Cannot read CD or DVD built for region 4

Compaq Presario C762NR Notebook PC that's my machine with Windows 7 - 32
I have few CDs - DVDs built for region 4 (South America) with soft wares that the hard drive cannot read at all.
I had change the CD drive configuration to region 4, WINDOWS 7 system locale, and all remaining configuration to Brazil standard.
Neverthe less, the CD - DVD continues to refuse reading the disks.
Is there any missing configuration to change and free the CD-DVD drive?

You said your Region 4 on the drive but what are the format region of the dvd media itself? It sounds like your trying to read media that is for another region and thus it can't read it. Or second the drive is no longer working and when was the last time your did  a firmware update to the OD itself?? Or update the laptop firmware to the latest firmware?

  • Cannot read the next data row for the data set

    Hi,
My report runs fine when I view in VS, data shows fine when I run the query in the data window, but when I publish it to the server, I get the above error. I am running SQL server 2005 RTM and I have re-deployed the entire solution.
    Any ideas?

    Hi All,
Upon investigation found that there was an issue with converting varchar value to datatime datatype in Stored Procedure and that is why report was throwing error.
I ran same report in BIDS and got clear error message
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot read the next data row for the dataset xxx. (rsErrorReadingNextDataRow)
The conversion of a varchar datatype to a datetime datatype resulted in an out-of-range value
Once I corrected this, It is working fine.

  • RsProcessingAborted Cannot read the next data row for the dataset rsErrorReadingNextDataRow

This is a pretty generic exception.  I thought I would post this note as my searches for a solution were not very helpful.
In my case the error was due to a recurring deadlock due to a missing database option for Read Committed Snapshot on this new subscriber database.
Turning on Verbose Logging revealed: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Transaction (Process ID 89) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction.
Adding this to RsReportServer.Config (remove comments) did the trick.

  • Cannot read dual CD/DVD

My wife received a copy of Eric Clapton's 'Back Home' dual CD/DVD, where one side is a CD, the other a DVD. I am unable to import either side into iTunes. The CD side seems unreadable - Windows just whirs then shows nothing on the CD. The DVD side has nothing that iTunes can import.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks.
    George

I bought the Chris Botti "To Love Again" DualDisc today and the cd side imports into iTunes PC version, just like any cd, unfortunately the DVD side doesn't play with Quicktime and I wish that it did....I hate even opening Windows Media Player up...

  • Cannot read DVD+R with GWA 4080M firmware AA26 (macbook pro 1.1)

    Hi everybody,
I have a macbook pro 1.1 with a drive GWA 4080M (firmware AA26). Since a few weeks I cannot read anymore some DVD+R (Sony DVD+R media code D21).
    1) One of these media burned with my other macbook pro (2.2 drive Matshita UJ-857D firmware KCVB) using the finder (so ISO9660,joliet,UDF and mode 1, booktype DVD-ROM) cannot be read on the MBP 1.1 - The same DVD is properly read on other mac or PC even on my old dell PC of 2003). I used the finder to burn it.
    2) The very same media burn (data), burned using the finder as well, are read if burned by an other burner (Mac quad core, with SONY DVD RW DW-D150G). The disk seems to be similar (ISO9660,joliet,UDF, mode 1, booktype to DVD-ROM).
Actually the bitsetting (I learn what it was from wikipedia yesterday) seems to be done by default on mac (both of the burner).
    3) A DVD+R (still same media) is burned properly on the MBP 1.1 with GWA 4080M drive, and readable everywhere.
    4) The Matshita UJ-857D has not received the superdrive 2.1 update (if applicable, that seems to triggers problems). I experience no problem in burning or reading with this drive except this one.
I tried to reset the I repaired the permissions (there was nothing to be done anyway), I also reset PRAM and NVRAM (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238)
    and SMC
    (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319)
    and it did not helps
Last point the problem is the same under windows (bootcamp) and mac!
I would be very grateful if someone has a suggestion to fix or at least!
    Thank you in advance

    my same problem..
how come we can't get an answer on this?

  • Problems reading Mac OS DVDs after installing 10.4.11

OK - I guess I should have read the many posts out there about the problems with this software update. However, I did not and now am encountering two bizarre problems. Perhaps someone out there can help.
I own a Macbook and downloaded 10.4.11 this morning. Everything was running just fine until then. Now I have two problems:
    1) it cannot read Mac OS DVDs (neither the new Leopard disks I just got, nor the original backups of 10.4.9 that came with the macbook). The disks are fine and can be read without a problem by my iMac. The drive on the macbook is fine since it can read other DVDs (e.g., iLife 08 DVD, movie DVDs). It seems to be limited to OS 10.4 and 10.5 installation CDs.
    2) a smaller but also annoying thing is that my apple-supplied stocks widget is reading wrong stock prices.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.
    Derrick

  • Hello, I would like to import dvd film to iMovie to cut it. but I movie says that quicktime cannot read it (-2048) What can I do?

