Cannot receive emails, download speed down to 0KBs and freezes. Please Help

I am having trouble with my Mac Mail. when I start up the program, all new mail starts coming in and halfway through it will stop, download time goes down to 0KBs, and I cannot receive any new emails. Happens every time, after closing, force quit, restarting, updates, I cannot fix this.
I managed to get a error message from Terminal. Hopefully someone can understand what this is...

You are not alone - I have exactly the same problem. It sort of 'crept up on me' - downloads were at first slow, then they never completed, then the only way to quit was to force quit. It happens on several accounts loading from different servers, so is not a single email blocking up the system. Unfortunately, I have no simple answer!
I have been all this forum, trying whatever I can find - trashing this and that file - rebuilding - fixing permissions (take a look, it is discussed in several places) - even reinstalled the system from disc (10.5.4, then updated to 10.5.8)... That has worked for some people, but not me.
I will do a clean reinstall once I get back to my office from travels
Good luck

    Hey there John,
If you are still unable to receive email but are able to send, I would recommend you use the troubleshooting and info in the following article to help get that resolved:
Get help with Mail on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
First, try these basic troubleshooting steps:
To make sure that you're connected to the Internet, open Safari and go to www.apple.com.
Log in to your email provider's website to make sure that the account is active and the password is correct.
Make sure your settings are correct using Mail Settings Lookup.
    Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Tap the affected email account.
    Tap Delete Account.
    Add your account again.
Follow these steps for specific alerts.
    "Cannot get mail"
Make sure you entered the correct password. If you enabled two-step verification through your email service provider, contact them to see if you need a special password for your iOS device.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • I developed a number of message filters and now cannot receive emails. I deleted the filters and I still no emails. The account settings are right.

The emails are at my server location but will not show up on my desktop machine. They show up on our other machines that also have filters. The desktop machine is XP and the netbooks are Windows 7. I am at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the correct settings. They have never changed since iCloud debuted a year ago.

  • Leopard slows down and freezes - please help

I'm running Leopard on a Macbook and I have had startup problems and slowdowns in general a couple of days now.
When I start up the machine I get the apple logo, the spinning circle and then the blue screen for about 2-3 minutes before I get my Leopard wallpaper. It then takes another 3-4 minutes before the dock and icons load up and usually a couple of minutes before I can actually access the desktop.
The whole startup usually took me less than 2 minutes total and is now as you can see a much longer process.
Once in Leopard applications take much longer to load than usual and often freeze or stop responding. I get the colored spinning disc a lot and it seems like Leopard is using a lot of time loading up even simple apps like iCal and Mail.
I'm not sure but it seems like Finder is the problem. I have tried restarting Finder a couple of times and this always gives me the gray screen telling me to restart Leopard by holding the power button.
I have no idea why this has happened, I haven't installed any big apps or used up a lot of the HD space. I still have approx 85GB on my HD so that shouldn't be the problem.
I have of course tried the basic troubleshooting such as restarting and verifying/repairing disk permissions in Disk Utility so I don't know what else to do.
Any suggestions, tips, or ideas are truly appreciated. I really want my old Mac back, the waiting is driving me nuts.
    Thanks
    Dave

Did Verify report any errors? Did you try starting up from the Leopard installation disk and running Disk Utility from the Installer's Utilities menu, then running Repair Disk?
Verify didn't report any errors so that didn't really help.
I have just popped in my Leopard disk but there doesn't seem to be a menu for "utilities". My options are "Install Mac OS X", "Optional installs" (which doesn't have a Repair Disk option", and "Instructions".
Did your MacBook come with Leopard, or did you install the upgrade over your Tiger system?
The machine came with Tiger so I bought Leopard seperately, formatted the HD and did a clean install. But this was back when Leopard came out and I haven't had any problems with the OS until now.

  • I cannot receive email properly now. When I open mail, it says that is downloading about 1,700 emails. At the very end, it gives me my newest ones. But this takes a long time. I've contacted the Internet service provider and verified all the right setting

I cannot receive email properly on either my IPad or my IPhone. I have had them for over a year and they have always worked fine. Until three days ago, when they both started acting up. On the IPad, when I open mail, it says it is downloading about 1,700 emails. At the very end, which takes quite a while to get to, I finally get the most recent ones. The IPad is sending emails just fine.
On my IPhone, when I open mail, it says it is downloading 100 emails, but it doesn't do that. And it gives me no new emails at all. The IPhone is sending email just fine.
I have already deleted the email accounts on both devices and reinstalled them. I've contacted the Internet service provider and verified all the right settings. The Outlook email on my desktop is working perfectly.

WMV is a heavily-compressed format/CODEC, and the processing time will depend on several factors:
Your CPU, which is not that powerful in your case
Your I/O sub-system, which is likely a single HDD on your laptop
The source footage. What is your source footage?
Any Effects added to that footage. Do you have any Effects?
Each of those will have an impact on the time required.
The trial has only one main limitation - the watermark. Now, there are some components, that have to be activated, but are not with the trial, but they would be evident with Import of your source footage, if it's an issue.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

When I try to fetch emails a pop up box tells me to says verify your incoming email setting in settings.  I have, it is correct as I am receiving emails on my iPhone with the same incoming address.  I have tried deleting it and putting it in again but that does work. • I cannot receive emails on my iMac

This only started yesterday had been fine up until then but suddenly I cannot receive emails, any idea's

Might be too simple an answer, but some have reported mail dropouts from the mail server side that fix themselves after a bit of time. Also, have you restarted yet? And try a Permissions Repair in Disk Utility (Utilities Folder).

  • Cannot receive emails in iCloud Mail

I am using iCloud Mail on my iMac (Yosemite 10.10.2), iPad 2 (iOS 8.1.2) and iPhone 4 (iOS 6.1.3).
Because the iPhone is still on iOS 6, I have not enabled iCloud Drive on either the iMac or iPad.
I can send emails but cannot receive emails, except emails which I send to myself.
I have tried deleting my account and then reinstalling, to no avail.
I have also tried sending and receiving from within iCloud.com with the same results as above.
When I initially set this up, it all worked fine over the three devices.
Would really appreciate some advice to fix the problem.
    Thanks in advance.

Ok let me summazite my case :
In Office via wifi or enernet
    1. My account failed to login
    2. The other family account no issue
In Office via hotspot from my iPhone using 3G
    1. all accounts are working
At Home either wifi or 3G - No issue at all
I called Apple in Hong Kong, they said there are many users reporting the same problem, and they are investigating. Suggested me to reset the router and changing password, both do not solve .

  • I cannot receive email because Inbox is full? which is not full..

ISP Telfort Webmail works but I cannot receive email through Thunderbird ! Yesterday I received 7 emails 1/2 hour later I could not receive email. The message I receive as follows:
"Postbox is full and cannot receive any more email, please remove old email to make room for new email ".
Can someone please help to resolve this?
    Thanks, Fred

    dear Airmail,
I have checked and removed nearly all email from my webmail. I have emptied the trashcan and I have 4gb of space allocated and have about 1.5 gb in use.
The message is placed everytime I try to receive new email: The message is:
De map Postvak IN is vol en kan geen bijkomende berichten meer bevatten. Verwijder oude of ongewenste berichten en comprimeer de map om plaats te maken voor meer berichten.
In other words the Inbox is full and I cannot receive new email. Remove old or unwanted messages to make room for more messages.
    with warm regards,
