Cannot Read Files off CD/DVD Drive

I realize there are several similarly titled posts on this topic, but I have not found the problem I have. Computer: Pavilion tx2000CTO. O/S: Vista Home Premium (all updates current).
Issue: Some CD's and DVD's cannot be read completely. I CAN navigate the directory structure. I CAN see the files. I CANNOT open them. When I attempt to open from the DVD drive, nothing happens. No errors or other messages. When I attempt to copy to the HDD, I get the error "cannot read from the source file or disk". This does not happen on all disks, but I cannot find any pattern between when i can or cannot read. All of these disks are readable on other systems.
Note: similar for media files or disks. Some readable, some not.

I mean raw format, though you mean your disc is mounted, however you can't read the files on the disc?

Seeing lots of the same posts with the same solutions being applied (mostly upper/lower control filters/MS Fixit)... so I thought I'd put this up for everyone.
*Update* If this helps, please click the kudos to the right as I'm trying to gauge how effective this is. If you have the time to help the community, please reply stating what did or did not work.

Summary:
1) Try different discs! Cheap discs can be hit or miss. Find a disc brand and type that works best.
2) Try burning at a slower speed (not the best option, but can often get the job done if the laser is fading).
3) Remove drive from Device Manager and remove upper/lower filters (see below).
4) Use MS System Restore to go back to a time when it was working.
5) Use PC-Doctor/HP Hardware Diagnostic software to check for a bad drive.
6) If the drive is not bad - save your files and use HP Recovery to put the system back to the beginning.
If your drive cannot read discs; CDs or DVDs or both...

Summary:
{restart the PC at least once to see if the drive shows up on boot}
1) See if the drive is listed in Device Manager (look for problems if it is).
2) Check autoplay (skip if you don't use).
3) Make sure a bad disc isn't knocking out the drive (an operating system mounts discs as drives and things can get screwed up).
4) Try reading the disc from a command prompt environment (outside of Windows).
5) Reinstall drive from Device Manager (if drive is listed). {I'd replace this with bigger process of remove upper/lower filters (see below)}.
6) Use MS System Restore to go back to a time when it was working.
7) Use PC-Doctor/HP Hardware Diagnostic software to check for a bad drive.
CD/DVD drive is missing (not in Windows Explorer or My Computer or in burning software)...
CD/DVD Drive is not Detected (Windows 7)
CD/DVD Drive is not Detected (Windows Vista)
CD or DVD Drive is not Detected (Windows 98, ME, or XP)
Summary:
1) See if the drive is listed in Device Manager (troubleshoot based on what you see).
2) Reset Power: Unplug power cord, press Power button for 10 seconds.
3) Check power and data cables attached to the drive and look in the BIOS for the drive name.
4) Remove upper/lower filters (see below).
5) Reinstall burning software
6) Get and CD/DVD drive firmware updates if available (to prevent missing drives in the future (I assume)).
7) Use MS System Restore to go back to a time when it was working.

Summary:
1) Press eject button on case, on drive, button on keyboard (if exists).
2) Right-click drive icon in Windows and select Eject.
3) Turn off PC and inert a straightened paper clip into the manual release hole on the drive.
4) Check the power cord on the back of the drive.

First... try to use the MS Fixit (for Vista) if you are on the computer having the problem)...

Otherwise, here are the manual steps (overview):
1) Uninstall the CD/DVD drive in Device Manager and DO NOT RESTART the computer.
2) Uninstall your CD burning software (make sure you have the installation disc or you can resinstall from Start, Programs, PC Help and Tools, Recovery Manager (or Driver/Application Recovery). If you don't have the installation discs, skip this step - it might still work).
3) Open the registry editor (Start -> Run -> enter Regedit) ... might want to make a backup of the registry at this point.
4) Open the following keys:
+ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
+ SYSTEM
+ CurrentControlSet (or the current control set with lowest number if that is all that is listed)
+ Control
+ Class
5) Select 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318. It has to be this exact key - make sure you can see the last numbers!!!
6) Delete the UpperFilter and or the LowerFilters value in the right window if either exists.
7) RESTART the computer - this step is important. Wait for Windows to find and install the CD/DVD drive you removed earlier.
8) Reinstall your burning software and restart the computer again.

That's why you want to make a backup of the registry. If you didn't make a backup, use MS system restore to go back. The only values you should remove are UpperFilter or LowerFilter - one or both may be in there and can be removed. If neither value exists, then that is probably why you can't burn and Windows is not recognizing your drive as a writable drive.

Reading files from a mapped drive

I am trying to pull image files off of a network share in Oracle Forms.
Everytime I do this, I get error FRM-47109 Cannot locate image file..... i
have tried accessing this drive with 2 methods:
1. Button trigger calls with READ_IMAGE_FILE(:datablock.imagelocation ||
:datablock.filename || '.tif', 'ANY', BLOCK7.IMAGE_ITEM);
2. Button trigger calls with READ_IMAGE_FILE('\\server\images\'
||:CRASH_IMAGES.folder || '\' || :crash_images.docno ||'.tif',
'ANY', 'BLOCK7.IMAGE_ITEM');
Both of these calls work on the development side where the T:\ drive is mapped.
When the form is put on the production server with the same T:\ drive mapping,
the image is unable to be located.
I have also found Microsoft article Q122702, which explains how network shares
are distributed to services. I have edited the registry key
RestrictNullSessAccess to a value of 0, and remapped the drive using: NET USE
T: \\server\images /user:Administrator password.
None of this has worked for me so far, and I have been informed of possible
issues with forms and mapped network drives. Has anyone seen this before or know of a fix?

