Cannot read PDF files downloaded via acsm

The app does not allow copying and reading the PDF downloaded via acsm delivery mechanism as it reports to be protected. Is this known issue or needs to be treated like a feature request. On PC, you read this document via Adobe Digital Editions.

That is definitely a very old Reader version! Uninstall it, then install the latest Reader for Vista, which is 10.1.9

AOL used to have a lot of problems with PDFs, hope that has not returned. Anyway, the PDF was probably sent as a text file rather than encoded as a binary file. That would make it corrupt and is a problem on the senders end. Older versions of Outlook also had problems with PDFs that would cause a problem on your end.

I am running the latest version of snow leopard on my mac. Since the last update of Firefox, I have not been able to open any newly downloaded pdf's. I get a message that says "The file cannot be opened.
it may be damaged or use a file format that preview doesn't recognize."
When I download using Safari, everything works fine. I have been using Firefox for a long time and all of my bookmarks are in Firefox.

I also disabled adobe npapi plug-in and now the pdf files open as usual.

i just got my n76 and when i transfered my pdf file to it, it managed to open but no words could be seen. every page was a blank one. bookmarks were present but just no words. anyone has such a problem? can anybody help? thanks

Cannot read PDF files with safari

Hello,
I cannot read my online magasine with my iPad.
When I open it as PDF with safari, I can read the first few pages but then it freezes and safari just shuts down. It's very frustrating!
There was a similar post to this in the Mac section where they suggest deleting all cookies, history and cache. I tried that but it does not solve the problem.
Any help welcome!

It seems that the problem is due to safari crashing with memory overload.
I am very disappointed with the iPad. It would seem it is nothing but an overpriced toy. It's supposed to be the most amazing thing ever for accessing the Internet and yet I can't even read an online magazine. Should have thought twice before buying it.

Help!! Cannot read pdf files in Microsoft Word 2003.

Everytime I download a document and try to open up a box opens up an says file conversion ms-dos word document (default) and some others as well. I've tried all and still will not work. There are a lot of letters and sybols that come up. whats the problem? I tried installing adobe and acrobat over and over .

You have to provide a bit more information than that. Your OS, your browser, what is causing that conversion - a browser extension?
If "something" converts a downloaded PDF doc to MS Word format, then that is not a problem of Acrobat or Reader.
Can you provide a screenshot of that po-up - perhaps we can find out what is causing that conversion.

Cannot read pdf files suddenly

I have tried to open on another computer and it works, so the files are not locked, or currupt.
I tried to download last version and it told me I already had a new version and shut me out.
Then I deleted my currrent files and tried to down load again.
When I try to open the PDF doc. it will no nothing.
I must access files all day long - can someone help?

I had the same problem. My version of RoboHelp is pretty old (x5) and the problem was with pdfs made up in version 9. Some pdfs would open and some would not. It depended on the version used to make the pdf. Got error messages and corrupted file messages.
I solved the problem by using the full version of Acrobat and using the pdf Optimizer to make compatible with version 5( just to make sure).
Another option is to "print" to the pdf printer when the file is open.
Both then can be imported into RoboHelp without a problem
Hope this helps. It ruined many days at work for me while I tried to figure out what on earth I was going to do.

I can't read pdf files through Safari.

Just recently I cannot read pdf files from Safari. The file shows up as dark space. I don't know why? Guessing I changed something that caused it. Any ideas?

Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

You can just drag the file to the trash. If you want you can remove the pdf plug-in from the internet-plug in folder, but that should not be necessary to correct your problem.

When you say that you have the same problem, do you mean that you are:
1. Not able to download Adobe Reader;
2. cannot view a PDF file;
3. or what?
Please be a little more descriptive of your particular problem or, better yet, start your own thread and clearly indicate which problem(s) you're having and what you have done, thus far, to correct the problem(s).
