is having RPC issues due to outdated drivers, File System errors --- whatever.
IF you find and fix whatever mystery is causing the root cause of the prlblem, then Voila!  The install portion of the program may work.
This wonderful program works for millions of people -- and yet it does not work for many deserving folks who have done nothing wrong and who do not know why it does not work for them.
Make sure your Windows Updates are current.
Create a Restore Point:   Create a Restore Point – Win7 OR  Create a restore point Win8
    Next:
Close all your programs and shut down your computer
Shut down and Switch off any other computers in the network
Switch off any printers on the network
    Switch off the Router
Disconnect everything on this computer (little Unifier for the keyboard / external mouse can stay)
Perform the Hard Reset for your notebook model
Switch on the router - wait at least thirty seconds for the router to boot.
Boot the computer and log in
Reminder:  Hard Reset is just a device Reset.  The procedure does not wipe out your files nor does it destroy your Windows setup in any way.  It just "clears the cobwebs".  Depending on the cause of the problem, this kind of "reset" can fix a variety of computer glitches.
This exercise is unlikely to fix the problem; it might do so if the problem is minor and related to stuck instructions or minor temporary link or device issues.
    Suggested Workaround to the problem
You can use the Patch list provided by HPSA and then open your computer's website to find, download, and install the drivers and software you want to update.
NOTE:  Please see the Comments below before you Update your BIOS.   Please do not update the BIOS unless it is necessary and your computer is fully backed up beforehand.

    Commentary -- BIOS Updates
It is this Expert's opinion that you should not depend on HP Support Assistant when it comes to BIOS updates.
Depending on other factors in the system at the time the HPSA tries to hit your system with an update of this type; the results might be ... other than expected.
You might set HPSA to "Notify" to prevent it from trying to update your BIOS.
ONLY update the BIOS when you see an update in your computer's webpage AND that update can be used to provide a fix for an issue you have discovered in your system.  In other words:  If your computer is happy, do not update the BIOS just because you think it would be a nice thing to do to it.
If you decide to update your BIOS,
Make sure ALL your backups are current and complete - this means everything you need to restore the system in the event that something goes wrong.
Understand that even when you do everything exactly right, you can end up with a bricked computer, that is, an expensive paper weight.
Make sure you have at least your critical data on some form of external backup.
Disconnect USB drives and any other unnecessary hardware.  Keyboard and mouse can stay connected.
Always run in AC power when updating the BIOS, never on the notebook battery
Do not touch the system while the update is in progress
Optional: Leave wireless button ON. You might switch off the router to assure there are no interruptions.

    Hello,
I got this message "Mac OS X Server 10.6 cannot be installed on this machine" when i was trying to install the Mac os x server on a Macbook Pro. The Macbook pro has 4GB memory and a intel 2.2 Ghz Intel core 2 Duo.
I understand that the min requirements was an intel processor and 2GB RAM?
So anybody know why it won't install on my macbook pro?
    TIA

It's not officially supported, but it will install. That's probably not the problem here.
FWIW, Last time I tried this with SLS, the install balked, and I didn't bother wiping the disk to install it.

    Hi,
    Try the following
First of all, uninstall your current version of HP Support Assistant by using the Microsoft 'Fixit' on the following link - this is particularly useful in correcting issues that may prevent reinstallation on machines running a 64bit OS.
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
When this has completed, restart the notebook.
Next download and install the latest version of HP Support Assistant from the page on the link below - the download links are towards the bottom of the page.
    http://h18021.www1.hp.com/helpandsupport/hp-support-assistant.html
After the installation, restart the notebook again.

  • "Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer," bs!

Please help. I am trying to install Mavericks on an iMac with a 6,1 identifier number and 10.6.8 installed and up-to-date. WHY does it say, "Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer," when I try to get it? I meet at least three specs to be able to download, so I cannot understand what the trouble is?  Can anyone elighten me?  It's pretty annoying.  I'm trying to like Macs.  I'm a PC girl, and this is the same BS I come to you with from PCs.  I thought Macs were better?  ;-)

Sorry, but your iMac is too old to install Mavericks.
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)

    Your Mac also needs:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space
If you wish, you can upgrade to OS X 10.7 Lion
    OS X Lion system requirements
To use Lion, make sure your computer has the following:
An Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
Mac OS X v10.6.6 or later to install via the Mac App Store (v10.6.8 recommended).

It would be very prudent to create a backup of your system and important data before embarking on a major systems upgrade.