Hello, I would like to import dvd film to iMovie to cut it. but iMovie says that quicktime cannot read it (-2048) What can I do? thanks for an answer!

You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
(unless you are running Lion in which case see below))
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
And from the TOU of these forums:
    Keep within the Law
No material may be submitted that is intended to promote or commit an illegal act.
Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise ‘work around’ digital rights management software or hardware. This includes conversations about ‘ripping’ DVDs or working around FairPlay software used on the iTunes Store.
    If you are running Lion:
    From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it.
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.

  • Cannot Read Files off CD/DVD Drive

I realize there are several similarly titled posts on this topic, but I have not found the problem I have.  Computer: Pavilion tx2000CTO.  O/S:  Vista Home Premium (all updates current).
Issue:  Some CD's and DVD's cannot be read completely.  I CAN navigate the directory structure.  I CAN see the files.  I CANNOT open them.  When I attempt to open from the DVD drive, nothing happens.  No errors or other messages.  When I attempt to copy to the HDD, I get the error "cannot read from the source file or disk".  This does not happen on all disks, but I cannot find any pattern between when i can or cannot read.  All of these disks are readable on other systems.
Note:  similar for media files or disks.  Some readable, some not.
    Thanks for your help!

I mean raw format, though you mean your disc is mounted, however you can't read the files on the disc?

  • DVD drive cannot read some of my data dvd's

When I put in some of my data dvd, it reads it as a blank media.
It is strange. I can read data of the exact same DVD in another mac computer.
The problem is I can read some, but some I cannot read. Burning is no problem / no errors.
Any thoughts would be great! Thanks

    Wow, that's interesting.
I haven't had a problem with reading discs in my Powerbook (yet to really use the DVD drive in my MBP), but my old 1999-vintage iMac DVSE with it's DVD-ROM drive often won't read burned DVDs. It has no trouble with commercial discs, or burned CD-Rs, but it fails to read DVDs on a seemingly random basis. Indeed, I had been importing video on my Dad's G5, and burned it to DVD-R (Verbatim). The iMac wouldn't read the discs, while all our other DVD reading Macs would.
I wonder if it's not the write strategy? I know different drives/applications have various methods for burning discs. See Wikipedia's optical disc article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opticaldiscdrive

    Hi Ghanshyam,
Did you want to deploy the product key in unattend file? please try to move the product key node in the unattend file, please note backup this .xml file before editing.
If there are not bulk servers to activate, I recommend you can use "slui" to manually enter product key after install.
If there is anything else regarding this issue, please feel free to post back.

  • Cannot read CD-Rs but can read DVDs

    I cant understand this...
Regardless or not if a CD-R is factory burned, burned by myself (in the past)or is unburned - my computer cannot read the disc and spits it out. Any kind of DVD I put in there it reads fine. I am running 10.5.4. The funny thing is, they did work... after i initially installed the system i used some of the CDs to install apps. Any thoughts?
PS: The CD work fine on my other machines and none of them are scratched.
This is what my system has to say about the factory drive:
    MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857E:
    Firmware Revision: ZA0E
    Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
    Cache: 2048 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
Media: Insert media and refresh to show available burn speeds

I have been reading these forums for a while. I have the exact same computer drive and firmware on my MBP. I read that the issue is the drive (however this was last year and can't source the info, but I did a lot of research on the subject, just never acted on it). The MBP I have also had a bad battery as well, and Apple replaced it because they admitted that a large series of MBPs were installed with this bad battery, just like Apple put in a bad drive. If your computer is still under warranty, I would take it to Apple's Genius Bar and they can run check to see if it falls under Apples' "recall" computers and they should replace it. They did that for my battery.
However I never did the drive because I assumed they would have to hold my computer to do it and I couldn't give it up since it was my computer I used to work on my MBA.

  • Optical drive cannot read DVD-RW after burning?

All of a sudden my built-in optical drive (Matshita UJ-857) appears to have lost the ability to mount burned DVD-RWs. I'm using Sony 1-2x media which burn & verify successfully. Following the burn, the DVD-RWs show up on the Desktop and can be browsed in Finder. However, once ejected, the drive cannot mount them again - they spin up for around 30 seconds before being ejected.
Other media (DVD, DVD-R, DVD+R, CD, CD-R & CD-RW) work fine; DVD+RW requires 2~3 inserts before it mounts. I've done PRAM & PMU reset, same results. Is my drive failing?

I can view the same disk/photos on my old L300
There are any number of special so-called packet writing programs which create discs readable only by the same program. If you use the built-in DVD burning for Windows Vista (especially with Mastered format), that problem would not occur.
       Burn a CD or DVD
So you should either reburn the DVDs using the Vista machine or copy the pictures to the new machine (probably over your network) and burn new DVDs from there.
When you post here, always tell us the full model designation of your computers. Which Satellite Pro L330? Which Satellite Pro C660? That way we can look up what your machines look like.
