Cannot read chinese in gmail

I have setup a gmail mailbox in my iPhone 3GS, however, Chinese characters inside the mail become symbol....
Please advise how I can fix it. Thanks.

Most likely it is an encoding problem, and there is no way to select Mail encodings on an iPhone. You could try switching your OS to Chinese, if it is not already that way.
Does it work if you use webmail instead of Mail?

It looks the file names are in the wrong encoding. Where did you get them? I'm sure your computer can read Chinese, for example this web page:

It depends what character encoding you used for the Chinese.
I don't use
ColdFusion, but I understand that it outputs everything in
UTF-8
encoding. To override this, you need to use a
<cfcontent> tag:

Anyone got this experience? All chinese in the pdf is blank in the Mail of iPhone. I can read it in my macbook.

Cannot read chinese characters

I have a file which has chinese characters. Reading it via READ DATASET is giving some junk characters. I tried Legacy mode. But to no avail.

Mail cannot read Chinese characters. Message looks like a series of "??????". However, Safari can read Chinese characters. What setting can make Mail read Chinese Characters?

Normally that indicates an encoding glitch, where the email headers are not telling Mail the right encoding to use. The first thing to try is Message > Text Encoding and see if UTF-8 or one of the various Chinese encodings give the right display.
Also go to View > Message > Raw Source and tell us what you see in the headers that say "charset= ".

Reading Chinese with Curve 3G

I understand this topic has been discussed, but the solutions provided were unable to solve the problem.
I have BB Curve 3G (9300) with Mobilicity and upgraded to OS 6, but I still cannot read Chinese... so is there any apps or language pack I can download?

Cannot diplay chinese properly.

My application need to display chinese , eng and korea etc.
The situation is it cannot display chinese character properly.
I have a set of properties file(s) - message.properties, message_zh_TW.properties....etc
So, I just want to make sure how can I created the properties file(s)?
If I run it on windows 2000, do I need to change the locale setting/default language in order to generate the message_zh_TW.properties?
Does the properties files are in UTF-8 format?

I have worked with Chinese Java Swing GUI and JSP web based application. For GUI, I have used unicode resourcekey properties file. But, For JSP web appilcation, I am using actuall chinese characters in resourcekey file.
If you are going to use actual chinese characters, You have to install language support (locales) to your windows 2000 o/s. That will make easy to type chinese charcters in normal notepad.

After TB 31.5.0 cannot send or receive gmail. Spinning status wheel. Server timeout.

Updated to 31.5.0 and now cannot send or receive gmail from my desktop. Message is that the server timed out and there is a spinning status wheel. Windows 8.1. Tried reinstalling, rebooting, running TB in safe mode, turning off Win firewall, disabling Avast system security, compacting folders. I can get/send mail at the gmail website and on my iPhone so the problem appears to be specific to Thunderbird 31.5.0 My laptop has an older version of TB and it does not have the problem. Luckily I was able to shut it down before TB 31.5.0 could automatically download.

Can't get Acrobat 9.3.2 to read Chinese characters or install Chinese fonts

(Please read what I've done already before suggesting solutions.)
I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9.3.2 on Windows XP Professional with administrator privileges, and I just cannot get it to read PDFs in simplified Chinese. (Apparently the Asian fonts weren't installed when my IT people installed Acrobat.) I've downloaded and installed FontPack90_zh_CN.msi. No use. I have gone into Add/Remove Programs, gone to "modify" in the Adobe Acrobat item, and ensured that the Asian fonts are installed through that. Everything seems to go OK, but I still can’t read Chinese PDFs.
When I try to open a Chinese PDF, I get a message saying, "The Simplified Chinese Language Support Package is required to display this page properly." It then offers to install it, and I click "OK". Then it goes through the installation process. But at the end, I get another message saying, "The missing CMap or font was not successfully installed. This could be due to insufficient privileges. Please check with your system administrator to ensure that you have sufficient privileges." Recall that I already have administrator privileges.
Suggestions?

I have the same problem, but I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I have Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.3.2 installed. After installation, it reboots my computer, but the same error comes up. After doing this twice, I tried using Control Panel/Programs and Features to Modify the installation and add Simplified Chinese Language Support. That process also completed succssfully (i.e. no error messages) but even after rebooting again, and re-entering control panel, it showed that the support had not been installed. When opening the same document the same message was displayed.
It is clear that Acrobat 9.3.2 has an issue across a number of Windows platforms. Will soneone (anyone?) from Adobe acknowledge this issue?

Cannot insert Chinese character into nvarchar2 field

I have tested in two environments:
1. Database Character Set: ZHS16CGB231280
National Character Set: AL16UTF8
If the field type of datatable is varchar2 or nvarchar2, the provider can read and write Chinese correctly.
2. Database Character Set:WE8MSWIN1252
National Character Set: AL16UTF8
The provider can not read and write Chinese correctly even the field type of datatable is nvarchar2
I find that for the second one, both MS .NET Managed Provider for Oracle and Oracle Managed Data Provider cannot read and write NCHAR or NVARCHAR2 fields. The data inserted into these fields become question marks.
Even if I changed the NLS_LANG registry to SIMPLIFIED CHINESE_CHINA.ZHS16CGB231280, the result is the same.
For the second situation, only after I change the Database Character Set to ZHS16CGB231280 with ALTER DATABASE CHARACTER SET statement, can I insert Chinese correctly.
Does any know why I cannot insert Chinese characters into Unicode fields when the Database Character Set is WE8MSWIN1252? Thanks.

First of all, I am not familiar with MS .NET Managed Provider for Oracle or Oracle Managed Data Provider.
How did you insert these Simplified Chinese characters into the NVARCHAR2 column ? Are they hardcoded as string literals as part of the SQL INSERT statement ? If so, this could be because, all SQL statements are converted into the database character set before they are parsed by the SQL engine; hence these Chinese characters would be lost if your db character set was WE8MSWIN1252 but not when it was ZHS16CGB231280.
Two workarounds, both involved the removal of hardcoding chinese characters.
1. Rewrite your string literal using the SQL function UNISTR().
2. Use bind variables instead of text literals in the SQL.

Language support on Nokia phones is a bit of an embarrassment, to be honest. It's pretty hopeless.
As an end user there's nothing you can do yourself. What you can do is take the phone to your nearest Nokia Care Point and ask them to install a Chinese language pack for you. This will give the phone support for Chinese ideograms, both for display and for input. However, please bear in mind that:
1) Not all NCPs will do this for you. Some will claim that it's impossible, and indeed it may well be impossible if you got your phone from an operator rather than SIM-free from an independent retailer or direct from Nokia.
2) You may well be charged for this. The absence of Chinese language support in a phone intended for the UK market is not a fault in the phone, so the warranty cannot be invoked.
3) If you update the firmware at a later date, the chances are that this will wipe out the language pack that was installed and you'll have to have it installed again.

Sorry, you said Gmail. If that's the case, you can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.