I'm not too familiar with Windows user accounts.
I'm having this problem of not being able to read files from a mapped drive.
Using 10.1.2 Forms Service on a XP machine.
How do i check to see which user is running the forms service and/or how do I change the settings a user has access to?
Check in server-info and User/Group: #-1(1)/1, what the heck??

Help! Trying to get a Video File off a DVD so I can use it in Final Cut Pro

Okay. I'm trying to cut together a project and I need the video and audio off a short DVD. The DVD is under 5 minutes in length and is not copy right protected. For the life of me I cannot understand how to convert the files off the DVD to something I can work with. When I open the DVD I have 2 files: 1) AUDIO_TS and 2) VIDEO_TS. I would like to convert these to something FCP can understand (AVI, MPEG...anything). I have searched and searched the message boards and have found no useful information. I have a feeling it's something to do with Disk Utility but have found no clear instructions. Half the sites want you to buy their software. Surely there is some way to do this without buying additional software. Any help would be greatly apppreciated.

There are four ways that I know of:
1) Play the DVD and have the player's analog outputs connected to your DV VCR or camcorder, which then acts as a convertor to bring it into FCP
2) MPEG StreamClip - FREE, rips the video and audio from the VIDEO_TS folder
3) DVDxDV - $20 or so, does the same thing as MPEG-Streamclip only a little easier, IMO
4) Cinematize - $70, same thing, more options

I am in the process upgrade EBS to 12.1.3 and when attempting to launch forms to "Generate All Business Views", I encountered three Form errors:
FRM-10221: Cannot read file /u02/applfint/apps/apps_st/appl/au/12.0.0/resource
FRM-41810: error creating menu
FRM-41067: cannot fine menu item: invalid ID
Back in my shell, I have also noticed that some part of my environment variable is not functioning correctly or is missing:
. /u02/applfinp/apps/apps_st/appl/APPSOFPROD_ofinprod01.env
or
. /u02/applfinp/apps/apps_st/appl/OFPROD_ofinprod01.env
Gives:
-bash: /usrxit/devenv.env: No such file or directory
I have used adadmin utility and choose option to recreate grants and synonyms; executing adautocfg.sh but problem is persisting.

I am glad you are online. I am on a deadline to finish an upgrade by 8 AM this morning.
I have actually finished the upgrade and was about to "Generate All Business Views" to fix all the dozens of invalid views that are trailing.
I had just finished applying Patch 9239090 to get to ebs 12.1.3 an its pre-requisits. This is the first time I am opening these forms and all forms are throwing the same error.
I have manually relinked the adadmin:
adrelink.sh force=y "ad adadmin"
Autoconfig is giving errors:

The error is probably due to one of the reasons:
1. There is no file in the location: /software/d01/oracle/interface/finance/inbound/email.9Nemail.13111507.3445704.cnv.
2. No permission on the file respective file.
Please get the assistance from the DBA to check on this.

I'm having a problem wich will get me nervous!
Here we have an application 100% generated from designer. The problem is that it have been started in questionnables ways ... there is 2 workarea to contains all the forms needed for the application instead of 2 containers in the same workarea. The workarea "JD" where we put all the utility forms and the workarea "PL" where we put all the forms use for the application configuration.
Recently I have developped a new form in the container "PL" but the menu calling this form is in the workarea "JD" with a fake copy of the original form so we can refer it in the "JD" menu. When i generated and run the applications and i choose my new form in the menu i got the error "FRM-10221 Cannot read file PL000000" 2 times then the forms is called and is running correctly. I really don't understand whats is going on cause there is no menu called "PL000000" in the 2 workarea!!!
All that i read about this error mesage from now tell that the menu is not in the form path or many other solution, but in my case I got an error about a menu that does not exists!! I know that something is triggering this but i just can't find it cause there is no menu called "PL000000" anywhere in this application!!??
Is there someone who could have an idea about whats going on here!!??? HELP PLEASE!

I'm not familiar with 100% generated forms from Designer yet and your answer make me discover something. It seems that when you generate a new form, the main menu of the container is automatically attached to that forms by default.
Plus i was wrong in a point in my original post. There was no menu named "PL000000" but there was one named something else but with the "implementation name" as "PL000000" ... my bad ...

I am facing form error when I install and configure the ocj4 in my server.
The form is working good before install/configure the oc4j. Once I install/configure oc4j i am getting bellow error when I open the forms.
OC4J is working fine, but form only getting error for me.
Issue is,

FRM-14810:Error Creating menu
FRM-14067: Cannot find menu item: Invalid ID.

Registry edit Apple requires is causing windows to not detect files on the DVD drive. If I set up the registry it requires then the files will not be dected & if I do it the way windows requires then the files will be detected but ITunes will not be able to use the optical drive. Is there any kind of patch or something someone can help me with?
